This was my initial response too, and I think somebody’s seriously getting played here.
The pattern is all too familiar. Big stories breaking, big dominoes beginning to fall, big disclosures and issues coming to light, when boom, another high profile murder or murder attempt to grab the headlines and instantly divert national attention and discussion.

Just to be clear what happened here:
Far-left pro-terror propagandists (Grayzone) who hated Charlie Kirk invented a narrative about an event at the Hamptons to lie about him, push falsehoods about his views, and encourage a conspiracy about who killed him. Candace Owens sided with those propagandists and tried to exploit his death to do the same.
Multiple people at the event, Charlie’s team, and his close friends have had to pause their mourning to publicly dispute these lies.

On July 8th, I got a text from Charlie Kirk inviting me to an “influencer retreat.” The theme was, “Save the West.” I told him I was available and would see him there. Very little information was provided. But it was a Turning Point event spearheaded by Charlie, so I assumed (correctly) that there would be some good people and a great program.
The retreat took place in the Hamptons on August 4th and 5th. At least 30 people attended. I only knew a handful of them personally. An itinerary was provided when we arrived. There were meals and themed sessions covering topics like American identity, immigration, economics, and foreign policy. Charlie stood at the front of the room. He would speak a little, then open the floor for discussion. He drove the discussion with challenging questions and there was spirited debate.

One concern Charlie raised, which I believe he also raised publicly, was about free speech. He felt that criticism of Israel was so discouraged, so penalized, that we aren’t really free to voice it. Some in the room agreed with him…..

I did not organize or participate in an “intervention” with Charlie. I was there at his personal request. I did not coerce him, or threaten him, or pressure him, or witness anyone else do any of these things. We spent two days hearing from our friend — both his concerns and his wisdom — and he took time to listen to, and encourage, each of us. He welcomed our feedback and debate; that’s why we were there.
I also didn’t place any calls to try and stop anything from being published or publicized. On the contrary, Charlie’s team reached out to me yesterday and told me not to respond to any inquiries about the retreat because they were being made in bad faith. They said, “These people have no good intentions during a time while we mourn our friend.” They also apologized to me that I was being dragged into this, and said that they were doing what they could to put false rumors and allegations to rest.

Clearing the air regarding the Hamptons trip with Charlie Kirk and Bill Ackman.
What’s true:
1. Yes, dozens of influencers including myself were invited to an event by Charlie and his team, not by Bill Ackman. Charlie wanted to get to know rising conservative voices and where we stood on various issues.
2. The subject matters were primarily about the following topics: Islam’s growing presence in the West, marriage/dating, Mamdani, right wing in-fighting, the economy, and various narratives regarding Israel
3. Charlie wanted to see us respectfully debate him and each other. There was a RANGE of views there on every topic. He wanted to learn our perspectives and analyzed our debating skills from an objective POV.
He started each topic with a provocative statement to encourage the creators to debate. EXAMPLE: One of the topics he started by saying (rough quote) “If I were to post right now ‘Bibi Netanyahu needs to resign,’ what would be the reaction?” This of course led to a number of responses. Someone said the post would indirectly empower Hamas and Charlie responded that her statement was “moral blackmail” and that if she wants to debate the topic of Israel, she needs to work on using more facts and less emotion. The conversations with Charlie were less about WHAT to believe—it was about how we express it if we want to truly make an impact.
4. Bill and Charlie never debated or argued. Idk where that narrative came from. If it happened, it certainly wasn’t around any of us. Bill mostly spoke about marriage and economics, then chilled with us.
5. I’m not going to pretend to know every thought of Charlie’s, but he very much stood with Israel. His frustrations expressed during the Hamptons event were that many people debated the topic emotionally rather than logically. Mind you—this was a small portion of the event.

from Grayzone (which I never heard of until he called) contacted me, I was wine drunk and boarding a boat in Italy. I was literally just confused why he was calling me and annoyed that he wouldn’t tell me who gave him my personal number. Charlie was murdered a week ago, so when I got a call about the Hamptons trip, I was trying to assess what narrative someone was putting together. So no, Max, I didn’t panic. I just don’t trust you. It’s giving stranger danger.
Lastly, nothing about the Hamptons trip (from the POV of creators) was an “intervention.” Charlie designed the event, and led it as a chance to listen to all of us and spark conversation in a way only he could.
We were encouraged to keep using our voices and fight for what we believe in, regardless of where we fell on various issues.
That’s exactly who Charlie Kirk was. And my last memories with him in the Hamptons are something I’ll always cherish.
