For those of you who are celebrating the death of Charlie Kirk know that you have accomplished nothing. Charlie Kirk is in a better place, a place he sought everyday in his Christian life. Oldersoul: I’m with you on your other comments, but firearms still require a metal chamber and barrel to function reliably and/or repeatedly. Plastic materials cannot handle (at least, not yet) the high chamber pressures of that result from the firing of ammunition.
A single-shot polymer barrel is already out there for 3D pistols. And a single shot is all that is needed to kill.
And I didn’t even mention the use of advanced ceramics for the chamber assembly that are just as robust as steel.
Metal detector sensitivity gets problematic (go-no go false positives, etc.) below a certain mass threshold.
Not that I am giving a how-to on beating a metal detector. But I don’t think they are the bank vault secure single-layer solution many make them out to be in 2025.
The best defense is someone who can take down the attacker, no matter the weapon the latter chooses.

If you feel someone who is undergoing transition is a normal person of sound mental capacity and not emotionally effected by drugs than I could understand your position. However, most of us would not.

That’s proven by the millions of legal firearm owners who never use their guns in a criminal way.
Criminals are barred from owning guns, imo so should mentally ill people be until they are proven to have gotten treatment and are stable again for a time period, perhaps five years and then can be examined again if they want to access firearms. I agree, It’s a slippery slope but there has to be some rational common sense about it too.

So far I’ve counted three circulating. I listened to one and was almost taken in by it, until it became far too long to be a song actually written by the “imagined” artist, whom I seriously doubt would actually feel as the song implied for Charlie Kirk.

I’ve been half joking with Edink about becoming a North Carolina Magistrate. Multiple IQ tests and a baseline of 120 should be the norm at the very least for any Government Position.
Discussed this in another thread. Usually a magistrate in county or Municipal court has to be elected. They also require years of legal experience as a deputy clerk, Paralegal and or both with extensive continued ed hours. A few I know only lack the technicality of a law degree. Obviously that is not the case here.
This woman had a serious conflict of issue and should be a defendant in front of a federal judge. The perp should have long since been remanded to a different court from a three strike requirement.

I was a cyber ops officer in the Air Force. We got the absolute smartest recruits. Quite a few of them literally could not handle the system and most of my time with my troops was spent either listening to them complain (rightfully, 95% of the time) or helping them figure out how to navigate Big Daddy Air Force without going insane.
Anybody that smart has other options, and they will exercise it. The only way you keep people like that is by offering them opportunities they can’t get anywhere else.

Using Medical Assistants instead of trained nursing staff in Healthcare is a similar situation–you only need a high school diploma and there is no training required. MA’s are tasked with vital assessments , obtaining accurate medical record and the results of any tests, imaging etc, relaying this information to the clinician —with zero training.

I don’t see (most of) these people celebrating Charlie’s death as evil or demon-possessed. Some undoubtedly are. But a lot of them are on the same level as cultists.
Scientology is probably the best-known and most visible example in the last twenty years, but I know there have been lots of these groups, especially for the Boomers who had to deal with the insanity of the 60s.
You can look up high-profile people from that particular cult and compare their behavior when they were “in” and how they are now that they’re “out.” A lot of them are still suffering the after-effects of the conditioning they were put through, but they’re generally decent people. Their behavior was a result of a totalitarian control system hijacking their better sense.
I think a lot of the Left is like that. Odds are, most of these people are redeemable. But the challenge is that you can’t just take them out of their commune and show them the real world. The enitre world has been hijacked. In order to help these people, we have to take back the entire culture, bit by bit, and the sooner the better.
