Those H-1B visa holders start at somewhere around $60 to $80k… cheap for IT work, which is why companies hire
them.
So a US citizen IT worker doesn’t get hired – even though he’s probably more capable and experienced.
The H-1B worker also has a path to legal residency (LPR)… which also applies to the worker’s H-4 spouse, and their H-4 children.
Many H-1B couples will birth children here, automatically making their offsprings USCs (US
Citizens).
Thus, assuming 65,000 H-1 visas a year… may really mean more like 4 x 65,000 = 260,000 eventual permanent additions to the US population each year.

I have noticed this too. First grade reading is just ridiculous with its rules. Plain old arithmetic as in 1+1 = 2 is just beyond belief and all the child gets are sheets that grade them on how they line up the numbers.
