In July, U.S. District Judge Maame Ewusi-Mensah Frimpong (Biden Appointee) ruled that ICE agents were conducting “roving patrols” within Los Angels and making arrests without “reasonable suspicion” that their targets were in the country illegally. Frimpong then prohibited immigration officials in the Los Angeles area from using race, location targeting, language, affiliations and other commonsense measures to stop and question suspected illegal aliens.
Today, in a 6-3 ruling the Supreme Court put a stay on the lower court order and essentially unrestricted the ICE and CBP officials so they can carry out their immigration enforcement efforts. The rulings should be based on the Constitution and cold, hard facts, and those are NOT TEMPORARY!
The rulings are temporary because there is such a limited record. The facts and legal arguments are sketchy. SCOTUS doesn’t want to issue a constitutional ruling with nationwide effect on such a record.
Trump is winning on the injunctions at an amazing rate. So as long as the injunctions are not in effect, it’s as if he’s won on the substantive legal issues (until SCOTUS ever says otherwise).

My predictions: SCOTUS will toss Trump a string of immigration victories.
Just to soften up their eventual birthright citizenship ruling. They will split the baby: NO birth right citizenship ruling going forward; but estoppel granted for all those who relied on birth right citizenship policy in the past.
Estoppel is not amnesty. But it is a way of putting this huge US policy lapse behind us. And to get back to deporting all the illegals. Per the Kavenaugh ruling today.
The Trump executive order is only not to grant citizenship going forward. It doesn’t address prior birthright citizenship.
