Isaiah 53: Probably one of the most “controversial” verses in scripture. The meaning and focus of which being vehemently defended by each “interpreter” each with credible “proofs” of meaning.
For me the verse certainly seems to convey a suffering/chosen/servant/messianic figure/metaphor.
Yet if we expand the personal “collective” lives of just about all and every truly righteous person who ever lived, from Abraham to yourself, it can also contain the feeling of familiarity. Who among us who truly try to follow God’s way has not been subjected to some form of the description, albeit in a “personal” way. We forfeit much of this world in order to follow, or at least search for the truth.
Then again when I read the verse from Ezekiel, I can’t help thinking, he must have thought Isaiah was talking about him. Like are You kidding me??

I have assigned you the same number of days as the years of their sin. So for 390 days you will bear the sin of the people of Israel. After you have finished this, lie down again, this time on your right side, and bear the sin of the people of Judah. I have assigned you 40 days, a day for each year.
The lesson though in both cases is that the righteous (suffering) servant accepted that which he was commanded, as should we all – thereby “easing” the load given to the few to bear.

LOL! Morning, Bets! We are dog sitting our youngest son’s dog. Sweet, 85 pounds girl. Very well behaved, never begs when you are eating. So Tuesday night Elizabeth and I went to Bible study and left half used HEB rotisserie chicken in its container on the kitchen island. When we got back there were the two parts of the container on the floor and a large grease spot on the floor runner. Lesson learned and no ill effects of all the chicken bones. The round ones can be a problem but there were 1 drumstick and two wings. No late night accidents, praise the Lord! ❤️😍

Serendipity provided this week. It isn’t always the case, and I found myself debating whether or not to keep a few in reserve. But today I just said “go on, let them all out!”
Oh no……..part of life that I’ve always dreaded, too. I’m not good facing it. Just knowing that you are makes my heart hurt. I understand exactly what you mean when you say that you’re trying not to grieve in advance, a thing I’ve never been able to stop myself from doing.
I often refer to the Hamlet quote (Claudius)…
“When sorrows come, they come not single spies. But in battalions!”
Oh boy yes. You can attest to this it grieves me to say with those you’ve loved and rescued. It gets no easier I know, as each one takes your heart. And yet what would their lives have been if you had not taken them in?
That’s the only thing when we’ve had to say goodbye to ours which is comforting…whatever else, they’ve all had the best lives with us.

She is quite a bit more timid than we are accustomed too, but, she is now enjoying hugs and eating much better. Phew!
Our farrier came and evaluated her feet (she has foundered in the past), and we have a plan to help her overcome some obvious pain she is having. She is about 22, so we know it will take time, but we are grateful fo the small gains she is making.

Good morning Betsy. Love all the Cursday images. Praying this is a true image as well. I will have a crowded mansion up there with all the fur babies I’ve saved, reared and loved!
Kitty central is chaotic joy as usual. To say I am exhausted would be an understatement. Now the “flying projectiles” have begun to run and bounce off of various pieces of furniture or the walls. They have also discovered how well they can jump and I am constantly getting them off the counters. I spritz them with water to no avail. Wouldn’t you know that these kittens happen to like water! Sigh…. They out ran me to the bedroom and promptly took a bag of hair clips apart and I am constantly finding them everywhere. This morning my son gave me a handful that were right inside his bedroom door.
Monday the 8th they all will either be spayed or neutered. They will probably be pretty groggy for a little while, so I might have a bit of a reprieve from the rambunctious adolescents!
I’ve been busy grading lots of English quizzes (over 90 on Saturday). Then there are the quizzes from the on-line students. Was not on the computer much this past weekend, but did enjoy the Caturday images you and the other treepers posted. By the way, the professor I grade for has decided to take one of the kittens. I will only have to find homes for three now. I am still working on my grandson to maybe take one. We shall see how that goes.

As for hair clips, I can only imagine. I am assuming that getting them into their carriers for their date with the vet won’t take too much out of you.
Glorious news about finding a home for one. Has he or she put “dibs” on the lucky chosen teen? I know you’ve been run ragged, girl. But all the same, I think at least for a little while you’ll miss them. I know I would. But thanks to you, these mites will have a longer and better life than had you not opened your home and your heart to their mother…and that is such a satisfying thing to contemplate.

When the professor dropped off the quizzes last Friday, she sat with me and the kittens, of course, had to check her out. She has chosen the only black kitten in the group. She is all black except for a small patch of white on her chest. Her hair is soft, silky, shiny and just a little longer than a shorthair.
I am sure I will miss them for awhile, and the knowledge they will have a better life is a most satisfying feeling.
So glad you got your new AC installed. I am sure you will need it for a little while. It is currently 93 here. I am also looking forward to cooler temps and Autumn. Here it is calling for 74 as the high on Saturday and 66 for the low. It looks like the evenings will be staying cooler now. I am so ready for those lower night temps.

“What is the likelihood that four candidates and two reserve candidates of the same political party, in the same region, would drop dead suddenly, within 13 days of each other—and just before local elections? It happened in North Rhine-Westphalia to Alternative for Germany (AfD) candidates on the September 14 ballot.
No foul play has been suggested, and local authorities pronounced two of the deaths as resulting from natural causes. Still, it is very strange that six men from a party despised by the German establishment—especially the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, which has labeled the party “right-wing extremist”—would die under these circumstances.
To be sure, AfD isn’t a threat to win in these upcoming local elections. In North Rhine-Westphalia, the Christian Democrats are comfortably ahead of the pack, polling at 36%, followed by the Social Democrats at 23%. AfD is in third place, with just shy of 16%.
Still, the party has trebled its support there since the last election, and the establishment parties are running scared. Last week, all the political parties (except AfD) in Cologne, a North Rhine-Westphalia city of 1.1 million, vowed not to criticize migrants or migration during the campaign.
Under the so-called fairness pact, parties said they will “not campaign at the expense of people with a migrant background living among us” and will not blame migrants “for negative social developments such as unemployment or threats to internal security.”
This development is especially bizarre given that Cologne was the site of mass sexual assaults of German women by Arab and African men on New Year’s Eve 2015-16. According to German police, of the 153 suspects identified in the attacks, two-thirds were from either Morocco or Algeria, 44% were asylum seekers, and another 12% were probably in Germany illegally.
Yet political elites in the very city where these atrocities took place have gagged themselves for the greater good of Germany. This leaves AfD as the only party willing to talk about migration as a problem—if their candidates survive the next two weeks.”

I know what you mean. I have asked God more than once that when I come before Him to have my life reviewed that He please slow down the years I spent with my horse, Joey, that I might savor every moment again.
I have an old video that I will post for you next week. It’s a foal rescue that the foal was so bad that they were going to euthanize her. Then one foster home stepped up and asked for the chance to at least try to save her. She turned out to be one of the most beautiful palominos I have ever seen and won top prizes at competitions.
I would very much like to also see that foal rescue video too.
Maybe just maybe, we will be among some of Jesus’s “saints” they talk about in the Bible that go with Jesus as part of his army on the white horses.
I will forever thank and be grateful God gave me the gift of taking care of and riding one of his most magnificent creatures he created.

Jo Stafford – Moonlight in Vermont – She performed this tune live Dec. 9, 1948 on The Chesterfield Supper Club – an NBC Radio musical variety program (1944–1950), which was also telecast by NBC Television (1948–1950).
This particular recording is on the winter-themed album Ski Trails – released in 1956 and I can’t confirm it but I imagine she re-recorded the tune again with Paul Weston & his orchestra.
Stafford’s pitch center was rock solid. And her narrow, unusually accurate vibrato always included the true pitch in every cycle… She had a velvet voice…….
My better half adores Willie Nelson’s singing and loves his rendition of this tune…
I first heard this version on KVOO in Tulsa when I was just learning to appreciate a wider world. My little transistor radio was a link to another, far more cosmopolitan world. We got our TV a bit later than most people but my parents, bless ’em, weren’t averse to me staying up late. This allowed me to discover “Playboy After Dark” which originated from the Chicago mansion. Getting to know and understand the people and the music was magic to a 12 year old. But what really worked was having a little radio that could more easily pull in even more distant stations.
Moving to Texas allowed me to listen to KRLD Dallas’ “Music ‘Till Dawn”. Wow that fascinating cosmopolitan world and I connected yet again. Throughout it all, Jo Stafford’s haunting version of Moonlight in Vermont stayed with me. Did those experiences influence my growing-up life? You bet they did!!!
That’s a pretty unique experience. I don’t think I ever saw that show or that it was ever offered in the Baltimore TV market.
In 1969-70 (when Playboy After Dark was originally recorded according to Wikipedia) I was attending community college plus working long hours and didn’t watch much tv at all.
Now you have me, wondering if those old shows could be found on any streaming service these days.
My recollection of watching the Playboy After Dark tv show was at least a decade earlier, if not even older. Wikipedia is mistaken, I think. Or maybe it was Playboy . . . without the
“dark”. . . I vividly recall the opening titles showing stars arriving in Hef’s Mercedes 300SL “Gulwing” sports car. Beyond cool.
That was Playboy’s Penthouse (1959-60), Hefner’s first taped TV show. He broke social ground in many areas with that show. No racial barriers and also he had the very controversial comedian Lenny Bruce appear several times.
I never knew about it until I read about it tonight. I was only 9 in ‘59. Baltimore TV was still quite culturally conservative at the time.

Hey Treepers, I posted up a new video on my youtube channel “Dirt Road Bushcraft”. I camped in one of my favorite tents and I talk a little about the gear I used.
I found some nice elk rub near camp. The area where I camped is open range for cattle and there’s a lot of cattle trails, some so well used that they look like hiking trails and there was one near camp.

As a boy, I recognized that the beautiful natural world and abundant life were created and felt awe, joy and appreciation. As a teenager, I spoke, from my heart, to God to express my gratitude for his creation, my life, and sending his son Jesus for our redemption; to ask forgiveness of my sins through Jesus and repent; to make my heart pure for Jesus to live and shine his light, truth and courage through me; and guide my life. The next day, I arrived home to find that my father had left. I felt stunned but also calm. One year later, I was injured playing a sport, ending all school athletics for me. I began to live only within the confines of the tangible world and popular culture while neglecting my spiritual dimension, drifting away from who I am as a person with little inner happiness. My life was off course and going nowhere. Then, I received a tremendous gift of love from my future wife coming into my life. Soon after, a phone call with my mom regarding the continuing bad effects of their divorce caused me to clearly see and feel the true sadness of my family break-up, and I sobbed uncontrollably, finally releasing my pent-up feelings. I earnestly prayed to renew my relationship with Jesus/God and specifically and clearly asked for guidance for my life. A few weeks later, my future wife asked me what I really wanted to become. The answer came up out of me as if it had been there all along waiting to be acknowledged as though I had been hardwired to follow a course but was only then realizing it. From that point forward, all I needed to do was my best through the challenges and sometimes struggles that awaited me, and I was provided with the strength and support to succeed in a career and provide for my future family. During our wedding ceremony at the church, I was unexpectedly overcome by what I believe was the Holy Spirit, the power and intensity of which felt stronger than love. Witnessing my children being born granted a rare glimpse into the miracle and truth of creation, with no faith needed, and that love is the most powerful force on earth as I would give up my life, in an instant, without any hesitation, to protect my child and spouse. When each of two elderly family members passed away, there was a surprising sense of peace, a holy peace, that permeated the entire room at the moment of death, and for several minutes after, that all those present felt and acknowledged in whispers. Right after my mom’s funeral driving home, I received a clear, telepathic communication in her voice that said, “It’s okay honey, I’m alright”, which is exactly the way she would say it. Looking back, it is clear to me that a path was provided for my life that fit me and was beyond chance or self-realization. The contrast between before versus after receiving the gift of my wife, renewing my relationship with Jesus/God and asking for guidance was too great to attribute to me alone or random events.

“Christ foretells the destruction of the temple. (1-3) The troubles before the destruction of Jerusalem. (4-28) Christ foretells other signs and miseries, to the end of the world. (29-41) Exhortations to watchfulness.” (42-51)
(1-3) “Christ foretells the utter ruin and destruction coming upon the temple. A believing foresight of the defacing of all worldly glory, will help to keep us from admiring it, and overvaluing it. The most beautiful body soon will be food for worms, and the most magnificent building a ruinous heap. See ye not all these things? It will do us good so to see them as to see through them, and see to the end of them. WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Good Morning Patience. Monday I ‘celebrated’ the day Doc went to sing with the Angels. 😢
Asking about my new digs gave me the perfect intro to this:
Well… I survived a great morning adventure.
I prevailed over sausage and eggs for breakfast.
I have been cooking since before I could drive. My mom was working when brother and I got home, as long ago as junior high – so, naturally I got dinner going
In the intervening years (I am no longer young), I have cooked on electric and gas stoves, propane and charcoal. I have done my share of baking in the oven, too. Long time Treepers may remember that I used to promote Tuesday as ChewsDay by publishing some of our favorite recipes.
Circumstance moved us into a minimal living space; a motel converted into extended stay, as a matter of fact. For nearly four years, if a food could not be eaten cold or cooked in the microwave we went out. iHop, Sizzler and Applebee’s were mainstays .. plus others.
I have been dodging the challenge since I moved into my apartment last Friday.
I bought ‘real food’, sausage and eggs (not hard boiled and peeled). I introduced myself to the stove (can a mere electric stove sneer?). I immediately made some profound discoveries. My ‘now compromised’ eyes had trouble finding which knobs controlled which burners. Had to get the small flashlight to read the settings and set the knob temp.
You great culinary masters lill laugh. I forgot how long it takes an electric burner to heat up – so i kept turning the knob to a higher temp. You guessed it. Then I had to keep turning it back down.
Hey – Yay! Success. Except I probably should have gone for scrambled rather than sunnyside (runny) eggs. It tasted wonderful.
Somehow I even got the lid, the dish, the utensils and the pan cleaned up.
This is an accurate representation of my Cursday breakfast adventure

Hi Soaz. Note to you and Patience: I’m relying on memory to get me through.
So … 2nd challenge of the day. The joint has a laundry. I toddled down, loaded washer, and was able to set 3 of 4 knobs. But the one that ‘runs’ the washer eluded me. The other knobs have black marks at active ends. ‘Run’ knob doesn’t. Another resident showed me how that is marked, so wash begun.
Two winners against electricity – run devices. Hows that for the start of the day?

Yes, after having a propane gas stove when I lived in the mountains, then moving here to Texas and having an electric stove, it is quite the adjustment. I had to learn what patience was all over again when cooking.

When I had to move my business the first time, I lost the ability to have a natural gas stove.
Bought this induction one instead for my personal use as it is not big enough for commercial use, tho they do make bigger ones.
This is designed as such to be a drop in so it can be built into a counter top but also works well on a table or counter. Downside is most peoples current pans will not work on it. I would suggest getting induction pans off these same people as they are just as cheap as buying “induction ready” pans via retail that did not work with this unit(Sam’s didn’t).
Induction is a lot like gas cooking, instant heat that is very controllable & will boil water faster than gas. Only the pan bottom gets hot, glass top has fan that cools in off in about 1 minute after pan removed and shuts off automatically when pan removed for longer than about a minute.
