Grassley is honoring Blue Slips from Booker and another Senator – which is a Senate tradition (that clearly R’s don’t use when you consider how many radicals got confirmed during Obama and Biden). Tillis says if Grassley gets rid of the blue slips, he will vote NO on Alina Habba.

That’s a good point you make – that Republicans in the Senate don’t seem to use the blue slip “tradition” to prevent leftist radicals from being confirmed. They only insist on honoring the blue slip rule when Democrats object to a Trump nomination. It must be true, because otherwise how could so many Obama- and Biden-nominated radicals end up on the bench in states that had at least one Republican senator who could have prevented it with a blue slip? I object to it regardless, but if it only works one way then it needs to go. There are too many of these Senate “traditions” that seem more holy to Senate Republicans than scripture.

Tillis is burned. They “used him up” in the Ed Martin appointment as DC U.S. Attorney (position new held by Judge Jeanine). Tillis ain’t got no leverage one way or another and whoever “owned” him has used up their leverage over him, as well.

I think what is going on with the whole Cracker Barrel activity is something I have seen, experienced sadly, before.
In this case, a Board of Directors of Cracker Barrel, woke Board of Directors, took a wide view of just what that company’s assets are and realized the most valuable asset, not the public relations, not the customers, not the brand or history of the business – but the real estate.
The land and buildings that house the restaurants. And then greed stepped in – how to cash in on the real estate valuation in an industry, restauranteering, which is going through major changes due to the economic hard times. And someone came up with the idea, after watching what the Bud Light rebranding did to that major brand, and said ‘let’s rebrand, refurnish the entire brand, drive those customers away so they can justify the sale of the real estate.
Could just be an opinion based on past, sadly to say, experience – the thieves get clean away, “it’s just business.” “we have to consider our shareholders” etc., etc. and we will know soon enough if not the case if the CEO gets fired and the branding returns to what it has historically been, or the valuation of company stock continues to fail and soon the Bain Capitals of the world step in, ostensibly to ‘turn things around’ and the next thing we know, Cracker Barrel is one for the history books while the real estate holdings make a mint for the new owners.
If you are correct with this deliberate sabatoge of own company, the bet is on foreign purchase of real estate. No outright purchase. Instead investing to save the company with the real estate the collateral. Not so much attention as outright purchases.

Didn’t Red Lobster do something similar with their real estate? I seem to recall reading that they had sold and leased back their buildings.
If I am not mistaken, that is a “private equity” tactic that adds to the cost burden of the business and AI seems to confirm.

Nope, doesn’t work. If the value of the real estate was a multiple of the EBITDA from operations, the Board would simply show that to the stockholders and the SEC , and sell off all the land to a leveraged REIT with shares being proportionate to the stockholders- that they could hold or monetize .Then, have the stores sign leases for the land with the REIT. The units that could not cash flow the leases would be closed or sold off to operators or businesses that could cash flow the land. In this way the Board complies with their fiduciary legal duty and the shareholders value is maximized. Destroying the brand ( which is a valuable intangible asset) to accomplish the land deal would not only be messy, stupid , and make less money, it would be a violation of the Board’s fiduciary duty and subject the Directors to personal liability. The Board is doing this because they really believe it is good business and that they are right and the customers that oppose this are wrongs. Same reason they went with the LBGTQ alliance. They, like the smarty pants Board at Bud Light are about to find out that they are wrong.

Pelosi, Schumer, Dick Cheney, Elon, Tim Cook, Bill Gates. They are “haves”.
Our forefathers/founders put their live, fortunes, and sacred honor down for us.
It is not between have and have nots. It is between good vs evil. It is between those that follow/submit to the principles of our Creator, and those that want to do what they want and control what they want.
You don’t have to be a “have” to win this war. We just have to have an overwhelming majority in this country willing to lay down for the good of one another.

The Costa Rica offer came late Thursday and included a requirement that he remain in jail, according to a brief filed in Tennessee, where the criminal case was brought. After Abrego Garcia left jail on Friday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement notified his attorneys that he would be deported to Uganda and should report to immigration authorities on Monday.
Later on Friday, “the government informed Mr. Abrego that he has until first thing Monday morning — precisely when he must report to ICE’s Baltimore Field Office — to accept a plea in exchange for deportation to Costa Rica, or else that offer will be off the table forever,” his defense attorneys wrote.
Filed along with the brief was a letter from the Costa Rican government stating that Abrego Garcia would be welcomed to that country as a legal immigrant and wouldn’t face the possibility of detention. An additional benefit of the offer would be that Costa Rica is a Spanish-speaking country, like Abrego Garcia’s native El Salvador. Abrego Garcia would only be deported to Costa Rica after serving his sentence on the smuggling charges, according to the brief.

President Trump is on a roll with Federal takeover of our crime-ridden cities. I hear Chicago is next. A true story I heard this morning is hammering this point home to me. Our pastor’s son, a Marine and not in uniform, was headed to a store in Baltimore to purchase flowers for his wife this weekend. As he was walking from the parking garage to the store, and being trained in self defense, he happened to feel the need to look behind him. He seen a person dressed in ISIS clothing and approaching him wielding a large knife. The person raised the knife and the Marine’s first instinct was to draw his pistol and kill the threat. Then a lady in purple hair jumps on his back, screaming for him not to harm the terrorist. He shook her off and being trained to disarm the enemy, proceeds to attempt to gain control of the knife, which is then dropped by the attacker who then picks it up and runs away. Because of the woman, the attacker escaped capture this time. The Marine’s family is thankful their son doesn’t have to deal with a killing but sad that the attacker got away to possibly threaten the life of someone else later. The Marine commented tongue-in-cheek to his family that Islamists and liberal feminists would be the ruin of this country 🙂 When it was all over, he proceeded to the store and bought the flowers for his wife. His wife says the flowers will eventually be dried and she will keep them forever. Needless to say, everyone is very thankful that their Marine is ok.

Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) met with Kilmar Abrego Garcia on Sunday following the Salvadoran national’s release from criminal custody, his office announced.
On Friday, Abrego Garcia, who is awaiting trial on human smuggling charges in Tennessee, was granted a release from custody by U.S. Magistrate Judge Barbara Holmes. He has since returned to Maryland, where he previously lived with his family before his arrest and deportation to El Salvador earlier this year.
Now that Abrego Garcia is out of custody, Van Hollen, who was one of the first Democrats to decry the Salvadoran national’s deportation as an alleged violation of due process, is seizing on the case again.
That deportation could be coming soon, with a Department of Homeland Security official saying on Saturday that Abrego Garcia may be deported to Uganda “in no fewer than 72 hours, absent weekends.” He has also been instructed to report to a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement office in Baltimore on Monday.
The potential move would align with a court provision that only bars Abrego Garcia’s removal to El Salvador due to safety concerns.
Earlier this summer, the Supreme Court also ruled in the Trump administration’s favor regarding third country deportations, greenlighting such removals like Abrego Garcia’s to Uganda.
