Yes!!! I did see that!! We keep our AC at 83 /am and 81/pm hoping against hope that our electricity bill won’t break the bank. But we just got the biggest eye watering bill we’ve ever EVER had. This week we had two unexpected and unforecasted downpours. They were glorious, Pat, and I gave immediate thanks for them. Hoping we will have an early autumn.
O dear, I’m finally getting some warm weather. It rains too much in the Evergreen State.

Good morning Betsy. Love the top one. I can relate right at the moment. My hair is long and I wear it in a braid but with the kittens here I have to wind it into a bun and get it up away from temptation. I use those funny looking claw clips and they do bat at them but at least I still have hair! Still, on occasion, have to apply first aid to some scratches, but not near what it was before.
Poor Cleo keeps trying to get away from the “male” kittens as they are almost as big as her and still want to nurse. Is this not just a typical male?! They never get over weaning, if you know what I mean! Hee Hee Hee!
Nothing new to report. I do have to try “the great escape” when I want to use my bathroom or need something in my bedroom. The minute they see me heading that way, I’ve got all of them, as fast as lightening, coming to the door, so I’ve learned to accept the challenge of seeing how small an opening I can squeeze through without having seven kittens wrecking havoc in my otherwise neat and tidy bedroom!
My next challenge today is how I can grade English papers for two classes, without having them shredded by the seven pairs of “murder mittens”! I may have to close my office door to get it finished. The challenges are never ending and I keep learning new coping skills.

It took me a while to post this lot today…my own mind was preoccupied. Yesterday we learned that while travelling to San Marcos where one of our twin grandsons is at university, he and his brother were cut off at high speed by a senseless driver with no spacial judgement on a wet highway just outside of Austin, trying to squeeze in front of them. They had no chance.
By the mercies of Almighty God, both lads escaped any injury, but Charlie’s car was accordioned all the way to the windscreen, but inexplicably (?) no further. I learned this when I was speaking to my daughter who phoned me yesterday on her way down to help with the moving in. The other driver admitted fault and has insurance (thank goodness he wasn’t illegal!!). It could have been a tragedy instead of merely a disaster. Their father, who had not planned to to down as well but for some unknown reason changed his mind (also “??”), was following in his car. They managed to get the contents of the written off car into his, and now they are getting Charlie settled in.
How close we came to losing both and under other circumstances should have…
But for Almighty God to Whom I have offered prayers of abundant thanks 🙏🏻 Just as miraculously no other cars were involved. Both lads know by Whose hand a wrecked car is the only casualty. It was only hours later after we received the news that I remembered that we gave the lads and their sister St Christopher visor clips as soon as they passed their driving tests (again, “???”…His hand is everywhere I look.)
So this morning I am so so SO grateful but nonetheless still shaken. Life is very fragile. It takes something like this to remind me. Thank you, Father, from my sinner’s heart for Your grace and mercies and protection of two of our precious gifts from You 🙏🏻
So on the back of that, I posted only half of my kitty cat inventory. Saving the rest for next week when surely I’ll have my head screwed back on straight…here’s hoping!! 😘

Just about every weekend I pray for my son. He purchased a house in Marble Falls and now goes down there just about every weekend instead of every other weekend. Eventually he will move there permanently, and try to come up here to see me every other weekend.
I also pray for my grandson, as he has to travel to Durant, OK every day to his job. I am fortunate to have him living only minutes from me though.
I’ll look forward to seeing more Caturday stuff next weekend.

Funny though…the day the accident happened, in the middle of the day apropos of nothing, a vision came to me, brief but nonetheless impactful. I knew Charlie et al were headed south this weekend. And suddenly I was in the backseat of his car looking at the back of him, on I35…

My mother was a writer. She wrote and published a book about the history of Lubbock where I’m from. Compiled all the photos of its origins and through the decades. So much research. Like you, I’ve tinkered with the idea of writing but in what form. Not one drop of inspiration.
But no matter. This site gives me lots of opportunities to put “pen to paper” which I enjoy. Just as it does for you, sis, and so many others, all of whose wordsmith mastery I can only admire. How wonderful for those whose papers you are grading. Perhaps you can instill into them a love of words and the power of them. I still remember my 7th grade English teacher and the influence her teaching had on me..

Afternoon, Pat love . . . Re grading papers. Haven’t had papers to grade sincae ’12 when I retired. That’s something I don’t miss. Just came across came across an evaluation of an early grad school paper. My soc. professor, a full professor, wrote a 3 page criticism of my very modest seminar paper. In it he carefully explained point by point why my very poor submission (I’d written dreck) was not at all up to UT sociology standards.
Not that we could do it, but at the time (1970) grad students were expected to strive for publishable quality seminar papers. Looking at his comments it is clear that he was gently telling this brand new grad student that I’d written dreck.
Lesson learned. I was always gentle with my student’s term paper evals—
evan when they produced dreck.

Where before she tended to avoid contact, a few months ago now she began exhibiting more normal (i.e. more affectionate) cat behavior. Of late I’ve noticed that when I tell her she’s a “good kitty” she rewards me with a gentle purr. Just now when I told her you’d sent her a “hello” she sent you a gentle purr. What a remarkable little kitty. 🙂

That speech was never given as presented. The words were Patton’s but they were taken from a number of the speeches he gave to American units.

May 1916. Lieutenant George Patton led a group of 10 soldiers on a raid of a Mexican ranch, looking for Pancho Villa aide Julio Cardenas.
It was the first attack using motorized vehicles—and it was a success.
Patton gunned the Mexican leader down with a pearl handled Colt .45 pistol.
Two other Villistas were also killed.
Patton transported the bodies about 90 miles to the headquarters of General John Pershing. The young lieutenant had actually disobeyed orders in attacking the ranch, but Pershing ignored that and soon gave him a promotion.
The bodies were strapped over the fenders and hood of the car.
BTW, Ike was one of Pershing’s aids at that time also.
BTW Pershing would go on to have a steamy romance with Patton’s sister Anne. It eventually came to nothing with Pershing ending it.
When Pershing heard about Patton slapping a US soldier during the Sicily campaign he disassociated himself from the Patton clan altogether.
A family friend was Patton’s driver during the campaign after D-Day.
And it was after he had gone home and Patton had a new driver that the accident which took Patton’s life occurred.
Back when I was an instructor at SOMED down at Ft. Sam Houston, I would always lead the rucksack “marches” and sometimes lead the runs.
When I led the runs at O Dark Thirty, I would always go down by the Pershing house and make sure I was leading the SF medic wannabes in singing a loud Jody as we passed by. I did the same when we would pass by where Ike had his quarters while at Ft. Sam.
Didn’t know what officers were living in those quarters at the time, and didn’t care. I was just letting the spirits of Pershing and Eisenhower know that their Army was still around and maintaining it’s fighting strength.
To their credit, no officer on post ever complained about it.

we all have within us an intuitive sense within us. Some people call it conscience. This is placed in all of us by GOD! But to FEEL this Intuitive Sense you have to LEARN to LISTEN for it, and Get a “feel” for it! It is something that can be developed and appreciated. When I get an INTUITIVE nudge … (it could come in a “inner picture”, or “word”, or other ways, and you have to PAY ATTENTION for it. And it can come to you over the course of a day or couple of days.
NOW what do you do when you “feel” something INTUITIVE … you have 2 choices … and both are “teaching you”!
I sometimes “follow” the intuitive nudge, and sometimes I don’t. It is developing for all of us. If I dismiss the intuitive nudge, … just pay attention … to the after effect. If you don’t follow it, you start to get “sense” … something is “off”. This is very subtle at first. But if you continue to “dismiss” the nudge … it will get stronger and stronger … and you could start to get pains and feel “OFF” stronger. PAY attention. It is INTUITION just advising you to PAY ATTENTION! And “actively PRAY TO GOD to help you understand what you should do! Jesus advised “PRAYER and FASTING” … Fasting did not originally mean “not eatting or drinking” … just “STOP DOING WHAT YOU ARE DOING ( … STOP and take a break… ) and as jesus did … GO to mountain, hill, go on water, go “somewhere to have some time with GOD and YOU. And ask for guidance … BE STILL … SILENCE your ego mind … LISTEN in devotional mode … “for an inner sign, picture, anything … that can help to get into the “zone”, get the “clean feeling”, … the “feeling that only YOU will feel, it will be the way GOD can communicate with YOU. But over time … as you STOP and LISTEN … YOU and GOD will figure out way to communicate with YOU. And you develop this “intuitive sense”, making “mistakes” and “correcting them”
So develop this “intuitive” sense , YOUR way to communicate with GOD. GOD does LOVE you deeply, so understand when GOD gives YOU the nudge … GOD is doing this FOR YOUR GOOD! And when you screw up or FOLLOW the nudge …. THANK GOD for LOVING YOU SO MUCH, as to guide you. To the best of your ability NEVER get angry at GOD (your LOVING FATHER which art in HEAVEN) … just admit …” I guess I screwed up and need to STOP and LISTEN again. GOD wants to “HELP YOU” … so over years of training you will get better at it. Realize you are a little child of GOD, … and YOU are eternal! So as you grow … YEAH you will make mistakes … so … LET IT GO … and STOP and LISTEN again in SILENCE for the nudge and follow it. TRUST ME it will take you to HEAVEN and beyond …anything you can imagine. When you grow up “little kid” … GOD has plans for YOU! So LEARN to “stop and LISTEN” … as they say “children should be quiet in the presence of their Parents?teachers/guides/ elders … or something along those lines.

Good morning
Got the yard mowed yesterday. For some reason the big cottonwood in the back yard has been shedding it’s leaves early. I don’t know why but at the rate it’s going it’ll have lost over half of it’s leaves before the first day of meteorological Fall (Sept 1).
Those big leaves are the most time consuming to grind up with the mower. Combine the passes grinding leaves with the grass being high from not being mowed while I was gone, and the task took at total of 4 hours.
But the yard is now looking good and that’s what counts. All I need to do to finish the job is just a little bit of weed wacking.
Corbin came over when I was nearly finished and I stopped and spent some time with her. She came to pickup the pecans I had bought in Georgia on the way up. They are this years crop in the shell. She’s going to make a home made pecan pie for me and will bring it over Wednesday. She brought 4 homemade chicken pot pies for me and put them in the freezer so you all know what I’m having for dinner today.
She has canned 7 different varieties of pickles. I had told her about my grandmothers canned pickles. Pickles that were neither sweet nor sour nor dill, but savory. She looked up different old recipes some dating to the 1800s and tried seven of them. It will be at least six weeks before I find out if she found the right one.
I faced time Sherry while Corbin was here and we both talked to her. She looks tired. She obviously has the worst end of this deal, but that was the way it had to be.
It is now quite obvious that Nikki is in her final days. The cancer had reached her brain and that is why she is getting combative and hallucinating. She has been “picking at the air” for over two weeks now.
So it seems that soon the Lord will answer our prayers and take her.
After I got my shower and fed the dogs I went over to Steve’s barn and we watched the Sprint cars racing on the dirt track in Kokomo. By the time that was over I was done. Came home and hit the sack. Didn’t even turn on the TV.

It is my understanding (I did not research it) that the law the court cited applies to Federal facilities. Governor DeSantis maintains that it is a Florida State facility, so the Court’s lawfare decision is not valid.

In the early 2000s I worked in the building that can be seen in the bottom left corner at 3:13.
The Paulucci building had one of the best views of the aerial lift bridge, and when the big ships came to Duluth they parked right next to the building on the far left side in the bay.
One of the women’s bathrooms on the second floor in the Paulucci building had a stall where the toilet sat right next to a window that looked out on bridge. Interesting boat viewing spot, for sure.

“The apostle proves the resurrection of Christ from the dead. (1-11) Those answered who deny the resurrection of the body. (12-19) The resurrection of believers to eternal life. WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

The forecast for the MJO shows it cycling back into phases conducive for hurricane development after Sept. 5th. Right now, except for a disturbance that will be a Cyclone down near Indonesia, the picture is pretty much dead globally.
