Wasn’t it just yesterday I was picking her and her twin older brothers up from preschool?? “Sunrise, Sunset”…I include the picture below because I can see from studying it there is a beloved pup in there somewhere, even if he seems to be elsewhere.

How often I long to be back on the dirt roads of Vermont with my Gram and her German Shepherd, Pokie: searching for wild berries, wild asparagus, and as the sun went down – counting the deer peering at us from the edge of the forest. Pure Heaven.
But, you know, I was a weird kid (still am according to some). I just knew innately, even then, how special it was.
And, don’t even get me started on my Dad luring all the neighbor kids to crank the ice cream churner – a latter day Mark Twain!

Oh sis!!! We haven’t put a tree up but once since we got back twenty years ago. But my trees in Wales were things of utter splendor. Old fashioned with dozens and dozens of ornaments of this kind, all different…and gold beaded garlands woven deeply into the branches of our chosen tree. We’d go every year to the rather wonderful garden centre situated on the estate of the Duke of Westminster outside of Chester, just over the Welsh English border.
After selecting our tree, we’d go inside to their expansive shoppe, have coffee and a bite to eat, then peruse their fabulous selection of traditional and quirky ornaments. How we looked forward to it.
I wish I had had one like this sweet donkey, resting after carrying Mary to the stable 💕 He would have been right at home in those beautiful branches. I love him, love him, love him!

Morning , my brother ☕😘 No he hasn’t!!! Oh my goodness, G!! I can hardly take that in. Nor you and Elizabeth I bet. The days flow swiftly by per the song which name I mentioned above. It has been meandering around on my head now on a daily basis, anticipating a year hence when Sarah Grace departs for whatever university she will attend. Thankfully during the years when she and “her boys” (as she calls her brothers (all three being very close) were in my daily charge, I knew time would hurry on. So I consciously gathered the ingredients for the mental cocktails I am now sipping. Hope you are doing the same with Nipper and Miss V…it certainly goes quickly 💕😌 Bucca hugs for both if you don’t mind, and please take a couple for yourself 😘👍🏻
Miss V. is also a fifth grader and her brother is in eighth, and he is as tall as I am. They start school nest week. 😍

I have the cutest pics of my kids going off to “the first day of school.” Of course, they had their new pencil box and even a brief case once (not my idea, she insisted!) I always sat in their rooms for a while after they left to shed a tear without them knowing. Enjoy!

Re: Cursday . . . I’ve talked about how my walking problems make it hard to justify getting a dog . . . Still, living in a neighborhood that is attractive to dog walkers often leaves me wishing I still had a dog. My problem is with my left foot. I have a pronounced bunion which as contributed to intrusive metacarpal pain.
I finally admitted that my homey old Dockers just weren’t cutting it. I found a pair of comfortable looking orthopedic loafers on Amazon (40 bucks) which I paired with some Dr. Scholl’s insoles. Well. The extra stiffness combined with the insole’s design worked amazingly well. Gone is my by now familiar (but uncomfortable) “Joe Biden shuffle” which made just walking short distances problematic. I can now walk more normally and—wonder of wonders—the annoying bunion/metacarpal pain has disappeared.
Now that my walking gait has so dramatically improved, I am again giving serious thought to getting a dog. Or rather. allowing a dog to choose me.

Thank you for your kind words, dear Bet. I’ve always enjoyed sharing music with friends so posting music here just seems to be a natural reach. I intend to keep posting classical guitar selections along with other music choices so long as this continues to be enjoyable. Back-in-the-day when we began talking about this being our church what I had in mind was the kind of civility well established congregations so often embody.
So, despite being intentionally unchurched, I nonetheless genuinely respect the closeness of lasting relationships. It is those kinds of lasting relationships that I feel have come to characterize our little part of the Treehouse. But, this being the ‘net, I also understood then (and understand now) just how fragile our kind of civility can be. As I say . . . as long as this continues to be enjoyable I intend to be here with my friends.

COMMENTARY FOR GALATIANS 5
“An earnest exhortation to stand fast in the liberty of the gospel. (1-12) To take heed of indulging a sinful temper. (13-15) And to walk in the Spirit, and not to fulfil the lusts of the flesh: the works of both are described.” (16-26)
(16-26) “If it be our care to act under the guidance and power of the blessed Spirit, though we may not be freed from the stirrings and oppositions of the corrupt nature which remains in us, it shall not have dominion over us. Believers are engaged in a conflict, in which they earnestly desire that grace may obtain full and speedy victory. And those who desire thus to give themselves up to be led by the Holy Spirit, are not under the law as a covenant of works, nor exposed to its awful curse. Their hatred of sin, and desires after holiness, show that they have a part in the salvation of the gospel. The works of the flesh are many and manifest. And these sins will shut men out of heaven. WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

From childhood to adulthood, we are taught;
We must control our feelings as we ought;
A woman can cry and regain her composure;
But a man must refrain from feeling exposure!
In public, we mustn’t make fools of ourselves;
Be sure to put feelings back onto shelves;
Be sure to conceal some part none can see;
Keep our feelings under wraps protectively!
Some of us build walls – others build fences;
Through these barriers – the battle commences;
We share bits and pieces of trivia true;
Not too much – that just might – belie me or you!
We play this game fairly – not just because;
Our fear of rejection might give us pause;
What man puts asunder – no man can break;
There’s too much to lose – too much at stake!
So what does God think of this foolish frivolity?
Does He look kindly on this dumb-founded folly?
If lies and deception are part of this game;
It will surely divide if not defame!
No doubt God would rather we not build walls;
Those fences do not keep in whatever befalls;
Without or within is nowhere to be;
Separated from God – are you and me!
Love one another as I have loved you;
Jesus gave – this command – so we must do;
He mentioned neither walls nor fences to be;
Erected to keep – me from you – you from me!
As a servant of God, He was second to none;
He set the example for the victory won;
So if we build fences around our hearts;
The Spirit He moves – but soon He departs!
His gifts – they are many – His fruits the same;
From giving of self – we should not refrain;
Freely He loves – so love freely must we;
Not a stone unturned must there ever be!
We reap what we sow – our harvest returned;
With a heart full of love – we have so yearned;
From inside out and from without within;
Without walls and fences – we must begin!
We must be not afraid – it is about trust;
The love in our hearts gives it its thrust;
If our union is blessed – then blessed it will be;
With faith – through grace – for eternity!
So remove that fence – and tear down that wall;
Before opportunity passes – and trust befall;
Be not afraid – I am with you always;
Today – and tomorrow – and for all days!

I don’t know from where in the Western tradition this need to be stoic comes, but it’s really not the way we’re created. Jesus is the God of the universe, yet at the tomb of Lazarus he openly and publicly wept. The Lord feels and it diminishes Hm not one iota. So shouldn’t we, without feeling shame?

My dogs are organic early warning systems and I have predator discouragement slingshots loaded and within an arms reach, also bear spray.
When we were sleeping outside we could hear coyotes near and far, owls and other night time noises, it’s pretty cool.

Evening Prayer For Forgiveness
Heavenly Father, thank You for bringing me through this day and Lord, forgive me for the times when I have wandered outside Your best will for me, instead of trusting You implicitly.
Thank You, that You are such a gracious Shepherd to me and that You come and rescue me even when I lose my way and stray from the path that You have laid out for me.
As I look back over today, I know Lord that there were things that I should have said and done differently, and times when I reacted in a manner that was not honouring Your holy name. Forgive me I pray, but thank You, Father, that You always faithfully prepared to gently bring me back to Yourself.
Give me a good night’s sleep I pray, knowing that there is no condemnation because I am in Christ, and may I wake up in the morning refreshed and ready to do Your will. In Jesus’ name I pray,

Evening Prayer For Future Guidance
Heavenly Father, as I lie down to sleep tonight, I pray that You would guard my sleeping and protect my mind from wandering thoughts and unnecessary planning. Teach me to wait for Your perfect timing and not to try to plan my future in my own strength.
Lord, I know that You have scheduled every day of my life. Help me to trust You in all things and rely on You to lead me along the straight path and guide me in the direction that You would have me to go.
Give me patience to wait for Your perfect timing, and may I not trust in my own abilities and scheming, but rather rest in Your love and trust my future into Your hands.

Just had water spout come on land within a mile or so our location.
Preceeded by one hot lightning storm.
Preliminary damage was a few traffic lights one island over on Holden Beach, we’re near Ocean Isle Beach. Couldn’t see the island during height of event.
