Yesterday Corbin, Nikki’s first Child called and asked we have room for her. She and her husband live abotu 7 miles from us. She is nearing the end of an internship for and masters degree in clinical psychology and has accumulated a lot of personal days. Her boss told her GO!
If things go as planned she will return with me and keep me company during the drive.
Years ago when she and her mother was living with us for a time, she went with me when I was driving a big truck one night. It was a run up to Romulus, MI and back. A short run. Usually 4 1/4 hours up and 4 1/4 hours back. On the way back when I got to Ft. Wayne the snow really started coming down. Corbin was asleep in the sleeper., I woke her up and had her get back in the passenger seat and buckle up.
I-69 had not been plowed at all. There was 4″ of snow in the left lane and just two tracks in the right lane and it will still coming down.
I came up on two trucks with an old Cadillac following them. They were going far too slow. So as I pulled out to pass the caddy whipped out in the left lane in front of me. STUPID! I backed off and told Corbin ” Watch! That guys going to crash and I don’t want to be involved.”
Sure enough he lost it and spun to the right between the two big trucks and off into the ditch. I wasn’t stopping! My concern was getting Corbin home safely. Neither of the other trucks did either. I hoped the moron had a cell phone so he could call somebody that gave a crap.
I made it back to the yard and after I backed the trailer into a slot and tried to get out from under it after I unhooked it would not budge. It had a transmission problem. I was thankful I had kept going.
Get some rest before that Florida run driver.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

At the Iowa State Fair,
a team couple quietly, with permission,
just used their dodge ram pickup and trailer to pull a John Deere 730 tractor onto the grand concourse ( street )
Quietly, early morning, they unloaded the tractor from the trailer and parked the tractor onto the grand concourse.
Then quietly, a large USA was installed onto the tractor.
For all ( 100,000) to see throughout the day on tractor day, at the Iowa State Fair.
And then at the early morning breakfast tent at the State Fair
a group of everyday people people sung a rendition of Allelluia Alleluia Allelluia
…and cheers followed.
It’s another day, of the 10 day Iowa State Fair – lots of events, food, activities and joys..

I had the privilege of seeing him conduct the CSO live at Ravinia…under the stars so to speak but in a Pavilion seat…it was a very memorable experience! They played all the well known pieces.

The losses are all bad, but, this one is especially tough. I’ve been spending hours morning and evening with Louisa – she falls asleep with her head on our shoulders.
