Local “youths” and gang members, some only 14, 15, and 16-years-old, are randomly attacking, mugging, maiming, and shooting innocent Citizens, at the same time knowing that they will be almost immediately released. They are not afraid of Law Enforcement because they know nothing ever happens to them, but it’s going to happen now!
The Law in D.C. must be changed to prosecute these “minors” as adults, and lock them up for a long time, starting at age 14. The most recent victim was beaten mercilessly by local thugs.

I’ve lived in the DMV for 45 years. I went to school in DC for 4 years in HS. The one constant with that city was policing. We LOVED it as kids because we could get away with murder. Buy cigarettes when 15, alcohol on any corner store, we could do anything. The only police we tried to avoid were Park Police. They were a different animal, and very strict. So when being bad kids you avoid Rock Creek Park.
PDJT should just pull the trigger on taking over. The place has been crime ridden for as long as I’ve been alive. My buddy got sucker punched during the “Knock Out Game” BS years ago. He woke up from a coma in the hospital weeks later. I moved out to the burbs to get away. Whenever I have to go into the city I will just say, I don’t follow the weapon laws. The municipality of Washington, DC, is an incorporated entity. Corporations may be organized for any lawful purpose. As dead entities – think Corps(e) they have no inherent right to exist. If rampant crime isn’t sufficiently unlawful enough, then just pull a forensic audit and liquidate it for cause.

The area immediately around Arlington National Cemetary is relatively safe. Although if you travel just a mile over into DC, SE DC is the absolute most dangerous place of all the places in our region. If you’re ever in the area and find yourself in SE DC in an area called Berry Farms, you need to get out FAST.
I lived on SE Mass Ave, Capitol hill in 1982. I was 25 and teaching for Prince George’s Public Schools..We had bars on our windows , my car broken into and scammers stole money from me..I didn’t dare walk across Lincoln Park to the mini market and there was a brutal murdder of two Capitol Hill Pages in the neighborhood..even the grocery store was scary. I lasted six months.
I lived in Oxon Hill when you were teaching there. We moved to VA about 5 years later because we came home from the movies one night and there was a little old lady sitting on the corner near our house leaning forward. My dad went to ask her if she was ok, and she said her back was really hurting, so he leaned over her to get a better look, and sure enough she had been shot. My dad had to call 911. We moved 2 months later.
bshaw, nice to meet you. Decades ago, I went to Catholic schools in DC grades 7-12. As minors, we could buy alcohol in liquor stores and illegal drugs in DC, no problem. Cops never hassled us for drinking beers in public, either. However, as with developing countries, in DC, there remains always, a risk of the unknown, as what happened to Big Balls, and the J6 prisoners, as DC has never been safe or rational DURING MY ENTIRE LIFETIME.
In 2007, DC’s finances were so inept, an outsider, Natwar Gandhi, was brought in as CFO of DC. He knew what to do, cleaned the finances up – so staffers setup a scam, blamed it on Gandhi, and eventually Gandhi was forced out in 2013.
USA Citizens all need to show that we are tired of the lack of safety in our Nation’s Capitol. Do anything and everything in your power to make this happen, and conservatives can once again descend on DC in droves.
Lack of safety in DC began with the 1968 riots, and never improved. For those of you not familiar with DC, every American should be incensed at the local government and lack of public safety.
NYC had a lot of bad years, then in 2002 Michael Bloomberg became Mayor of NYC, cleaned up the city, made it safe, three terms, 12 years as Mayor. 2014 – present there is not much good to say about NYC governance.

Zone, pleasure to meet you. My experience was very similar. Were you in school there in the 90’s? Curious if you’re a rival:-) I was in Catholic School there as well.
My theory is that much of Washington was a prosperous area for Blacks. The area around 14th and S or T had many middle class and even professional blacks. Shaw also I think was nice. After desegregation the more motivated blacks left DC for Maryland. The traditional neighborhoods broke down as the unmotivated were left behind.
I haven’t lived in the area since the baseball and basketball stadiums were built. Both those areas had been “no go” zones at night. Water St was nice then (and I think much nicer now) but getting towards M St not so much.
I commuted in from eastern Md and the road network was oriented towards Baltimore, so getting into DC often meant following the surface streets in mostly NE but sometimes SE in Anacostia. I felt perfectly safe during morning commute as the locals around in those hours were working folk. Evening not quite so much with the squeegee brigades out on S Capital and Pennsy Ave by the bridges were traffic was always congested.
From what I’ve seen Capital Hill is pretty much gentrified now and places like Eastern Market near the 8th and Eye Marine Barracks nicer.
I do have some family who lived west of Rock Creek in what is a whole different world, but they moved across the line to Md a couple years ago for the schools.
It wasn’t Michael Bloomberg who cleaned up NYC, that was the GREAT Rudy Giuliani, mayor of NYC from 1994-2001, “America’s Mayor”! And he cleaned up the City by cracking down on crime including “quality of life” crimes. And during the 80’s, he brought down the mafia. Michael Bloomberg just maintained Giuliani’s policies, he can’t take credit for anything.
The way I remember, Bloomberg inherited a city already cleaned up by Rudy Giuliani.

my granddaughter attended George Mason, she was stalked by one of her classmates,,,,,they changed her dorm room then told the young man where she was, and they never removed him from any of their shared classes, they told her she could change her classes, she never felt safe on campus, so she left after the second semester

In Democrat controlled DC, prosecutors simply refuse to enforce the law. Remember when two teen girls, 13 & 15, carjacked the Pakistani immigrant in DC, whose offense was to be driving an Uber Eats vehicle, his version of the American dream, and killed him. Oh, how they worried about the effect of all this on the two miscreants. The girls were sentenced to the “maximum,” incarceration in a juvenile facility until age 21. Some maximum for murder, eh? Trump needs to get on with the business of dismantling every bit of the federal government that isn’t necessarily required to be in DC. Ship mining to Montana, Forestry to Maine, etc. That will turn DC into another Detroit or Baltimore, which will be good riddance.

I do believe some could be changed in a military style bootcamp that provides education and authority figures but likely just a small number. The left has owned these city cesspools for decades and it may take a generation to clean them up. As a tax assessor in some of these neighborhoods I found that many could not even carry on a conversation. All I could pick up was ghetto garble and when I explained who I was and what I did, they looked at me like I’m from the moon or something. OK, thanks, and I moved along.
I did see an interesting reaction from them though. As I worked I had clipboard, tape measure, big name tag, and my jacket and hat had some similarities to UPS, or police or city official. I always had my head on a swivel and noticed that groups hanging out nearby tended to fade away as they saw me going to houses. I even had some ask me “Are you the PO PO?” Being 6′ 5″ also helped with my safety.

Yes, proclivity toward criminal behavior is indeed highly heritable as traits such as impulsivity, lack of self-control, aggression, a lack of empathy are commonly found in such people, and yes, at a VERTY YOUNG AGE. In fact, research has shown that toddlers exhibit aggression and impulsivity, even violence.
Such males should be sterilized but we are a society that has never addressed out problems with quantitative analyses and logic. Oh, of course, scientists do such things, but our schools do not, unlike Asian schools, concentrate on math and the analyses that comes from first looking at numbers to both identify a problem and to solve a problem. It’s a curse for us, actually.

Margaret Sanger’s primary goal when she founded Planned Parenthood was to reduce the black population via abortions because black persons were considered genetically inferior. According to the Guttmacher Institute, the abortion rate for black women is 5x higher (old statistic), than for white women. Don’t have time to pull recent statistics, but you can look them up for yourself.
In my opinion, the answer is to enforce the law, at all levels, without any kind of prejudice.
As in, if you do X, the punishment is Y, regardless of race, sex, culture, IQ, genetics, country of origin, etc.
As well, some groups think they can bypass our legal system because of their “culture”. However, the Law states that child rape is a felony, as is sodomy of a child, as is genital mutilation, etc.

Having written all that, at this moment I have no suggestions for repairing this unacceptable state of affairs. I suspect of we have any chance of doing so it will be a multi generational project. Many people who have decent math skills do not employ them in looking at problems, in solving problems. It seems to be an American affliction.
When you watch students in a classroom, adults or high school kids, it’s amazing how few of them ever consider FIRST a mathematical clarification of a situation. All they need to do so in most cases is the most basic of math skills.
Do you recall how many Americans, especially liberals, reacted to the Broken Windows policy of the Guiliani administration? They went crazy. Before anyone had the chance to explain to them the underlying principle of the policy and the DATA that helped support it, they immediately jumped to the UNFAIRNESS of it all and the name calling began.
When the policy bore fruit and the data plus one’s eyes and experiences on the streets of NYC PROVED the policy worked, many still shook their heads because, you see, they_just_can’t_accept using numbers to see things more clearly. Sadly, there are so many of these kinds of people that they really never feel SHAME, which is the one thing that can and does shut up stupid people.
They say “diversity is our strength” but I would challenge anyone to show how the most diverse neighborhoods are stronger. Are the homes kept up better? Are the streets cleaner? Is the crime lower? I watch a morning news broadcast from Baltimore even though I don’t live there. It seems the city has completely given up on enforcing auto theft by youths.

What used to happen is we sent them to farms to pick berries. But given the demographic aspect of the Bell Curve problem, putting a bunch of people with certain physical attributes in fields picking berries would be called slavery very quickly. I mean, that’s why they had to import people to do that work. We then replaced work with Welfare because we didn’t have a lot of options.
AI is about to make this problem much, much, worse because AI will not discriminated based on IQ and we could have tens of millions of fairly smart people sitting around with nothing to do.
The media can get away with calling them “10 attackers” or “youth” or “gang members”, but everyone knows in D.C. (as in most urban areas) that means black teenagers. In downtown Philly, every so often a group of them will rampage through the historic district. Almost like a tornado. The police don’t really stop it. They just drive ahead of it and tell business owners to lock up their stores and pull down the shades until the storm passes.
Black Fatigue is a real thing. Nothing else to do, no education, dumb as shit, poor impulse control, and available white people they’ve been actively taught to attack. Black fatigue is the general change in public attitudes which now acknowledge that years of kissing the asses of criminals is producing severe public safety consequences. These people sainted a recidivist drug dealer and violent criminal who died in police custody, for example.
Maybe the answer is for non MSM media to issue “Black Flag” warnings, maybe have an app for it…when there’s a spike in certain areas…or when 911 calls rapidly rise…telling app users to avoid a given area of the city.
I want to add here, that all research over a 100 year period shows that people with IQs in the range of 85- 100 do very well in jobs/tasks that require repetition.
Typical of “experts,” many tried to remove from the curriculum, in elementary school as well as middle and high school, tasks which required memorization. They took from that group of kids, the ONE major thing they actually liked and had some success with.
A couple of generations of American school children cannot do multiplication through the 9’s. “Hey, Johnny? What’s 8 times 6? ” Blank stare.
The other things is this: people who love repetitive tasks felt as if they were quite successful, but our education system told them, “No, you’re BETTER than that!”
That, my friends, is pathetic.
I believe that strong consequences unilaterally enforced are the answer to crime. That means things like the death penalty. Or automatic minimum jail sentence. Or whatever it takes. I realize there will be occasional miscarriages of justice that happen but this would be better than the alternative, which is rampant crime and the suffering of many innocent people. Consequences are a deterrent in all areas of life. They work. So does incarceration. If the criminal is in jail they can’t continue to harm people. Jail should be unpleasant. That is also a deterrent.
For a thousand years, whites simply hung the bad seeds, and we got the Industrial Revolution out of it.

Reality is a VERY BIG word. Truth comes close, within the same sphere. With that in mind, I can reasonably say about humanity in general there exists both good and evil. None of us are exempt. This fact is in plain view, and easy to understand.
In between good and evil exists a -really- broad spectrum of different views, thoughts and experiences. It’s just human nature that people see things differently.
Take reality for instance. People have different points of view and see reality from different perspectives based on their own experiences, mental abilities, etc., and this fact opens the door to disagreement about what reality realistically is. See?
This is all to say that reality does exist, yet with billions of people with their many individual differences, what is real to one is not necessarily real to another.
Seems to me the bottom line regarding reality is that some people simply don’t give a damn about other people. So we have the “reality” of many evil atrocities, alongside of good deeds, responsibility and lack thereof.
In the end it all comes down to good and evil; whereas all of us have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
I am so glad that God made a provision for us.
We have been taugh learned helplessness, not realizing the promises sold to us all were false, so we would drop our defenses. Therefore, the limits to such “solutions” are also an illusion.
The good news is that this can be solved, must be solved, by Gen Z and Gen Alpha – even the young girls of Gen A are hard right, and they will get even harder, as hard as they will need to be.

There was a real reason those laws in the 90’s were enacted. Crime went out of control in the 60s and by the 80s it was complete chaos.

City living is just a more compact environment, and criminals are running rampant in the dem run cities, because there are no negative circumstances for their criminal behavior.
He was helping a young lady and got beat up by thugs, who have been brought up to hate and blame their circumstances on any one but themselves, and the fact there are generations brought up indoctrinated to believe this.
It is not as bad here rurally, but I see some criminal behavior from youth that shows up from the cities, except here they are arrested and face negative circumstances for their antisocial behavior.
I do not stay holed up in my home, but I do not venture into the big cities and even out here I do not do anything after dark, as the criminals do venture out here once in awhile to wreck havoc.
