Today is an Anniversary .
I had my eye bleed on July 31, 2019 and my first eye shot on August first. The drug, Lucentis, is a DNA modifier that works by blocking a protein called VEGF, which is involved in the growth of abnormal blood vessels in the eye (VEGF: Vascular endothelial growth factor). The imperfect blood vessels leak.
Good news: I have not had another eye bleed. However, as with all drugs, the side effects are problematic. 1) cataracts – lens replacement in 2020. 2) glaucoma – roto-rooter surgery in 2021 augmented with daily eye drops, and 3) ongoing various trouble in my head (yes,, its all in my head – ha ha)
Of course, nutritional supplements are a major source of support. That began in the mid 1980s when I was selling them to doctors (like Doc) who studied their benefits and used them as a major part of their patient care.
Last month I added Veintonic capsules: an herbal combination to improve circulation. Another thing I did was put two 2×4 boards under the feet at the foot of the bed. This puts my feet above my heart making for (I hope) more blood to the brain and eyes.
Why would I do that, you might ask.
If you have regular eye check ups you probably get a glaucoma test. Well, whatever your results are in the doctor’s office … pressure will be higher at night. Regular health checkups also include a check on your blood pressure. Here again, whatever your pressure … it will be lower at night. Yup – makes it hard to get oxygen and nutrients to the retina and optic nerve.
My low to very low blood pressure, therefore, is problematic. Assuming these additions will increase circulation, and therefore deliver more oxygen and nutrients to the eye (and other organs), the negatives may be held at bay.
Of course, there is no way to measure the circulation in the eye. I guess , the doctor’s imaging devices show the effects. But, as you precious OT treepers remind us every day – results are in God’s hands. We get to ‘listen’ and apply actions daily.
Today I celebrate 6 years. WINNING is so much better than losing.
Been working glaucoma since 2005; lost sight in my R eye due to a bleed during surgery followed by a vitrectomy. Had glaucoma surgery on L and have had great vision altho peripheral vision is in decline–have been seeing products for retinal circulation improvement RetinaClear is one. May try; need to pass driver eye test in ’26.

So very happy for your success. In my work life, I scrubbed many thousands of eye surgeries of every kind. I was also blessed in many instances to see patients pre and post-op. I shared in their triumphs and held hands through their disappointments.

The only problem I had came before the surgery. My ‘injecting’ doctor noticed a rise in pressure in February. Between monitoring and scheduling, I was set up for August surgery. Then my ‘designated driver’ ended up in hospital. Meanwhile, optic nerve destruction was ongoing. Successful surgery event was Sept 12 (as I recall).
Now I see a decided loss of color and detail in the glaucoma (right) eye. The left eye has dry M. The miraculous brain puts both eye images together, even tho both are compromised.
But I often have trouble making out detail in the wonderful pictures posted here (and elsewhere)
Not complaining, mind you. Waking up is a blessing. Waking up with working eyes is a double (indescribable) blessing

Yes, thank the Lord for two eyes! Besides giving us stereo vision and depth perception, they fill in the blanks for each other. Phew!
The part of your eye that perceives color is in the cones – and they lie in the periphery. Of course, glaucoma starts its robbery in your peripheral vision. That’s why visual fields testing (very tedious for patient and operator!😄) offer a pretty accurate map of damage higher pressures may be causing.

I asked my glaucoma doc about loss of color and detail from damage to optic nerve … and he said yes, could be.
He then makes a grunt / laugh – too bad both macular problems are not in the same eye – giving me one good eye. Ugh – I suspect dry is creeping in to share optic nerve loss.
I keep reading, looking for suggestions beyond what I’m doing now. Reading on how to increase blood circulation to / in the eye is what got me to the bed trial solution.

Re: stem cells – I see comments re: studies here and there, but no indications of success.
Not in the same category as praying … I rely on Angels during my night time imaging. Feral Cat (do you remember her?) sent ‘sewing angels’ to repair my optic nerve. A host of other Angels work on other parts of the eye.
My Endobiogenics folks believe it is possible for a damaged nerve to regenerate. But, of course, the optic nerve is in a class by itself.
Like Joe K above, we learn how to adapt.

Tomorrow, we install more fencing so they have a larger part of the paddock to play in. They, of course, wish to run free again, but there are still trillions of mesquite beans carpeting the ground: so no dice.

Yes, mesquite flour is a thing around these parts. Doggies like to munch on the bean pods too. But…….they have such a high sugar content, they can cause equids to founder (also known as develop laminitis). The actual beans are harder than rocks – you could boil them for a month, and they would still be…..harder than rocks.
I’ve never counted, but, certainly we have at least several hundred mesquite trees, and this year has been a banner bean producer. We rake the area where Louisa and May are allowed each day to remove the beans that have fallen overnight.
Throw in:
hay soaking
hay draining
drying hay on tables in the sun
mixing meds in the food processor with a low sugar treat and water to create a “treat” they will eat,
and we have created a new part time job!

I can say this … until i did the raising of the foot of the bed (the entire bed is at an angle) I had cold feet. Now, after sleeping at an angle, they are warm to the touch.
My logic is that .. besides the feet being higher, my head is lower too. Heart doesn’t have to pump uphill (head still on pillow)

Kid got clipped by a forklift and pinned to a pallet wrapper. She’s pretty bruised up, but nothings broken and she’s a-okay. God Was/Is/Always Will Be with her. Sucks. There were no supervisors on hand at the employer and Savannah did her part and notified them at the plant… but she didn’t tell her agency in a timely manner… thinking they’d all talk amongst each other about it… so she is being written up tomorrow and they’re forcing her to go to a clinic.
I know enough medically… to know she’s okay and no long term damage, but alas she will go through the procedure. She believes it was an accident and the forklift driver didn’t see her, so she holds no ill will… but she’s upset that she’s getting written up over it.
I mentioned lots of “Esther” moments at my my new job… and it’s evolving more… and getting more dire.
There are 90 souls there and 4 executives who have terribly mismanaged the place need to be shown the door. They are repulsive “woke” people who treat the employees so disrespectfully… men and women are coming to me alike to describe what they’ve gone through. Three men with more than 100 years experience between them… one is a bronze star recipient. Many others with 20 plus years with the company, too… so these people “know” things. The 59 year old youngster among them told me they’re trying to drive everyone out because they want to bury the history of all their mistakes. They are all witnesses to how the company has been dragged down barely recognizable.
Not sure what those bozos thought they were doing hiring me… because I won’t put up with it. I have zero qualms about going straight to the owner and asking some hard questions. The business is going under and can’t sustain the level of subtrefuge any longer. There’s missing equipment all over and much has been “stolen”.
The owner seems to be a good guy… but terribly disengaged… and a Christian. He doesn’t play reindeer games with the faulty execs… but he doesn’t deal with them either. He’s an introvert, which he apparently denies…
Deep history with Dow Agrosciences and big pharma… so there are sometimes reasons… tax wise…. for holding onto a failing company. Going to have to find out for sure if he’s a good guy or bad guy… and if he’s just letting this happen because he doesn’t want confrontation. His son works there too… so one would hope he’s vested in the legacy of the company.
I hate being in this position. Sometimes I hate having a mouth and courage that doesn’t just stand by… its just not in me. How simple life would be… to just be oblivious.
Don’t even get me started on business… they were projected to
do $6 million in June and barely reached $2 million.

The execs are whack-a-doodle and the VP is married to an Asst Superintendent of a major school corporation… well, we see how that’s gone… haven’t we? He had a really weird emotional outburst the other day during a meeting… so these yahoos have flown over the cuckoos nest. I outwardly make jokes that he needs a therapist and medication. I hold no punches!
God evidently wants me here… so I’m seeing it through. I strangely “don’t care”. I care immensely about the job and the people… but the execs have zero influence over me… and I have no fear of them… and I shouldn’t admit this… but I heckle them a little bit because I’m so new… but it “digs in a little” about doing the right thing.
They had me read all these “soft skill” books and more meetings about meetings… and I… out loud… in front of everybody said “Do you even believe what you’re reading??? You’re not staying above board here.”
They speak very little to me and are very respectful… of me… but not of anyone else and I irritate them with their processes. (It’s what I’m there for… right???)
Last thing I said to their HR director was their “homestead was on fire and everyone needs to show up to work!” because the execs are still trying that hybrid thing but the business is so messed up. Everyone needs to be there… every day… and put in their hours to fix this. I found out today… they’re golfing every Friday afternoon at 11 AM. It’s galling.
Lol… I truly am surprised they haven’t fired me… but I’m “working” and improving things… so I’m a big irritant. I recovered $10,000 for them in 2 months… found $7500 in a single machine misbilling, am finishing up recoding and writing up a parts rebate process with the accounting manager… and all the salesmen who were probably supposed to hate me… love me. So I’m paying for myself and winning friends and influencing people.
I think once you get passed a certain age… at least in my case… I just don’t care anymore. I love God and I believe… so He’ll take care of me. They can try to do their worst but they just end up looking ridiculous.
Please… fire me… and I won’t have to clean up the mess!

Thank you for asking. Ryan is mostly healed, he will have permanent nerve damage in his lower back and leg. He’s still young and so it’s not holding him back by too much. I don’t know how he’s dealing with it in his heart, soul and mind.
I pray for the Lord’s Mercy on his heart, soul, and mind. He has been spared for God’s Purpose for him… and by God’s Great Love. I hope he’s reminded of that often.

As a boy, I recognized that the beautiful natural world and abundant life were created and felt awe, joy and appreciation. As a teenager, I spoke, from my heart, to God to express my gratitude for his creation, my life, and sending his son Jesus for our redemption; to ask forgiveness of my sins through Jesus and repent; to make my heart pure for Jesus to live and shine his light, truth and courage through me; and guide my life. The next day, I arrived home to find that my father had left. I felt stunned but also calm. One year later, I was injured playing a sport, ending all school athletics for me. I began to live only within the confines of the tangible world and popular culture while neglecting my spiritual dimension, drifting away from who I am as a person with little inner happiness. My life was off course and going nowhere. Then, I received a tremendous gift of love from my future wife coming into my life. Soon after, a phone call with my mom regarding the continuing bad effects of their divorce caused me to clearly see and feel the true sadness of my family break-up, and I sobbed uncontrollably, finally releasing my pent-up feelings. I earnestly prayed to renew my relationship with Jesus/God and specifically and clearly asked for guidance for my life. A few weeks later, my future wife asked me what I really wanted to become. The answer came up out of me as if it had been there all along waiting to be acknowledged as though I had been hardwired to follow a course but was only then realizing it. From that point forward, all I needed to do was my best through the challenges and sometimes struggles that awaited me, and I was provided with the strength and support to succeed in a career and provide for my future family. During our wedding ceremony at the church, I was unexpectedly overcome by what I believe was the Holy Spirit, the power and intensity of which felt stronger than love. Witnessing my children being born granted a rare glimpse into the miracle and truth of creation, with no faith needed, and that love is the most powerful force on earth as I would (to this day) give up my life, in an instant, without any hesitation, to protect my child and spouse. When each of two elderly family members passed away, there was a surprising sense of peace, a holy peace, that permeated the entire room at the moment of death, and for several minutes after, that all those present felt and acknowledged in whispers to each other. Right after my mom’s funeral driving home, I received a clear, telepathic communication in her voice that said, “It’s okay honey, I’m alright”, which is exactly the way she would say it. Looking back, it is clear to me that a path was provided for my life that was way beyond chance or self-realization. The contrast between before versus after receiving the gift of my wife, renewing my relationship with Jesus/God and asking for guidance was much too great to attribute to me alone or random events.

colorado is a state i’ve never been to .. but would love to experience .. those mountains.
Well my friend I don’t know your situation but all it takes is the desire some time, a vehicle and some gasoline.
Can camp with minimal gear for about another month or so after that winter comes early.
I wish you all could once experience if you haven’t a clear night at high altitude in the high mountains away from the city lights, ……….you will be amazed at how many more stars there are than can be seen at lower altitudes or in the midst of nearby light pollution.
One of the most amazing nights of my experience was in the high mountains of New Mexico during a meteor shower. Unforgettable memory, eerie feeling to see up close and constant streaks that seemed right overhead.
The aurora borealis is another phenomena that has to be experienced to be believed.
