Johnson trying to justify his existence here.
And cover for his big whopping lie to MAGA voters at Christmas 2024! The snake that touted his Bible the first day so flagrantly… then evil clown tried to hide a huge lie behind Jesus in a manger! Serpent Mike Johnson
1st John 4:10
They could have repealed the entire “inflation reduction act” using reconciliaton. A simple majority. Instead they went on endless vacations. People talking about it now are fraudsters. Where they been? Now they want to use it to pretend they have principles. Ick.
I am ao tired of you back seat quarterbacks.
You sit in your living room and think you know everything.
Why don’t you get out there and do what they do?
Run for office. Do something.
But I’m tired of all your complaints. Really tired of it.
Why don’t you figure out work around instead of just complaining and bitching?
What about complaints about someone else’s posts?
Because Johnson lied horribly about the reconciliation at Christmas 2024… don’t you remember how badly Johnson lied… said it was a few pages… and it ended up being thousands of pages…. Do you have the memory of a fish… it was a big deal at Christmas!!! And would have pardoned all those involved with those throwing the J6’ers in jail! Have you no memory of the evil that was in that CR at 2024 YE? Your words are appalling!!! Speak w a J6 prisoner & then you’ll shut your mouth!
Wow.. why guys try to do what he does. It’s insane working with all these people. Do you think just a magic wand?
It’s very difficult from where I see it.
I remember everything. However, I also remember how tight and close these margins are.
And nothing is going to get perfect with all the people involved.
One step at a time it’s not gonna be one magical bill that’s gonna make everything happen
Take a deep breath, step back and see what’s been accomplished.
Sorry, I to correct my post. Just couldn’t figure out how to do it.
NorthernBelle, when you first post your comment there is a “gear” icon at the right margin area (just a little below your comment). When you hover over that gear box, there is a dropdown “edit”. Click on that and you can edit your post.
That edit option is available for about 3-4 minutes after you post.
Thank you. It’s so kind of you to tell me that. I deeply appreciate it.
You’re welcome!
Mike Johnson should only get brass knuckles & tacks from MAGA voters after CR Dec 2024… so I completely disagree w you… b!tch all you want at Johnson until he leaves once & for all… and Jerome Powell too!
1st John 4:10
When a body is closely divided, every member uses their leverage, as do the party whips. That’s just politics. I get the “Mr Smith Goes to Washington”/ HS civics “how a bill becomes law” idea but this is reality.
I believe the “few pages” was about the appropriations bill (FY2025 Full-Year Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act P.L. 119-4) NOT the OBBB. (And it’s 39 pages.)
The People’s Bill… at least the sane ones.
its always the same – the battle of the informed by this group versus the informed by that group.
truth is irrelevant.
The only relevancy to this body of people is 💰.
One money bag is so yesterday. Now it’s a million per CONgress critter and a pardon if they get caught up in the sting.
We interrupt this program for breaking news….President Trump doesn’t do pardons for criminals!!!!!!!
Rope’m up and tie’m down……NOW.
The truth of the matter is the truth doesn’t matter.

Harris is the one and only Republican in Congress from Maryland (not my district) and he picks the Losers to support….
Not only do I have a demented communist as my home district’s Rep. (Jaimie RaTskin), I can’t even count on my state’s only GOP Rep to do the right thing.
Charles Carroll, Leonard Calvert, Samuel Chase, William Paca, Thomas Stone…must all be rolling over in their graves for what this colony, originally founded so that British Roman Catholics could worship freely in peace, has become.
Oh dear Gussie, GB…what a misery and a downer for a rep.
The ones you mention most likely aren’t the only ones rolling I can assure you. We’re so off the original course set for us I do wonder if we can ever recover.
The whole show is a disgusting spectacle.
Not to mention Howard’s war-like thrust.
Yes. We need John Eager Howard’s leadership in Congress more than ever! A champion for the state and against authoritarian federal government.
I am good with disagreement. The deadline is that set by the government itself. I’m pretty much open to them discussing and arguing. I think it’s healthy.
It is healthy.
I don’t disagree.
But there is, as always, so much subterfuge, obfuscation, game playing, skullduggery, and rank ideology involved…
I have yet to hear any healthy, sane, CIVIL (!!!) discussion, which would make a refreshing change.
Here’s a much saner view of President Trump’s politics, including a good explanation of the BBB.
The post says 4 left, so who are the 4? Andrew Clyde has been great for GA, so I pray he is not on the list. He is pro 2A and a Veteran.
Well, those 4 R’s should really re-think their dilemma.
It’s not a brilliant strategy to underestimate President Trump….not good at all.
Amen.

Do you trust PDJT to do the best thing to MAGA with this BBB? Thank you.
From 360 Kaja Kallas to Ursula Von Liar to the RINOS of CONgress, there really isn’t much difference.
Smoke’em out, President Trump…..but leave a little bit for us.
The Senate Republicons gutted the bill using the excuse that the Parliamentarian said things were not allowed thereby setting up the Bill for failure because the House wanted those things in it.
Spineless backstabbing Senators who could have ignored her but didn’t.
And they slipped in poison pills that would rile up folks.
The house needs to rework the bill to what they sent over to start with and say we passed the Big Beautiful Bill.
Now you senators need to get back to Washington and pass it. Let them be the ones getting squeezed.
The senate filled it full of unacceptable crap knowing the house would be the one to get squeezed and you can see right here that people are falling for their scam and attacking house members for pointing out their treachery and calling for change.
The house needs to put it back in their lap.
(From “AI”)
Gambling markets have reflected a growing confidence in the bill’s passage, with odds suggesting a 75% probability of it being signed into law by the July 4 deadline. This sentiment aligns with the reality that, despite the bill’s unpopularity and the complexity of its provisions, the political machinery behind it has proven resilient.
who are the holdouts?
the usual suspects?
Can we call them or are their voice mails full?
From what I can tell, President Trump and his A-Team are in “talks” with the 4 hold-outs.
I did read the names earlier but I cannot recall where, so I don’t have a link handy.
At this point, the names are not significant.
They’re just playing their game for “give-me”……
give it to them, then circle back and destroy their personal life later
according to TGP, these are the holdouts, but I think a few have already changed their vote to Yes like Biggs & Meuser: https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2025/07/house-freedom-caucus-slams-senate-version-trump-backed/
See above where I’ve listed them 👍🏻
Their phone lines are busy. My friend in the House said long ago that most members have them “busied out” prior to and during contentious votes.
Thank You, Sundance!
May The LORD BLESS!
I think 47 made a good decision when he embraced Johnson and is working with him as the Speaker. So far he is getting high marks. Perhaps he will surprise all of us, much like Secretary Rubio has.
Oh, and don’t watch too closely as the sausage is being made. It’s like getting upset over every ball and strike. You’ll wear yourself out. Better to get some popcorn, or a hotdog, maybe another beer, and just sit back and watch the game.
beer and hotdog.
One beer would just tick me off! 😉
lets go Team Massie! use your ten to block this so President Trump can have weak leverage when realigning the global deals and trade.
make us proud you budget warriors!
Yeah. Bunch of F’ing idiots.
Yes they are and they assume we are even bigger f ing idiots.
I assume there is a /s at the end of that? Tongue-in-cheek does not always come through the written word.
yep
The ten Republicans trying to kill the bill:
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2025/07/house-freedom-caucus-slams-senate-version-trump-backed/
I’m surprised to see Lauren Boebert there- did she fall off the MAGA train?
I have no idea what goes through that head.
Not much, evidently…
The better question is: What does she want?
nor does she…
Sorry, trapper…didn’t scroll and listed them above.
I can tell you Andrew Clyde’s constituents in Georgia don’t want a 60% tax hike because he thinks there should be more budget cuts.
Where have you seen anything about a 60% tax hike? Pray tell.
The lowest earners would see a 2-3% increase in taxes.
We love Clyde in GA. True patriot!
Whittled down to 4 now.
President Trump is having to whip the holdouts….
what is it that Johnson does, again?
He has an incredibly thin majority as Speaker, and President Trump currently has the momentum as President and Party Leader.
Well, for one thing, he’s working right along side our President to get the job done.
Why did he not whip the senate to keep the crap out of the bill.
The house passed the bill. The senate destroyed it.
Put the blame where it belongs.
Any possibility of getting some fed-up centrist Democrats to cross over and vote yes on this? We know there is great upheaval in the DSA owned democrat party with some old liners NOT happy with it. Time to call them to step up for their country?
no.
Like a camel through the eye of a needle!
Thanks for the laugh, I needed that!
Dem Congressmen never stray from the plantation. It is safer for them to just run with the herd, no thinking required.
Just like the SCOTUS DEI troika of Kagan, Sotomayor and Brown. Not an independent thought in any of their mushy skulls.
Democrats are hanging back and letting this be a Republican party vote.
What a crock!! These republicans that are stonewalling need to be called out so we, the people, know who they are!
The Republicans control the House, Senate and White House. They are on the cusp of allowing the largest tax increases in history. Pathetic.
What did anyone expect from corrupt theatrical Crap Weasels?
This stupid shit will play out all week in order to steal all of the media oxygen and deny President Trump any real celebration of our country’s 249th birthday on Friday.
Every microphone will be met with stupid questions about BBB, instead of, what kinda party is the White House going to throw for America on her BIRTHDAY?
I despise all 535.
This bill is President Trump’s agenda. Just say yes and take the win.
Trump’s agenda is removing no tax on social security from the bill? Really? Trumps’s agenda is preserving green new deal funding? You sure?
Trump’s agenda is preserving Medicaid for certain illegals? Didn’t know that. Trump’s agenda is preserving government paid transgender surgeries? Who knew? Me thinks a little more off-plantation reading is needed here.
when a democrat speaker has some in-fighting, they bring the fire to the worms working to derail. All these creeps want to go back to the house again in 2026. Just light their rumps up like a sparkler. Why does Trump have to threaten these people? WTF does Johnson do anyway? He’s #3 in-line for the Presidency? God help us. Hopelessly impotent GOP.
Lesser of the two evils people say. Really?
Perhaps, with the fact that Trump is more popular with all Republicans than Reagan was, (63% strongly approving) whilst 95% of Trump endorsees winning, it’s a case of, as one commentator said, ‘When you mess with Trump, you go in the grinder to quote Good Burger’.
Don’t think many nays want to end up as ground beef!
Mike Johnson has taken a lot of heat on these pages, but given his predicament, I think he’s doing a brilliant job. Seems like a genuine, happy MAGA warrior that has our President’s back. Unlike that POS lyin’ Paul Ryan we were saddled with in Trump 1.0.
Not to forget, he is working with a slim majority.
100% agree
PollyPockets is way over his skis…..hes not man enough for job…Rep house members have no respect for him or Potus Trump.
Reading articles that mercenaries(Bannon, Tucker, MTG and Musk) are doing all they can to destroy maga…idk
Bill has excellent illegal alien stuff and we need it,now.
I voted for deportations /tax cuts…I want it passed
Speaker Johnson got the bill, with the illegal alien stuff, through the house in the first place to get to this point.
Musk wrote @X that he was 100% funding Massie for re-election.
Is Musk paying others to kill the bill?
Massie never votes maga and is a big blowhard along w/DipChipRoy; Both DeSimps.
Pass the Bill and get them deported
He can fund them all he wants in his third party.
No one is required to vote for them.
It took 14+ months of gyrations to get to here. A Bill that barely does what we have got to get done in order to hit a viable window for President Trumps Outstanding Rescue Mission. The worst part is relying on the Incumbent Party.. to be frank I hope both Chambers have to rebook their vacations.
Greed & Politics get in the way of doing the right thing…so few decent people in House & Senate… most are owned by special interests and/or CCP.
This is the first time I’ve seen Republicans essentially arguing to let the tax cuts expire. The 2017 tax cuts and money for border wall and immigration enforcement is i think about 85% of the spending in the bill.
I had the tv on briefly. I heard AOC making a speech and ending it with “this bill is a deal with the devil”. She needs to have her butt whipped for referring to our president as the devil. Her lack of respect as a member of congress is over the top.
She is a ….
I haven’t seen a single republican argue to let the tax cuts expire. Perhaps you could provide an actual quotation from one. Even an essential quote might be nice.
When Rand Paul and Ron Johnson and other fiscal hawks complain about the bill’s spending too much and adding to the deficit and debt they’re talking about the tax cuts and money for immigration enforcement. According to the CBO the 2017 tax cuts are the primary driver of the projected deficit increase at a “cost” of 3.8 trillion over 10 years…and that is what those Republicans are referring to.
Don’t believe the CBO; always way off the mark….on purpose…
CBO is not counting any tariff revenue AND to be more specific, those fiscal HAWKS so concerned today were not so concerned all those years of yesterday…been there many, many years…causing fiscal issues.
Agreed.
Im just curious about what specific spending in the bill they are protesting. If it’s not the meat of the bill which is the 2017 tax cuts and border wall/immigration enforcement what part is it that is so offensive to them they are willing to risk torpedoing the whole thing?
Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater.
The good parts like permanent tax cuts and border security, among others, are well worth the the yes vote.
Not to mention the income flowing into our coffers from the newly initiated tariff negotiations call for trusting President Trump’s judgement. He is intuitive and has uncanny business sense. He’s right almost all of the time. I can’t recall him being wrong yet.
I won’t pretend this bill is perfect, but it solidifies many of MAGA’s priorities. It needs to pass and massie can get lost.
It is so frustrating to watch and sometimes i go a little overboard with my ruminations, as you can tell by my previous post on another SD post, but I feel justified having kept my eye on the House at CSPAN. For hours now the Republican vote has been at 216. What game are they playing?
The vote started a little after 2:00 pm Eastern Time. It is now 8:17 pm ET. This is tawdry and unforgivable. I would dearly love to know the names of these four Congresspersons .
The hold outs are the alligator emoji’s. Mr Alligator Alcatraz knifing the Pres. and the people. I’ll do a slight change to a David Plouff quote. “It is not enough to simply beat DeSantis. He must be destroyed thoroughly. His kind must not rise again.”
For those Republicans who kill this bill, there will be a lot of money flowing by to make sure they never get re-elected. I remember my art class in high school 60 years ago, when I was trying to finish the “perfect art piece,” and the teacher telling me over and over, “you have to know when to stop. Otherwise you will never finish it.” What a major piece of truth!
We’ve heard it said many times, and on these forums, that we can’t let the perfect become the enemy of the good. And if that truism ever had more weight than it does now, I can’t remember when.
Democrats can always count on a cadre of Republicans to pass whatever monstrosity they put forward. Remember that 13 Republicans helped to pass Biden’s infrastructure bill, which would have otherwise died due to Democrat defections. When do Republicans ever see that kind of participation from Democrats on a significant piece of their legislation? And yet, when they have a chance to do something good, even if not perfect, suddenly too many of them become purists, tossing aside all the proposed good because the perfect, which they never demand from Democrat efforts, is not offered.
Sometimes you have to take the win and realize, though you might not have reached the goal line, you’ve advanced the ball toward it. Politics is give and take and Republicans, as a rule, don’t get a lot of wins. Maybe some are so used to losing that they just feel more comfortable having turned something winnable into a loss. But for the sake of the country, this cannot be one of those times. Sometimes you have to bring home a good win, even if it’s not the perfect win you advocated for, and then continue the fight having banked a few wins in your column.
If you don’t understand that dynamic, then, as I’ve said before, maybe a new perspective, that of a civilian rather than a Washington denizen, is what you need most.
J
Its the POTUS’ bill. If you want something different, run for POTUS. Otherwise, play your part and approve it.
None of these clowns would ever be Elected and they know it.
Some of them received less that 300,000 votes – like Massie.
That guy thinks he can screw over all 78 million PDJT voters and survive.
The Republicans need to unify behind President Trump and the BBB. To not do so would be to snatch political defeat from the jaws of victory.
It is at 220 GOP now on C-Span now!! Finally!!! About time.
I think this is some sort of “test vote”…the real deal is yet to come…maybe later tonight. But I think this is a good sign…
It was on an amendment to the bill. It passed but I didn’t catch what it was
It was for an amendment to the amendment of the rules . Not the bill itself.
Thanks
Starting to notice a pattern here…
Massie’s “principled” votes keep helping Democrats stop Trump and the MAGA agenda
Voted against funding the border wall
Voted to increase Biden’s debt ceiling
Doesn’t believe 2020 was rigged
It’s almost as if…
https://truthsocial.com/@DC_Draino/114786258876121716
Rand Paul in the Senate plays the same game: “muh principles” and doing this for years now, and still amazes me that people continue to fall for it. It really is battered conservative syndrome!
Typical Republican circular firing squad.
Typical Republicans who can’t see the forest through the trees and acting like they’re stuck in 1994.
The “no’s” are forcing Pres Trump to burn political capital by holding a gun to the heads of middle class taxpayers to achieve a goal they are NEVER, EVER, going to achieve.
It’s quixotic.
The house is burning down around us and they’re holding up the fire chief because they don’t like the diameter of the hose.
Perfect analogy.

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to Where We Stand on the Big, Beautiful Bill
The House GOP leadership goal is to still debate and pass the bill tonight.
But if they had the votes, the House would have voted already.
They don’t have the votes – yet. But House GOPers are working toward that. My crystal ball pegs a vote sometime deep in the overnight or around dawn if they are able to pry this loose.
Frankly, the “Stockholm Syndrome” will likely kick in the later Members are moored here. After a while, they might begin to agree with their captors. That often happens with late night sessions after Members get tired and tempers are frayed.
Here’s where things stand now on the floor.
The House is now frozen on ANOTHER procedural vote which began today at 2:07 pm et. The House could close that vote at any time. But House GOP leaders don’t want to do so. That would trigger a test vote to start debate on the bill. Republicans don’t have the votes for that. So, they are in a holding pattern on the previous vote.
This vote to make a technical change to the “rule” has a chance to become the longest vote in House history. The House could cross that threshold at 9:28 pm et. The House established the current record for the longest vote on a motion to adjourn in 2021. That vote lasted seven hours and 21 minutes.
So we expect the House to sit on the old vote that’s been open for hours now until they get a deal. Then they will close this vote and vote on the test vote to actually get to the bill.
If the House clears the test vote, it can then debate the bill.
That debate is allotted for an hour. But it will take longer than that. Plus, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) is expected to consume an hour on his own via the “Magic Minute” afforded top party leaders. It’s called a “Magic Minute” because the leaders are only given a “minute” to speak. But as a courtesy, they allow the leaders to speak as long as they wish.
Once debate on the bill concludes, the House then goes to final passage – if they have the votes.
It’s about the math.
The GOP can only lose three votes and still pass the bill. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) remains a nay. House Freedom Caucus Chairman Andy Harris (R-MD) voted “present” on the House version in May. Harris signaled earlier he wasn’t to yes yet
Good explanation.
John Fredericks is spot on here in his update:
Freedom Caucus Obstructionists Are Risking Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill”
Freedom Caucus holdouts Lauren Boebert, Andrew Clyde, Scott Perry, Andy Ogles, and Chip Roy are threatening to tank the “One Big Beautiful Bill” as it heads to a House vote. We can only lose three votes, and these Freedom Caucus members are playing games, grandstanding on social media. What’s their plan? If they sink this bill, it’s back to the Senate, where it barely passed thanks to Lisa Murkowski’s Alaska carve-outs. No tax cuts, a government shutdown, and a Democratic midterm sweep could follow, along with Trump’s impeachment on the third day. This isn’t a perfect bill, but it’s Trump’s bill backed by 77 million votes.

🚨 BREAKING: All Republicans have VOTED.
The Big Beautiful Bill has the votes to PROCEED, 220-212.
To PROCEED – yes
But apparently not to PASS. Hence the delay in “closing” the vote.
See my post above at the 8:56 time stamp for Chad Pergrams detailed explanation.
Watching the sausage get made is ugly….but the end product can be quite tasty! 😉
It looks like the House is ready to vote tonight. We had GREAT conversations all day, and the Republican House Majority is UNITED, for the Good of our Country, delivering the Biggest Tax Cuts in History and MASSIVE Growth. Let’s go Republicans, and everyone else – MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/114786643420185373
As a poker playing conservative, there is apparently one provision that was slipped in by the Senate that changes what you can deduct. The existing law was already annoying because you can only deduct your loses if you itemize. But now you can only deduct 90% of your loses if you itemize?!? WTF!
So now you basically get taxed on the 10% you didn’t make.
This is part of the problem with our stupid process. 900 page bill with core stuff the president wants with a ton of shit everyone else shoves in. With just a few days to review/debate the content.
Basically, you have to pass it to know what is in it.
And who the hell inserts a clause like that and why?
Some might ask why you can even deduct gambling losses from your taxes in the first place…
Some might ask why you can even deduct hobby expenses from your taxes… Try not to legislate your morality.
And for informational input, IF you can itemize then you can only write off your losses against your winnings. Except for the itemization perspective this seems fair.
Let’s say I go to Vegas and play 10 poker tournaments at $100 a pop. I’ve spent or loss $1000. If one of those tournaments I won $2000 then what was the balance of my week?
Math is simple, I’ve earned $1000 and would pay taxes on that $1000. But with this stupid insertion, I have to pay taxes on $1100?!? Where is this extra $100 of “income” I’m paying taxes on?
No, this is a stupid insertion by someone(s) in the Senate. Has nothing to do with trumps agenda.
YES!!!! Make it happen. I am very excited.
They (those pols, those reps of the people /s ) better get it done or face some wrath.
House taking key procedural vote now …
Well yeah…they want to get out of Dodge….it’ll be a nice 4 day weekend…
Words not necessary……..
🚨 PRESIDENT TRUMP: Go Republicans, beat the Crooked Democrats tonight! PRO-GROWTH tax cuts never fail.

This happened in the Senate, when I think it was Johnson voted no and then went back and changed it to yes.
This is ridiculous. They are playing games. They think they are so important instead of looking at the greater good of the whole package for the American people. This is just the framework. There will be follow-up Amendments, Bills, etc. that tweaks what needs to be tweaked in this one. These numbskulls can’t seem to see that or don’t want to.
NY Times update:
“Vote counts are always subject to change, but right now, four Republicans have voted against a measure to bring the bill to the floor for a debate.
Speaker Mike Johnson has been in a fairly lengthy conversation with one of them, Representative Andrew Clyde of Georgia, at one point showing him something on his phone. The Republicans can only lose three votes if all the Democrats are present and voting no.
But members can switch their choice at any time before the vote is closed.”
https://www.nytimes.com/live/2025/07/02/us/trump-policy-bill-news
Chip Roy and Andy Harris haven’t even voted yet per NY Times.
Really not sure what they hope to gain at this point. Chip Roy keeps wanting to push some measures the parliamentarian already disallowed.
My worst fear is that the hold-outs might have been paid a significant sum to tank the bill. For now, I’ll keep hope that this is just the way the sausage is made.
