1992 – I remember how viscerally angry some firefighters that were the son and friends of the son of a friend of mine who were so angry after the Rodney King Riots that this Democratic candidate for President, Bill Clinton, went on a talk show to meet with gang members who were thought to have been part of the horror show, firing on firefighters rushing to put out all the fires . . . so then, the firefighters needed police to cover for them but police were needed everywhere else, too.
I too remember that.
Anyone who would intentionally harm a firefighter or first responder while they are in the process of a rescue should be ………………well, I’m trying to be Christian here, but you get the idea.
My son is a fire fighter and I pray daily for his safety .

I’m not a Texan but I know a little about the downside of Islam from having researched it ever since I read that frightening documentary (not available any more) about how they’ve been trying to get here, to America, for 1400 years and what that would mean.
According to google, when they reach 16%, they can take over. If we don’t educate the american public, they will take over.
I’ve been ranting and raving about this for over 15 years. It’s done no good. I can’t get through their thick liberal skulls. And that includes even my brother and SIL because they think the muslims are such “nice” people.

I lived out in the Philly suburbs about a mile from Millbourne, which is a tiny borough just outside the Philly city limits. As the story says, it is about eight blocks long or one-tenth of a square mile (no large high rises, either).
How they thought they could stuff the place with extra residents, I don’t know, but then in the Philadelphia area, no one stops to think, “Can we pull this vote fraud off?” They just do it.

In the late 60’s, along with my sisters and friends, we would catch the P and W trolley (we called it the Pig and Whistle) in King Manor, a suburb of Philly between King of Prussia and Bridgeport, and go to 69th Street to an under 21 club known as The Electric Factory, also American Bandstand was located near 69th Street before moving to California.
You brought back some memories for this senior lady. I’ve not been back there since 1998, so probably would, more than likely, not recognize any thing and sounds like I really would not want to be there now!

I learned about money in the judicial system in real time. My brother stupidly got a DUI in Fairfax, VA about 15 years ago. We hired him the top lawyer in the County for defense. The lawyer asked for $xxxx extra to get his charges dropped. I asked him why would that amount get his charges dropped? He then proceeded to tell me how he’s been at cocktail parties with most every judge in the state and watched them doing illicit drugs as well as drinking and driving etc etc. He said that amount he asked us for was the current judges “price”. We didn’t mince words, just got him the money and sure enough, charges were dropped down to a speeding ticket essentially.
I was completely jaded by this, and since then have had even less respect for the system then before.
Its the Chicago Way…but at least there is no excuse for not having enough time to work on his appeals.

Great idea, it would be an added bonus if the members of congress and the senate were required to take turns, with each reading one page of the bill out loud until the whole bill was completely read. It would give us a look at the intelligence and age cognitive capability of those that hold the office. It would also motivate them to make the bills smaller and easier to read.

Brown-Jackson aside, I wish that the media also would focus on Sotomayor’s dissent. I realize that most are not deep thinkers and are going for the cool clicks. But I think they’re missing something more important.
Why. Because the issue of birthright citizenship has not been fully argued yet. Nevertheless, Sotomayor repeatedly stated that “the issue is settled”. In doing so, in addition to that her writing misrepresented multiple cited sources, she indicated that she has PREJUDGED an issue that was not then before the court. IN THE SAME CASE!
I don’t know about all jurisdictions, but generally statements by a judge that a full and fair hearing and impartial analysis will not be granted, i.e. the judge has made up his mind before hearing a case, is grounds for disqualification.
Sotomayor must be forced to recuse herself from the deciding the birthright citizenship issue! What she wrote was not passing dicta in some unrelated earlier case. Rather, her entire hysterical dissent with regard to a tangential procedural issue in the very same case was grounded in her prejudgment of the substantive issues in the same case!
The media groundswell , instead of doing the he-he-ha-has about the other incompetent on the court should be focusing on making a loud noise about this instead. Why aren’t they.
(And, by the way, for those wondering, if Sotomayor’s dissent was so egregious, why did Barrett not slam her the way she slammed Brown-Jackson, that’s most likely because Barrett restricted herself to addressing the issue at hand., which is what Brown-Jackson veered off on.)

That dissent was one of the scariest things I have ever read because of what it portends for the country. The fact that KBJ does not want to deal with “mind-numbing, tedious, boring legalese“. SCOTUS is the highest court in the land and the nation’s final arbiter on all things legal. Imagine an architect or engineer who didn’t want to deal with “mind-numbing, tedious, boring Calculus.” With two more justices like this the country would be doomed. (sigh)

This is so sad. I’ve watched a couple of news conferences by the CDA (Coeur d’Alene) sheriff and the shooter was neutralized yesterday. To think that maybe, (this is my thought) this person set the fire to lure fire fighters out there to then shoot, is maniacal and evil. I don’t know if this is the case, but we will learn more today and in days to come. For now, I wonder if this person isn’t the same sort of person that set fires in LA. These people do these things to cause mental chaos and lots of destruction. Up here in North Idaho most people are friendly, independent, and will help a neighbor anytime. This occurrence (for me) makes my “this thing or person does not belong” radar go off, if this makes sense. Almost like it’s deliberate and targeted to cause as much damage as possible. Also, psychological. Hopefully, we can learn more about who this person was and why it was done. For now, dear Jesus, I pray your protection, balm, and loving presence around the fire fighter’s families. I also pray for the sheriff offices and all people working together to solve this very unusual occurrence and that they have wisdom to ask the right questions and find answers.
