Clue ‘ya. A whole lot of Muslims are in America – not to inflict mayhem upon America – but because they don’t want to live in countries where people like these hold sway. Never mind what happened in the twelfth bloody century, or in the many equally-bloody centuries since then.
Do not typecast “Muslims” as closet radicals who secretly believe and are ready to carry out what these madmen – and yes, they are “madmen,” not “respected leaders” – believe that “Allah” told them all to do. Most of the time you cannot ascribe one trait to a huge group of individuals.
I have seen enough to ascribe a muderous ideology to all Muslims. All.
I had Muslims in my family. Now they say they are simply “believers.” It took 15 years for that transformation. And still, they do not think the west is just, nor capable of being anything but an unjust, evil empire.

You will not get an answer. Mostly just rants consisting of willful pride and hatred. IF you take the time to test them out of their rants, you may get to a place where you understand what has likely occurred. Then you start to read their “book.” And then you study their “scholars.” And then you do critical comparisons and analysis. And then you come to the only conclusion possible.
And that is this: Arab people are pathologically prideful. Not your run-of-the-mill, sinful pride that we all suffer with -no. Arabs possess such extreme levels of willful pride that they’re perfectly willing to lie to themselves and the world about what they “believe” and how Islam came to humanity. Their “book” gives them away, for Allah is the “greatest among the deceivers.” This is why every culture that chooses Islam and the Quran over Christianity and the Bible becomes toxic.
And, btw, at some point in time, the majority of Iranians did choose Islam.
Remember the Bourbon Street truck massacre to begin this very year.
Oh there are plenty of muslims in the US who will go along with the crazy leaders. There have been many converts to islam in the prison system. Look up Islamburg in NY. They have been training, military style, for their coming jihad. Whenever you get enough of them together they’ll want sharia law above the Constitution. Islam is not a religion, it is a violent and evil political system.
Remember the January 1 truck massacre on Bourbon Street.
No typecasting needed. Ask any of them here in America. if they believe Sharia law is the supreme law over any other laws anywhere including the U.S. Constitution. See how they react and what answers you get. Ask those from the religious leaders at mosques to the neighborhood friendlies. Watch their reactions and understand their answers.
It’s an interesting conversation to have with different religious groups and their respective beliefs. Only the Islamic tenets of faith meld into and try to replace the secular laws of nations. The Muslim believers are especially interesting though. If you have access to them in a casual friendly way and you are not confrontational about it, then see if the opportunity to ask about Sharia law comes up. Not everyone has the opportunity to do this but it is quite fascinating.
Long ago in college, I was part of a group class project for a sociology class that studied different religions and how they fit into the secular world around them. It might be different now, but when the question about Sharia law was asked it was quite interesting to hear the similar answers we got from nearly all of the Muslim members we interviewed.
I see nothing in Deplorable’s post that is a typecast of ALL of anyone.
There are a LOT of muslims who are willing to inflict said mayhem and are very active and vocal about wanting to take over and institute sharia.
Nobody is “entitled” to call for assassination of Americans.

But “propaganda, in general” is a very fascinating topic. I have several excellent books in my personal library, and all of them are scary. Especially the “scholarly” ones.
Today, you are utterly surrounded by it, at every turn. Of course, you call it “media.” Or, a “government press announcement.” The stated purpose of the communication is to influence you, one way or another. “They” are doing it, and “We” are doing it, too. All the time. Everywhere. Everytime.
Every war has two fronts: the battle front, and the home front. Both must be carefully managed.
So, you simply have to: “think accordingly.” Where did “that thought in your head” come from? Is it really yours?
Particularly(!) when you feel “strongly motivated to act.” Propaganda doesn’t simply want you to think – it wants to persuade you to act. And, ideally, to persuade others to do the same.
The most effective is that which invokes a strong base emotional response…2020 is a perfect example of just how successful it is. The last 2 weeks are similar…

You know, the computer software industry (my industry …) has always shamelessly over-sold itself. All of the sudden, we claim to have invented “artificial intelligence.” Which, in real life, is simply a sophisticated form of pattern-matching. But we have no problems or ethical concerns with the hype: “surpass human intelligence,” “wipe out jobs,” “even lead to humanity’s downfall.”
You may recall that, 25 years ago, other people were “equally earnestly” telling us all that the world would end at the stroke of midnight on December 31, 1999, as every computer in the world forgot what year it was. (Even though no one seemed to think to look at their home-mortgage statement, which clearly listed a maturity date well into the “21st Century.”) There were no “ethical concerns” then, either. While we can all sort-of giggle at it now, at the time they were [trying their best to be …] “deadly serious.”
I made it a point to purchase every “doomsday book” that I could find at that time. I still have them in my library.
“AI” is really no different. Exciting new technological possibilities, but decidedly not an appropriate moniker to describe it.
Isn’t there a simple fix here? Just stop using it, kill it in effect. It can be stopped. Correct?

Per a recent article Meta’s “chatbot” has 100s of millions of users PER day – and it’s just one of many.
Companies around the world have committed hundreds of billions of dollars to build-out AI centers around the world THIS year per stated commitments during quarterly SEC filings.
Even if all individual consumers were to completely cease to use it, it would continue onward due to business and government uses.
The cretins in the House slipped in a provision that prevents ANY state regulations in regards to AI and “automated decision machines” for the next 10 years – well past the ‘event horizon’…
Currently it is neither sentient nor particularly intelligent – but nonetheless it is extremely dangerous and will only get more so over time – in addition to its voracious appetite for electricity and water resources which are already in critical supply.

It all started back when the stupid witch sued McDonald’s because SHE put hot coffee she bought between her legs while driving and burned herself.

My own view in the specific instance you mention is there is N-E-V-E-R a case where what someone says legally (i.e. not falling within the (too) broad defamation umbrella or direct call for violence) should be cause for fault in any way of the person saying it. This snowflake society with tissue thin skin needs to go.
Interesting facts in that case:
The hottest temperature coffee a human can consume without risking serious burns is generally around 140 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit.
The temperature McDonald’s served their coffee at the time the plaintiff was burnt…by a cup of hot coffee spilled in her lap…while being served at a drive through window…which severely limits ones ability to escape the hot coffee…was 190 degrees Fahrenheit….40-50 degrees F HOTTER than can be safely consumed.
McDonald’s officials testified under oath that the reason they served coffee so hot is because at that temperature the contents give off steam…this steam production was useful in marketing and helped drive sales.
So…in the name of profit…McDonald’s served coffee too hot to safely consume…that their employee then spilled said coffee while serving it to a woman…in a drive through…who had no way to escape the searing hot liquid spilled in her lap by the employee…and went through disfiguring burns to her thighs and groin area.
Many…myself included…think the victim here deserved every penny due to the forseeability that the reckless and dangerous practice of serving too hot coffee (190 degrees plus) in a drive through could lead to disfiguring burns…and instead of lowering the temperature the coffee was served at to a safe temperature…instead, McDonald’s chased profits over safety…served a dangerously hot coffee…in a drive through…and someone was injured as a result.

In a situation like this one, this is all that you should expect from either side, specifically including your own. Feed your “suspicious cat” plenty of food.
