Awwww… in my experience… I’ve had friends afraid of cats and my little floofy heads make a bee line for them! Up on their shoulders, grabbing at their heads, trying to groom them.
You can’t keep a good cat down and it’s near impossible to hate or be afraid of one when in proximity of mine.
Pet one. You’ll be glad you did and it’ll feel great to overcome the fear and indulge in the wonder that is affection from a feline.
There just miniature lions, tigers, and cougars… we can touch and hold!

A story for you…
After an especially difficult week, I’m sitting on my flower filled patio, watching a mallard and her 3 ducklings navigate the pond. I thought a small spider ran up to me on our patio table and instinctively… I blew it away from me.
However! It was no spider at all… but a very baby, baby Praying Mantis!!!
I’ve had about 8 of them now… come scurrying up to me, running up the side of my Bible, onto my hand and arm and I’m… ever so gently… placing them into my plant!
What a lucky, lucky show of God’s sweet blessings and they seem so docile!! This one didn’t want to remove itself from Savannah’s arm.
How delightful.
God Makes the coolest things. They’re little heads are darling and they just twist this way and that as if they count us as long lost friends.
The are no bigger than the size of a staple.
Love your story. Made me look up the difference between what I had on my screen last summer (walking stick) and your praying mantis.
They look very similar… don’t they? These have their little triangle heads.
I’ve had two here – one was small at about 4″ and one larger at 6″ and they stayed with us on the underside of my patio seat cushions all summer long. Couldn’t sit down without looking carefully so I wouldn’t squish them.
One small one on a screen last year.
These were just crazy… how they came running up to me sitting there. They’re not afraid at all and I guess from my reading make pretty good pets.
We don’t need anymore pets so no terrariums for us.

One year, late Fall, I dislodged a Praying Mantis egg case. Was so upset, I put it into a big mason jar on what was left of the twig it was on and poked holes in the lid. Put it in my laundry room and in the Spring, they hatched. Hundreds of them. I gently shook them onto my rose bushes. Don’t know where they all ended up, but I did have quite a few stick around my garden all summer.
That is awesome!!! They’re really fascinating… though I’ve heard of them eating small birds which makes me a little disturbed… or eating their own mates. Thankfully I’ve not seen that behavior. Just the cute behavior.
The elusive feral cat… only comes at her convenience and will not bow to anyone’s whims!

A family member used to live in Meridian Idaho. It was beautiful there. She had a big pellet burning, potbelly stove, in an old, old house. The first one awake had to go start the stove. I enjoyed those cold mornings with hot coffee while things warmed up.
It would have probably been a race … time to get heat from the pot belly stove or time to brew coffee. Overnight temp drops are usually 20 degrees and 30 is not unusual. Hot days usually start cool and temps don’t get obnoxious until 4 pm ish.

Had mini tornadoes plus wind shears here last Thursday evening. Hit quick, over quick. Barely got to the basement and it was over. Circular tracks in hay fields and many twisted off pines, oaks and even one huge old tough white oak wrung off. Lucky no structural damage. We were in a watch but never got to warning status. Praise the Lord.

The cat is running back and forth between the kitchen outside (I have the living room door open) meowing and it’s so quiet here I hear a lone bird chirping in the distance.
There’s a long road ahead purging our own Republic of the Communist scourge along with its various mercenary factions. Bombing a remote location in the desert won’t be on the menu. It’ll be the ugly, up close combat that humans historically engage in. So, no smiles here. Resolution.
