For the past several months it has become increasingly obvious that conservative America is witnessing a battle between two external elements, Qatar and Israel. MAGA has been stuck in the middle.
The battle has centered around political influence and seems most obvious in the framework of what are called “influencers” of public opinion. The tug-of-war has been happening for several months, and with Israel now targeting Iran militarily, the intentionally seeded dynamic has exploded around all platforms in the information space.
Friends, families and alliances are being fractured within the battle. In a very visible example, Tucker Carlson (team Qatar) uses his platform to target Ted Cruz (team Israel). WATCH:

I just looked for his show and found a site with probably all of his interviews, mostly actors, but he had a talent for digging deep and pulling fascinating conversation from his guests on a whole host of subjects.
But as luck woukd have it, I found one episode where he interviewed Enoch Powell, George Bush, and others which are historically relevant to our times now.

Meant merely as a “Really? That’s interesting…” side note….Cavett’s career took off when Carson took him on as one of his monologue writers and Johnny was very pleased with his work.
Cavett got the offer to do his own show and they both wished each other well. After the Dick Cavett show ended his first public appearance (I believe) was on The Tonight Show.

Cavett was a little too cerebral for most, but it was a nice alternative to Carson if you didn’t like the lineup. His Groucho Marx is considered comedic gold and one of the all-time great television interviews.

Great moment on the Cavett show back during the 60s. New Year’s Eve. Every other station engaged in hoopla, yelling, blowing horns, and of course having a grand old time (nothing wrong with that).

Dick Cavett was a great interviewer, and when he posited a question, it was always done respectfully.
His style was more conversation I always thought, Slumgullion. Artful and intimate as all good conversations are. One can’t be a master of it if one is formulating his next utterances instead of listening. Cavett was always genuinely listening. Something which no one seems to do any longer.
Ah yes, I watched his show because my dad did and it was what was on the tv. I learned a lot in my youth from that.
When I watch Carlson’s interviews, I see him allowing the guest to fully speak 95% of the time.

Haven’t listened to Tucker much recently. However, not so long ago I liked the way he conducted interviews. He was thoughtful and listened to what the guest had to say, no matter what that might be. Perhaps what you’re seeing now is frustration; perhaps it’s the real Carlson. Having no particular intellectual or emotional investment there, I just observe and keep Carlson’s background in mind.
We have the opportunity to be rid of cornyn by primarying him out with Ken Paxton. Let’s hope enough Texans have seen the light and will vote for Paxton!

I first noticed it (maybe I’m slow, but I seldom watch him) in his interview with Jeff Sachs. All war is bad, and there is no cause worth fighting for.
Qatar gives more money to the Muslim terrorist groups that target America or our assets, than any of the other Muslim states if I remember correctly.
Israel is the only government in the region that is similarly aligned constitutionally, and our only true ally in all the Middle East. We have been mutually assisting each other for decades, much of it in intelligence gathering. Qatar is buying influence with tons of cash and the money grubbers are genuflecting.
Life isn’t simple or straightforward. Especially as we don’t live in a vacuum. Different nations, wildly different cultures and religions, but all with the same focus on self interests. And each believing theirs are superior to the rest. We do not live in a monochrome world, though if the evil which seeks to rule us all under the banner of “Globalism” has its way, those of us on the lower rungs will suffer the same fate as populations before us have done under despotic governance.
So we have to choose allies against the murderous factions seeking to crush then rule over us.
I am horrified to read the comments here of those who judgementally condemn Israel when this country has a long and terrible contemporary history of involving itself in the affairs of other nations…and not for the better.

How hard is it to understand that each nation should be expected to act in its own best interest, and when those interests merge in a win-win dynamic, you work together?
The corollary is that when one nation wants to wipe another off the face of the earth and is developing nuclear weapons and a system to deliver them, when diplomacy fails, what comes next? And if force must be used, what is the resolution? Trump illustrated this with “make a deal.” You won’t? Then unconditionally surrender. That is how you avoid endless wars. I don’t know enough about the true immanence of Iran’s nuclear program to come to a conclusion about whether this situation is being dealt with appropriately. I do believe that Iran must not be allowed to go nuclear. The Mullahs have always lied. They said they would create a free and open society, but as soon as they got in in 1979 the bloody purge began, and it has never ended. But how close they are to nukes is a guess at this point, since the signals are conflicting.

“Civilian” aircraft have been departing Iran over the past few days, despite the airspace being formally being locked down and Israel’s complete dominance of same. In other words, regime rats have been fleeing their “sinking ship” and Israel has been allowing it to happen.
