To some extent, this works. As a Southern Californian, I’ve been bombarded by people around the country asking me if I’m okay. Of course, I’m okay. I live among rich people who like their Chardonnay oaky and their illegal alien domestic help cheap and compliant. They won’t let that nonsense happen in my neighborhood. Hell, my liberal neighbors would call the local SWAT team in if poor people knocked over one of their “Hate Has No Home Here” signs. The violence is happening downtown, where practically nobody lives except bums and a few urban pioneers, as well as in some scruffy suburban cities on the east side of the metropolis. The impact on the daily life of 99% of people in Los Angeles is exactly zero. There are approximately 20 million people here. Maybe 5,000 have anything to do with this nonsense.

Yep, it’s going to be a long, hot summer and arsonists love the heat, and wind. I remember our summer of fire in 2020, up here in Oregon, well.
Having lived in CA for over sixty years, I understand the mentality. CA is about the culture and money. Mostly money. It’s a great place to make money. SoCal has been the mecca of money for over a century. People like money, a lot. They’ll put up with a lot to live large. Since my wife grew up in Anaheim, I saw some of it from the inside.
It’s known as the American Dream to some and has been for a long, long time.
I would love to understand how it is a great place to make money. It is one of the most heavily regulated, taxed, exclusive to certain groups only, places on the planet.
There are millions of wealthy people in this world and California has oceans, great weather, great food, few bugs and cheap labor for maids and gardeners. There used to be a thriving middle from tourism, massive defense spending, agriculture, etc.
Today, it is becoming more like Mexico City than a city of angels. Thanks liberals!

I would recommend talking to blue collar workers in SoCal. Construction, aerospace, trades, mechanics, heck tow truck drivers. Pick one. See how they live their lives.
Forex, recent new neighbors here in the forest came from Huntington Beach area. Surfboard shop. Bought up two properties at a cost of nearly 2 million and are still improving them. Oh, and they still have the shop in SoCal. I haven’t seen their motor sailing vessel parked in Balboa but apparently it’s pretty nice.

Watch Pepe’s Towing on Youtube to see how blue collar meets truly wealthy there, since they regularly do, working recovery in wealthy neighborhoods with a couple million, or more, $ in recovery equipment. It’s very eye opening. I remember it more from the 70’s and 80’s in the machine tool and oil and gas areas.

Not true. I have to show a ‘real ID’ illegals can claim a fake SS number or a ‘business number’ or a utility bill with their name and address on the bill. Their employer HAS to accept it.
I ran credit checks on tenant applicants and can opine that the results were often ….. interesting. I was a landlord in CA from about 1986 to 2016, all single family homes. Like I opined above, CA is a great place to make money and that’s why moral, peaceful people put up with the crime, corruption, violence and extortion by the Communists.

I remember one example, Dennis stopping his fire truck on a freeway in Maryland during the convoy, being warned to disperse, which he did, and was later arrested and imprisoned in West Virginia, where the convoy was camped, as a felony fugitive from justice. No bail.
Governor extradited him to Maryland where we was held until a lawyer finally got him bonded out. If memory serves he was in jail a couple weeks, never mind all the legal bills after. For something he wasn’t even cited for.

It says that CONFIRMING the validity of an alien’s documentation and, thereby, catching fraudulent documentation is VERBOTEN! This is actually indented in the code, probably so employers don’t miss it:

The settlement resolves the department’s determination that Navajo Express violated the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) by discriminating against non-U.S. citizen workers when checking their permission to work in the United States.
“When employers reject workers’ valid documentation [NO, “appears on its face” to be valid – W] proving their permission to work and demand other types of documentation, they construct unnecessary hurdles that can mean the difference between a worker getting a job or not,” said Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division. “The Justice Department will continue to hold employers accountable for discriminating against workers because of citizenship, immigration status or national origin.”
In other words, checking that the APPEARS to be valid documentation which COULD be fraudulent IS in fact NOT fraudulent is VERBOTEN! In other words, “two forms of ID” is NOT permissible to request from aliens, just from YOU.
BTW, WHO is the only person responsible for changing that code if it isn’t effective? From that code:
(1)(A) The PRESIDENT shall provide for the monitoring and evaluation of the degree to which the employment verification system established under subsection (b) provides a secure system to determine employment eligibility in the United States and shall examine the suitability of existing Federal and State identification systems for use for this purpose.
(1)(B) To the extent that the system established under subsection (b) is found not to be a secure system to determine employment eligibility in the United States, the PRESIDENT shall, subject to paragraph (3) and taking into account the results of any demonstration projects conducted under paragraph (4), implement such changes in (including additions to) the requirements of subsection (b) as may be necessary to establish a secure system to determine employment eligibility in the United States.
And then, there’s this pointed out by Karl Denninger. This obviously unenforced code in existence since the 1950s should put the leaders of sanctuary cities and states and NGOs in jail for 10-20 years. Read it:

So, in conclusion, all current methods of illegal alien deportation are, by far, the least effective measures. Simply eliminate the paragraph in “8 U.S. Code § 1324a – Unlawful employment of aliens” which forbids an employer from checking if ID is fraudulent and allowing him to ignore that and plead ignorance and actually ENFORCE “8 U.S. Code § 1324 – Bringing in and harboring certain aliens” to put those who violate it in prison.
“The new budget includes over $160 billion for immigration enforcement, with approximately $45 billion specifically allocated for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention operations. This represents a significant increase in funding for ICE compared to previous years.”
$160 billion is about 1/5th of the bloated DOD budget!
Frankly, I think that cost is insanely high.
$115 billion/18.6 million illegals not yet caught [which at the current rate would take 18 years to catch assuming they could all be caught using current measures which is highly unlikely] = $6,182 each.
$45 billion/200,000 detained + 184,889 tracked illegals = $76,937 each.
As I have pointed out above, there are ZERO COST methods that would solve the illegals problem in very short order by quickly IDing most all of them and by punishing with prison time those who hired, transported, or harbored/sheltered them.
So, just like the judicial coup against Trump’s EOs that could be almost totally nipped in the bud by simply ENFORCING an EXISTING rule and requirement, this is yet another farce.
HOW MUCH is “just” ONE billion dollars? That term is thrown around like nothing these days and shouldn’t be.

You’ve nailed the problem. We cannot get 10’s of millions deported by the current ICE method of tracking people down one by one. Plus the activist courts add to the difficulty.
The illegal population needs to be convinced to want to self-deport enmasse —which means cutting off their ability to earn a living and all sources of financial aid. No money, no way to support themselves and they’ll self deport.
What happened to E-Verify? It was supposed to require verification of citizenship before hiring.

You are on to something with the related data bases. Once upon a time, most everyone’s name, address, and phone number were freely available. It was called the white pages, or the phone book, and no one thought it was especially harmful. It was a data base but it was not digitally connected with anything else.
AI will be used to violate our 4th amendment rights, just as Fakebook, Google, Apple, etc. have stolen our data. Sane people would put a brake on AI. Ask the people in China, now living under a technocracy that uses facial recognition software, how oppressive this control is. Why would we sleepwalk into that? Maybe people will wake up and take a stand when their jobs are stolen by robots.
Here’s an idea I have not yet heard discussed: blockchain technology and AI surveillance should be applied to the government. It should never ever be applied to ordinary citizens. When it comes to use of taxpayer money, we demand the total transparency that blockchain can give. Are you an elected official? For the duration of your service, all your purchases and investments will be transparent to the public. When your term is over, you can return to the privacy that ordinary citizens enjoy.
But the elites want to do all that just vice versa. They want to control the people and keep themselves exempt.
That is a good idea to apply to those in government. That said with conviction, Pandora cannot be put back in the box.
Complete government transparency mandated to be available to all citizens would be just about the only effective check I can think of.

Bingo, the control centers went dark at sunset ….. the rioters quickly got the message when no one answered the control center’s phones ……. so the professional rioters faded back into the shadows ……. leaving a few “useful idiots” to hang around for the TV crews to cover.

Overall, in my opinion, quieter, but later, particularly for a weeknight, with fewer flag carrying protestors late at night and more miscreants and a more aggressive police presence. I was watching AXN News, one of the livestreamers I follow, and he and his buddies were pinned down in a building courtyard; every time they moved to get out, the cops pelted them with rubber bullets. That was typical.

My first impression is it kinda reminds me of Persia back in the day, with style changes to reflect modern times.
However, as I experienced in post-Communist FSU, reading and seeing pictures/movies were far different from the reality of being there, so I temper my appreciation a bit.
One thing I learned from my friends in the FSU, the people had no beef with us. It was our government. I got the best lessons out in west Ukraine, Lviv area, which came across as more independent and militant and open about politics, as well as being markedly anti-Communist and anti-Russian. I imagine times have changed from 30-35 years ago but that was my impression.

This is a wonderful post CountryDoc. People don’t know the extent to which Primary Care is being forced into decision making based on MIPS, star ratings and reimbursement traps. It’s dangerous for the patient. Because doctors who are actually listening to patients and treating them outside of these parameters are punished. During COVID, the primary care doctors I worked with started using Ivermectin as part of our treatment for patients who were positive for the virus. We received a letter from BCBS stating that if we continued that therapy, our relationship with BCBS would be in jeopardy. It would have potentially closed our practice to have this happen. So, we started telling patients to get the Ivermectin without the insurance involved. The MIPS, vaccine schedules, quality measures with Medicare HMO’s are all designed to have PCP’s trapped in a treatment protocol that doesn’t necessarily put the patient first. Every patient encounter is treated like a “data mining” experiment. It’s absurd. At some point, AI is going to be primary care if we are not mindful and eventually PUSH BACK. God speed.
I had the same experience with Covid in 2020. 80 of my personal patients dead that I knew well. The were friends and family. After I started using Ivermectin in September 2020 – only 2 deaths among the ones I treated, one intubation. The two both had advanced illness before they came to my attention. I was threatened by pharmacists, insurance companies, ridiculed by a relative, quietly shunned by several colleagues with whom i was very close. I was trying to follow the science. There was no science — only ridiculing, shaming, and gaslighting: by the government, the insurance companies, colleagues, medical society, and even the very hospitalists who were watching these people die. We knew the shots weren’t vaccines, didn’t work, and even if they somehow did start working were of limited usefulness, because they were not vaccines.

The Myth of Andrew Jackson vs the Supreme Court
It is often alleged that President Andrew Jackson responded to the Marshall Court’s 1832 opinion in Worcester v. Georgia by the quip that “John Marshall has made his decision, now let him enforce it!”
However, from an earnest study of the circumstances involved it becomes clear that Jackson never uttered such words, nor did he have any reason to.
1) The opinion in question simply reversed a Georgia court’s decision concerning state-level Indian removal. It had no bearing on federal-level Indian removal policy, nor did it invalidate the Indian Removal Act of 1830. In a way, it actually empowered Jackson by securing a federal monopoly on jurisdiction over all Indian Affairs.
2) The quote is apocryphal, does not exist in any of Jackson’s known writings or recorded musings, and the president’s most famous biographers, including Robert Remini, have denied that he ever used such a phrase.
3) There was no judicial mandate that Jackson was to enforce. The Marshall Court stopped short of calling forth federal marshals to carry out the opinion, which had been the standard practice at the time.
4) Georgia quickly complied with the opinion, putting up no resistance and freeing Samuel Worcester in a matter of months – so enforcement was entirely inconsequential.

Under Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 65(c), judges can issue injunctions “ONLY IF” the suing party posts a bond to cover potential damages if they’re wrong. But guess what? This rule is hardly used!
When I was in the White House, in Trump’s first term, I suggested this, but DOJ didn’t make it happen. Imagine if we had applied this to the travel ban – activists would think twice before blocking policies with potentially billions at stake.
For national injunctions, we’re talking bonds in the hundreds of millions or even billions. It will become prohibitive unless the activists have a slam dunk case.

The Fight for Peace Intensifies
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen unveiled the 18th sanctions package against Russia on Tuesday, zeroing in on Moscow’s energy cashflow and military machine.

Mexico Is Complicit In The L.A. Riots–the Federalist:
“…Iconic images have been circulating online for days of masked men waving Mexico’s flag amid burning vehicles and wreckage, giving the riots a decidedly sinister flavor, as though all this is at least partly the work of foreign powers attempting to undermine the sovereignty of the United States.
In fact, that’s partially true, and it deserves some unpacking. Much of the debate and commentary in recent days has centered on the Trump administration’s response to the crisis, deploying the National Guard and the Marines to restore order in parts of L.A., and the reactions of California Democratic leaders like Gov. Gavin Newsom and L.A. mayor Karen Bass, who are essentially arguing that law enforcement itself is the problem. Others have speculated on various leftists groups that are in all likelihood funding and organizing these riots, similar to how BLM organized in the summer of 2020, in hopes they will spread to every major city.
But there’s another political player in this drama that’s gotten much less attention: the Mexican government’s ruling MORENA Party under the leadership of President Claudia Sheinbaum.
The first thing to understand about MORENA and the Mexican political establishment is that it’s essentially a criminal enterprise that has, over the past decade, merged with the country’s major cartels. Mexico essentially lost the drug war that began in 2006, and since at least 2013 the state has been so thoroughly infiltrated by the cartels, particularly Sinaloa, that today it’s difficult to tell where one stops and the other begins.
The cartels of course are not just drug-trafficking organizations anymore. During the Biden administration they figured out how to monetize illegal immigration, which became a major source of income for their organizations and networks. Those networks now include elements of the Guardia Nacional and Instituto Nacional de Migración, the country’s federal immigration authority, both of which were key players in the cartels’ migrant-trafficking operations.
All of that is by way of brief background. On Sunday afternoon, responding to the riots over the weekend, Sheinbaum said Mexican nationals living in the U.S. are “heroes” and denounced President Trump’s attempts to enforce federal immigration law.

Just last month, Sheinbaum threatened to mobilize protests in the United States to push back against taxes on remittances from the U.S. to Mexico, which account for a substantial portion of her country’s GDP.
And now we have protests — and riots — in L.A. over an issue that intersects directly with the interests of Mexico’s ruling politico-narco class. Simply put, the Mexican flags flying in the streets of L.A. are not simply protest emblems or symbols of pride in one’s heritage, as the New York Times laughably posited over the weekend. The flags are rather an indication of an entire network of political operatives that MORENA has maintained inside the U.S. for years, first under former Mexican President (and MORENA founder) Andrés Manuel López Obrador, popularly known as AMLO, and now under Sheinbaum, his successor.
For example, when the New York Times reported in February 2024 on the very robust connections between López Obrador and the powerful Sinaloa drug cartel, a group of “protesters” showed up days later outside the offices of the New York Times waving signs and shouting “AMLO, you’re not alone.”
Moreover, as the Texas Public Policy Foundation has reported, the Mexican regime has become increasingly hostile to American sovereignty, repeatedly threatening to interfere in U.S. elections and target American lawmakers for attempting to secure the border and fight the cartels. The increasingly inflammatory rhetoric of the Mexican state has become, in TPPF’s estimation, “normative,” and “demonstrates the Mexican government’s willingness to wield political influence over Mexican and Hispanic populations in the United States.” …
We don’t have to tolerate this behavior from Mexico, any more than we have to tolerate mass illegal immigration. As the American First Policy Institute noted in an X thread on Sunday, the Trump administration can assert U.S. interests as shrewdly as Sheinbaum asserts Mexico’s interests, and it can start by leveraging the reauthorization of the USMCA trade agreement:
“The number-one card we can play: USMCA reauthorization. This so-called free-trade treaty between Mexico, the United States, and Canada, is the absolute pillar of the Mexican economy. If it goes, so too do the remnants of whatever national prosperity they have left under their narco-regime. The United States and Canada can get by without Mexico – but the reverse is not true. As it happens, this treaty must be re-authorized no later than July 1, 2026.”
The assumption in Mexico City is that USMCA reauthorization will be near-automatic, separate from all conversations about security, sovereignty, and immigration. Unfortunately, that’s also the assumption among many U.S. officials in Washington. But it shouldn’t be. If Mexico wants to enjoy free trade with the United States, it needs to become an actual partner and ally on security and immigration, and cease being a hostile actor in an irregular international conflict. …”

Regarding the discussion on “patterns” above, I would be very interested in knowing the following:
How much taxpayer money was spent to rebuild Minneapolis and Seattle after the elected leaders in the State failed to quell the riots? ( I think an argument could be presented that the elected leaders in the State supported the riots)
How many Federal charges were levied against those elected leaders?
What if upon the conclusion of the latest Op in California, the same questions were asked and answered?
Would there be any indications of a pattern?
