Traditionally, the States (at least the 22 or 23 that register voters by party affiliation) go by “the #’s”; in order to get official recognition, a party must have so many, wanting to be registered AS Repubs, Dems, Libertarians, Greens, or whatever that they then (I think) petition for recognition.
Around 1/2 the States do NOT register by party, so I am not sure there is any “official recognition”.
The best thing would be if people just continued to LEAVE the Democrat party, and become MAGA Republicans, so that the Democrat party just dies…
Worst scenario would be attempts are made to outlaw the party, because Dems love to play the oppressed victim, and Conmunists operate more effectively underground, and raging against “the man”.

At some places / states
During the purchase of some glass or plastic beverages,
the purchaser pays a deposit as a part of the cost of the beverage.
Some people return the empty container(s) and get their deposit money back.
The returned containers are recycled as raw materials – which costs less than mining and manufacturing new containers
and reduces the volume of waste sites over time – which thereby reduces waste disposal costs..
Some do remember the days when vehicle engine oil changes – just let the used oil drop out of the oil pan and seep into the ground.
Meanwhile, the well water that was pumped up – was not that far away from the oil seepage…

For heaven’s sake, there were cities with concrete and asphalt (oil) even in those olden days. Everyone didn’t dump their used engine oil next to their water well pump handle either. Some used oil was sprayed on dirt roads to lay down the dust from traffic.
Kerosene saved the whales and the automobile allowed cities to get rid of mountains of horse poop. Horses died on the streets in big cities all of the time and those carcasses have to go somewhere.
The carcass removal guys were the abandoned car tow truck drivers of their day.

Some communities offer that – and have for years.
Pick up recycle bin contents on the same day as picking up waste ( bones, apple cores etc )

Well I am not one to preach ; but I view recycling as one of my responsibilities as a citizen . I don’t like the idea of landfills and our garbage problems will increase as our population grows . So , I dispose of metal , aluminum and organics somewhere besides the garbage can . This is also an opportunity to provide employment and safeguard our communities .

When we lived in Austin, we recycled like crazy. Then an environmental scientist friend revealed that all the glass that is recycled (at least in Austin, 20 years ago), goes to the dump. At the time, they did not have a buyer for the glass to be recycled. Typically, glass bottle/jar manufacturers want clear glass. It’s impractical to use colored glass. The labor to separate that glass is cost prohibitive.
The only practical use for recycled glass is for fiber glass insulation and the fiber glass plant needs to be located close to the recycle source due to transportation costs. So, only a few cities have contracts for fiber glass plants.
Plastics are a completely different story. The bundles often stay stored and then finally shipped overseas to be “disposed” by so-called waste experts. And as stated above, those waste experts often just burn the plastic or ship it out to sea. Indonesia, in particular, has many such operations.
As a follow-up to my post, we now live in a county in Arkansas that has a contract with Owens/Corning for glass.

Although I didn’t know it at the time, Reagan made a deal with the Saudi’s to flood the oil market in late 85. The price of oil went from $36 a barrel to less than $12 in a few months. Not only did I loose my job (geologist), 13K other geologists lost there job along with over 100K people who worked on rigs or serviced them. We also lost 25% of our domestic oil production (stripper wells) cause they lost money at $12/bbl so they shut them down. Once down, a stripper well has to be re-drilled.
I firmly believe that in hindsight MANY policies and programs that were enacted in the past appeared to have good reasons behind them – and often popular support, as well! The problem has been, IMHO, that there is “nothing so permanent as a temporary government program.”
When programs are started, they should have a definitive end date and there should then be a non partisan evaluation, by persons with NO personal involvement, as to whether or not the program worked as had been promised when it began…but unfortunately, that isn’t the way that government programs generally work!
Every President in my lifetime has proposed solutions that seemed to be the will of the people and in the best interests of the country AT THAT TIME, which we now look back on and ask what they were thinking! I’m sure Ronald Reagan was thinking about the Oil Crisis of the 1970s, along with Jimmy Carter’s stagflation debacle, and so he decided that working with the Saudis to bring down the cost of gas was a good plan to stimulate the economy.
How many people were in favor of Social Security when Roosevelt proposed it or Medicare and the War on Poverty under LBJ? How many people, myself included, much to my chagrin, thought the Global War on Terror was the best way to keep America safe? (I started having my doubts when DHS morphed into agencies like TSA and now regret that I ever voted for anyone named Bush, but considering the alternatives…)
My point being that Presidents, even ones that we like and support, may sometime support things that we absolutely do NOT like, and in the end, we may be proven right, OR we may have to admit that they had no choice and made the best decision they could given the political climate, even if the policy personally affects us, and/or people we know in a negative way.

The only way I see successfully removing a large majority of the illegal aliens is by very active discouragement – including disallowing any federal funds, disallowing work, instituting large fees on personal money transfers outside the nation and instituting KYC regulations regarding them, disallowing health care, and any other form of taxpayer funded assistance.

First point is that Congress could easily end this fiasco – pass a law that only CITIZENS may receive, just as only CITIZENS should be counted in the census for reasons of apportionment.
That aside – Americans must prove they are citizens via birth certificates, SS cards, and other documentation in order to get “real IDs” (as if other IDs are not real) so that they may travel WITHIN THEIR OWN COUNTRY via air and rail. They also must prove the same in order to get SS and Medicare retirement benefits.
Yet somehow illegal aliens do NOT have to prove they are here illegal to receive subsidies????

Non-citizens who are legal residents don’t mind saying they aren’t citizens.
So, what’s the harm of the question?
the harm is being dishonest about wanting the question – they say. its like a trigger thing, the fact of not wanting to count illegals is being assumed as a tricky desire verus a flat out legal one.
I see that as a benefit. We shouldn’t be counting illegals on the census because their needs/desires and seat apportioning effect shouldn’t be used for anything by the government. Apportioning house seats based on citizens and legal residents makes sense, but illegals should have zero representation in government.
I’m researching the educational backgrounds of the DOGE team. Of those I can tell where they went to school, I have one confirmed as a fancy private academy grad.
Three confirmed public school graduates.
I don’t know whether attending public college is indicative of a public high school or not, I’ve known kids who went to Catholic schools who went to public college.
They take a two year sample of some of the schools in one of the worst districts in the country, in Illinois, and use it to show that raising teacher salaries doesn’t lead to better outcomes.
That’s fair, but then I see something like that used to prove something about our students versus the rest of the world, which it just does not prove.
