Republican senators Rand Paul, Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski all voted in support of removing President Trump’s ability to impose tariffs under national security grounds. However, the overall vote failed in the Senate 49-49.
The vote was mostly symbolic for the upper chamber as the House previously approved a rule to block any effort to restrict President Trump’s trade authority, and the White House would obviously veto any bill that might pass. However, the vote does showcase the Republicans who are in support of multinational corporations outsourcing jobs and manufacturing.
The bill was originally created by Republican Senator Rand Paul and Democrat Senator Ron Wyden. The intransigent neocon wing of the GOPe, those who take funds from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce (aka Decepticons) also supported the bill, but given the certainty of Trump’s veto, needed to retain their masks.
WASHINGTON – […] The legislation, designed to end the national emergency Trump used to impose his now-paused “Liberation Day” tariffs, failed by a vote of 49 to 49 despite three Republicans joining all Democrats. {Full Story}

rand paul is a snake
Muh Principles strikes again.
“Principals”..
He uses Principles to hide his true RINO ways. And his voting on his “principles” has done exactly what? All talk and no action.
His career is over.
I sure hope so.
Rand Paul is a war monger.
Definitely, an opportunist.
He’s a libertarian. That’s where the “any willing worker from anywhere in the world” philosophy came from.
Most workers who are starving or beaten or menaced at gunpoint are willing to work.
Slavers love workers like that.
Slavers that can offload the associated costs onto others are doubly happy.
And doubly wealthy.
Yep. Libertarians are open border zealots
.
I’m not.
You must be the only one. Tell us all of your other stances. Maybe you’re confused and aren’t truly a Libertarian.
I know a number of “dyed-in-the-wool” libertarians and none of them are for open borders. They also very much believe in the rule of law – issues being with laws which infringe upon liberties of the citizenry. Our nation’s founding documents are loaded with principals upon which they hold dear.
Tu for pointing this out. I believe some people just lump on all of us libertarians in with the Beltway-boys and left-leaning types. Our positions are far more nuanced than what could be addressed in a format like this to show the distinctions.
I think a libertarian position is you can have open borders or a welfare state, but not both
No, those who represent themselves as libertarian,…aren’t.
The Founders were all Libertarians; it means the greatest amount of personal liberty possible.
So yes, can own fully auto machine guns, and no substances are illegal, or “controlled”…
and people can say whatever they want, or print it so.long as its not slander or libel,…
and the idea of citisens having such freedoms, scares many people, because witj liberty, with freedom, comes responsibility.
Bingo, me neither. Didn’t Rubio sponsor bills about and vote for Amnesty repeatedly?
Rubio is DS, bro. We’re all going to see it eventually.
And what does ”DS” mean, for an uninitiated ”someone”, on the other side of the Earth, please ?
DS could be taking on a new meaning: Donald’s Student!? 🙂
Nobody voted for Rubio & probably still wouldn’t.
Not necessarily all. Same with abortion. But most, yes likely.
A classic libertarian should be less regulation, more free trade. We are in a position where our free trade positions of zero tariffs were heavily abused by other nations tariffing our goods, resulting in un-fair trade. In the name of fair and equal trade Ron should be pro-tariffs. The fact he is not should expose he is just a Deep State in Token Libertarian clothing.
At least he gets invited to Fox News!
And no more sympathy vote for getting beat up!
https://web.archive.org/web/20171105005445/https:/www.politico.com/story/2017/11/04/rand-paul-assault-home-charges-244549
They claim to be “less gubmint & less regulation” while taking full advantage of offloading the cost of their foreign indentured servants onto the backs of their fellow citizens.
You nailed it!
Ron Paul is the father of Rand Paul. Some here are getting them mixed up.
REAL free trade, not this “government-regulated” thousands of pages of trade regulations masquerading as “free” and one-sided to boot
Libertarian ideals only would work in a perfect world where no one would cheat.
I guess it is a waste of time to inform Sen. Paul that we do not live in a perfect world, so WAKE UP!
Ma’am I consider myself more libertarian than Republican’t and something weird happened in the Libertarian party in the late 90s Early oughts where GloboCorp. a-holes co-opted the party as no one was really doing anything with it. Rand is a Uniparty opportunist.
Interesting
It wasn’t ‘weird’ it was calculated.
It was after Perot, who scared the Uniparty. So, they infiltrsted abd took control of his patty, and the Greens and Libertarians, and changed State laws to make it very difficultvfor a 3rd party to be able to get on the ballot in enough States to effect the outcome.
Libertarians, and Greens had been around long enough they alresdy met the qualifications.
Thats it, in a nutshell.
SoldiersMom: Yes. One of the turn-offs of libertarianism.
Always has been.
I used to like Romney until he threw the second debate. Rand is now solidly a Romney, his neighbor should be pardoned, ya know the one that beat him with a stick.
I don’t buy the comparison at all.
I lost any hope that he might actually be a principled man during the first Trump Administration, when he refused to push McConnell to put the Senate into recess. Everything he has done since then I have viewed through that lens and he has never failed to disappoint me!
Hawley too right VK? All it took was one.
All of the GOP Senators were complicit in blocking a recess call in #45’s term.
When he voted to certify the 2020 results, because, he said, not doing so would be unconstitutional, I could not consider his judgement to be sound. He’s been right about many things, such as Fauci and vaccinations.
I think there are many republicans who either don’t understand the reasons for the tariffs or, they benefit from the system the way it is and therefore beholden to those entities that provide them their goodies.(See the other senator from KY)
An accountant who files tax returns was bitchin’ at me about the Sheite-Show in DC and sayin’ tariffs are double-taxation and everyone’s 401k’s are being killed. Well, every dollar spent, or paid to an accountant to comply with the tax laws and minimize the tax liability, is double-taxation. It’s called the compliance tax. And if there were no income tax, 401k’s would be pointless. Financial Planners could toss the tax avoidance strategies in the circular file.
Imagine if smart people put that same effort into producing something that benefits others.
When Rand Paul is aligned with Murkowski and Collins and no other republicans- that speaks volumes.
What these three have in common is Trump Derangement Syndrome.
Flags should be lowered to half staff every April 15th to acknowledge all the hours wasted worshipping at the altar of gubmint largesse.
What about Trump Excuse Syndrome? It’s clearly a thing, too.
Groyper.
Denier looking for a way to deny. Your emotions are over-riding your ability to think clearly.
No man is perfect. Nick Fuentes seeks unrealistic perfection and dwells on every fault. He and his Groypers, (his followers) think we should have elected Jesus.
Aha but notice that all this time with Rand when he was going after Fauci, never once did Rand include China in his accusations. China released the bioweapon that Fauci developed.
Rand is somehow captured by China.
He never mentioned…
why it was released. Or, who orchestrated the release and response. It was a plandemic.
We have seen the enemy…not sure how derps translates into French.
And Rand never brought in Dr. Christine Grady (Fauci’s wife) who was head of the bioethics department at NIH. She would have been the one signing off on the grant money going to the outfits doing the gain of function research.
Worth noting that r. Grady’s wiki page has been scrubbed of any references to her position(s) at NIH.
Both US and China were involved. We need a Plandemic Truth Movement.
And, note that two Senators were absent, and so did not vote; McConnell and some other Democrat.
“same effort” – yep. Although mainly engineering, I once studied accounting & bookkeeping, and it was fascinating. But when it came to the tax stuff, refused to waste one brain cell studying the myriad arbitrary web of tax regulations and gotchas. Best to compile the accounting reports, then toss the info over the cubicle wall to the tax guys, let them deal with it. What a waste of mind-share and energy.
Someone recently reminded us that tax month, April, is at the opposite end of the calendar from election month, November, and that for true justice Tax Day should be Election Day – then we’d see how the angry taxpayers vote.
Bingo! Not a single one of them. All spineless. Some more overt than others. That’s our real problem. We can elect an Executive, but Legislative is 10:1 or 20:1 against us, depending how to calculate it.
No he’s not.
But what he is, really, is a guy who has certain principles that he just won’t compromise on. Just the way it is.
So, he’s like the guy who decides it is far better to put one foot in a bucket of ice water and try to get through life that way, right?
Hop on one foot, while sliding that bucket full of ice water.
It’s a convoluted made-up excuse of being a “loser”
.
Yes, because no one in PDJT’S administration has one foot in a bucket of ice water, hopping on one foot and sliding.
It’s all theater. We’re all going to see that eventually. I’ll be waiting for your admission.
Rand Paul is NOT in President Trump’s Administration.
Irrelevant to your point.
Hey.”Yes, because no one in PDJT’S administration has one foot in a bucket of ice water, ”
Try Harder………
Utter hogwash.
Joe Biden has principles. Barack Obama really has principles. President Xi has principles.
Rand might as well take his principles and switch to being a democrat. He can still have his principles.
breathtaking angle
maybe he should screech some more at fraudxi and do nothing of consequence his entire senate carrer while enabling billions in theft of taxpayers dollars
using snake was being kind
I would think most Libertarians wouldn’t think twice about someone funding a viral lab in Wuhan China. The ultimate freedom.
He’s neither hot nor cold
~~~ Spit ~~~
What has ever accomplished? I mean really accomplished with his so-called uncompromising principles. Telling and showing all, rich and poor alike, that he supposedly has certain principles he will not work with anyone on and everyone else be damned isn’t an accomplishment nor leadership. I wonder if anyone has done research on all his votes to ferret out on which topics he was willing to compromise.
And the even bigger question to look at is whether his libertarian position is the best solution for the rest of us, regardless of his personal preferences. I don’t consider libertarianism to be a principle – it is a political position, unproven and even demonstrably destructive based on what has happened to our working class as a result of trade being free for everyone except American workers .
True.
He’s voting for his “certain principles”. Well Kentucky is MAGA, and Kentucky expects Ryan to vote MAGA — not his principles.
Problem with Rand, and others, is he puts himself above what the majority interest of his constituents is.
It’s called pride.
Kentucky needs to do a clean sweep…of both Mitch and Rand.
Do you know Rand personally or any of his constituents?
Knowing him personally is irrelevant. How he votes according to what his constituents want, ie voted in 2024 is what’s relevant. Are you the only one who doesn’t know how KY voted? Rand needs to get off his high horse.
Ding. Ding. Ding. We have a winner. Paul is intelligent, articulate, and many things most Democrats are not. I get some degree of independence but virtually all if not all in Congress have forgotten the first principle and that is they were elected to serve. It’s not about you. The degradation of necessary character traits in this country is reflected in our elected leaders or maybe it’s just DC. After some point the swamp stink stays on you. Not unlike the Hollywood elite who gather each year to award themselves–those appreciative of being elected transform into those feeling appreciably entitled.
Exact opposite of Sen. Gillibrand from NY.
Political whore that flip flops to get reelected. My best example:
When she was in NY Government representing a conservative rural farming community, she had an “A+” rating with the NRA.
When she got to D.C., she had an “F” rating after less than 6 months with Chuck Schumer.
I spent a lot of time composing a comment on Town Hall years ago about that. But because it contained “political whore” the comment was deleted and I could no longer post.
Good riddence to TH anyway….
Yeah, like certifying stolen elections. Muh…meh.
But yet he compromises on other principles.
He is a traitorous scumbag!
President Trump deserves better than him.
The scumbag voted with the two witches for goodness sake.
And his Principled Stances have accomplished what?
What he is is a RINO. Just the way it is.
“RanCoMurk”
His grass needs some
-more
mowing
That’s an insult to the reptiles.
My question:
Why ?? … what was the point RP moderate/independent/fence-rider was going for ??!!!
Rand’s afraid of getting collar bone broken again.
Mr Snake does not care if future generations of Americans have a future. Mr Snake does not care about ours, his children and grandchildren’s futures are secure.
Trump is playing the long game. Rand is not as smart as he thinks he is.
Someone needs to do a deep dive on him.
Wonder what take Ron Paul has on his lecherous little snake! Spit
By all means, retain those masks, until we the people can primary your butts out of office.
We know who you are.
You do not represent the people.
Well. Physicians have a syndromic problem. They get sloppy in their thinking and forget that “M.D.” does not stand for Medical Deity.
Self-Praise, a technique mastered and marvelously demonstrated by our bigly brilliant POTUS is one thing. Preening provincial Self-Worship is entirely another.
That’s a problem with too many self-called “conservative” officials and pundits. They ain’t conservative. They’re provincials; uniparty enablers.
They ain’t the cure. They’re the disease.
He prescribes glasses, he’s no Ben Carson.
He is an ophthalmologist not an optometrist. I agree he isn’t like Ben Carson, but he is able to do surgery on those who need eye surgery.
Too bad he can’t cure his own blindness to the need for President Trump to defend the American worker and American economy from unfair practices.
If not totally blind Rand Paul is at least nearsighted. He can’t see the big picture.
You got your doctors mixed up. In fact, he’s a MD surgeon..
There has to be something seriously wrong with the water or air in Kentucky for that state to produce such pieces of human waste as Chicom NoChin Mitch and Rand Paul. Most of my Dad’s side of the family was from the Kentucky hills and they wouldn’t have stood at all for the likes of those 2 pieces of garbage
Just read an April 30th Revolver article on what a major disappointment Jim Jordan is.
(I actually found it scrolling through Patriot.Win.)
Jordan used to pound his chest and bellow MAGA… and then (just like Issa, etc.) … the 🎤 went dead!
All show— no go.
Follow their donor 💰.
They all morph into ladies from the world’s oldest profession. 💄
Gone are the fighters.
The hell with America.
The true motivation = either blackmail or 💰.
Jim had a family member die unexpectedly. Kinda like Kemp.
Seems to change things.
Didn’t Judge Napolitano do the same? Bloviate and then disappear?
Rand is showing his true MAGA stance…
Or lack thereof…
Paul again. Collins again. Murkowsky yet again. Kind of makes you proud to be a Republican. It is no mystery to me why Trump votes don’t translate to GOP votes.
That’s the optics that show it all! Rand Paul stands with Collins and Murkowski. That’s all we need to know about him.
Collins is about the best we’re gonna get in that state. As for Murkowski, there is no excuse for her. Alaskans get your freaking act together. All that “write-in candidate” and “ranked-choice” shenanigans… better to just have normal rigging with machines.
Paul announced yesterday that he had the votes to block PDJT. Who backed away to make him a fool?
Of course, Collins and Murkowski were his confederates.
I heard that McConnell was sick and one other was traveling so they didn;t
vote..
Maybe Turtle lied to Rand Paul just to get Rand to stick his neck out. There is no love lost between Kentucky’s Senators.
But both voted to block recess appointments by Trump 45 in all four years.
At some point, it would be helpful if Rand would tilt at windmills that would benefit the American people instead of thwarting what is good for us. He never seems to get it.
He’s so anxious to stand up to anyone with power that he ends up going after President Trump who is seeking to make things better for the American people. Wrong frigging windmill, fool.
Maybe he’s never forgiven President Trump for beating him mercilessly in ’16.
He makes libertarians look like obstructionists welcoming chaos. Chyna Mitch meets Chyna Rand.
And we should have had 2-3 more senators anyway, to provide a bit more cushion. 53 is within striking range of the perps.
I will never again pay any attention to Rand Paul. What a little weasel. If he thinks “free trade” is so wonderful, then he’s far too insulated from the real world.
This GOP Donor who holds an eye watering $$$ stake in Tik Tok contributed a substantial amount of money to Paul.
Surely this doesn’t speak to influence…
Does it?
https://nypost.com/2023/04/06/rand-paul-backed-by-gop-donor-with-33b-tiktok-stake/
With all this DOGE and reform talk, has anyone tried to discuss a better way to control billionaire influence in elections?
His mask at least, is off for the rest of his life…
Kentucky has produced some of the crappiest politicians.
Come on people, nominate some fresh MAGA candidates
Is Molly Sims MAGA?
At one time, Rand actually WAS the fresh face.
It’s not truly free if it’s only one-sided. The other nations have barriers, but we follow our globalist free-trading prinicples. Citizens lose.
I would love to have Kash dig up illegal activity by Collins and Murkowski . No doubt both are on the take.
I get your frustration, but we don’t need another Hoover. We need to de-weaponize the FBI or get rid of it all together.
Sheldon Whitehouse and Mitch McConnell did not vote. They would have voted with Rand Paul and the Bill would have passed.
BREAKING: Senate Vote to Eliminate Trump’s Tariffs FAILS Despite Three GOPers Siding With Democrats – Two Senators Who Would Have Voted to Terminate Did Not Show Up to Vote
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2025/04/breaking-senate-vote-eliminate-trumps-tariffs-fails-despite/
Which leads me to think this was a staged vote with an agreed to tally that allowed Collins and Murky to appeal to their apostate base, while letting Rand Paul take a principled stand on Constitutional grounds.
I still don’t know if that is Rand Paul’s schtick, or his true identity.
Yes, the whole thing reeks of UniParty.
Mur”Cow”ski doesn’t have an “apostate base”, she just has enough liberals @ Native supporters to frustrate our conservative base from removing her from power. Plus add that too many voters this last election were “confused” about voting down RCV due to the language used to describe the proposal to remove it. sigh 😔
So… it was all just theatre then.
why did Thune let a vote come to the floor?
The question answers itself if you listen.
yup! (i know)
I think I know. He obviously knew who the other two Senators were and also knew they would not be there to vote.
So, Thune did not prevent Rand Paul from pushing the bill, he just timed it so it would fail. Nobody can say he prevented the bill being voted on.
If Rand Paul had listened to the amount of money coming in to the US from overseas already because of tariffs (multiple Trillions) he might have reconsidered. This was discussed at the cabinet meeting aired on C-SPAN. With many more companies lining up to open industry in the US. It is going to create great wealth to pay down on the national debt.
This cabinet meeting on the first 100 days is well worth watching. Two hours or so in length, but it shows just what a spectacular cabinet President Trump has put in place. Every single members is awesome. Everything is being done in Trump time and the cabinet is loving it. I highly recommend it.
I’ve only gotten through up to JD!s part so far. No doom and gloom at all about the impending and inevitable economic collapse; they all seemed stoked. Pam was the least impressive.
We do we keep getting snake-bit on AG?
President Lincoln had people like Mr. Holier than Thou Rand Paul in mind when he stated that the Constitution was not a suicide document.
I will always be proud of my support for Ron Paul in ’88, ’08, and ’12. My ’15 support for Rand will not be a moment of pride.
My next stop after Rand was VSGPDJT…hopefully that will buy me enough indulgences for my forgiveness from all Treepers.
Trump was right about Rand’s head. It ain’t right.
I’d prefer to let Rand Paul speak for himself on this:
https://www.foxbusiness.com/video/6372083708112
Whether you believe him or not, I don’t think many here would dispute on principal the concerns he is voicing.
Whatever we are salvaging from the Deep State/Biden mess… we’re moving further from the Constitution to do it. Will we return to it when all emergencies are over? Constitutional ideologues are always in short supply in D.C.
In economic theory, tariffs cannot be justified under a reasonable set of assumptions. The problem here is that all of the assumptions are violated. The enemy does not care about ceteris paribus.
To paraphrase the professor, you’re going to get the sh*t beat out of you if you are the only one playing by the rules.
And if goods don’t cross borders, troops will.
Bastiat.
Is that a rhetorical question? From Lincoln to FDR to present we just keep moving away from the Constitution for “crisis”.
“The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary.” – Mencken
.
Stupid man. “Shouldn’t be running the country on emergencies.”
Sure. Let’s just go slowly and non-emergently over the cliff.
Also, he’s calling tariffs “taxes”, and what if Bernie Sanders gets in, etc. Wants “separation of powers” and “checks and balances”. He’s apparently blind to the current state of affairs.
He doesn’t understand economics.
I’m starting to think Rand Paul’s neighbor might not have been so crazy.
Just evil…
That is naughty!
kind of a dumb thing to do for Rand Paul, unless he’s done in the senate anyway and doesn’t care or he’s collecting cash for his retirement fund. As the host notes, this wouldn’t get past the house and the WH would veto so it’s pissing in the wind.
People think KY voting is too small and too red to be crooked. I disagree. The smaller the pie, the easier to steal. Let’s hope some real MAGA can go for the old man’s seat and then Paul’s seat too. I’m tired of his grandstanding crap anyway. He reminds me of that perpetual grandstander from Ohio, Jim Jordan. Mountains of “principle” but can’t kick an empty paper cup two feet. Utterly useless.
see; also: Massie
If kentucky is so red , why did they vote for a democrat for their governor twice in a row period
Ask Dom Mignon.
I lived in KY for 17 years. I was voting for bush at the time and was in line to vote. Speaking with several native KY voters, they said they always vote R for federal elections, but D for local. It’s wild, but true. Their local leaders are overwhelmingly D’s.
I wonder…Kentucky is famous for bourbon, but also their horse farms, thoroughbred racehorses and equestrian events. There is huge money in those horses. I mean huge money…easy pickings for politician donations.
KY is also famous for their county and city income taxes! It’s a privilege to work in Ky so you pay a “privilege” income tax from both the city, county and state.
Just under 4 years to fix 50 years of planned destruction, be strong my friends.
Warp speed, except in a good way this time.
18 months, not 4 years.
Rand Paul is what you call a “prick”.
Aren’t pricks to be kicked? I read that somewhere.
When Saul was on the road to Damascus and the Lord Jesus Christ appeared to him.
Acts 9:3-6 KJV
And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:
[4] And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
[5] And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
[6] And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.
Rand is not his daddy.
All the legislation that could advance our rights and freedoms – and these f***ers waste their time on this sh*t.
How – and who – advanced this sh*t ball out of committee?
We don’t hate them enough.
Well, Paul used bad judgment. When you are at war, you defeat the enemy. You return to clean up the battlefield after the victory.
He is now on my “sh*t list.”
And every battle plan changes after the first shot. Everything is treated like its this or we die…no mention of a “back to the drawing board”….like having a ‘back up plan’.
I’ll take Rand over the false friend Decepticon’s every day of the week. Just like I’ll take Massie’s Israel position and budget positions over the spendathon GOP liars also.
We aren’t pretenders when we accept principled positions taken honestly-even though mistakenly in our view.
Good for you; accept their “principled positions”.
How do you know they were “taken honestly”.
Yes, I am very serious.
Their high and mighty principles are channeled through the prism of TDS.
So it would appear.
Honestly, the biggest danger to America, our freedoms and our liberty is Congress! They are so busy lining their own pockets, they’ve lost sight of the country.
Galtian mini-me aka Rand Paul, has no juice. Lots of bloviating, nothing else.
His crusade to bring justice to Fauci also fizzled. Rand and Sen Kennedy blow more hot air against the rabid Left, but nothing ever shows up in results.
Tsk, tsk Rand. Your colors finally show.
Rand Paul, Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski are all a national security threat.
Wouldn’t a vote from JD Vance make a difference?
Only if we needed it to pass. A tie is a failure to pass.
Thanks, Ma. I have trouble with negative sentences. We definitely didn’t need this one to pass!
No indeed.
It’s time for all hands on deck.
I’m encouraged to see some indications of legislative moves to codify some of the President’s policies. It’s imperative to make that happen.
The problem with libertarianism like that of Paul and his dad is that libertarianism is no more practically workable in the real world than socialism is. One is top down control the other is for all practical purposes no control at all. One ignores individuals, the other ignores natural tribalism with its inherent need for a shared and agreed upon social compact delineating social behavior and limits therein. Free flow of everything everywhere ignores human behavioral inclinations for structure.
“I have a memory.” I remember how, just a few years ago, these people were calling for tariffs – but somehow never imposed any. Either their talk back then was all for show (likely), or they just couldn’t get around to it. Nonetheless, even the dimmer light-bulbs in the room might be realizing that Trump is right.
Importantly: We have been paying tariffs to, I think, every(!) country that we now export products to. Trump’s now-famous list of country-specific tariffs was “50% of” the rates that we are now paying to them. And there is something extremely wrong with that.
“You’re in the United States Senate. Whose side are you actually on, and why?” 💰 Who’s Zoomin’ Who?
If you have the backing from those ladies you know you are in the wrong. I just don’t understand why he doesn’t get it.
Bad move especially in this stage of the game.
Did this fail before or after the Ukrainian rare earth minerals slush fund was signed?
Just curious.
Oh you know Shelly Moore Capito would have voted yes if there was a chance in hell.
Smelly Moore Capito is up for reelection in ’26 so she keeps her mask on in this vote. The only time she removes that mask is to smooch arse for a political favor. Remember, Smelly has a lot of experience smooching around China Glitch in the past. Right now she is probably wanting to stay close quarters with President Trump hoping for his endorsement if she decides to run again next year.
You nailed it! She’s a 2 faced liar. I hope we can come up with a good candidate to run against her. Has to be good to overcome the Huntington/Charleston lib votes.
It’s been said that a picture is worth a thousand words.
I sure would like to know the context of the photo and what that medal is for.
That cartoon is pretty accurate. Are we sure it is satire? lol
He needs to be primaried by a MAGA candidate.
might be by a hair – but it’s still a win! So – Winning!
So glad the Kentucky Senator Rand Paul finally let his mask slip; been waiting ages for that.
How more much does a person need to see
Rand Paul is a traitor
Complacency in 2026 is not an option.
How more much more needs to be seen
Rand Paul is a traitor
Nice photo of Xi and P you’ve got there, SD…
It’s good to know that Rand Paul is Xi Jinping’s butt buddy. Rand Paul is a poster child for why I loathe Libertarians. They’re against big government except when they’re for big government.
Rand Paul is a Democrat. He has just fooled y’all in to thinking he is a Republican.
seems a lot of republican democrats in Kentucky.
Collins is a Democrat. Why she’s in the GOP makes no sense. Since Maine has become a true blue state her constant opposition to all things Trump helps her popularity there. Murkowski is also a Democrat and consistently votes against policies Alaska’s interest. But as long as there is ranked choice voting in red Alaska she will be re-elected by the Democrats joining the independents to vote her in despite the Republican candidate getting a plurality in the first round of voting. Rand Paul is just ignorant of how economic policy/tariff policy is a powerful tool of foreign policy leverage. Whenever Rand Paul doesn’t like what a president does he wants to pass a law to tie his hands and the Constitution he professes to uphold be damned.
From Truth Social post by Redneck Patriot—-Why did Rand Paul’s wife buy stock in Remdesivir in Feb 2020? Why did Rand Paul wait 16 months to disclose his wife bought stock in company behind covid treatment?
Why did PDT offer his meme coins just prior to his election just for the buyers to see the value tank?
Remdesivir (RunDeathIsNear) is a kidney killer. So Rand, through his wife, wanted to get in on the Big Bucks when the government mandated it e used on Covid hospitalized people. Gee, isn’t that just principled all to heck?
My view of Rand Paul has completely changed.
And then it became even more negative after I read DC Draino’s piece on X about an $8 million donation to one of Rand’s PACs by a supporter aligned with China.
Rand Paul’s ‘PAC’ took $8M from TikTok ‘investors’; for all we know that is our own tax money Rand is getting a cut of.
Rand Paul needs to be replaced. Working with Democrats to undermine POTUS Trump’s policies that the vast majority of the electorate voted for is inexcusable. I guess the collectors (uni-party/deep state) have come knocking on Rand’s front door for the favors they’ve been paying for.
It seems apparent that a lot of people don’t realize that PDJT and a lot of his wealthy supporters are just neo-mercantilists. What’s happening isn’t going to benefit us regular folk. It’s going to benefit them. We’re all going to see this truth eventually.
Silly. PDJT is already a successful billionaire and doesn’t need to benefit from monetary gains.
And you believe he cares about you. That would be quite extraordinary.
No, just a guy trying to strike some balance into this discussion. There are FAR more bad-actors that need brought to heel and dealt with than Rand Paul’ alleged sins. Why is he being attacked of all people? Serious question. Makes me think the neo-cons are still running the show and using Rand as a way to distract from themselves through various outlets/influences. I mean, it is possible, correct? Maybe PDJT’s administration isn’t as sound as we’re being led to believe. Maybe there’s another motivating factor behind this.
Meant for o.c.
.
Jamieson, is that you?
.
I answered you above o.c., and I’ll put an even finer point on it. I believe that, once again, we are getting played by the neo-cons and Israel. And, yes, this does imply PDJT himself and some/many in his administration are beholden to them and their goals. I’m too old and I’ve seen this movie before. I’m not allowing my emotions to get in the way of what I’m observing.
No wonder Paul went after Fauci the way he did. He used Fauci as an attack vector against Trump. When the truth is revealed you’ll see how Covid was really used as a mechanism to attack Trump and his administration.
Ah ha, another communist posing as a libertarian outing himself. You never fooled us Rand, go pound sand.
There’s only one word I can come up with to describe Rand Paul’s politics.
Performative.
Everything is about getting attention with him. He staked out a position he KNEW would garner attention, just like he always does. There was no way that mess was getting past the House, and even less of a chance PDJT47 would sign it.
If as Paul (incorrectly) claims tariffs are a tax, then that’s one tax I’m willing to pay if it means reviving our ailing country and getting the world back to trading somewhat fairly with us. Any pain we will feel from these tariffs will quickly ease when the world realizes we aren’t kidding around.
Tariffs are taxes. He’s not incorrect.
Ha! The writer denies it’s a tax in one breath, then admits the costs go up for consumers in the next. If that’s not the definition of a tax, what is? Got a bridge I’d love to sell you in Brooklyn. Cheap.
Ha!
The increase comes from the exporters and middlemen.
Not the tariff.
That is not a tax
That is greed
Thanks for playing.
Direct
Indirect
A tariff is a direct tax.
They must pay to play.
A price increase is an indirect tax.
Nothing says I MUST buy.
Paying the increased price (tax) by the opposing country because of the tariff is a choice.
It is not a mandatory requirement.
Don’t buy their crap…
And…
Taxes are irrelevant.
See the difference?
SC Justice John Roberts has entered the comments section.
Simply a ploy by Paul
Congress already gave this power to the President since foreign policy is the Constitutional prerogative of the President. SCOTUS already adjudicated this exact question a century ago.
How Congress delegates its tariff powers to the president
April 2, 2025 | by Scott Bomboy
From the link…
“Among the three provisions that allow the president to act on his own to impose tariffs without an investigation, only one has ever been used: the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977.
The act allows the president to declare an emergency under the National Emergency Act (NEA) and then use his extensive economic powers to regulate or prohibit imports.
The CRS says that President Trump was the first chief executive to use this act in February 2025, when he announced tariffs on Canada, China, and Mexico. The emergency stated by the president can be terminated at this request, or by a joint resolution of Congress.
Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974, which allows the president to enact temporary tariffs to address “large and serious United States balance-of-payments deficits” or certain other situations that present “fundamental international payments problems; and Section 338 of Tariff Act of 1930, which authorizes the president to enact “tariffs on articles produced by, or imported on the vessels of, foreign countries that discriminate against U.S. commerce in certain ways,” have not yet been used.
Ultimately, Congress can limit or expand the presidential tariffs powers through legislation, but the CRS concludes that based on precedents dating back to the time of Chief Justice Marshall, judicial precedent “has given the President broad latitude to exercise his tariff authorities.”
The Congress is the source of tariff power, but the President (as the country’s sole ultimate international representative), is the tip (and, designated bearer …) of the spear.
“I don’t know whether to laugh or to cry” to hear “sudden objections” to the imposition of tariffs. President Trump was very shrewd (of course …) when he first released that very-detailed “country table of tariffs,” then let it be known that the numbers were 50% of the amount that we have for many years been paying.
Yes, a wrench that I sell to you will cost you $20. But a wrench going the other way costs $10. “Yeah! Got a problem with that?” (Me, too.)
Perhaps we should introduce a new acronym: “MAAA = Make America Autonomous Again.” (Or does that sound too much like a sheep?) 🐏
“In any case, clue ‘ya!” If you do not put [your_country] FIRST, in every single thing that you do and that you negotiate with others, “nobody else ever will!” 💡 And why should they? They’re looking out for [their_country]! As any rational human being would.
If you’re stupid, trust me: they won’t say a thing, except to reassure you suck-ah just how gosh-darn “smart” you are. 🤡
Yeah, we put slogans and four-letter acronyms on hats and things, and our President wears them. But it’s so much deeper than that . . . and the depth of the problem (and, the utter depravity) is yet(!) to be known.
Rand is a Maverick!
Spit!
That picture says a thousand words!!
Indeed!
