I agree, but we were told everything was all hunky dory before that Oval Office meeting, and they even had a nice ceremony and everything, and if Bessent was at the finger-tapping stage beforehand, that sounds like they would have anticipated that the on-camera meeting wasn’t going to go smoothly.
With the exception of PDJT himself, I wonder how Zelensky is supposed to ascertain who are the good guys and bad guys he is dealing with now?

Too late for me, I’ve been firmly on the side of “get rid of the stupid and harmful mistake” for decades now.
The DST all year round thing seems to be relatively recent, and many of them seem to be from the crowd that think DST somehow gives us more daylight.

I remember that, and I also remember the after-work hours that were dark as being in the coldest part of the year when we don’t do so many outdoor things we need light for anyway.
I almost always did things that were indoors with lights on in the dark months.
I also always enjoyed the after-work hours in the summer where we could sit out on the porch or patio with friends, after dark. It’s not as if I was coming home from work and hitting the beach.
As far yard work, I did that early in the morning on weekends, when I was working. The days are naturally longer in the summer anyway.
As for its beaing dark for the commute home, that’s only a short period of time before it gets lighter again, and the other way is the same, it’s darker driving to work with DST.
Many small farmers also have to work at regular jobs. DST allows more time to safely do chores after work.
I have an opinion as well but so does the other side.
I dislike it getting so dark so early in the winter. But I dislike that it stays so light so late in the summer.
But. I will get over my disappointment no matter what happens.

One of my favorites. You know where they got the idea for the song? The writer was leaving his apartment building and a man did go up to the doorman and ask for the time. The doorman responded “does anybody really know what time it is?”
Nope sundials worked for years before digital or even analog clocks.

I think my seminal moment may have occurred way back in my formative years, when I realized what DST actually did, as opposed to what most grownups were saying about its giving us more hours of daylight.
When I was four or five years old I just accepted the “giving us longer days’ bit, even though for the longest time I thought it had to have been for more than that, like to corrects some glitch, similar to Leap Year.
By the time I was maybe 10 years old, I had that “hey, wait a minute” epiphany. We were learning things in school about the Earth’s rotation around the sun, and the solar equinox, etc., and that got me thinking more about Daylight Saving Time, and I knew then that many adults believed something that was just plain wrong and unscientific and ridiculous.
So when the government started leaving DST year round or tinkering with the start to “save energy”, I already knew that people in elective office will vote on something they know nothing at all about, without even having read a book or anything.

I like DST. It doesn’t work well in the winter for kids (especially) and others who have to go to school or work early because that would make too many dark hours in the morning.
However, in the summer, when there IS more daylight (on bo th ends of the day), this doesn’t happen, and it does enable more after-work time that is during daylight to enjoy for those of us who actually have to be at work from 8 a.m. until well after 6 p.m.
I really wish the retirees would stop their bitching. Change the hours you get up and go to sleep. Those who still go to school or work can’t change the hours that government offices, courts, and businesses open and close.

Maybe I’m missing something but how would it even be feasible for a Chinese vendor to do that?
If the Chinese vendor sells something for $10, then they get charged a tariff (currently 125%) which is $12.5 which they would need to pass on to the customer.
They could lower the price of the item to make the tariff lower, but it seems like they would lose money on the item (or make less profit). However the US government still knows how much is actually being transferred either way…

I’ve seen that on a small scale myself way back when I used to order electronic modules and components from China on eBay. Even though the US had the de minimis provision, other countries didn’t, so they apparently made it standard operating procedure to grossly under-quote on the customs label the price of the item. I never trusted China with anything worth over a very small amount anyway, but they still marked things down.

This caused high numbers of serious side effects from the use of that technology even though those side effects are most likely mostly due to the spike protein itself and not the mRNA delivery mechanism. Those adverse effects were heavily suppressed in media in an attempt to counter the PLA’s goal.
They counted on US involvement including US intel agencies wanting an inside look at what the PLA/CCP was doing at the Wuhan lab to ensure an enthusiastic cover-up in the West.
They knew the pandemic would stop cold the worst anti-CCP demonstrations since Tienanmen Square in Hong Kong.

I’m in Cali, and I got covid November of 2019. My husband got it at work and brought it home. Everyone he worked with were dropping like flies for 2 weeks at a time.

If you’ve been hanging around this cite for even a little while you should be aware the consensus among posters is that the RT-Pcr is a fraudulent test when used for diagnostic purposes. That’s because the guy who invented it said his test was unreliable when used to diagnose someone.

And one other thing. The RT-PCR test is scientific gold standard used to prove Covid exists. Imagine that- a fraudulent test is what keeps Covid alive.

– No more bankruptcy exemption. Force lenders to underwrite both students and programs or run the risk of a bankruptcy filing after graduation that causes the lender to eat the balance.
– Ban co-signers on such loans as void due to public policy. No, Mom and/or Dad do not get stuck if you can’t pay post-graduation.
The amount charged for a perceived as needed “product” or “service,” in this case a so-called “education,” will rise to the cost the customers can bear. Imagine that, otherwise known as “basic economics.”

I don’t understand the Karo Syrup. Why would you give that to a child? In my generation we used milk to feed babies when not breastfed. My cousin was allergic to cow milk so he was given goat milk. I do not understand the formula need….cow milk worked fine. Of course today you would have to use organic cow milk because of all the hormones and antibiotics in regular milk.

President Trump says he is optimistic, and thinks that a good agreement is reachable (at the right time) with a phone call.
If the general agreement is to decouple the current slave labor / cheap crap / America hollowed out relationship, that doesn’t necessarily mean a zero trade future.
Trade can be beneficial between competitors who are both looking to strengthen their middle classes.
You know what we have that China doesn’t? Cheap, plentiful wheat, soybeans, and corn.
And cheap energy, if we drill baby drill. China imports huge amounts of oil. They do not have that resource domestically, and the coal smoke is making their people sick.
You know what we are very good at making that China could agree to let us sell?
Cars.
There are perhaps a billion adults in China. I’m not sure what the market penetration for car ownership is, but it isn’t very high. The roads are good, but there are no suburbs to speak of.
The roads are not clogged. The highway out of Beijing is basically deserted. City centers are busy, but it is mostly taxis.
The vast majority of Chinese get around on subway systems, buses, and huge flocks of motor scooters. Individual car ownership is a luxury for the rich or a business investment for a taxi driver.
The basic fact also is that the current Chinese model of pulling the entire population into megacities that are 30 miles straight of cheaply built high rises is a direct impediment to their need to produce babies to support the prior aging generations. The first one child policy generation is now hitting 50, I think. It is going to became crisis situation in a decade or two.
There have been moves to allow immigration, but let’s get real.
The Chinese people are lovely people. But, multiculturalism and racial heterogeneity are not their thing.
The answer is to make having children affordable and to make having larger families comfortable. In other words, China needs to start building suburbs with single family houses for young families who can be incentivized to have children. It needs both work and hope for a future for all those excess young men who will never have a wife or kids, too.
Expand the middle class.
Build single family homes, or at least townhouses.
Sell cars.
You know . . . Ford has a factory in Chongqing.
You what would be a good trade deal? Let Ford build and ship cars to China. Expand the Ford Chongqing operations.

We will see what happens, but I’m praying for no deal and a gradual breakup. Based on recent developments, I know this is not likely to be the outcome. I work in manufacturing, so maybe my perspective is a little different than most. I can reiterate what I wrote previously. I consider a “deal” with China to be not in America’s best interest. I say this because there is no “deal” that can be negotiated with them. We already got a bad trade deal in President Trump’s first administration. He tried hard, but it accomplished nothing. They didn’t abide by any of the terms, and they had no intention of doing so. Not one thing has changed. We can waste weeks negotiating a new deal, and I can already tell you it won’t be successful. Why? Because in order to have a successful agreement, both parties need to be operating in good faith. I’ll never forget listening to Ed Rollins on Lou Dobbs. He had negotiated with them a number of times. As he said, they tell you what you want to hear and then do nothing that they promised. This happened again, and again, and again. It will never change.
The best strategy that we can use is to keep tariffs high on China to force businesses to move elsewhere. As much as I love our country, most of these companies will not move back voluntarily. They’ll likely go to Vietnam or Mexico. It’s not ideal, but it’s better than the situation we have now. It also causes much less disruption, because they already have the manufacturing infrastructure needed for these products. If we negotiate a deal with China, you don’t have to worry about any reshoring, because it will never happen.

I knew he was crafty but also predictable.
