I’ve been buying a bit each day of PSCI (Invesco S&P SmallCap Industrials ETF) this week even though the price was going down. I’ve felt guilty buying a sure-thing at a low price! According to the future’s market, the entire stock market, including PSCI, is going to open much higher than it closed yesterday, probably because the doom-and-gloom news designed to get Trump to withdraw his tariffs has failed. Adding to Americans’ optimism, gasoline prices are about to fall because the price of crude oil fell from about $70 to $60 last week.
My main insight is that international stocks are a poor investment at the moment because the trade surplus countries are all about to enter recessions. On the other hand, those U.S. companies which produce and sell in the United States (including many of the S&P SmallCap Industrials) are about to boom.
This is a lot like 2020’s sell off. It’s not like all those companies suddenly because unprofitable. Feels like a herd move. Wait out out, look for deals, and remember if you’re older that you need to diversify into less volatile investments as you approach retirement.

I wouldn’t even call it speculation. Speculation, while an educated guess, is rational. This feels more like a panic sell off driven by media and oligarch fear mongering.

Europe’s stocks are weathering the storm and appear to be a safe haven for the current time.
It’s a temporary illusion, though, as when the kerfluffle and dust settle out, it will be American stocks poised to recover in a major way.
What we are seeing in the markets is a battle between the elephants over MAGA and President Trump, and the individual investors are like ants beneath their feet.
The markets cannot maintain this “crash reaction” for a very long time – it will eventually sort itself and settle out.
Most of it is fear mongering – many of the investing talking heads are feeding the fear. The rest of us are looking for the new buying opportunities that are opening up.

I no longer get invited to the cool kid parties because I pointed this out a couple of Christmases ago. A couple of DINK doctors were celebrating the elimination of standardized tests. I decided to take the bait, and pointed out colleges are now admitting kids who cannot do college level work requiring remedial coursework, and suffering high dropout rates.
They persisted arguing the DIE is more important.

By the looks on their faces, I hit a little too close to home. They’re in their 30’s expecting their first child. The reaction was all I needed to know that they were still trying to pay off their student loans.
What we’re doing to these young people is cruel. Their politics prevent them from noticing that they’ve been screwed deliberately screwed.

Obviously, they are either not very good…or just dumb.
The doctors should have bargained with the employer to pay off the student loans. I know of a neurosurgeon a hospital desperately wanted…it was rumored he got them to pay his malpractice insurance premiums….well over 100k a year, and that was 10+ years ago.
H1B has harmed as many Americans as DEI has.

And of course, a high school basic math course is actually middle school math. Says a lot about the great ivy league school.
Consider the Federal DIE and Remedial Program related Money, schools like Harvard, receive for admitting below standard students. Then there is the added tuition money they garner from those required to take the courses “to qualify to enroll” in a specific course at Harvard (meeting prerequisites).
Everybody is on the DEI gravy train … High Schools (public and private) that turn out illiterate graduates to the University Systems that accept the sub-standard student and provide a 5th year of High School.
This was happening in the early ’70’s.
I was at Northern Illinois U when they started recruiting “promising underpriviliged stidents” from the inner city and providing them with remedial math and English classes and spending money.
At the time, I thought it was great to give these kids a chance, but started getting a bit jaded when a close friend (paying her own way and maintaining a solid B+ average) was moved to a different dorm room because her “inner city” roommate took offense to being asked to turn off her TV after midnight so my friend could get some sleep.
Illinois was ahead of ‘the trend’ in 70’s because it is the home of Bill Ayers.

I think this is bunk. PDJT has extraordinary instincts and was playing dumb for Mr Rich.
I guess you never went to or watched a rally from the last election cycle then.
I did. He was campaigning and was proud of the barriers he removed. The actual vaccine, not so much. He knew pretty early that the vaccine was crap and the pharmas were lying under cover of the FDA.
He also said many times no one should be forced into taking the vaccine and that it was just one more way to treat Covid. I heard him say these things at the daily televised briefings he had with Birx and Fauci and sometimes Pence.
Trump was claiming the vaccine saved millions of lives, and taking credit for that, well after the vaccine was known to be causing great harm and death.
Yes, there were boos at some rallys because of it.
Millions were manipulated by “experts”, foreign adversaries, domestic adversaries, intelligence communities, and media and millions are still in a fog about covid.

I watched the video of Rich yesterday. While I believe Rich’s story about his interaction with President Trump, I also believe President Trump knows everything and may have been performing a little. Just a little.
It is my understanding that DOD took over the entire vaxx operation. Knowing that and the fact that President Trump was CIC of DOD at the time, why would he allow so many Americans to be poisoned by something he has control of? Doesn’t make any sense. Not one bit.

Didn’t Trump get the vaccine and say it works incredibly well for most of the population? There are many videos out there.
I can see it, but some people choose to be blind to some of Trump’s decisions, like Sessions, Barr and now Bondi.
Yes, he has great political instincts but he also makes poor decisions like the three above, and Trump did boast about the vaccines and the incredible speed that he was able to push the FDA to get it to the consumer. It was his biggest mistake, and he suddenly stopped talking about it.
If the vaccine had been a vaccine, pushing it through the red tape would have been a great accomplishment.
There were just so, so many mistakes or otherwise, it is almost unbelievable.

I believe the first shot mitigated the immediate death potential for non-diabetic people.. It did free up a lot of hospital beds. Anything after that, if you caught COVID, that is where the damage came from the spike protein, considering the great majority of America is on the scale for diabetes (and the Chinese know that.) I think the subsequent shots may have lowered your immune system and is the reason so many vaccinated people caught COVID again and again. Some people were already immune to this “novel” virus.
IIRC, he got monoclonal antibody treatment when he got Covid, not the vaccine.
I believe he did get vaccinated and also a booster.
I only heard about the first shot. They goaded him into it. If I were him, I would have gone for the saline.

I find the one thing I can do is to comment back to those expousing leftist viewpoints with questions about what is their policy solutions. Right now, especially with tariffs I point out we are trillions in debt, billions in daily interest and running out of time. Trump’s tariffs raise money from other countries. I ask what would they do, raise taxes? My point isn’t about being correct or even tariffs. My point is to move the conversation needle back to them and try to get them to think about real things other than orange man bad. I believe that engagement by Treepers will slowly impact their thinking. So many of their arguments have no basis in any policy or agenda. Treepers are far more qualified to raise discussion points than the lefts politicians who act solely on emotion. Can we fight rhetoric with knowledge? I hope so.
I find that leftists cannot be recalibrated. Many have severe TDS that clouds their judgment. I do my best to stay away from them.
You have a valid point. There are many hard core leftwing liberal democrats that are not able to comprehend anything but their own small minded beliefs. They will never see the rational big picture no matter how much evidence is put in front of them. Some are just incapable of changing and we need to accept that. Had Clinton and his Western allies maintained economic pressure on China, it is likely that there would be no Chinese Communist Party today.
The U.S. trade deficit with China was around five billion dollars in the mid-’80s. It has spiked to nearly four hundred billion dollars today! Excluding services and energy, mining, and agricultural products, the U.S. is running a manufacturing deficit of roughly half a trillion dollars with China every year. Since Clinton and the foreign policy gurus opened America’s doors to Chinese goods, the United States has outsourced most of its manufacturing to its chief geopolitical adversary.
Now, that’s a brilliant foreign policy! Three decades ago, China’s economy was fragile, and its future was uncertain. And though many economists would argue that China’s economy is still fragile today (centrally controlled communist systems always are), the Chinese Communist Party has never been more powerful. It has the largest military in the world, is expanding its naval and hybrid warfare capabilities at an exponential pace, and is becoming a real threat to American military supremacy.
Instead, the Chinese Communist Party has grown only more powerful over the last twenty-five years. China has become the planet’s premier manufacturing hub. Klaus Schwab’s World Economic Forum globalists are so envious of China’s technocratic surveillance that they regularly promote programs meant to remake the West in China’s image.
I get so angry when I see abandoned factories and dilapidated business districts across the United States. But then, all of the big American companies, especially Nike, Apple, and Boeing decided to make deals with the devil in order to maximize their profits and the rest, as they say, is history….didn’t help that the Governor of Washington State at the time was Gary Locke, a third generation American (but who did not speak English until he went to school at age 5) born of Chinese parents. He then later went on the be Obama’s Commerce Secretary and then Ambassador to China. He happily oversaw the entire process of outsourcing American jobs, and America’s trade secrets, to his parents’ homeland, and I assume, got rich in the process!
Pollution was a factor too.
So am I seeing this crap right happening either yesterday or today where the GOP is holding hearings on Trump’s tariffs? These MF’ers are so predictable. They did the same thing 2016 to 2018 and then basically spoon-fed the house to the democrats in the 2018 midterms.
We aren’t even 90 days into Trump II and they are angling again to undercut him. How much more of this will GOP voters need to see before they tell all these republicans to get stuffed. The GOP base fully supports what Trump is doing. This is what we outvoted the fraud to get. The GOP senators and congressmen were just barnacles on Trump’s massive political boat.
Still think the GOP is the lesser of two evils? All of the cancer in our government and society got there with big help from the GOP (for a fee of course).
Not sure how this gets fixed since a third-party is almost a non-starter and no GOP candidate is outvoting the fraud in 2028.

I’ve been saying this for awhile. Only way to get rid of them is to not vote for them. If we all sat out one election cycle they may get the hint.
There are three things about a service economy people need to understand.
First, a service economy creates no wealth. You have to produce something to create wealth. Without wealth creation the people cannot prosper.
Second, in a service economy where you just swap the existing dollars, the guy who charges the most for his services eventually ends up with all of the dollars.
Third, the people in a service economy still have to have goods. Whoever supplies the goods is exfiltrating money out of the economy. Therefore, there are fewer dollars for the people in the service economy to swap. A service economy is continually contracting and the people’s wealth is eroded away.
Many years ago, before the Motley brothers turned globalists…they advocated for buying stocks in a company that ‘makes’ something not a middleman type company…like say Apple…they make their product. Or JNJ who made gauze and other health care products. Unfortunately, now even the big boys ‘outsource’ their productions.
