President Trump smartly remained quiet after delivering the economic thunder-shock with his national security tariffs and new global trade expectations. Now President Trump takes questions from the media about the initial reactions to the seismic event he created.
“China needs to solve the problem of the trade deficit with have with them,” is codespeak for China needs to open their markets to U.S. companies that have already established a footprint, AND China needs to purchase U.S. goods. Despite the size of China, President Trump knows Beijing will never comply in earnest, so he gives the Panda a few words, but doesn’t give it too much time until the Dragon comes out from behind the mask.
President Trump notes he has “spoken to a lot of leaders from Europe and Asia” this weekend. However, now is that powerful moment in any negotiation when the principal has clearly outlined his position, then remain silent as the opposition responds. The “tariffs are instituted, they are not going away,” Trump said.
When questioned about having a “threshold” of “pain he is willing to tolerate,” President Trump notes the “question is stupid.” We are responding to opposition who are playing a zero-sum game, there is no level of pain too intolerable when ultimately your survival as a nation is at stake. Either we do, and win – or, we do not and die, that is our current status.
When questioned about having a zero-tariff agreement with Europe, President Trump references the scale of the imbalance. “There’s no talk possible” with the EU unless they acquiesce. Every country wants to make a deal, but “this is not sustainable” President Trump repeats.
When questioned about Tik Tok, President Trump notes there was a likely deal with China, but then Beijing responded to the tariffs and said the deal around the social media platform ownership was no longer possible. Trump doesn’t care, he wants a TikTok deal; but ultimately, the tariffs are more important.
President Trump then weaves through the Russia conflict, bombs are still bad, and the Middle east conflict, Gaza is still full of terrorists, and moves directly into domestic national security.
President Trump then reaffirms he has not agreed to reduce, soften or smooth any tariffs against any nation. The tariffs are in place, they will remain in place, and the global trade reset will continue until America wins. Period.
The remarks were ‘Full force Big Ugly‘ and the winnamins were flying off the shelves for 15 straight minutes. I could not be more proud of our president.
HOLD THE LINE !

Winamins are flying off the shelves!
Winamins are made right here in Big Beautiful Country of ours, with zero side effects. They promote the bottom line of main street with a surge of Patriotism.

Even the ‘lesser’ pop tunes of that era are superior to nearly anything on the radio today.
We’ve fallen so far.

I concur wholeheartedly.
It’s not in the way that you TARIFF me it’s the way TAKE IT from me!
Best part they are being paid for by the globalists.
I bet little George Bush is not very happy about this New World Order.
George Bush. I was so wrong in supporting him. I didn’t see the light until Donald Trump began his 2015 campaign.

@berniemoreno
It’s fascinating to watch democrats and their media allies gas light Americans by telling them car prices *might* go up with tariffs by up to $6,000.
During the Biden administration, car prices *actually* went up by $8,000 (20%). Total silence.

Nearly ALL of the Obiden Installation was spent in RECESSION also.
Solution: keep changing the definition and #ObamaOmerta (***moar crickets***).
But don’t you know “it wasn’t a recession”!!! They conveniently revised the definition of recession just like they revised the definition of vaccines.
Liars gotta lie.
WOW! Thanks for the graphic!
Oh, Bernie. He’s always good for a chuckle.
It’s also fascinating how some folks suddenly care about car prices when tariffs are on the table, but completely ignore why prices went up during the pandemic years – global supply chain chaos, chip shortages, labor disruptions, and record demand. That $8,000 increase didn’t happen in a vacuum or because of a single administration.
Tariffs, on the other hand, are a policy CHOICE – one that directly adds cost to imports and doesn’t solve root problems. So yeah, warning consumers about another $6,000 jump isn’t gaslighting – it’s just basic economics.
Car prices are already unaffordable for the average American. It makes no difference to me whether a new car is $50,000 or $75,000. Anything above $25,000 was already out of reach.
Why should I care about raised prices for foreign made cars, especially knowing it is entirely possible to make an American made Omega car for $20,000 that gets 100 mpg using diesel – but our stupid current system won’t let us make it?
Too screwed up for words.
Allow me to raise a Middle Finger to BMW, Mexico, and Canada.
Liberate American ingenuity in the auto manufacturing field. Kill the regulations. Restore our freedom to roam, unsurveilled and unafraid.
That is why now they give you a 10 year loan.
I bought my condo in super swanky North Arlington, Virginia, before the swank happened, for $97K 25 years ago.
I went to look at trucks a few months back and they were starting at $85K. When the sales guy approached me, I said by all means illuminate for me why I should buy a depreciating asset that costs virtually as much as my first property? He had no answer other than, that’s just the cost these days.
Silent Lucidity
It’s all fun and games until someone breaks out Queensryche.
Who do you trust when everybodys a crook?
Same with me. I bought a duplex in 1991 for $42k. I bought my 2005 F250 4×4 new for $35k. Today I rent the duplex out for $2k total a month. I am keeping my old F250…bill
I bet that old 250 is in better shape than some of the dreck being produced today!!
ha ha he had NO chance of getting me in a sales booth!!
Why won’t they allow it to be built?
Safety regulations?
Yes.
You need to be safe and in one piece when a drunk illegal with no driver’s license and insurance T-bones you and the missus. Somebody has to pay.
Thank you, I made a similar observation. If I’m already priced out why do I care.
On a side topic; I wish new cars did not go full retard in that the dashboards are now all “touchscreens”; if you have to take your glasses off or put them on when going between looking at the road and your dashboard, it increases risk of accidents. I prefer the pre-2010 dasboards that have knobs of different sizes that you can just reach out and touch without taking your eyes off the road. I had to take my old car to the shop and got a loaner vehicle; it took 30 minutes to figure out how to adjust the fan, the AC, the radio and several “clicks” by a console “master knob”. That’s why pilot dashboards are all knobs and dials so they can see everything and access everything quickly without multiple steps.
California is now putting up a bill (AGAIN) to tax everyone for every mile. I don’t want Govt. tracking my FREE movements. I hate all the computerized stuff on cars for Navigation.
What say you readers??
Agree 100%.
Btw, you need to post more often. You’re an interesting read and add much to the conversations.
I bought new, a 1967, Ford Mustang – for* $3,400.00*. I believe it was the second year the Mustang came out. Ah, those were the days my friend….. :):)
Just bought a 2024, Chevy Trax for $34,000.00 – Times have changed!!!!!
Your point supports the argument that tariffs are necessary for national security. The global supply chain needs to be replaced with a national supply chain.
What about the “transitory” inflation, which was steeped in a semi veiled choice and complete lie. The green new deal was a disaster based on outright lies.
Ahem!!! The green new scam….
We will see. I remember when the tariff on Aluminum was going to double the cost of a can of beer or soda pop until Secretary Ross pointed out there was only 2 cents worth of aluminum in the can.
Can you tell me why the Marshall Plan is still in force 80 years after WWII ended? Grandma always told me if you have to buy friends they aren’t worth having. Maybe it’s just simplistic thinking on my part but it seems like the only friends we have are the ones we buy. Everyone has their hand out to Uncle Sap!
… and Grandma is always right.
Well, today, those 2 pennies are now worth about 5 pennies?
So other counties can tax our products shipped to their country but we can’t tax their products?
Explain how that is fair.
Fairness isn’t a real consideration here. There should be a premium to accessing our economy and the benefit should go to Americans. Re-industrializing this country is paramount for strategic purposes – wouldn’t hurt economically either, particularly for the young Americans.
It is not a policy decision. You are either a bot or a mouthpiece for the liberals.
Once again this is not a policy decision, this is the American citizens electing a President to destroy globalism that is destroying our country.
We the people are not a policy decision. We are the MAGA.
They foreign nations that are screaming about tariffs know that THEY are going to eat the cost of the tariffs in order to compete with foreign nations who make a deal with PDJT AND Made in America companies.
They know that if they dare try to pass all of the tariff costs onto the US consumer that they will not be able to compete. They prefer the current system whereby they get to cheat Americans and America.
“Tariffs, on the other hand, are a policy CHOICE…”
Shutting down the entire global economy was a policy CHOICE. The wrong one, compounded by another policy CHOICE, spending money on bailouts and stimmies. How about the policy CHOICE of declaring some peoples’ labor as non-essential? And let’s not forget the policy CHOICE of mandating the jab. No there’s been a lot of choices, some Trump’s, some Congress’s, and many Biden’s or whoever did the job for him that have exacerbated the situation.
So is self emulation a.policy choice because we have been burning for 50 years. SO when fire fighters put out a fire thats just a policy choice to.
Sometimes one needs to admit that the paradigms you were trained.to accept just done work anymore.
Why are you rambling on about the Left?
The Left is not in control right now. Period.
“Selective outrage” is what the Left lives by.
The screech is coming from the same Wall Street that grew fat and happy during Biden’s dissembling of Main Street, I didn’t see any wailing or teeth gnashing as flyover was mercilessly crushed in the wake, all shamelessly made possible by DC malfeasance AND fascist maneuvering by an administration focused on crushing voices of dissent
Wall Street will no longer be the yardstick providing a handy metric for assessing the “paper”economy, it will be what happens in fuel and grocery prices and job creation in the near term…REMEMBER…Wall Street will NOT be the primary beneficiary…IT WILL BE MAIN STREET
Clinton, Bush and Obama did more to wipe out Main Street than Biden did.
The creepy * junta just drove in what they thought was the final nail.
I believe you’re right. Course, that’s 24 years worth of degradation vs Biden’s(or whom and whatever) 4 years of degradation. Then there’s the Uniparty puppet control Congress for over at least 4 decades to consider.

It was an example of a real journalist doing the job, Navarro was clear and succinct, and the result was an informative news show. What a treat!

“This is why Speaker Johnson must go. His statement is laced with neocon paranoia, stupidity, lies and hollow excuses for warmongering.”

Not sure any of this applies?
…. and respectfully is it on topic?
Navarro is the best one!!!! Those are some scary teeth.

Even those who advise broker houses are saying “no one should be surprised at all that he made this move.”
They are telling their advisors to Hold the Line. Although they believe there will be negotiations.
But they do say the market will not tolerate this severe downturn for long. And that is the truth.
And even though this correction was bound to happen as the market is in a bubble, everyone is in shock. Go figure.
The Big Ugly is here and even though there are those unwilling to make sacrifices, they should be grateful they’re not
sacrificing their lives. The founders were willing to sacrifice their lives, honor, AND fortunes.

Ma’am anyone who hasn’t been on warfooting since 2019 hasn’t been paying attention.
Working stiffs with few to no investments or retirement have been aware that we have been in trouble for quite some time. The investor class thought they’d be insulated more than the peasants.
Whatever sick genius directly tied the bulk of retirement accounts with the Un-American Activities of GloboCorp. should be horsewhipped.
Please correct me if I am wrong, but it has been my impression that tying American’s retirements to the stock market casino was accomplished when company pensions for the most part were eliminated. People who are currently retired or close to retirement are undoubtedly worried watching this current situation play out. If we successfully uncouple from the unsustainable globalist mindset of the market, won’t future valuations be based on a changed reality? I am just asking. I am not an economist, just a retired housewife.
I have to admit, this has been a very hard week for me and probably not for the reason most people think. I’m one of the few who couldn’t care less about the precipitous drop in the stock market. Why? Because I’ve followed the markets for a long time, and I know they’ll rebound. I say it repeatedly, but look at a long-term chart of the S&P, and I rest my case. President Trump has spoken about reshaping our trade policy since 2015 (and apparently, well before that). He has been very clear about wanting to use tariffs as anyone who has followed him knows.
Now all of a sudden, Wall Street and the communist MSM are in complete shock. We didn’t know you were going to use tariffs, we didn’t know they would be this high. You didn’t? For being smarter than everyone else, they clearly haven’t listened over the last 10 years. He did exactly what he said he was going to do, and everyone acts like they’re caught completely off guard. I guess that our sleazy business community expected their lobbyists to handle the situation and that President Trump would fall in line.
What bothers me the most is all of the noise. This is probably our one and only chance to change the trajectory of trade and reshape our national economy. Unfortunately, we have practically the entire world against us. You have the full power of Wall Street and the MSM fighting this tooth and nail. They think that they drive policy and that we are subservient to their demands. They’re forgetting that we have a government of the people, by the people, for the people. Their end game to me is clear…keep the market in a freefall and President Trump will relent. As I see it (and I think Sundance does too), that is the absolutely worst thing he could do. They’ll say the tariffs are over, they didn’t work, let’s go back to the status quo. That same status quo that will drive us off of a cliff.
I think my biggest disappointment though has been people. I have no expectations for the business community, the media, or politicians. I would never count on them to do what’s right. What’s really annoying are the people who purport to be Trump supporters screeching like the world is coming to an end. As soon as the going gets tough, they immediately revert to the “me, me, me” mentality: “I can’t have any impact, this better not affect my life in any way, I hope he knows what he’s doing, prices better not go up – I’m on a fixed income.” Are you that impatient that at the first sign of trouble, you want to throw your hands in the air? That’s like surrendering your autonomy to the media and Wall Street. Let’s just revert back to the status quo, because we couldn’t possibly endure any short-term disruption. I was astounded that even here there were people complaining (trolls maybe)? Not to mention all the finance “experts” who are more concerned about the “global” economy than our own country…Jim Cramer, Bill Ackman, Steve Liesman. I saw that Bill Ackman insisted that the tariffs be paused for 90 days to avoid a total meltdown. It’s amazing that we’ve managed to progress as far as we have with so many people afraid of change and disruption.
I may not love every aspect of our country, but I still love my country. I can’t think of an issue more important than overtaking China. The tariff policy has the potential to destabilize them and send their economy into a complete tailspin. That would be a major win for the United States.
I hope that they pass a tax bill soon, and I think President Trump should penalize extremely high earners (say $1M and above). Bannon has been advocating pretty heavily for this, and I think I now agree with him. Reduce the tax burden for those under say $150K and use the tariffs to offset the loss of revenue. I wouldn’t go out of my way to reward the top 1%…they’ve been the most resistant to President Trump’s agenda.
At the end of the day, all I’m saying is to remain positive and stay the course. Things will get better. I take all of these bumps so personally, because I want President Trump to be successful. His success becomes our success. It will be a bumpy ride but very worthwhile in the end.
I agree, and when you’ve been around for a while, you can see the macro.
In this situation it is preemptive , and it is more controlled, and there is
much guaranteed light at the end of it.
If it the Trade Deficit imploded on us, we’d be in very bad shape.

Don Surber figured out the psychology behind reciprocal tariffs when he wrote in his commentary this morning:
“[Trump] is using tariffs as behavior modification for both foreign governments as well as manufacturers.

The media shouting is 100% about amplifying any stock market decline and undermining consumer confidence. Totally fabricated market beating. Perfectly offsets them pretending we didn’t live through a Biden recession.

It’s what they do.

We wouldn’t have a wealth disparity that we have now if we hadn’t shipped all of the manufacturing out of this country. That wealth was exfiltrated by global corporations, Wall street, and paid off politicians. All of them are at the top end of the earnings curve and while I’ve been against punitive and confiscatory tax schemes, it may be time they have to rebalance what they took over the last 30-40 years.

Winning, if small businesses can survive.
I voted for Trump 3 times but this is not what I voted for. I need to feed my family he is making it harder to do so.
How many small businesses can survive for 6-12 months while we wait for American manufacturers?
What about all the products on the water that were priced at pre-tariff margins? Trump thinks small businesses can simply eat the losses.
What exactly did you vote for? He’s doing exactly what he’s promised. If this is preventing you from feeding your family, you don’t have a good business.
He is doing what I voted for. I’m thrilled with the action on USAID and personnel reductions. I just wish the CDC,FDA, NIH, FBI,CIA, and JUDGES could be flushed faster.

Oh stop. You apparently just survived four years of Biden’s egregious inflation. Your business should be able to survive a few months of some supplies being priced (maybe, maybe not, it’s dubious) a little higher. Meanwhile, other things are coming down, such as shipping because of oil and gas.
.
Why would you take losses? You sell products at a markup and that price is set based on demand. Is this changing that? Are you selling overpriced cheap crap that will no longer be as cheap?

We are in total commitment to his plan and cannot waver.
The left (globalists, democrats, media, etc.) is “all in” to destroy Trump and us too. We must be “all in” to support him. There can be no waffling or backing down.
I always remember his line….”its you they are after, I just stand in the way”.

First Campaign Promise: “I will be your voice.” May God bless you, President Trump.

Slings, arrows, and actual bullets!
Chris Sununu for Senate, seriously? Won’t he be just another Mitt Romney a DecepitCon Senator??? “Sununu has historically been a critic of the former president and originally endorsed former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley in the 2024 GOP presidential primary, but he is now backing Trump. In April, he said he is in support of Trump in spite of the fact that he thinks the former president “contributed” to the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riots.”

BREAKING: The European Union is suddenly ready to negotiate for “zero-for-zero” tariffs with the United States after running their mouth about retaliating.
Trump’s tariffs are working.
Video linked…
Notice she only said; ” Zero for zero tariffs on industrial goods.”
Wonder what/how she defines “industrial goods” and nonindustrial goods?
Why would we bother? This is a price of admission to our market. We want these industries to move here.
The man we elected is doing exactly what we elected him to do.
Destroy Globalism! They attempted to destroy our country. I am in this fight to the finish.

You and me too, Sundance
So someone started a rumor this morning Trump would pause the tariffs.
Market skyrockets then Trump says that’s not true so the market tanks.
Sounds like someone is manipulating this to try and hurt the administration.
Make things look worse than they are.
Anyone who is stupid enough to make investments based upon a rumor deserves the spanking that they get. That’s why I have a Truth Social account and an X account. Until I hear it from the original source then I won’t believe it.
100% manipulated. This is all being driven by Wall Street (essentially institutional investors throwing a hissy fit). They’re acting like 2 year olds throwing a tantrum, because they’re not getting their way. They want cheap labor, love Commie China, and think being a “service-based” economy is ideal. They don’t give a damn about our country.
💯🎯💯‼️
Very easy way for an “options day-trader” to make good money in a single afternoon …
No – it sounds like TRUMP is manipulating the market for his buddies.
Why can’t you see this??
Because we see right through concern trolling. You better go listen to more CNN.
Trump decided to go big on tariffs. He and his administration own all of this.
That’s just a fact.
Not sure what you’re trying to prove. You come here acting like you’re sharing earth shattering information. We’re all in support of the tariffs. You can concern troll all you want, but we’re not interested in a word you say.
I wish we commenters had a way to block trolls like him.
Because you made it up.
We cannot see it because it is not true. 🙂

Give ’em hell, Donald!
thank YOU, PT, for YOUR attention to this matter!😁
I love the “Thank you for your attention to this matter” at the end. Such a nice touch!
Just a quick note.
My son showed me a posting of twitter apparantly from Hasset
Sayinb POTUS is considering a 90 day pause on tarriffs for everyone
But China..
However the White house came out and said it was Fake News.
Lets hope so..
Of course it’s fake news. Team Trump (Hassett, Navarro, Vance, and Lutnick) were all over the news for the last few days completely spelling out what PDJT is doing. Giving in to the screams would show weakness. PDJT never shows weakness.

BREAKING: The market has quickly reversed, wiping out losses and moving rapidly into positive territory, presumably on news the EU is willing to negotiate zero for zero tariffs with the US.
Cont (graph linked)…
There are still Value Added Taxes (VATs) which need to be addressed in addition to the tariffs.
Bingo, you have most definitely paying attention.
Mr Navarro explained all the sneaky crap they use to screw us.
That game is over.
Of course. Navarro talked about this when the Fox news lady was interviewing him yesterday, I believe.
I used to deal with the EU. A bunch of entitled losers for the most part. I shut down that business last year because it wasn’t worth the bother – and it was interfering with my early retirement.
Any ideas what the Federal Reserve is doing / will do in response? I feel like they are dumping holdings onto the market, especially MBS, to keep yields & rates elevated.
Why would they need a compromised middle man?
I was watching this and just smiling. I loved how he called out that young little lose from globalist cheering Bloomsburg News.
I wish he would have said to her , ” What’s the matter little brat is your boss losing his shirt now? Is your globalist boss crying now that we MAGA know the game is up and he wont be robbing us anymore?
Winning !!!!!!!
Like a boss! This is the only language they understand.

CCP income will be crushed by this move. When they seek relief, part of the solution will likely be a cessation of material support to Russia. Russia has no motivation for peace in Ukraine as long as it is winning. CCP support assists that (dual use tech, oil purchases). CCP stated objective is destruction of western capitalism. Take them at their word and act accordingly. Note that the countries assisting the CCP by trans-shipping goods not only got hammered on the tariff lists, they are flocking to announce trade renegotiations with the US. Part of that is the end of trans-shipment. Part is likely to concern end runs on Russian sanctions.
When our SGPDJT acts look for the actual objective in the 3rd or 4th dimension.
There is a strange dichotomy of blunt messaging and subtle policy leveraging that other administrations do in reverse. They are all message, no substantive policy. You see the Democrats complain if we had “just messaged it better” all the time.
That ruckus you hear in the capital markets is the sickening howl of the Fugazy Economy meeting its extinction. Fugazy means fake, unreal, dishonest, misaligned to what societies need to thrive. Fugazy means mis-using the time-value of things that purport to be wealth to multiply fake wealth in the hands of a few at the expense of the many. The pernicious effects of that system are visible all across the ruined landscape of our country, a nation of broken cities, failed towns, and a demoralized populace.

POTUS should start referring to Bloomberg as Doomberg.
If the rumors are true that President Trump may pause the tariffs for 90 days, he better be arrested quickly.
That is 100% market manipulation.
The only manipulation is the media and institutional investors colluding to drive down the market. All this talk of Black Monday and the DOW losing 8000 points. That’s manipulation.
Nope. Trump and his administration own all of this. The good and the bad.
It is clear as day what’s going on here. Read my lips – Wealth. Transfer.
Go back under your bridge little troll. The adults are trying to have a decent conversation, and your blathering and complaining , and concerns we are choosing to ignore.
Good grief.
They are not sending their best Concern Trolls over here.
Yeah, you would think they could come up with something better than that.
Not every registered Republican is a Trump cult member who agrees with everything he does.
You are on the wrong site.
Have a nice day! 🙂
He sounds like a devoted Bulwark fanboy.
I guess you are late to the “news”. It was debunked the minute the fake news was broadcast…. which was about an hour or so ago.
A trillion dollar deficit with China? TRY 285 billion in 2024. Trump is a liar. I mean, 285 billion is bad enough, isn’t it? Why lie about it?
Using a derogatory leftist slur against our President is sure to win you friends… just not around here 🙂
President Trump is being quite honest (and more knowledgeable than you it seems) about the situation with China.
From below linked CBS News:
“China has the world’slargest trade surplus, amounting to almost $1 trillion last year, according to Statista.
“The U.S., on the other hand, has the world’s largest trade deficit. In other words, China produces and the rest of the world consumes — and the U.S. consumes the lion’s share of what China is making.
“There is a recognition that the global trading system is broken in some very fundamental way, and these [imbalances] have to be resolved, and they will be, one way or another“
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-tariffs-china-trade-war-experts-on-long-term-implications/
——————–
In order to reset America’s economy, President Trump knows he must reset the rules for global trade –it’s all connected. We can’t solve this for America without addressing the $1 trillion global surplus with China.

BREAKING: The S&P 500 gains $4 trillion following EU announcement of interest in zero for zero tariffs with United States.
Cont…
The problem with China is that their word isn’t worth anything. They lie, cheat, and steal while telling you what you want to hear. Nothing ever changes. I want to decouple completely from them. This notion that we can have a harmonious relationship is preposterous. Trump just came out and said he’ll levy an even higher tariff on them if they retaliate in any way. That’s the only language they understand.
https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/114297331052690348
PDJT knows that. I think that his goal is to strike an economic blow to China that will put a massive hurt on them. One that hurts then so massively that they shrink their global influence down to themselves.
Then the CCP will be unable to afford to bribe leaders to sell out their nations, fund all of their cheating globally, fund university groups, and sneak their citizen armies into other nations.
I look forward to them needing to sell off all of the American land that they purchased and leave their influence in American universities.
My thoughts exactly. He wants to inflict real damage. He’s not playing nice like all these other incompetent politicians before him. They don’t understand nice, which has become abundantly obvious.
Bingo.
