I am all for Trump’s tariffs but let me answer your question. Used car prices will go up until the tariffs level out. With less new cars being sold due to high prices, there will be less used cars. Remember people that need a different car that cannot afford the higher prices of new cars will now also start looking at newer used cars. It is basic supply and demand, with less new cars and more buyers used car prices will rise. Trump was honest saying their would be some pain from the tariffs, but I agree they will work for the US and it’s citizens in the long run.

Tariffs are like EZ pass fees for crossing the border. Don’t cross the border and you don’t pay the fee.
The imported car already paid a tariff to enter the country. If you ship it out and in again, then it will trigger more tariffs.
The only other reason the price would go up is, you have now made imports more expensive, so the demand for cheaper used cars will go up as a substitute for imports. Rising demand with fixed supply equals higher prices, so the used car market could heat up (as a sellers market). But that’s not because of a tariff on that used vehicle.

Trump’s tariffs are a long overdue correction to a regime that bought into liberal globalisation dogma. America does not need trade. It is large enough and diverse enough to provide for most of its needs. Outsourcing manufacturing to China was a grave and costly mistake. Switching from tangible production to debt-fuelled services consumption has been a disaster for the working class. For America, globalisation meant exporting jobs and importing a fentanyl epidemic.
Finally, Trump is attempting to rebalance the economy, and rebuild manufacturing in America. This is what he was elected to do. The writing has been on the wall since 2016. Even the Democrats recognized the necessity. Whoever occupies the White House, America is instinctively protectionist. There’s a reason the Biden administration never unjammed the WTO.
The EU, of course, is the contrasting vision, which sought to banish tariffs in favour of non-tariff barriers. It was a means to maximise is regulatory power and co-opt the institutions of globalisation for its own purposes. For Europe, that meant regulating its own economies into oblivion, handing the advantage to China and India. As Europe specialised in services, while dismantling its own energy production and manufacturing, it handed production of everything from solar panels and cars to China, while outsourcing tech jobs to India.
For the West as a whole, globalisation has led to massive economic imbalances and deindustrialisation, exacerbated by Net Zero policies which have seen energy bills skyrocket and economies contracting accordingly. While the EU boasts its status as a regulatory superpower, it has made Europe increasingly irrelevant. Soft power only works when it’s the prevailing approach worldwide. China meanwhile has been stockpiling and flooding the word with cheap goods with a view to cornering markets internationally. You demolish the competition then raise prices. That policy makers in the west failed to acknowledge what was happening, choosing to treat China as a market economy and an honest broker in the WTO system, is nothing short of criminal.
As a consequence, China not only dominates in manufacturing, (largely based on stolen IP), it has now become the leading innovator in manufacturing processes, robotics and CAD. The very jobs liberal globalists imagined they would retain.
This is something the Trump administration is resolved to correct. In a recent speech JD Vance articulated much of this. The USA is now playing hardball with a view to getting a better deal for American workers. Trump also sees tariffs as an important negotiating tool in geopolitical affairs. He is seeking to unburden the US taxpayer of the responsibility for European defence.
He’s not wrong in that either. European states have been gold-plating their welfare systems while dismantling their own armed forces, on the arrogant assumption that the USA would guarantee European security. Since the USA regards China as a potential enemy in its own backyard, it will do no favours for Europe when its trade and energy policies continue to hand the advantage to China.
The realities of what is now described as a “multi-polar world” have not yet dawned on the EU leadership, which is still pressing ahead with its Net Zero delusions, while agitating for a prolonged war with Russia. Trump wants no part of this, and he is not wrong. Meanwhile, EU technocrats are more concerned with propping up the liberal “international rules-based order” not least because the EU’s own survival depends on holding back the wave of protectionist sentiment.
This upending of the liberal order has also wrong-footed the British political class. Labour, a neoliberal internationalist party, instinctively prefers to shackle us ot the corpse of the EU, and now seeks to tie us into Europe’s eco-protectionism (CBAM) and would rejoin the customs union if they thought they could get away with it. That way lies ruin, but at the same time, it isn’t a vindication of Brexiters who’d bet the farm on a comprehensive FTA with the USA, when there has never been any clear signal that such a thing were likely, possible, or even desirable. Meanwhile, the free-trade radicals on the Tory right would still opt for unilateral tariff disarmament. They pushed for a “WTO Brexit” just as the USA decided to demolish the entire WTO system.
What’s required now is a far less dogmatic approach that establishes what is in Britain’s best interests. It is not in our interests to shackle ourselves to EU deindustrialisation policies, it is not in our interests to liberalise trade with India, and it is not in our interests to become a vassal of the USA in the hope that Trump might throw us a bone. A lower rate of 10% tariffs is as good as it gets.
As such, trade policy is much like defence policy. You can’t equip your army unless you know who it is going to fight and where. You can’t really expect a coherent trade policy unless you know what your domestic objectives are. If the aim is to reshore manufacturing, protect agriculture, and rebuild a strategic steel-making capability then that should inform our approach. It should also inform energy policy. Our predicament can no longer withstand infantile Net Zero delusions.
Unlike America, Britain still needs trade. We are not in a position to throw our weight around. There is bullet to bite. What’s needed is a grown-up assessment of priorities, recognising that “international rules-based order” was a temporary aberration, and is very very dead. If our political class cannot comprehend this, they will take us all down with them.

This is an assessment of the Georgia Election Case just dismissed. It is astounding because the voting system in question is exactly the same used in most states, including where I live in TX. The voter complete a paper ballot, then the voters paper ballot inputs are converted to a barcode … the voter feeds the ballot into another computer which reads the BAR CODE …. but the voter is given zero feedback on how the second computer, reading the bar code, interpreted the bar code … the voter has no idea what was entered into the system to record their vote!!
Evidence throughout the hearing showed how easy it is hack the computers, alter bar codes , et al.
This Federal Judge wrote that VOTERS have NO standing to challenge if the voting system correctly counts their vote if they were able to cast their vote unimpeded.
