President Trump held a press availability with Kid Rock to sign an executive order authorizing the Federal Trade Commission to respond to live entertainment ticket sale scalping {EXECUTIVE ORDER HERE}.
The intent of the XO is to stop automated bots from purchasing live entertainment tickets and reselling them for a higher price than the artist sets for attendance. The intervention is requested by various artists including Kid Rock in an effort to keep ticket prices available for ordinary fans.
Following the XO announcement, President Trump takes questions from the assembled press pool in the oval office. Most of the questions focus on the upcoming Liberty Day tariffs. WATCH:

Wonder if they are having the dinner with Bill Maher tonight?
I guess $5000 for a Superbowl ticket or a $3500 concert ticket will now be outlawed?
<I guess $5000 for a Superbowl ticket or a $3500 concert ticket will now be outlawed?>
Possibly…That’s the biggest ripoff since velcro 🙂
Instead of throwing away $5,000 for that Superbowl ticket, “just to demonstrate to whoever-cares that you can,” why not give the same money to me while we sit down together to watch the game on television?
I will then send your money to a legitimate – and I can prove it – charity who can actually use it.
This is the way!
Only if it’s from an unauthorized reseller / scalper.
The authorized entertainment hosting venue can charge whatever the market will bear.
I completely agree. But an XO?
Why not? 😉 Wins over the younger crowd. I remember camping out for Skynyrd and Pink Floyd tickets back in the day. Back then when someone tried to break the line they took an azz whoopin’. Now it’s all done online with no repercussions to serve…
(Who knew Floyd members would turn out to be liberal morons…)
The reality is TM won’t lose a dime. Talk about about organized crime.
The point made by Kid Rock was that the musician sets the ticket prices for TM to collect. The issue is Bots scooping up those tickets and reselling at major percentages.
Literally 1000s of seats at a time even in small venues. They buy up all the end seats. I support this because JoeBama said he’d do something about it and he didn’t. I shouldn’t have to pay $200+ for a balcony seat to see the Deftones or Tool.
I have dealt with TM many times. I have been lucky enough to get good seats at face value for high-demand concerts. Lately they have been using something called “dynamic pricing” I think, that automatically raises the price as you are searching.
I have also stood in long lines, lottery style lines, sign in and get a number on your hand lines, buy from someone on the street at face value or a little above – never paid scalper prices.
But I don’t know if something like this needs an EO. It would be nice if I could have the option to have a hardcopy ticket instead of a ticket on my phone. But that too seems like the government mandate would be overreaching.
So many more important issues.
It’s a scam based on band popularity, making them more money. Not the band, but TM.
I USED to be a fan. No more.
Too bad there ain’t (m)any bands worth waiting five minutes in line to buy a ticket for these days. I liked Kid Rocks music when he was a rap music DJ back in the early 90s. He is cool as a person I just don’t get his current musical voyage. And I love old school/ Outlaw Country music.
Have an old restored theater here, go there 3-4 times a year.
Membership allows for great seats, prefer balcony over front row center stage.
Paul Thorn, Ga Satellites, Rickey Scaggs next week, Jimmy Messina, Papa Chubby, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Duane Betts, etc. Tickets run $50-60 range, 90 minutes no break, then come out front to talk to guests.
Really enjoy the evening.
“But an XO?”
PDJT wanted to govern by legislation – not EO during his first term. We see how that went.
He was thwarted by RINO backstabbing traitor Paul Ryan, who would not advance legislation to benefit ordinary citizens that he wanted to sign.
My favorite examples are two Concealed Carry Reciprocity Bills and Second Amendment Guarantee Act (which would have done away with state restrictions on capacity, cosmetic features, etc.)
It is up to us voters to put people in Congress that will advance MAGA and put the pressure on ones that are there now to pass his agenda items.
Now PDJT is cutting off the Congressional gravy train that is messing with both wings of the corrupt uniparty bird.
So how do you suggest he get anything done?
I agree about EO’s but he has a worthless Congress so do you want him to sit and twiddle his thumbs for 4 years?
He is doing all he can, IMO. I do not have any brilliant ideas.
I was amazed at his depth of knowledge about diplomacy, etc. in his first term and using economic leverage instead of military power to succeed with the MAGA agenda.
I trust our VSGPDJT to be able to deliver despite Congress.
Look what he was able to accomplish his first term, as well as his track record this first 70+ days.
How do YOU suggest he get anything done??
Unless Congress gets their butts in gear then all of these EOs can be gotten rid of in 2028. He’s doing all that he can to stop the bleeding.
Johnson and Thune are both feckless politicians and are counting the days, Trump becomes lame.
If the King can break the Deep State, that will probably bring Kongress and the Kourts back to “normal”.
Let’s hope (and pray) so!
Wait until we find out who was profiting off all the ticket-scalping scams and what they were doing with the money. That might shed some light onto whether your doubts were warranted or not.
Unfortunately, this “Retail Resale” is the same phenomena that powers $billions at eBay, Amazon FBA and Walmart 3rd party sales. It’s natural capitalism, juiced by digital efficiencies.
You go to the toy store, and you find the Hot Toy ™ selling at MSRP $10. You buy all of what you find on the shelf (plus retail tax), and flip them on eBay for $30/item, eBay takes 15% in fees, and you net say $10/item. Toy store is happy, they made a sale at the accepted price. Manufacturer is happy, because toy store is going to reorder. Reseller digital platform is happy, they got fees. Profits galore. Other customers are mad, because you beat them to the purchase, created scarcity, and prices always go up in supply scarcity.
The Toy Store loses reputation for allowing resale, but it’s not under their control, other than throwing up a “limit 2” kind of sign. So the buyer comes back in multiple times for multiple sales, less convenient, same result.
Now Events are slightly different, because “supply” is fixed. There are only ever going to be 1,000 tickets to the Band show at Place at Time, no factory can make more. And THAT juices the resale scarcity profit from customer demand… people are “willing to pay” that higher price, and everyone is incentivized to profit.
I once stood in line for 2 hours at Toys-R-US to buy the 1- per- person Cabbage Patch Doll for my 2 yr. old daughter. 🙂
Apparently no one else in the country Gave A D@mn. So, once again, PDJT has to do all of the lifting in this country.
Used to go to lots of concerts but they are super expensive now.
Once again, President Trump looking out for the regular folks!
Curious if this will end up with (more) actions taken against Ticketmaster and the like?
I heard rumors of these vendors scalping their own ticket sales to increase their margins.
That is absolutely true. They’re called Platinum tickets.
Deport Tickemaster
I remember Billy Joel doing 4 consecutive shows in my local area to crush the scalpers. Doesnt work with sporting events but if musicians set a price and bots or scalpers push it up past what they want to charge their fans, keep adding dates.
He also refuses to sell the seats in the first two or three rows because he got tired of seeing “bored rich people” getting all the best seats…sends his crew up to the cheap seats an hour or so before the concert where they invite the people in the nosebleed sections to come down to the best seats in the house.
His ex-wife (Christie Brinkley) was a frikin’ crazy pro-abortion Leftist but I will give him props for caring about the “little guys”! (PS -been going to see him in concert since Piano Man came out when I was 15. Last year, my son got me tickets for my 60th birthday and he was just as good as he ever was, although he himself admits the high notes are WAY harder to hit these days!)
Meanwhile, is Taylor Swift available for comment?
She has not been in the MSM lately….now that the big football games are over.
Swift will move swiftly ..out of country……
Trump does consecutive executive “shows” also to drive down the drive by media’s ability to scalp the news.😉
Didn’t Garth Brooks try that many years ago & it failed.
Big music fan here. Many have tried going back to music sharing with Napster and Lars taking on the format. The drummer from Metallica if anyone is not familiar.
There was a lawsuit a number of years ago where Ticketmaster was giving perks back for an issue I can’t remember. You know the 2 for 1 ticket thing. It was short lived and bull#hit.
Kid Rock is correct absolutely on this one.
Um Is this really the best use of the pen? Or is this just a canary to see if even this gets blocked? And what is up with the Hunter pal pardons?
Hunters former business partner turned into a whistleblower against Hunter . Pardon definitely deserved.
The actual EO is an order to enforce an existing law, the “Better Online Ticket Sales (BOTS) Act”. If the FTC were doing its job by law, would Trump have needed an EO?
One of Scalia’s great calls. Letting Tickmaster gouge Americans for decades.
Sweet.
…- Now DOGE the living sh*t outta Ticketmaster, et al…
…- MAGA: – Make Affordable Gigs Again.
What a man!!!!
This is true! 😉
He certainly seems relaxed and in charge for a President who’s supposedly losing control of his cabinet and supposedly should have his hair on fire over the failing NYT article.
President Trump needs an outfit like Kid Rock’s!
I thought that ticket scalping was already supposed to be illegal.
Who is this fellow Will who so competently explains all these EO’s.
Is he a part of of the White House staff?
Will Scharf
..how many think in the country of ours are illegal and unconstitutional ….and politicians and judges it break daily. HAPPILY…..saaaaaad
How much of the grossly inflated ticket price goes back to the entertainer on the stage?
It would seem to me that if people were willing to spend exorbitant amounts on tickets then if the entertainer can cut out that price gouging than the entertainer can reap some of that money by jacking their prices only slightly and keeping the increases.
The money’s out there. Just a question of who gets to keep it.
All the extra monies go to the scalper unless they have some kickback scheme for some artists. They might actually make more on the scalp than what the artist receives as that price that the artist sets includes all the other percentages for Ticketmaster & other middle men such as the promoter & advertising.
Gives a fk.
Re selling tickets not real important to me , couldn’t careless , as I have a lot of respect for kid rock I never like his music, none of it ,
This is such a genius move. TDS patients will still hate it though they will also be ones to benefit.
After reading the NYT/CIA article I was very worried and vexed for all the obvious reasons. I watched our VSGPDJT’s Oval Office presser and not one word about it and not one question from the press. Please help me understand that. MAGA 🇺🇸
because is all big theatric……I just hope there is secure communications between VSGPDJT & VVP… to avoid “irritations”……..
Go back to box office only tickets.
Problem solved and our president can then focus on important matters.
Like ending forever wars..
Just sell tickets the old school way, buy them in person at the box office. Have venue box offices all over the country, like off track betting, so people not living at the venue can buy them. Start sales 1 month in advance.
15:47 “I want to see him [Putin] make a deal. So that we stop Russian soldiers and Ukrainian soldiers and other people from being killed”
The “other people” part, do you think he’s talking about CIA assets or Civilians here?
MAGA!!
This is fantastic news. I live in a concert filled city and the tickets usually go for $500 to $5000. It is like starving in the middle of a grocery store.
The democrats are the ticket masters that have been screwing the taxpayers for years.
Do you think this is a coincidence when the Sex Pistols announced a North American tour? I don’t.
Come to think of it, I’ve noticed that the media monopoly radio stations will run endless announcements about ‘how you can score last minute Taylor Swift tickets!’ and the like.
I have wondered what that was all about, I thought it was just hype for Swift, but maybe it’s a form of backdoor advertising for the scalping industry.
Nice. I do wish something would be done about the massive copyright infringement that is “generative AI” at least with images. I’ve lost so many commissions to that AI slop. And no, I am not a full time artist.
This is a poorly written EO.
It flat out lies. Paying 70 times FV has no impact on revenue to the artist. Once a ticket has been bought on TM, the artist has earned the revenue.
What happens on secondary platforms doesn’t impact the artist in the least.
It’s supply and demand. If you don’t want pay 70 times over cost, buy earlier on TM and pay FV. If you wait until
All the tix get bought up, you pay more. NO different than buying a plane ticket
It’s not really that simple. Ticketmaster, for example, uses AI/bots to buy thousands of tickets to a particular concert in a matter of seconds. One minute after the tickets are officially for sale, the concert is at least half sold out.
Ticketmaster takes all of those tickets they sucked up and resell them on the secondary market at a huge profit. The fans pay 200% face value, Ticketmaster makes huge profits (not even including all of the ridiculous service fees) and the musicians get none of that money.
Most of the big acts don’t care-they get paid up front and it’s a lot of money, so they’re fine.
Kid Rock is not in that category. It makes him mad that his fans are getting fleeced. He has taken steps before to battle the corruption, but now he has Very Special President Donald J. Trump on his side.
Justice will be served.
By the way, I understand that, in order of importance, this issue doesn’t even make the top 100 on President Trump’s to do list. Of course that’s true.
And no-he’s not going after private individuals selling their own tickets for a profit. He’s going after the Entertainment Tickets Secondary Market Cartels. And I hope he burns them to the ground.
If our President is successful on this issue, millions more young adults will follow him politically away from the UniParty fascists. And that’s a good thing.
Here’s the trick… you just gotta know someone on the crew who can comp the vip/all access. Only concerts I go to! Just sayin’ 🤫😉
