Apparently, this man is not capable of figuring the whole thing out. He actually seems to think that members of the Cabinet were “chatting away,” on a civilian-grade chat venue using ordinary cell-phones. And that they “didn’t know” that a reporter had been added. Somehow.
Of course, “perhaps, one of the many targets of this most unusual ‘operation'” is, in fact, “this (sic) Judge.”
Just like this reporter, and his parent publication, who immediately took for granted that they had “somehow, landed the ultimate ‘scoop,'” this (sic) Judge now appears to believe that there are actually “deep secrets” here. And, that members of the President’s Cabinet actually use “Signal” for … well, anything.
The folks who operate at this highest level of Government can take “secure communications” entirely for granted. This is military-grade stuff, not “civilian.” And, if we may recall, staff is constantly on-hand to preserve security, and to gather a transcript. If these folks want to “chat among themselves,” no one will “overhear.” (Including a reporter.)
These staffers are professionals. They do not make “mistakes.” (And, they do not use the wrong crypto.)
The first goal of this “very strange operation” was to send a press release, verbatim, to The Atlantic. But, maybe the second goal was to “trip” the Lawfare minions . . . (who are “far, far too full of themselves”)
P.S.: Obviously, a major goal of this “operation” was to convince people – who do not think too deeply and who do not otherwise know – that “this was some kind of stupendous mistake.”
Sure: in the civilian world, it’s conceivably possible – but, on the other hand, even there, “not very.”
This “reporter” was deliberately put there, and he was led to believe that he could run away to his employer with “the ultimate story.” And, as we now see, apparently his employer agreed with him. They promptly did exactly what was intended.

Personally, sunny, I believe we should revert to how people were allowed to pursue citizenship prior to the late 19th century. Each state, per the 10th amendment rightfully possesses the legal authority to decide who can and cannot be a U.S. citizen. The most common way was for an existing U.S. citizen to vouch for and put up a bond for one they were willing to vouch-safe for. The incentive was that most people in their right mind would never put up money and reputation as collateral for someone they knew was criminal or a risk hazard, else they would forfeit their bond of money and/or property. I firmly believe we should go back to that system.
