\Little Tink’ is well and was firmly ensconced on my shoulder last night and until I got up this morning. She’s very loyal in this. Since this is relatively new behavior, I think it is connected to her move from feral kitty to a better socialized c-a-t. She’s much happier now. When she’s on my shoulder and remains so until I get up, it is very like she’s looking after me. It’s very touching. Good kitty. 🙂

Little ‘Tink is so like our late kitty, Pinta who was with us for over 20 years. When ‘Pinta was failing, deaf and blind, she liked to curl up on my chest at night. Sometimes she’d have an inadvertent accident. I’d just change my shirt and wash off . . . Having her feel that close in her final days was so well worth the inconvenience of an occasionally incontinent elderly cat.
She passed quietly here at home, knowing how much we loved her. Fortunately, Little ‘Tink’s time will be, one hopes, well into our future . . . But. as well as I can, she’ll be here with me

The United States Institute of Peace (USIP) is yet another example of an unaccountable, so-called independent agency created by Congress, a legislative Frankenstein that has evolved beyond its intended function. The very idea that there exist taxpayer-funded institutions dictating foreign policy outside the control of the elected President is nothing short of absurd. This latest confrontation between the Trump administration and the USIP reveals the deep structural flaws of the modern administrative state. If the President of the United States does not control an agency engaged in global regime-building, then who does? The answer to that question is as unsettling as it is opaque.
The recent confrontation between the Trump administration and USIP brings these constitutional questions into sharp focus. On Friday, three federal employees arrived at USIP headquarters in Washington, DC—a building that, despite USIP’s relatively modest scale, was constructed at a staggering cost of $186 million. Two of these employees were affiliated with the State Department, previously assigned to USAID, and the third was from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), headed by Elon Musk. Their objective was straightforward: assert rightful government oversight over a federally funded institution. However, upon arrival, these federal agents were denied entry by USIP’s private security force. The very presence of a privately contracted security team guarding what is ostensibly a U.S. government facility raised immediate concerns within the State and Defense Departments. Why does a government-funded entity require private armed security to prevent access to government officials? What exactly is being protected?
Following this brazen act of defiance, the Trump administration acted decisively. Later that same day, the White House fired eleven members of the USIP board for failing to comply with an executive order aimed at restoring federal oversight. This left only three remaining board members: Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, and Peter Garvin, President of the National Defense University. These three officials wasted no time, swiftly passing a resolution to remove George R. Moose as President of USIP, replacing him with Kenneth Jackson as acting president.

Have been to Seed to Table many,many times.It’s huge and always packed full.The patrons are mostly very MAGA,kind,considerate and respectful.It’s like a breath of fresh air.The prices are a bit high,but it is well worth it just for the environment alone.I usually eat (ribs or a smash burger),and then shop afterwards.Outside,there is a great kiosk selling all sorts of President Trump paraphernalia (shirts,caps,magnets,etc.).Again,did I say how nice and respectful the people are…It makes the drive back across “the alley” very relaxing until you hit the great “blue wall of Broward” again.
Alfie Oakes (the owner) is a very nice man…very approachable.I’ve talked to him several times there.He’s a very unassuming and unpretentious man.
There has been a campaign to smear him and “take him down” for his unwavering support of President Trump.They seemed to have caused him trouble,but as far as I know,they have not succeeded yet.As I see it,he is a “stand up guy”.
There was a controversy at some Byron Donalds meeting/event in Collier County where his “right hand man” Larry Wilcoxson started pushing and shoving some of the participants,and even Alphie Oakes start shouting about it at the meeting…very unlike him.Byron had to reign Wilcoxson in.I actually saw the cell phone recorded video of it,and have not seen it anywhere else since.
Seed to Table is definitely a great place and most Treepers I think would thoroughly enjoy it.A great visit if you are able.

The parable of the labourers in the vineyard. (1-16)
The direct object of this parable seems to be, to show that though the Jews were first called into the vineyard, at length the gospel should be preached to the Gentiles, and they should be admitted to equal privileges and advantages with the Jews. The parable may also be applied more generally, and shows, 1. That God is debtor to no man. 2. That many who begin last, and promise little in religion, sometimes, by the blessing of God, arrive at a great deal of knowledge, grace, and usefulness. 3. That the recompense of reward will be given to the saints, but not according to the time of their conversion. It describes the state of the visible church, and explains the declaration that the last shall be first, and the first last, in its various references. Till we are hired into the service of God, we are standing all the day idle: a sinful state, though a state of drudgery to Satan, may be called a state of idleness. The market-place is the world, and from that we are called by the gospel. Come, come from this market-place. Work for God will not admit of trifling. A man may go idle to hell, but he that will go to heaven, must be diligent. The Roman penny was sevenpence halfpenny in our money, wages then enough for the day’s support. This does not prove that the reward of our obedience to God is of works, or of debt; when we have done all, we are unprofitable servants; but it signifies that there is a reward set before us, yet let none, upon this presumption, put off repentance till they are old. Some were sent into the vineyard at the eleventh hour; but nobody had hired them before. The Gentiles came in at the eleventh hour; the gospel had not been before preached to them. Those that have had gospel offers made them at the third or sixth hour, and have refused them, will not have to say at the eleventh hour, as these had, No man has hired us. Therefore, not to discourage any, but to awaken all, be it remembered, that now is the accepted time. The riches of Divine grace are loudly murmured at, among proud Pharisees and nominal Christians. There is great proneness in us to think that we have too little, and others too much of the tokens of God’s favour; and that we do too much, and others too little in the work of God. But if God gives grace to others, it is kindness to them, and no injustice to us. Carnal worldlings agree with God for their penny in this world; and choose their portion in this life. Obedient believers agree with God for their penny in the other world, and must remember they have so agreed. Didst not thou agree to take up with heaven as thy portion, thy all; wilt thou seek for happiness in the creature? God punishes none more than they deserve, and recompenses every service done for him; he therefore does no wrong to any, by showing extraordinary grace to some. See here the nature of envy. It is an evil eye, which is displeased at the good of others, and desires their hurt. It is a grief to ourselves, displeasing to God, and hurtful to our neighbours: it is a sin that has neither pleasure, profit, nor honour. Let us forego every proud claim, and seek for salvation as a free gift. Let us never envy or grudge, but rejoice and praise God for his mercy to others as well as to ourselves.

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Extreme cold weather ops training takes a lot more than a trip to a range on the side of a mountain with a little snow.
Every task, no matter how minor takes more forethought, time, and energy. Even taking a pee!
There are things that can only be learned and ingrained when a unit lives and operates in the cold and snow for days at a time.
I imagine everyone I send this to has been out in the cold and had that feeling of isolation one gets when your thoughts turn into yourself and you think about how cold it is and getting warm more than anything else. Well a combat soldier cannot allow that to happen because one loses the situational awareness that that you and your buddies lives depend upon to survive. It takes a lot of conditioning to not allow oneself to do that. It also takes making sure your ears are not so covered up that sound is muffled too much.
And then there is the physical acclimation to the thin air when one is operating at 8,000 ft or higher. It doesn’t happen in a day or two. It takes time. And believe it or not, that acclimation comes quicker if you’ve been up into those altitudes frequently, even if it’s been a month or more since the last time you were.
I have lived @ 7200 for the last 14 years, took me 6 months to be able to bike ride my normal circuit of 10 miles and not be totally out of breath after the first mile if I would go all out.
My buddy that introduced me to CO back in 2001 was born here and as a result has 30% more lung capacity which has kept him off needing oxygen for his “transmission mechanic disease” of constantly inhaling parts cleaner when air drying transmission parts which is called “Pneumonitis” essentially Pneumonia 24/7/365.
When we first vacationed here, he took us up to the top of
<Mt Evans>, had to walk up the trail a couple hundred feet… I about “died” trying to catch my breath while he & his high school buddy walked it easily. We had both just got there from IN altitudes that are less than 700′ essentially sea level.His son stayed in the van with altitude sickness, both his daughters climbed with us & had no problems.
People that I run into if they have altitude sickness…. drink water & more water till you can um…. go to the restroom often.
I spent the entire 00’s coming back, first 3 days are okay to breath, but 3rd day hits you kinda hard for breathing….

Acclimation generally comes much quicker for a young person already in top physical condition but each individual is different. BTW another common condition/physical attribute commonly found in people that live and work at higher altitudes is Cardiomegaly.
