Jesus took Peter, John, and James
and went up the mountain to pray.
While he was praying his face changed in appearance
and his clothing became dazzling white.
And behold, two men were conversing with him, Moses and Elijah,
who appeared in glory and spoke of his exodus
that he was going to accomplish in Jerusalem.
Peter and his companions had been overcome by sleep,
but becoming fully awake,
they saw his glory and the two men standing with him.
As they were about to part from him, Peter said to Jesus,
“Master, it is good that we are here;
let us make three tents,
one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
But he did not know what he was saying.
While he was still speaking,
a cloud came and cast a shadow over them,
and they became frightened when they entered the cloud.
Then from the cloud came a voice that said,
“This is my chosen Son; listen to him.”
After the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone.
They fell silent and did not at that time
tell anyone what they had seen.
Note: I post these scriptures during Lent as an invitation for anyone to reflect a little more during these weeks leading Easter, to think and prepare ourselves to truly deepen our faith, and how we live it out. Yes, I write from my own Catholic identity, but I have tried very hard to make these posts an invitation to anyone who is Christian, or curious. How could posting scripture cause such discord as last week? No one forces you to read and participate here. Please allow others to share as they choose, in peace.

For god so loved the world……….have we ever really thought about the word “So”, in that sentence? God bless you and keep, you, God make his face shine on you and be gracious to you, God turn his face toward you and bring you peace.
Thank you Bonny. This is one of my favorite blessings. So much so that I’ve learned the American Sign Language for it so I can bless those who can not hear. Have a blessed day.
It is an honor to experience another expressing faith. Blessings to you, Menagerie! ✝️💕
And blessings to you Lorrie. All I have to do today is one thing…….Follow Him. Peace to all!
Thank you, Menagerie.
Keep it up…….as you say, NO ONE is being forced to read it.
I’ve been passing your Lenten Series along to several others for the past couple of years.
Thanks for all you do.

When I was a lad I used to say “lentil”
Here is a Protestant who will applaud and cheer on any brother or sister in Christ, be they Catholic, Protestant, Evangelical, or Pentecostal as they seek to follow and imitate Jesus. None of us is without sin so we should be loathe to cast stones. Remember the seventh thing that the Lord hates from Proverbs 6:16-19. He calls it an abomination—“he that sows discord among brothers.”
I hope this isn’t inappropriate, but this year my birthday falls on Easter Sunday. 67 years ago I interrupted my family’s Easter plans….
When I was younger it didn’t mean that much to me, but now that I’m old and closer to the Lord I see it as a gift He gave to me….
Happy Easter, everyone.
I get it. My twin and I “interrupted” Christmas plans 63 yrs ago. I thank God for that now.
🎂🎂
Every day is a gift.
👍💞
May God continue to bless you Liz!
Happy upcoming birthday Lix. I’m a few months older than you.
I love it! Blessings to you!
59 years ago on Easter Sunday, I woke up with the chicken pox….
Thank you for posting this, Menagerie. As someone who was not born Catholic (or even Christian), I observe Lent, and I very much appreciate this verse and chance for self-reflection and prayer.
Despite the yeoman’s work of our great President Trump, these are uncertain times in our country, our communities and our families. Prayer always helps.
You and SD and Ad Rem are a blessing to us all.
👍💕
Contemplation, meditation from The Collects for the Second Sunday of Lent:
“Almighty God, who seest that we have no power of ourselves to help ourselves; keep us both outwardly in our bodies, and inwardly in our souls; that we may be defended from all adversities which may happen to the body, and from all evil thoughts which may assault and hurt the soul; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.”
The keynote for this contemplation is “We shine with reflected Light” along the lines of ‘unless the Lord keep the house the watchman waketh in vain’ when considering the concept ‘we have no power of ourselves to help ourselves’ in the invitation that the Lord be our guide and shepherd.
Thanks for these. Luke is my favorite Gospel.
Mine too!🕊️
Thank you for sharing.
God Bless you!
Prayer for today:
Heavenly Father, may You grant us to comprehend Your holy Word according to Your divine will, that we may learn from it to put all our confidence in You alone, and withdraw it from all other creatures; moreover, that also our old man with all his lusts may be crucified more and more each day, and that we may offer ourselves to You as a living sacrifice, to the glory of Your holy name and to the edification of our neighbor, through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Menagerie, you’re a GEM!
Thank you, Menagerie !
Godspeed …
Thank you for sharing these Scriptures. As a Catholic, it reminds me to contemplate during the Lenten season.
God our Father, may our Lenten observances increase our awareness of your love, so that we may become more effective witnesses of your love in our lives.
From The Magnificat Lenten Companion.
I love it!
Pastor David Guzic, when speaking in his commentary on the transfiguration of Jesus Christ in this passage, said;
“This was not a new miracle, but the temporary pause of an ongoing miracle. The real miracle was that Jesus, most of the time, could keep from displaying His glory.”
What an amazing perspective!
I really love this.
O God, who have commanded us to listen to your beloved Son, be pleased, we pray, to nourish us inwardly by your word, that, with spiritual sight made pure, we may rejoice to behold your glory. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen
Romans 10:8-13 says;
“…….The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”
For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Not only is this passage a beautiful description of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but it is also a beautiful expression of Christian unity within Christ.
There doesn’t seem to be any room for discord.
God bless you Menagerie!
My watchword has always been:
“And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.
But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.”
I came here specifically today to read some prayers and scripture, as I am feeling rather fragile. Thank you Menagerie for posting this. Peace be with you and all posting here. Amen.
Lifting you up in prayer for renewal and strength.
Thank you. Be blessed today.
“So Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you want to go away as well?” Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.””
John 6:67-69 ESV
Oh to have this eternally inscribed in the hearts of all man.
God drew them to know that Jesus is the source of eternal life. They believed and then confessed that he is the Holy One of God. cf Romans 10:9
John Chapter 6, the Bread of Life discourse, is probable my favorite chapter in the Bible.
As a personal observation I find so much nuance and complexity is lost with the “modern” “translations. The KJV and AV are far more rewarding and revealing of our Creators message.
I agree.
Thank you.
God Bless You, Menagerie. Your messages are appreciated so very much.
“How could posting scripture cause such discord as last week? “
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
It’s a beautiful thing you do here, Menagerie, and it’s something that makes this website stand out from the rest.
They never taught this in Sunday school and it is the most powerful excerpt in the entire New testament aside from the resurrection!
I appreciate that you do this, Menagerie.
It’s a true blessing of shared faith.
Over the years here I’ve learned a lot from my Catholic sisters and brothers, and your posts opened that door.
It’s your site, dammit! 🙏 You do with it exactly as you want, and thousands of us out here will support you.
Hello & BLESSINGS Menagerie!!
Skip tech on Sunday…
These Scriptures are Wonderful & Encouraging!
We, MUST follow JESUS, YESHUA our MESSIAH!
That’s the Answer!
There is no other.
BLESSINGS everyone!
Thank you Menagerie. One of the many things I love about this site. That we proclaim love of our Lord and Savior.
