As expected, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has caved on the continuing resolution bill from the House. Schumer called the decision a “Hobsons choice,” supporting the Trump CR vs letting OMB Director Russ Vought control the government in shutdown mode. Schumer doesn’t want to see Elon Musk, DOGE and OMB downsizing government by giving them the power within a ‘shutdown.’
WASHINGTON DC – […] In a speech on the Senate floor on Thursday night announcing he would support the House-passed stopgap, Schumer said he had little choice as the Friday shutdown deadline loomed.
“Musk has already said he wants a shutdown, and public reporting has shown he is already making plans to expedite his destruction of key government programs and services,” said Schumer. “A shutdown would give Donald Trump the keys to the city, the state and the country.”
The White House would not telegraph its shutdown plans, including whether it would unilaterally halt federal programs and furlough workers. Nor would it detail the work DOGE could undertake if most of the federal government were non-operational.
But on Capitol Hill, Republican lawmakers were saying the quiet part out loud: By opposing the GOP’s funding plan in protest of Trump’s dismantling of government, Democrats would, in fact, be helping his cause. (more)
“Resist they much, and they must, about that, they much be committed”…

Doggone it!!! I was hopeful for a shutdown !!
Me too.
I have been praying for it. I even emailed my wacko lesbo Democratic Senator to encourage her to shut the government down. Told her how great that would be for the Democrats!
Schmucky bent the knee. LOL
LOL. MASTER tell me what you need. HA HA
That ba$-t@rd is a traitor in much of the public eye..
They worry about DOGE. Well, only one thing to do:
Swear DOGE personnel in as deputy US Marshals.
I want to buy some DOGE swag.
DOGE needs an official government logo. May I suggest an American eagle grasping a chainsaw in one claw, and an ax in the other.
Well, DOGE (Jed Clampit)
I reckon ya can’t get ‘em to jump off every cliff.
But I sorta had my hopes up on this one..
Thanks Sundaance
Poling said the Dems were going to own the Schumer shutdown.
The serpent has lost his fangs.
It must be immensely difficult to curb govt spending once those that benefit from it have tasted of its sweetness.
I can’t imagine the layers of corruption involved. The love of money is such a sin. How destructive it is.

It is unusual to win either way, but here we are!
‘ It is unusual to win either way, but here we are! ‘
Winning: Chaos, turmoil, and instability while staying on track for huge deficits and accelerating growth of crushing debt:
1) Continue the gargantuan overspending with the CR while DOGE cuts only a few percent of overall budget but inflicts chaos, turmoil, and instability.
OR
2) Briefly pause with a shutdown then continue the gargantuan overspending while DOGE cuts only a few percent of overall budget but inflicts chaos, turmoil, and instability adding to same caused by a brief shutdown.
Trump’s team including DOGE are intelligent. None of this is an accident. Which means their goals are apparently:
Chaos, turmoil, instability, and accelerating sovereign debt.
Hmmm, wonder why?
A brief shutdown would only be a slight wrinkle in their plans, they could turn it to their advantage pursuing their apparent goals:
Chaos, turmoil, instability, and accelerating sovereign debt.
What few seem to realize is that the only way to Make America Great Again is to rebuild the former industrial/scientific strength of the US, and that would take decades under ideal conditions. Translation: It ain’t gonna happen. Which leaves the Controllers only one option: Managed decline. We are caught up in the execution of this Plan.
With respect to the goals of this Plan, we are indeed “winning”.
does a total financial reset fit into your analysis ( world/central banks, Fed, precious metal base, bitcoin, etc)?
“WE” aren’t winning unless Rothschilds are loosing.
Sorry, should have said:
With respect to the goals of this Plan, the Controllers are indeed “winning”.
There are different notions about the path ahead and the end state, but the underlying basics seem self-evident:
The US decline starting about 50 years ago could not be stopped, and when the veiled powers (Controllers) steering the US realized that they started steering the decline to their benefit.
We can guess the end state by the convergence of trends, including the runaway debt: A totalitarian diminished US in a “multi-polar global governance”.
We can guess the satraps of this coming end state: The opaque uber-powerful US agencies and their contractors building and using the surveillance/police state framework targeting the US citizenry.
The Controllers are more difficult to pin down. Lots of theories, the Rothschilds are one theory, oligarchs in general another, but the recent rise of China-led BRICS+ as the US sinks may point to agents of China as the Controllers steering the US down now – likely the same oligarchs but now manipulated by the source of their wealth, the world’s supply chain engine.
The path seems likely to involve the debt and monetary collapse/reset, war, biowarfare democide Part II, or some combination thereof.
The situation with the CR is a symptom of the runaway deficit spending propping the US up and driving the runaway debt. They are damned if they do and and damned if they don’t (curtail the overspending).
Returning to original observation: It all ties to the decline of US industry and everything that goes with that. The propping up with monetary smoke and mirrors is about to end, isn’t it?
PS – DOGE won’t make a dent in the deficit and debt. They will cut only a few percent of overall budget. Sorry, they were created mainly to drive chaos, turmoil, fear, dysfunction, etc. – all part of the Plan.
Oh, ye of little faith..
They have to finish the reconciliation process for September. Also they can do what’s known as recision to cut back on some of the spending in this bill. It takes 51 votes instead of 60. Just sit tight. It’s getting better, it just takes time.
This article explaining the strategy might make you feel better:
https://redstate.com/joesquire/2025/03/13/chuck-schumer-calls-republicans-bastards-but-deep-down-he-knows-he-got-played-on-the-cr-n2186645
The plan seems to be that Russ Vought will package DOGE findings into groups of recissions that the President will present to congress. Recissions require majority vote in house and 51 votes in the senate. This process eliminates the 60 vote filibuster problem.
I don’t think that the dims realize just who they are dealing with. Hobsons choice indeed.
They are using the 2017-2020 playbook.
But Trump has a whole new set of plays. with DOGE the first and most obvious example. Thune and Johnson are not McConnell and McCarthy (although they’re all RINOs).
Last time Trump was playing defense most of the time. This time it’s an effective offense that’s scoring goals, despite some delays from Dem judges.
Although he’s barely drained the Swamp, Trump is still showing the GOP congress that winning is..fun!
Heads I win. Tails you loose.
Gotta love it.
“DIFFICULT TO SEE. ALWAYS IN MOTION IS THE FUTURE.”
Now for the cuts to begin in the reconciliation bill.
The democrats are going to beg the Senate Parliamentarian to save them from the cuts coming soon.
You recognized the strategery here with going to reconciliation. The negative nabobs commenting do not see that MAGA does not have the members/votes in the Senate to invoke cloture regarding a continuing resolution, only a simple majority is needed with reconciliation plus having VP Vance’s tiebreaking vote in the back pocket if needed.
The Repubs need to keep going after FU Schumer. He is weak.
Ya, but as Thomas Massie has said, by doing this CR, President Trump has continued Biden’s legacy policies for the first 9 months of Trump’s presidency. Now we can only hope that Trump’s team will “get tough” when the next spending resolution comes up before year-end and enact all the spending cuts that are being looked over now.
Massie has become a John McCain. He had no problems voting for Biden’s funding bills. CR’s.
Nah, that’d be Dan Crenshaw. But Massie likes to preen about principles when sometimes practical politics needs to be executed. Trump will do what he has to do, and frame it as a win, even if it’s a bit of a sh*t sandwich.
Sauce required. Massie seems truly Amercia First, logical, and plain spoken, & calls out the uniparty/dual allegiances that voted to continue spending. He probably doesn’t want to send BILLIONS to a foreign state and for that, he is going to be primaried.
In the past, a continuing resolution would contain built-in spending increases across the government as scheduled. This one freezes spending, according to the Speaker of the House, meaning it is a victory over business-as-usual.
Still unclear what is going on. Does the CR freeze spending increases on Biden’s legacy agenda as Massie suggests? Does the CR keep total spending at the same level as the prior period, but with the dollars reallocated to Trump’s priorities (which effectively cuts into or cuts out Biden’s priorities)? Better messaging from Team Trump would help generate more support for this CR strategy.
Yeah, because he’s and his economic team aren’t trying to Make America Great Again. They probably forgot and needed a reminder from you.
If someone votes with the dems, I do not care what their reason is, nor their (presumed) “conservative principles.” They are advancing the dem agenda, and that is bad. Very bad.
Six months of getting the foundation of economic revival in the USA is a better way to look at it rather than the whiney “this is winning?” comment. You think that 80 years of plundering the USA get turned around in a few months?
Ungrateful and insulting.
So why the continued massive spending?
– President Trump wants to avoid inching towards a Recession?
– September a better chance to enact major change if trade deals and other items lined up?
– Does Trump want to / can he redirect funds to other efforts, Wall, deportation?

Thanks Pe7rot
Another one that gets the overall strategy. 👍
Of course republican’ts had to “leak” the strategy. Just telegraphing to help their frens.
Correct. See my post below – why?? Just guessing.
I don’t get it. Massie complains that continuing with the CR locks in Biden’s spending. AOC says this allows DOGE to continue to make cuts to spending. Schumer says a shutdown lets DOGE gut the government harder. Now, I’ll generally take Chucky’s assessment over the bar tender, but I’m hearing different narratives about this bill that don’t add up.
Have to pass it to see what’s in it. My first thought was that the House should have passed a better bill, but the recission language may be all that is necessary. Seems like it was written to let congress approve cuts if passed, or let DOGE/OMB do the cuts if it fails.
Schumer’s either not as stupid as he looks, or someone told him. Oh well – he’ll get his soon enough.

“Embraces all the Biden spending”
😂🤣😂….
Tell me you believe Massie bullshit, without telling me you follow Massie’s bullshit.

The least surprising outcome of all time.
People at work were asking me about it and I just laughed. “Do you really think they’re going to ‘shut down’ the government and prove how useless half those people and most of those programs are?!”
“Musk has already said he wants a shutdown, and public reporting has shown he is already making plans to expedite his destruction of key
(SUBSTITUTE THE WORD CORRUPT FOR THE WORD KEY HERE)
government programs and services,” said Schumer. “A shutdown would give Donald Trump the keys to the city, the state and the country.”
Would be funny if a bunch of GOP’s would not vote it in to shut it down. Just enough to blame it on the dems.
To HELL with CR’s. The President and congress need to start doing their job and pass a BUDGET. A real budget as they are supposed to.
This is the path to get there by factoring in the realities on the ground.
WHEN has a Republican President EVAH beaten the Democrats, in the game of shutdown poker?
NEVAH!
And for how long have we WANTED a POTUS to say “Go ahead, make my day! SHUT it down,…we’re for small Govt. anyway…LEAVE it shut down, thats FINE with us!
President Trump, you GLORIOUS BASTARD!
With acknowledgements to George Patton and Erwin Rommel, President Trump had Schumer by the gonads either way he went. And that was just Checkers. (I don’t think Schumer knows how to play Chess.)
Man, can’t get enough of these lose-lose scenarios for the repugnant Dems. Haha
Senate to vote to break filibuster on motion to proceed to interim spending bill sometime after 2 pm et tomorrow. Is third vote in series which starts around 1:15 pm et
Schumer is still using the same decades old playbook about saving Medicaid and the middle class paying for a tax cut for billionaires and how he’s fighting back…blah blah blah.
It would seem to me that when the CR’s time has run out, The lawfare suits against DOGE cuts would still be getting litigated in court. If that is the case, wouldn’t the Republicans have the same Elon Musk leverage to enact what they want in a permanent spending bill?
MAGA! 👊👊🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️
I was so looking forward to the shutdown!! Oh well…
THE DOGE
THE DOGE STRIKES BACK
RETURN OF THE DOGE
I love these movies playing out in real time. It’s making things very interesting.
KMA schitmer…worthless POS, when is the doj going to investigate his threat to scotus and lock his a-s up?
Spoofed old Chuckie into a “yea” vote by threatening to use the shutdown as RIF on steroids.
More of Trump’s 3-dimensional chess prowess.
It sounds like you’re enjoying the political theater I am bigly! Trump does have a knack for stirring the pot and getting under people’s skin—his style thrives on provocation, and he’s been flexing that muscle lately. The Democrats do seem scrambled, with their messaging all over the place, and the louder they get, the more he doubles down. Chaos is his playground, no doubt. Musk’s up there too, trolling with memes and X posts, but Trump’s got that old-school, in-your-face edge.

Cry harder chuck.
Seeing the Evil Hunchback Spider eating crow warms my heart. That F^%$er is a Der Strurmer caricature made flesh. If he got a seaside tourist trap sketch artist to do his portrait he could sue him for antisemitism and win.
“Resist they much, and they must, about that, they much be committed”… Al Sharpton of Tawana Brawley fame!!! The Democrats are resisting, opposing making America great again and that makes no common sense!!!! Resistance for the sake of resistance is a fool’s errand!!!
LOSING!!
Start getting used to PJDT cleaning your clock & eating your lunch Schmuckie. Rest assured that there’s a ton more coming your way too.
Prediction: You will be caving so often on future PJDT’s actions/legislation that you will become known as the “Cave Man”.
Your career & the Democrat Pahty is just about OVUH!!
Trump has ‘six ways from Sunday’ to make Schumer miserable.
Trump put them in a corner. If they approve the CR he wins and if they reject the CR, he wins! Lmao! He’s playing them like a fiddle. They’re amateurs. Good grief Trump is a genius.
Old career politics lib bent the knee,
Move 11 million illegals in, move 1 million illegals out. Spend $1T to destroy Ukraine, spend $1T to rebuild Ukraine. Spend $1T to destroy Gaza, spend $1T to rebuild Gaza. Spend $1T on green new deal corruption, find new boondoggle in next CR to spend $1T on. Life goes on.
Keeping the gov’t open means (to the dems) that they are still siphoning off $$ for their own use. If the gov’t shuts down, the dems do not see their secret stash of dollars, and cannot continue to pay the “shock troops” (see New York city, see “concerned citizens” disrupting R’s meetings, etc).
Too bad, Charlie… you LOST again!!
IMESHO, the DOJ needs to conduct a comprehensive investigation into Charlie’s background, any potential ASSociations with NGOs that could be violating funding regulations, and his long term views for the American Republic and its citizens.
