The Dept of Homeland Security, led by Secretary Kristi Noem, has ended the collective bargaining agreement with the Transportation Safety Administration (TSA).
The TSA has approximately 47,000 employees represented by the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE). The Dept of Homeland Security is ending the union bargaining agreement, paving the way to streamline the TSA and eventually privatize airport screening.
Transportation Safety Officers (TSOs) are not happy with the decision by DHS and leftist politicians are obviously aligning themselves with the union representation. Anyone who has recently experienced TSA conduct in airports will likely attest to the need for accountability which is severely lacking due to union representation.
MSM – The Department of Homeland Security said Friday it is ending the collective bargaining agreement with the union representing thousands of frontline workers with the Transportation Security Administration, a decision the TSA union called an “unprovoked attack.”
In announcing the decision, DHS criticized the union — which represents worker responsible for screening airline passengers — claiming TSA employs more people working full-time on union issues than those “performing screening functions at 86% of our airports.”
[…] “This action will ensure Americans will have more effective and modernized workforces across the nation’s transportation networks,” Homeland Security said in a statement. “TSA is renewing its commitment to providing a quick and secure travel process for Americans.” (read more)
Hopefully this is the beginning of the end for the lifecycle of the TSA.
While the TSA is forbidden from profiling any protected category of personage, yet a two-year-old requires a “pat down”… Sorry, the TSA is totally lost, gone and they have fully embraced stupid.

Getting rid of all of these worthless Gov. jobs is good for 2 reasons. First it reduces the Federal budget and 2nd it gives PDJT the needed future employees when the private sector starts exploding.
Experience in grifting and gender studies are not marketable resume enhancers in the private sector…

The contractor would hire the same people that are TSA employees now…and they are already the lowest paid workers in the federal government. They would have to hire the same people because they are the only TRAINED workforce that knows how to process someone who flies without a passport, trained on the xray equipment (not trivial training), trained on screening luggage (not trivial training), knows how to conduct explosive detection, and on an on. The same faces and the same policies will be there after the contract is let…because they are the 50,000 people that a already trained to do the job. You can get rid of the TSA label but there is no “getting rid” of WHO and What will be done after we contract the service. Flying is a painful chore now so blame is easy.
Maybe, maybe not. When I was a frequent, international flyer, often the airlines were responsible for the security checks. Airlines understand that they are screening customers AND that their customers want to get where they’re going safely, AND that time is money. So they are not wasting time searching unlikely troublemakers. Only in the US and Canada have I ever been diverted for a more invasive search.
Airlines do not screen passengers in the USA. Spend a little time on Youtube looking at some video of the flying public in action.
Airlines USED to be responsible for the screening of their own passengers – and it would be very easy for them to once again institute a “Trusted Traveler” program, which, when coupled with a standard metal detector, would eliminate 99% of the ridiculous “security” slowdowns that have made air travel just a huge hassle rather than the pleasant adventure that it used to be!
You’re young …. they certainly used to
I used to work for a major airline from 1982 to 2009. Before the TSA, our airline was in charge of the screening process at the airport. And it didn’t suck anywhere near as much as it does now.
Authentically trained or DEI high percentage?
Notice how there is NO such screening, for those flying on private planes?
Notice how they confiscate fingernail clippers, but in all liklihood every adult passenger, on a commercial airliner, have a ball point pen, and a plastic credit card on them.
A minute with a honing stone, sandpaper or any abrasive surface, and that credit card becomes a razor sharp implement, better at throat slitting than a box cutter, and a ball point pen, is or can be a deadly weopon, without any modification.
The whole thing was a scam, to “get the public flying again” and obviously DEI hires at air traffic control, and pilots required to get the jab, are far greater threats to “air traffic safety” than some towel head, trying to light his shoes on fire while screaming “Aloha, snackbar!”
Well you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to do the job. Have you seen the TSA workers?
Contractors: Makes sense that a future ‘private’ security workforce would be filled with previous TSA employees. However, the better screeners would be the ones to get the jobs. Excellent time to leave out poor and unprofessional performers.
But one huge difference which every government employee knows — if they are assaulted, it’s a federally enforced felony charge. And there are certain personality types within who make it their mission to try to get assaulted just to see that power exercised. They have every incentive to be arse-wholes.
If I was looking to hire additional employees any resume with TSA on it would automatically go into the circular file.
Most of these people are working for the TSA because they have no marketable skills.
What are they going to do for industry, pat down their coworkers?
We will need a huge expansion of midnight shift Zippy Marts
You know what would “reduce the Federal budget” even more?
Refusing to pay usurious debt originating with the Federal Reserve.
Where’s your opinions on fractional reserve fiat currency and interest-bearing debt?
Private sector wouldn’t want them…that’s why they’re working for the TSA…
I live near the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.
I can spot a TSA trainee from 100 yards. There aren’t any physical requirements. and I’ve seen 400 pounder Weebles that wobble, but won’t fall down.
I don’t like to generalize, and every agency has them, but a TSA seems to have a larger percentage of unprofessional trainees compared to other agencies. DEI rules.
They are at the extreme opposite of a US Marshall trainee in intelligence and physical condition.
A US Marshall will kick your ass if required. A TSA employee wouldn’t be able to do squat to stop a threat unless they were lucky enough to fall on them.
Hahaha 🤣
I was in TSA 20+ years ago.
The early recruits came from all walks of life, of all ages.
We did any training on-site (or nearly so).
No FLETC for us!
As time went on, though, a lot of the earlier ‘screeners’ went to other agencies:
Secret Service
ICE
CBP
I went to CBP, and did go through FLETC (pronounced Fleyt-see)
When I was there, the thunder-thighs brigade were the BOP (Bureau of Prisons) recruits.
Some of them were really big – and not in a good way.
Perhaps the security theater show is going to finally start winding down.
There ARE good people in TSA – but the agency itself needs drastic overhaul.
And a different way of training and performing its mission.
Yikes, think may have flagged this comment while scrolling!
I believe it requires 10 different ppl to flag a comment before the Admins are officially alerted
BOP hasn’t changed. To be fair, they send everyone, including the nurses, psychiatrists, and management for training. Many are large, but most are very professional.
Or be able to complete a handful of squats.
They wouldn’t be able to do squats either.
That is funny 😎
I MIGHT be able to do 1/2 a squat, getting down. Coming back up, no way.
I save my squats and sprints for emergencies ; at this point if I practice I would damage something beyond repair .
Obama hired the hard-core unemployable to make job figures for blacks look good in his administration.
“…a decision the TSA union called an “unprovoked attack.”
Yeah, like grabbing my crotch, MF’er.
My favored thing is when they yell at you like an abusive parent beating on a child because “today” at “this airport”, but not the others, you must put your roller suitcase in a bin but on Monday when you flew out, you got screamed at for putting your roller…IN a bin.
Fire every last effing one of those 9/11 terrorism profiteers.
The TSA should Never have been created. It has to have the most lazy, stupid, DEI, NO COMMON SENSE employees found anywhere.
ABOLISH TSA. I used to fly commercial a great deal. When TSA started harassing passengers and being just plain stupid, I quit flying commercial.
The private sector screeners were worthless. TSA is a thousand times better!
The job is repetitious, stressful, and offers no pathway upwards.
Too
Many people have been hired who have no business interacting with the public.
However, the bell curve sure exhibits itself at a TSA checkpoint.
Like the time a pax (passenger) put their pet carrier (with pet inside!!) through the x-ray machine.
Or another tried to do the same with a baby in a baby carrier/seat.
Never saw that (fortunately).
The kittycat was ok though. 🐈
Had one fella with a pistol in his carry on.
Couldn’t quite grasp the idea that him having a gun on the plane wasn’t a good idea.
The Port Authority (NY/NJ) cops took him away.
<The job is repetitious>
The job is repetitious.
It’s not gay if it’s TSA.
Actually, sometimes it is.
THIS^^^ spot on!! My mom was literally on her death bed and I was flying to see her (hopefully) before she passed…I was a hot mess, sniveling, trying to keep it together. One of these DEI BITCHES starts screaming at me about my pocket, my zipped pocket what was in there!!! I had no idea, I had emptied all my pockets…she literally is screaming at me like I am a terrorist and orders me to open my zipped pocket…sure enough I had some used Kleenex (from CRYING you Mfer!) and she YELLED at me “YOU LIED YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO EMPTY YOUR POCKETS”. I seriously was speechless…and you can’t give them shit back or else they have the POWER to not let you go through. This was the last time I ever flew. I will never ever board a plane ever again.
Flew around the globe for 35 years. As for US TSA, I’d say 2 in 10 TSA agents were alert and projected professionalism.
Looking back, yeah, I’d say the whole thing is a ruse.
They love to piss people off in order to show how powerful they are when you just ask a question.
Thats a common thread that runs through every single liberal, especially if you’re a SDNY judge.
They profile us.
ATL airport TSA sucks.
There is no excuse for forcing people to inch forward in endless lines with only 2 scanning portals open.
All the while some TSA clown parades up and down the lines hollering “All smiles, no frowns!”
There are only two portals open because the other 10 screeners are “working from home”. You see this throughout the government. Ten service windows, portals, etc. only two open, and the person at one of them is busy texting someone. Thank GOD for President DJT.
Shawnté is usually busy yelling for everyone not pre-screened to remove their belts and shoes. You better have the poise and posture she likes or you aren’t going anywhere. These nobodies are deputized to be the travel lords of us all.
I so hate airports now I’ve rediscovered driving.
Always note also that it was Michael Chertoff from the GW Bush administration who became a gazillionaire through selling those scanners, which he as an admin insider helped mandate.
They even demonstrated, on one of the alphabet networks, that the scanners do not work.
This was back before they went to all lies all the time.
Yet we went ahead with them anyway.
I have noticed that all you have to do is refer to something as a rollout, and people become sheeplike and just accept it.
I was mad as a hornet when an unelected bureaucrat was running the Biden administration. While traveling I had to show my ID, remove my shoes put my bag in a bin, keys, wallet, etc. Illegal immigrants had no such requirements This was unethical, and a middle finger to American citizens.
My experience with the TSA is mixed. Some were normal friendly individuals, others took delight in harassing passengers including wanding or sending people to the full body scan machine. Reform will be an improvement.
Forget it, Jake … it’s Atlanta
After a very invasive “pat down”, I decided to never fly again. (and they didn’t even let me have a cigarette afterwards! 😉
Or buy you a drink huh. 🙄
🤣 🤣 🤣
🤣 🤣 🤣
Remember when this happened? How was she able to get passed in her condition while other non-compromised passengers had to endure gate-rape?
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/woman-strips-naked-walks-screaming-aisle-southwest-flight-phoenix-rcna195186
She was taken to a psyche ward but otherwise uncharged. Protected class?
TSA should be eliminated.
As collateral damage to repealing the Patriot Act.
Wrong! We don’t need assholes with knives and guns on commercial flights. TSA is funded by a surcharge on the flight price.
Are you one of the Thousands Standing Around, Joey?
Jobs program for DEI POC and otherwise unemployable undesirables.
Unfortunately it now appears that way.
A lot of it is security theater.
When I was a good deal younger, it was always a source of disappointment for me that I was never on a plane that got hijacked to Cuba. That would have been a good story to tell the grandchildren. Ah, but back in those innocent days of yesteryear, the word “terrorist” had yet to enter our vocabulary. The moral to the story: if we had a better grip on who is entering this country, we wouldn’t need to be quite so paranoid out at the airport.
Your sense of paranoia would not be improved if you saw the barrel full of weapons that the TSA officers collect over the course of a week. In fact, you would give them a “thank you” the next time you went through the line if you did. I certainly do.
The TSA union boss posting on CTH.
I don’t pretend and call it like it is. As I told you before. I’m an Army pilot with over 3000 flight hours (both helicopter and fixed-wing).
“Barrel full of weapons”. As if anyoe trying to sneak a weapon onto a plane doesn’t get the police called on them.
Yeah, they took my swiss army knife 🙄 like I was going to use it. Just forgot it was in my purse. 👎
They took my awesome key chain Leatherman. 😡
I might fly again if they abolish the tsa.
This was a paid political advertisement from the good folks at the American Federation of Government Employees.
We’re looking out for you!
Yeah, a barrelful of nail clippers like the ones I’ve lost. Did you know those are sold later on eBay? I’ve bought them to restock my own lost there.
I remember when a couple had their gold and diamond cigarette lighter CASE get confiscated along with the disposable lighter. They had to catch their flight and did not have time to wait for a supervisor to come over.
“Thanks, TSA, for being brave enough to publicly steal and get away with it.”
A Thank You? hahahahahahaha!
Oh, you were serious. 🫢
That didn’t happen.
Alert
I reiterate my point about credit type plastic cards people carry in their wallet or purses (the ‘preffered customer’ cards from grocery stores are a little thin, but will work) that a few minutes with a wetstone, can make a slicer much better than a box cutter, and a goid ball point pen which, unaltered can kill “6 ways from sunday”.
And most likely every adult on board has at least one of each.
The whole TSA was a con job, that turned into a boon doggle.
Its like gated communities; the gate gives people the ILLUSION of security.
Most of the mouth-breathing, nose-picking, semi-literate TSA mooks I’ve seen I wouldn’t hire to flip burgers. Where do they get this people?
Once one gets hired they bring in their family and frinz. How did my local post offices become 95% Korean staffed?
The TSA workers (all of them) are the lowest paid people in the entire federal government. Look it up. Also, air travel is just painful now by any measure so somebody somewhere will whine no matter what policies are implemented. For instance, you can bet that some contraband (knife, explosive, etc.) was found in a babies diaper somewhere that prompted a search order. They don’t make these search policies up (think shoe bomber). However, you might want to recall that mercifully NO aircraft has been blown up by a terrorist (not one) since the TSA was federalized after 911. I count this a miracle…especially in these times. Don’t you? I would not bet one thin dime that service, safety, or cost will be “improved” if they go private contract. In fact, I would most definitely take the other side of that bet.
You are among the rare I’ve seen that actually find them useful. Studies have come out showing they don’t actually stop anything. And European airports don’t require passengers to take their shoes off. They do it to humiliate us.
Be honest. Just look at a crowd of the flying public. Do you actually think that there is ANY way possible that a private contractor will be able to make people safer and happier when they are going to an airport now? Do you think that they won’t be required to do a personal body search on a select circumstance? That they will just somehow waive you through after an xray of your carryon? Just about all of these writeups here are written as a gripe against just what needs to be done to passengers to keep us safe when we get on the bus. A private contract solves nothing…not cost, safety, or convenience.
Do you honestly think people haven’t been regularly flying with amazing statistical success since the 50s?
This TSA bull is nothing but humiliation ritual created by obama’s army of glazed eyed followers. They do, simply because they can.. and get paid with excellent bennies.
Giving security back to the airlines will immediately weed out the airlines who demonstrate they do not care about passenger satisfaction. The good ones will be safe and profitable.
We don’t need youtube to demonstrate that either, sparky.
re: “Do you actually think that there is ANY way possible that a private contractor will be able to make people safer and happier when they are going to an airport now?”
I think Israel does it. ANd they do it in a different way. Check into that.
Israel has a totally different class of flyers. Israel does not allow legal or illegal immigrants from the third world especially Africans.
A PROUD TSA UNION BOSS TROLLING US. I have never heard one person praise A single stupid TSA goon.
I’m an Army pilot with over 3000 flight hours (both helicopter and fixed-wing).
TSA wanted to unfold my Dad’s American flag that had been on his casket. Several veterans behind me stepped forward.
I haven’t flown since.
Ghouls.
You are embarrassing yourself.
Hull breach from energetic materials is about the only screenable risk with a potential for efficacy.
That is handled with chemical sniffers, and those can be deployed without disruption to the traveling public. So, TSA has no reason to be an overt and public presence.
Didn’t you mean “nuisance”?
No there was never ever a knife in a baby’s diaper.
I don’t fly regularly but have flown multiple times in the last decade . My biggest issue is with the airlines and the cramped conditions one must endure to fly . I have never had an issue with TSA , probably because I was raised by a career Marine . I know when to follow instructions.
My complaint is TSA procedure is different at every airport. Laptops in or laptops out. Carry-on bags in bins or out. Shoes in their own bin or mixed in with other stuff. At least now things are more consistent with just showing ticket once. I always decline the photo. They pretty much don’t question that where I’ve gone though one guy wanted to school me on how to present my passport when declining the photo. The trend now seems to be one consolidate entry point (unless you pay for the special handling). Makes for a lot of walking in some airports. Worst experience for me has been Vegas.
Once had the SSSSS on my boarding pass. Not sure what I did to get that (I do always buy one way ticket close to flight date, so that might contribute).
“The TSA workers (all of them) are the lowest paid people in the entire federal government. Look it up.”
OK I did. The TSOs are in what TSA calls pay band D-E, equivalent to GS-5 to GS-7 plus locality pay. Not the lowest. My experience is that a fed clerk/typist is at GS-3/GS-4 and could get promoted to GS-7 as an Admin Asst.
You make my teeth hurt. The average starting salary for the guy/gal agent processing lines of passengers is $30K per year. The Executive Director for the entire 50,000 workforce is $180,798. I’m sure a contractor can improve the quality of the workforce by magic when they hire them at $28K to squeeze out a profit.
My last flight anywhere was in 2010 from Pittsburgh to Miami. I made sure to pack light. I am fit, am handsome, carry myself well and dressed as someone who could be reasonably be perceived as military or government-type on their day off and had my hair cut in a somewhat military style. I breezed on through with no hassle. I knew what I was up against and was determined to make my trip as painless as possible since I already had a financial obligation to meet in Miami . I promised myself I would never do it again, and I haven’t. All business is done via other methods for me since then. I will never fly again. Not commercially, anyway.
Didn’t used to have to be screened at Air Mobility Command airlines pax terminals, but that changed. Not a big deal though. Did have a flight where I paxed to Jackson MS on a C-17 based there. Only a couple pax and they just strapped our “checked” baggage with the crew baggage on the floor in front of us in the back.
Freaks and pedophiles get to have a quick feel-up! Abolish it!
.
Someone who knows please answer:
What substantially diminished the once fairly frequent plane hijackings?
.
The terrorists, aka, the Israelis, moved-on to a different modus operandi. Their opponents, whomever we were told they were, simply followed suit. Their CIA-subsidized and monitored warfare was taken to a different, more profitable level for all parties involved.
WTH: Woman Loses it, Strips Naked During Episode on Southwest Flight
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2025/03/wth-woman-loses-it-strips-naked-during-episode/
That whole thing was a scam – to keep the public afraid and to transfer blame from our domestic leaders to foreign hijackers.
Hmm,…good question.
D.B. Cooper did it with a note, IIRC.
So, all the TSA in the WORLD, wouldn’t have stopped him?
.
True.
Looks like no one has the answer to my question, though. 🙁
.
99% DEI hires, no brains all dumba–es
My temper cannot handle tsa. I have many kids, in one small airport in a rural area, the single daily flight of 20 passengers, they hand searched every stow away bag. Rifled through my underwear held up my things for all to see and took their time. In my backpack the crushed the unopened package of Goldfish to make sure I wasn’t hiding anything in the package. They swiped my stroller for bomb reside.
They further questioned me when I expressed irrition at their invasion.
At the bigger airports they say they need to wand me if I dont let my child walk through the scanner alone.
They have touched my things they have touched me. They have separated me from my Children to wand them. They make me take off my shoes. They open my bags when I bring pack lavender, once they even confiscated it and left a tsa note in my bag with no recourse for me.
I do not consent. I don’t fly. And it doesn’t feel like I won.
Last year my 14yo son had to travel a direct flight to my parents.
I had to pay an extra $300 for an unaccompanied minor. They said the program included a tracking wrist band and a busy bag/swag bag and an escort from the plane. None of which I wanted.
Unfortunately the system where we input the authorized person who was going to pick him up didn’t work well.
So what we got was no tracking band. No swag bag and my son was held hostage at landing because the system had no authorized pick up. It took over an hour of frantic phone calls to sort things out.
My husband said at the airport he had to get a biometric/face.acan to take our son to the gate. I would not have consented.
Burn it down and start something new.
Ah, the good old days before the 90’s. When a 3 yr can wait on the bench at NY Grand Central for a while, or a 6 yr old can ride the public bus alone, or a 12 yr old can fly transatlantic unaccompanied, and there isn’t any anxiety.
Ah, the good old days before the 2000’s. When a 3 yr can wait on the bench at NY Grand Central for a while, or a 6 yr old can ride the public bus alone, or a 12 yr old can fly transatlantic unaccompanied, and there isn’t any anxiety.
Or just burn it down.
Let the airlines hire a few competent security people to keep an eye on things.
The rubric “under the abundance of caution” can be stretched into any absurdity these nutjobs want to execute. They did it with C19 and will assault us with more if not stopped.
Look what airline personnel did with masks. They would question parents of babies, just salivating at the thought that maybe they had reached the magic age of two so they could order them to be smothered with a rag over their tiny airways.
That remind me, we have one of those retarded and evil baby-maskers as a Surgeon General nominee.
We could save a half-million dollars by just not filling that position, if that the kind of human waste we are intending to fill it with.
I’m not sure the TSA has ever fulfilled it’s mission. For some reason, power hungry people are attracted to the position and they throw their weight around excessively making air travel miserable. I would travel more IF two things were fixed: 1. TSA insanity, 2. Customer Service restored to the traveler by the airlines.
No, make that 3 things: Get rid of the subpar technical people in the aviation industry that has made air travel much less safe than it ever was.
As someone who is well-acquainted with a former ticket agent at one of the 3 major airlines, I will testify that the flying public are among the most foul-mouthed, rude, and angry people on planet earth.
Human kindness. Whatever happened to that?
My sister flies much more frequently than I ever have, and she noticed that 9/11 and the installation of the TSA were an excuse for the airline employees to become extremely rude as well.
TSA hires the dregs who would never ever hold any position of power otherwise.
Remember that Rush called them “minimum-wage fascists.” He was too kind in his description.
I know someone who owns rental property. She told me that she would under no circumstances EVER rent to someone who worked for TSA. They ticked her off years ago. She has NEVER forgotten it and I suspect she never will. I don’t know if TSA personnel realize how many people absolutely hate and despise them, but from my experience there are a LOT who feel that way!
TSA is why I no longer use airlines to travel! They can take the feels and shove it where the sun don’t shine, sideways!
That’s what the TSA is doing now.
“Remember last year an internal investigation showed TSA Red Team members were able to get past security with hidden weapons and explosives on 67 out of 70 occasions, a terrible ratio by anyone’s standards.”
Older article but doubt much as changed.
https://thefederalist.com/2017/01/09/tsa-cant-keep-us-safe-letting-harass-us/
Good news, but I’m not convinced privatization will make them more accountable, Etc. I don’t get the impression that privatization of prisons has worked out too well.
I don’t get it either, have been thinking the same exact thing that you stated. No matter who runs the TSA, it would still require for them to do pat downs, feel ups, scans, photos and whatever else they are directed to do to us.
Good! Maybe they can stop the pat down because I wear a sports bra….never have gotten a reason why.
I refuse to fly anywhere.
I would rather we ditch TSA and replace it with what Israel does. A simple interview and only a rare luggage check. Seems to work well for them.
And on the subject of guns on planes, I would love it if there were a certification similar to a 235 card to carry a pistol on board a flight. Just imagine how Flight 93 would have gone had even one passenger had a pistol! Not to mention the other three.
Burn it all down and start over.
Flying a couple of weeks or so after 9/11, anyone who walked the aisles got eyeball-tracked by a dozen passengers. There were grannies who were primed to jump over the nearest set to get any passeneger who so much as stumbled in the aisle. Yes, everyone was on alert.
Moral of the story: when people care, TSA is irrelevant.
I hear that Israel profiles which is very effective.
There’s an old joke. The odds against getting on a plane with a bomb is one in 10 million. A plane with 2 bombs 1in a billion. Therefore you shoul carry your own bomb on the plane reducing the odds.
That was good, Tex. You made me laugh.
Only problem I have with guns on planes, is the pressurised cabin above 10,000 feet…really want to be careful firing a gun in a pressurised cabin…unless hollywierd exaggerates, lol.
Total exaggeration by Hollywood fakers.
A firearm will NOT cause explosive decompression.
A grenade launcher? Well, that’s another matter.
It may not cause “explosive” decompression but it almost always will cause rapid decompression. (Retired Fight Engineer)
Remember how fatty Goldfinger got sucked out through that small window? Hollywood’s exaggeration: all his clothing, particularly his pants not peeling off his carcass. Plus, his fat ass peeling off at high speed didn’t leave bloody mess evident. But you’re right, Dutch. Doesn’t matter where on the plane the gun is fired.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I think years ago the security at the airports were privately owned and ran by the airlines.
TSA is a subsidy to the airline. They externalized their security cost and liability to the publics expense.
The real security threats are airline employees.
My last two or three trips flying, I was hand-patted down, made to walk back through the scanner twice, made to go back and get my pic taken again. I will say one of my flights, I, along with a bunch of other non-threatening-looking people 🤣, were waved through with no body scan and told to leave our shoes on.
I am a middle-aged woman of no threat to anyone. I smile frequently. If someone speaks to me in line, I’m courteous and engaging.
On the hand-pat down, the TSA employee offered to do it in a private room. Ah, hell no! I told her, “just do it here in front of God and everyone because I’m about to miss my flight.” 🤣
Some “musings” from the perspective of an ol’ retired B-747 airline pilot here …
I was “lucky” in the sense that I got “back to the world” the night before 911 after flying a 13 day Orient trip. As such, I did not experience the down-line disruption(s) and displacements of many of my airline compadres … which pales in comparison to the sad, unnecessary demise of those 4 crews and passengers of the 911 planes and all those lives lost in the wars that followed …
I was active and involved in the “battle” to arm cockpit crews for the FAM program (air marshals) … and FWIW, no matter what “they” said or say, the pilots’ union did NOT WANT PILOTS BEING ARMED (!?!?!?) … but if you knew the people and players “at the top”, you’d understand …
Ironically, while we got the airline pilot part of the program through Congress, in the end I could not fly “armed” (even tho’ I was a nationally certiied firearms instructor in civie-street and same-o, same-o prior to that during some of my time in the military) — not allowed ’cause I flew internationally — treaties and local exclusions and such.
But no terrorists meaning to do us harm are present “internationally” … right ?? RIGHT ???
As chance would have it, I was on the 1st flight from the US West Coast to HNL when flying resumed 2 weeks later, and on the 1st flight HNL-Tokyo the next day …
TSA was in it’s infancy and still stumbling and there mostly “for show”, IMO … but that’s the way it went … and they were completely useless and many (most??) of the personnel were … let’s just say they were “challenged” in mind, body, and performance of their intended job …
As the years went by, I was hassled on “more than one occasion” prior to boarding MY FLIGHT … and IN UNIFORM … and for no good reason.
Example:
TSA screener: “Please remove your shoes … ”
B-747 Captain (yours truly in full, proper uniform): “My shoes?? Remove them?? NO … I don’t think so … and BTW, I’m flying the plane … ”
TSA: “Then you cannot go through screening … ”
Bb-747 Captain: “FINE … here’s my cell phone all dialed up for Crew Schedules … YOU tell them why I won’t be able to fly this airplane with 385 passengers and 16 crew across the Pacific … ”
Airline Security Manager steps over: “You may go, Captain … have a good flight … ”
And so the flight left the gate and safely went on to Tokyo … shoes and all.
Morale of the story — many, many times over: IMO, the TSA is virtually useless. Sorry ’bout that, taxpayers … and keep your head on a swivel.
My favorite commercial flights are when I hear the pilot say “retired military pilot.” 🥰🥰🥰
Me too … (smiles)
Unions for civil service workers is a big problem for taxpayers.
Fantastic News!!!
MAGA 👊👊🇺🇸🇺🇸❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻
Your photo montage is incomplete.
Need to add the photos of the 24-month old getting a full body frisk–without her lamb doll! Not until the inspection is complete!!
Also, need the photos of the 90-yr old on oxygen in wheel chair that has to be hauled out of the seat for a full body/chair frisk.
The days of the bold have long gone. Only a frail, scared populace rates this kind of abuse–er, safety.
I thought all this screening (groping) was supposed to be passe with the requirement of “Real Id”.
I generally assume that whenever a government representative says something, it is either a lie, or exactly the opposite is actually the truth.
We shouldn’t even have Real ID “required” in America.
Oh, but “safety” trumps freedom.
Somebody took your picture, so that means you won’t attack somebody?
Meanwhile, our overlords are themselves exempt from that which they force on us.
Help me out here Clarion,
How does that saying go…………..
Something like “He who trades his freedom for safety, deserves neither. Not an exact quote of Benjamin Franklin, but close enough for the purpose here.
You are absolutely correct, Real ID should not be requirement for any reason.
The reality is, Real ID is part of the build out of the total surveillance state.
Thanks for the reminder I need to get my “Real ID”. 🤬🤬🤬
Just had to renew my licence, and again opted out of “real I.D.” so I guess I have the what,…? not so real I.D., issued by the State?
But then, I don’t fly,…never have and see no reason to, now.
These morons are enemies of the State – GETTEMOUTTAHERE
The scanners don’t work, no “they” haven’t started using ‘non-traditional’ terrorists (the excuse for groping elderly white women).
The boot on our neck has changed, it’s now a cowboy boot, but it’s still an authoritarian overlord interfering with our God-given rights and constitutional freedoms.
End the unConstitutional and unnecessary TSA NOW!
Who the HELL do these people think they are?
This makes me sooooo HAPPY. I am old enough to remember when we didn’t have this “security theater” and jobs work program. I know a couple of people , yes anecdotal, who cou.dn’t pass a basic exam a decade ago .. but they were kept on the staff because of the UNION …
This is wonderful and as said before – There are MORE TSA security threats WORKING for TSA than EVER caught by TSA
All part of the “terror” profit center; keeping fear in the forefront.
Same as a fast food “manager” refusing to serve a child’s plate to a 2-year-old because they are not wearing shoes where “no shoes no shirt no service” is posted.
Off the mainland until tomorrow. Pretty excited to see the cf caused by the time change…fall down, spring up, whatever! As long as take offs and landings are successful, all is good. Agents in DAL were excellent.
Oh, I’m sure this will result in less surveillance of Americans legally traveling within our own Republic.
Let me guess, Musk already has a special Penetrating Ray Machine patented to zap everyone.
Look, I’m all over analyzing Fed jobs, etc., and cutting the flab. But I see a lot of the headlines/stories as smoke and mirrors. In this case the whole thing is firmly based on the totally bogus story of “19 Muslim extremists with box cutters.” ERMAGERD, SAFETY!!!
They are maneuvering /herding people with fear, anger, and frustration. Toward what? Away from what? WHO CARES! They’re showing little old white ladies getting groped! GET ANGRY, CATTLE!
I recommend people not bite at that bait. And I’m sickened by the amount of comments I see everywhere now that are clearly coming out of the privatized intelligence matrix that has oozed up around Trump. Most of the comments sound like AI.
By the way,. when are we going to see announced an audit of the Federal Reserve and the creation of a national currency, like Greenbacks, liberated from the Central Banks and their usury?
One of Bush’s disasters, the TSA. Shut it down, disband it and let the airports do their own security.
Maybe they’ll hire people that are serious about their jobs and not interested in fondling my wife and stealing her stuff like last time.
Make them show proof that their service is actually needed. How many terrorists have they actually prevented from boarding planes??
The only authority any government employee has is that which has been granted by the People. We the People never granted them authority to molest innocent citizens in airports or anywhere else.
In Minneapolis I literally saw a Muslim woman in a hijab searching an Amish woman. This whole TSA security crap is beyond stupid.
Oh, you shoulda took a picture,…that would make a great meme!
Mind you, those sneaky Amish, she may have been smuggling unpasteurised milk, to get the Pilot and Co-pilot to drink, to cause the plane to crash, as a terrorist act, in retaliation for the FDA harrasment,…a JOKE, folks…
LOL, Dutchman, you always tickle my funny bone when I need it the most!
More of the same..biden hired all the govt employees as all the other jobs were going to illegals and foreigners. Mostly DEI hires. Today SWA layed off 1750 Dallas based employees but mysteriously needed 38 H1B visa imports. At the same time. No f’ing way. Time for DOL to investigate and stop. Both sides of the fence folks.
Anyone who saw the movie “The Battle of Algiers” about the French Foreign Legion in Morocco during the war for independence knows that terrorists will plant weapons, guns and bombs on children, women and the elderly to avoid detection from politically correct police and military.
It wasn’t Morocco; it was Algeria. And yes, the FLN terrorists took great delight in murdering innocent people. The FLN also tested recruits by having them shoot at French police officers. They knew the French would never allow one of their undercover operatives to actually kill an innocent French policeman just to establish his bona fides.
I am changing my opinion of Kristi Noem.
I am starting to really like her. She is decisive.
I like her and have done so for a long time. She’s a smart, tough, practical country woman who isn’t afraid to make hard decisions. President Trump did well to put her in his Cabinet.
TSA is worthless. It only provides the illusion of security. Total Stupidity America.
I simply will not fly. Ever.
It’s worth a bitter smirk when progressive activists scream “corporate greed” about a company with two or three thousand employees refusing to unionize. TSA = 47,000 semi-literate lardbutts who get off on fondling defenceless people. Government employee labor unions are THE BIGGEST money laundering scam of all the communist money-laundering ploys.
I think some employment unions offer a proper balance between employees and employers. I think I would be interested to see a US citizen employee union. Might be interesting.
But government employee unions are unconstitutional. Government in the US ultimately under the US Constitution, grants power to elected people. All employees of the government are required to be subordinate to those elected by the people.
A government workers union, regardless of their stated interests, goals and bylaws, upset and challenge the constitutional authority of the elected government.
The courts need to rule on this as they have in the past. Government employee unions and any such agreements between government and employees, are unconditional.
This move against AFGE gets a H3LL YEAH! from me!
I stopped flying many years ago when we were herded, like cattle, to the screening checkpoint at the Atlanta Airport.
I will never forget it. We were being yelled at “Get in the line, straight line, face forward, blah, blah, blah.” I turned to my husband: “Now I know how the Jews felt when the Nazis were herding them onto the cattle cars.” He just nodded and whispered “Be quiet”.
The woman in front of us, turned around and nodded in agreement with : “I know, right, disgusting.”
When we got home, I said “That’s it…not going through that tortuous trip(s) again.”
I kept my word.
My husband, continued to travel globally to teach until 2022-2023, when he said he had another offer to teach a class. I said no; 78 yrs. old was too old to put up with disgraceful behavior and he could finally “retire”.
Surprisingly, he didn’t argue and turned down the class assignment.
Even our 50 something daughter refuses to fly after a horrible trip from Georgia to Hawaii, several years ago.
It’s time to cut this branch of the dying tree.
In the past 40 years.. all put one plane terrorist attack was not performed by a muslim. ALL OF THEM but one.
And the other one ? a Sihk.
Do you guy notice a pattern, TSA seems to be clueless.
Imad Mughniyeh, Talwinder Singh Parmar, Inderjit Singh Reyat, Mohammad Ali Rezaq, Zaid Hassan Abd Latif Safar, Khalid al-Jawary, Kim Hyon-hui, Abdelbaset al-Megrahi, Lamin Khalifah Fhimah, Abdallah Senussi, Jamal Zougam, Ramzi Yousef, Abdul Basit Mahmood Abdul Karim, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Mohammed Atta, Marwan al-Shehhi, Hani Hanjour, Ziad Jarrah, Nawaf al-Hazmi, Khalid al-Mihdhar, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab.
No Norwegians. No Amish. I noticed that right away.
Come on, profiling not allowed. The real screening is done in background checks, political/social profiles and other snooping. All else is theater and public training. Currently there are lots and lots of people who still support all of this.
Such as California Joe.
Your list has two Sikhs and a Korean. Everyone else is almost certainly muzzie.
