Although I’m not a fan of her look or vain people in general, I don’t think this is always a net negative for politicians or someone else tasked with heading an organization.
Vanity in politicians isn’t necessarily a bad thing. As much as she cares about her looks, she’s definitely going to care about public opinion, how people view the job she’s doing, the legacy she’ll have upon leaving her appointed position.
The most vain people are way more affected by those things than most. This typically makes them more inclined to if not cater to their base, at least make a concerted effort to appease them.
Trump is extraordinarily vain, highly susceptible to flattery, highly defensive/sensitive to criticism etc and I think it helps keep him on the right track. He feeds off of the standing ovations he receives, the massive crowds at his rallies and he knows that’s because he delivers for the people.
trump has been at this for years though. He’s trained, he ran a reality show for 20 years lol. Noem is trying to pull off the soccer mom vibe to be on the rich girls club at the PTA or sumthing. I have not figured it out. She used to be a very pretty woman and did not need this awful redoing of her face. Except to say I think it’s important for mothers and more especially fathers of little girls to tell them often how beautiful they are. That they are loved for themselves alone, just as God made them. If parents followed through on this, we might not be seeing women so dissatisfied with themselves that they believe it’s necessary to alter themselves.

What Jesus saying that we are to be perfect just as God is perfect is not just in regard to the way we love people. We try, with efforts, no doubt to be perfect as laid out by Jesus; we are to be perfect as God is perfect, as complete as God is complete.
From a belief that somehow, in ways we could never foresee, God would be glorified no matter the outcome.
Jesus summed up His purpose when he was talking to Pilate:
For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. John 18:37
To bear witness to the truth…
What was the truth Jesus came to bear witness to?
Is there doubt that was the great truth he proclaimed from the very beginning of and throughout his ministry, that the “the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matthew 4:17
The truth Jesus bore witness to was the fact that the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
The glimpse we get of ourselves spiritually when we bear witness to the image and likeness of God, complete and whole. What is true about us in the kingdom of heaven is true right at any moment and at every moment. We do glimpse our spiritual perfection; even “now, though dimly we see”
We don’t yet see things clearly. We’re squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us!

Jesus, knowing his death on a cross was coming, Jesus asked God to remove this cup from me…take it away, and God did not grant that prayer.
Jesus was made perfect and fully complete by his suffering. This is yet again a model for us as humans, following Jesus today, that it is the trials, challenges, and struggles we face that produce our perfection. We are on a journey with Jesus that is refining, developing, and producing a better version of ourselves becoming more like Jesus because of the trials and suffering.
Jesus giving us The Holy Spirit to witness to the life of Christ in us is God’s work in us that shapes this spiritual perfection of heaven in us. Every time we we pray the Lord’s Prayer for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven, we are praying to see more of this perfection here and now in our lives.
Jesus was born sinless and did live a sinless life. But Jesus learned obedience, and He was made perfect along the way with his actions and His ability to navigate suffering, pain, and all that life threw at him. It was through perseverance that Jesus was made perfect and ready to become our eternal salvation. We do not need to focus on perfection; Jesus is our perfection. We need to focus on following Jesus and allowing Him to be our source of strength and comfort as we walk through the challenges of life and the suffering that we face. Our pain is what will draw us to Jesus, and our suffering is what will make us more Christ-like.
This is a promise in as much it is a promise for us to claim; as much as his offer and promise of giving us His peace, not as as the world gives, but “My” Peace. He would give it to me through his Holy Spirit. Supernatural peace.
God’s perfection
But whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him:

I was polygraphed to get a high security clearance, so I would guess polygraph is not novel for DHS employees. I also had to get random drug tests – the cost of keeping secrets secret.
Of course, it also depends on what the polygraph questions are. In the previous four years, the questions might have been DEI focused.
It’s an admittedly narrow distinction between determining trustworthiness, or compliance.
My son worked for a government agency and he had ransom drug tests with zero tolerance. A positive test meant immediate suspension. A follow up was done and I’d the test proved accurate it meant immediate firing.

Most people don’t want their career ruined by an “inconclusive” poly result which requires them to go back in and try again or risk losing their clearance.
The end result of the poly might not be that the poly identifies the liar. It’s the threat of the poly, and what gets said behind closed doors (prisoners dilemma) that leads to people confessing.

When anyone is hired for a U.S. government, they have to sign a letter acknowledging they can be polygraphed at any time. I saw a few people fired and walked out during my 20 years for flunking a polygraph
I’ve seen people lose their clearances over it. They were then fired for being unable to maintain their clearance.
The threat of a poly will generate leads for investigators. Polys can be beaten, but a leak situation probably involves multiple people in a division and everyone can’t beat the poly.
You don’t use a poly to fire people. You use the poly to narrow the investigative scope. Then you set leak traps like how Hollywood uses different scripts to find and fire leakers.
The poly creates a version of the “prisoners dilemma” which can generate investigative leads.
Btw, they do work and I’ve had a full scope poly. I dare anybody to take one where the results matter and tell me the process didn’t terrify you in some level. There’s a Seinfeld about it.

The key is to tell the truth – i.e., what used to be an automatic “you’re barred” isn’t so much the issue any longer as it is removing the opportunities for blackmail.
