Of course. My hypothesis is that these are dummy jobs for fake employees. The thieves are using their 10 year old kid’s SS# and/or their deceased great grandpa’s SS#. The “paycheck” gets direct deposited into a bank account and there you go, you are now doing one real job and have 2 fake jobs.
I wonder if they can deep dive to see if anyone has ever read, replied to, or deleted any email at all in the course of their “employment”?

It’s not uncommon that social security numbers of the deceased are in use.
There are innumerable cases where a retiree, who has long since been deceased, now has earnings being posted to it.
Retiree still alive, and have not been employed since retirement, are having that happen to their accounts. They may receive increases in their monthly benefit as a result. This can occur if the earnings being posted fraudulently to their account is higher than the earliest posting in their work history that was originally used to calculate the benefit amount. The retiree can be subject to an overpayment recovery by SSA unless they alert the agency that they may not have been due tjis increase adjustment.
Recently last year there was a story about thousands of retirees had been overpaid – whether it was due to this type of fraud I cannot state.
this problem can also occur while a worker is still employed and someone else is using their number at the same time.

Using these fake jobs for election fraud.
A standard audit practice of a properly run payroll department is to periodically require that the payroll checks be handed out, personally, to each employee being paid. Phantom employees are located this way.
Elon is just doing a version of that control.

I agree. A major portion of the bureaucracies and departments have all been rife with theft and fraud.
I have read that PDJT is getting ready to move the USPS into the Commerce Department where Howard Rutnick will take a chain saw to it. I have not read anything conclusive about it, yet.
The USPS actively participates in Election Fraud. Other than junk mail and a few greeting cards, no one uses snail mail.
I believe that there are a lot of affirmative action do nothing jobs in the USPS, and the money direct deposited into the bank accounts of fake employees is used for election cheating, reparations, ActBlue, BLM, and any other anti-American activities.

They just need one person to make sure everything that goes on board goes through a scanner.
The scanner can be monitored remotely. They already are “trained” to spot contraband.
If something suspicious is detected, airport security can investigate or even local LEO.
There’s no need for Feds to be involved with enforcement.
The ONLY place that TSA should be is at international terminals checking flights incoming from overseas – i.e. to protect the US and its citizens from foreign threats. The Constitution expressly forbids unreasonable search and seizures – which is exactly what domestic TSA is/does.
The Constitution already forbids the existence of TSA at ANY federal level, including international.
Note the difference between “foreign threats” and what I am guessing you are talking about – “American citizens.”

at this “stage”, I believe it is important to filter people leaving the US as well. We have an estimated 10-20 million illegals in this country ….we have to be vigilant to know which one’s are flying out and where they are going. This will be very helpful to track for instance, how they got paid and how much to demand they repay US WE THE PEOPLE.
and also to filter them to make sure they are not simple illegals, but to inspect they do not have terror org ties…or ties to NGO’s (is there a difference? serious question).
also, we need to replace TSA idiots and the entire apparatus with real world functioning military type “force protection teams”…we do this in foreign military operations and bases world wide….call it an access list. Call it filtering for bad guys.
also noting: there is no doubt in my mind that thousands and thousands (and more) of government employees and contractors have already and many more will be leaving the US to attempt to obscure theft. We need to filter for that also.
these are just ideas. and suggestions. we need to hunt them down just as much as we need to hunt down illegals…same same.

I would think that a large portion of the recording and filtering could/is accomplished via the standard customs processes. TSA is more of a search and scan operation + ID checks.
Regarding illegals – out the door, goodbye, good luck, don’t come back. Think it would cost more to try to track and somehow squeeze blood from those turnips than it was worth regarding repayment. Truth be known – that debt is really owned by the corrupt politicians that enabled and authorized it. Also think the number is pushing more like 35 to 50M total. The “absolutely no government funding or aid” change by PDJT will make a HUGE difference IMO.
Most definitely not one to trade the illusion of safety, or even real safety improvements, for Constitutional rights – in fact, unwilling to trade them away in any form or fashion – or for any reason.
That said, embezzlers and similar thieves can almost always be tracked down via the fund flows. Most of them aren’t near sophisticated or savvy enough to do it without traceable footprints. The bigger problem has been the active cover-up by the trackers for their like-minded thieves.
An ex-NYPD acquaintance says that there’s a question on the police exam that asks which of the four cannot be detained in a traffic stop: A doctor, a firefighter, a government official or a postal worker.
The answer is that postal trucks cannot be stopped. The mail delivery cannot be interrupted mid route.

My late husband was a contractor for OTR mail hauling( Atlanta to Knoxville) The trailers are Sealed at departure. They remain Sealed until arriving at destination. NO one can break that Seal and that means NO one but A designated Postal employee…
this does not apply to medium duty ” daily” delivery vehicles…and what you are referring to is USPS. does not apply to “contract” drivers and vehicles. (yes, we are initiated in the ways of corruption)

I still use snail mail – and it is terrible. Have sent certified PRIORITY mail with tracking that has simply disappeared, had zero tracking information – and which then suddenly popped up as being delivered WEEKS later.
To save money, the big thing IMO to do is to charge letter rates to junk mail generators and standard rates to Amazon and other shippers. Most junk mail is sent for pennies on the dollar. Same for some of the bigger retailers.
Not true, lots of people use snail mail. People that bank online pay a lot of companies and people by check. Many are electronic checks but there are still many that are not setup to accept electronic checks, especially individuals, small businesses, and local governments. Also, many online stores send packages via USPS. Snail mail is alive and well, but needs to be cleaned up and made more efficient.
Agree….there are many things that need mail delivery…one example, wedding invitations.
As you write, it’s very inefficient but I would wager citizens have lots of excellent ideas to make it work better. I live in a gated community of about. 2000 and yet we all have mail boxes in front of our houses with individual delivery. There should be banks of mail boxes throughout the property so delivery could be faster and less costly. Every new development should be required to include mail box kiosks. Anyone still getting a newspaper could have it delivered the same way.
Same with very rural areas…they have to go “into town” for supplies on a regular basis…so make mail pickup a part of that. Only special deliveries, extra cost, should be home delivered.
Stop Saturday deliveries….there are very few things that absolutely need to be received on a weekend.
Consider a self- employed contract employee to bid on routes…no health or pensions…just like a paper route.
A friend’s daughter just got married and the wedding invitation listed a website to RSVP. None of our friends could figure out how to navigate the RSVP on that website. For one, there were numerous couples with the same names ie.. “Bob & Jane’s wedding.”
My friend wound up having to call everybody to get their RSVP by phone.
I discovered that some merchants will give a discount if paying by check instead of using debit cards because the bank fees for debit cards are taking a hit on the bottom line for the merchant. Was really surprised, the auto mechanic gave a flat 10% discount when I paid by check.
The plumbing company also gave a discount when I paid with a check. Offered them the debit card to pay with but they also preferred receiving the check.
I do require bills be sent by mail instead of online, that paperless option, because if out of sight, out of mind, so don’t want to not pay because being busy and never seeing the bill completely forget about it, especially power bills.

This is very similar to a case that l was consulted on. It involved an outside contractor providing cleaning services to a very large conglomerate based in the UK. There were suspicions of fraud etc.
For 4 weeks, the contractor switched from electronic payroll to a cash payout which meant all employees had to turn up at the factory to get their pay packets handed to them. Each pay packet had the employee’s name written on it. Needless to say, there were quite a few pay packets left over and some people did try the old ” l can collect it for my mate etc. ”
It turned out that the contract manager had a Rolls Royce, race horses etc. It had been going for years.
I’m so old I remember when physical attendance/attendance was tracked. Like with a check mark.
Consequences for not showing up without contact and explanation early in the shift were swift and sure.
as was “time fraud”..
and that is what is going on. finding it is the easy part….directing justice to specific PEOPLE will take the action of thousands and thousands and thousands of investigators and prosecutors.
this is the problem the Corruptors have developed and created: an enormous scope of fraud across many levels…the idea is that it’s just too large in scale to prosecute.

The paper pay stub goes to employee and money automatically deposits each month. That’s how it is in c@lifonia.
When I attend training from the feds, they require my bank information and directly deposit it. They don’t mail checks.
Fraud appears to be the modus operandi for a significant number of persons in the “public service” sector.
DOGE has done a bang up job of pulling the sheets back and starting the disinfection process with the federal bureaucracy.
I once worked for the State of Texas. We were a bunch of engineers and scientists. I would say a good 90% did their job well. Many moved on to the private sector. I used to encourage the younger staff to take advantage of all the training that was offered. It served them well in private practice.
That was 40 years ago. Times have changed. I’m still practicing…. 🤓
Similar experiences and observations with Florida and the current one.
I encourage the bright younger ones to experience private practice or move up the management ladder.
I enjoy fieldwork, as long as the eyesight allows. I meet 💯 more conservatives!
Two of the younger ones became my boss. One rose through the ranks quite successfully and is inside and very high up in an organization located where the @thletics used to play. If you were trying to flag down a police officer there, you might yell “Hey you, Cop!”

While back one of the new administrators for a public school, Chicago maybe? Not sure! Made the final paycheck for all teachers to be handed personally by paper check. Almost half were no shows. These are fraudulent individuals receiving government funds. Can you imagine the combined impact that has across our nation? Dept of non education knows this I’m sure and these criminals in Congress perpetuate it. Maxine Waters was screaming loud on dept of non education.

We all, well most of us, know what the object of the exercise is with the Email, much of it is on what you just posted, they are probing to see how many responses they get and I’m sure that’s a part of the strategy.
There are several whiners from the peanut gallery that complain everyday like they know the plan. Frankly they don’t know anything except sowing discontent and a lot of times they work in tandom answering each other. When the subject dies down after taking up half a page one of them resurrects the topic.
If somebody never responds, you know who is probably not reading their email. So you send a reminder… amd if you still don’t get a response, then you’re on a list.
In the real world, companies actively monitor whether or not you’re logged into VPN and for how long, how many times per week you badge into an office building, whether or not you’re actually sitting at a computer and typing, etc.
My kiddo works partly remote for a large company and they are required to log in and be monitored every single minute of the day, and if hours aren’t met they take your PTO time. Only way to ensure accountability in remote work.
I work for a large company with a hybrid workforce. While they do not have a formal monitoring policy I have always been convinced they are “watching”. Which by the way, is why I do ABSOLUTELY no personal anything on my work PC.
The company has a robust system of accountability centered around very strict deadlines. They know when emails go unread. They don’t dock PTO unless someone fails to complete their time sheets – which by the way gets audited on a regular basis. Failure to meet deadlines will earn you a “talk” from your supervisor/department head and possibly a visit with HR.
As with private companies, this one has to account for every penny so paying ghost employees is possible but highly unlikely.
The problem is, the Government is working on antiquated systems. It would be harder for them to technically monitor employee input.
Glad that bringing government systems up to today’s technology is in consideration. I suggest some of the money recouped from the DOGE audits be applied to this kind of project.

I’ve never had time to do anything personal on my company laptop; however, the main reason I wouldn’t is that it allows all kinds of “stuff” into your computer, eventually slowing it down or completely taking it out. This one company I worked for as a contractor, all the employees in the department where I worked (acctg/finance) would play games, shop, etc. Their computers were toast in under 2 years. They couldn’t understand why mine would last for 5-6 years easy!
I’m paranoid and proud of it texas!!! I’ve seen colleagues with all kinds of personal things on their work computers. Me? It ain’t my employer’s business but it IS their computer so I give them the respect of using their resources for their business.
My company also restricts certain types of websites – youtube for example.
Also, perhaps, someone can claim that payments that started a while ago thay had no knowledge of.
Responding to even say I can’t do this because of security is an active act by somebody which they can track.

You’ve got a great point. It “landed” badly with me when I first read it. I would be upset if my company started demanding I account for every minute of every day and I am in 80% of the 80/20 workforce rule.
But if the argument is that many federal employees are either ghosts or that a huge number are in the 20% this would be a valuable exercise. The ghosts can’t respond. The do nothings will get offended and not respond. The 80s will happily respond because after all thats why they are the 80s.
My problem with the outrage crowd is that they have applied the Alinsky rule to USAID and USAID only. I am sitting quietly by and wait for the eggs to start flying.

People do get legitimately sick occasionally and could innocently miss checking emails for that day.

But also, if, as stated, this is about looking for essentially “ghost jobs” then they’re really just looking for who actually responds (i.e. is a warm body) and not what they’re actually doing in that job.
Imagine if half the people sent the email don’t reply? That means we’re paying twice what we should be because the ‘job’ on the other end is just a dump-off point for a fraudulent payout or because the person literally can’t be bothered to read their work related email for a week or more at a time.
My hunch is its actually more like 80% are just money holes… because really, do you really think it takes two million people to actually run the non-military parts of the government? Or would more like 400,000 people (20%) actually be enough to handle everything?
My bet is on 400,000 actual employees who actually do their jobs and if you offloaded the other 1.6 million it might even improve government efficiency.

Overall view:
As an employee and a citizen, one should understand that the country is in a dire situation with a massive debt and an ever increasing interest payment that is dwarfing most all other funding. If something isn’t done to correct this problem almost nobody will have a job and the Great Depression will look like a cake walk. I should understand what the issues are and even see with my own two eyes how many people put in little to no effort at work. Therefore I should be more than willing to help an do such a trivial thing in order to help secure a solvent, healthy nation.
Should a preface in the letter outlined that overall view and actively sought employee buy-in? Sure – but as an adult I would look past the ‘clunkiness’ towards the bigger picture. Additionally, ultimately the only person responsible for how one reacts is themselves.
Who’s the boss?
The President is their boss (or more correctly, the American people are) and Musk works directly for him and is doing what he is told to do. To say “he isn’t their boss” is like saying “your supervisor or program manager isn’t your boss because he isn’t the CEO.”
In regards to the questions:
In many (most?) businesses there are yearly evaluations, often including self-evaluations. In many (most?) businesses there is a requirement to provide regular, periodic status reports. This is no different, regardless of how high up the command chain it is going.
In regards to job concerns:
As an employee, I would rather have some kind of input into the decision making process (these are the task specific things I’ve been doing) instead of those at the top going – “Ok, we’re going to cut X% of the workforce and we’re randomly choosing people or using some arbitrary attribute.”
Further, it is the boss’ (PDJT’s) job to decide whether or not your job is important and whether or not you are doing a good job and whether or not the company (government in this case) can afford to pay you what they pay you for what you do. Government isn’t (or at least shouldn’t) be a money transfer machine, taking money from ‘normal’ people and putting it into the pockets of others.
As someone who has worked building, planting, installing/demolishing and serving things it’s weird to read about people having to prove they went to work and actually did something to justify their paychecks! In my world if things aren’t handled in the timeliest of fashions, I don’t eat.
Indeed. The progress and work is self evident on small time scales in such cases and as you say, if it doesn’t get done there won’t be any food on the table.
To varying degrees most jobs are that way. The differences are when their are very large teams whose work product is harder to see or measure. The government bureaucracy is likely the worst in that regard.
Ultimately it always comes down to leadership and oversight.

The employees are supposed to cc their HR departments, so this is not all going to DOGE and nowhere else.
DOGE is initiating the data collection. I’m not sure how involved DOGE truly is in making individual termination recommendations.
DOGE should be coordinating with the agencies and departments. Apparently, there is some coordination because Doug Collins has exempted some categories of employees at the VA from the DOGE process for now.
In the case of the FBI, the timing of the email could not be worse. IMO.

Why would Elon care about how bureaucratic functionaries might react to his emails? I know I don’t. I am, in fact, a “normal person” so I can speak to this issue with some degree of certainty.

Our country literally depends on immediately fixing this non-functioning bureaucracy.

Early 2000’s we were shocked at work to hear that the supervisor at another Fl state office was arrested, at work, for viewing pornography on his computer.

As a college student I had to report to the GBI, every six months for fingerprinting and a background check. I had to do that to go to my job.

I was talking about this last night to a former CHP officer. He used to inspect the vehicles used to transport the chickens and turkeys. He’s been inside.
My uninformed opinion was to let natural selection take out the weak and you’re left with a stronger bird.

It’s kind a fluke but my grandpa was the long time prosecutor in Union County NJ. He was a Republican and Jewish. When he retired he had one client, the Alexian Brothers, and they had one lawyer.

Once upon a time in my previous life, I was married to a doctor who was setting up his practice, and he was hiring an office manager.
In the notice, we asked for a brief (brief being the key word) resumé giving personal particulars and a job history with phone number for references. That was it.
You wouldn’t believe how many people sent in volume length resumés which included all sorts of information unasked for and which was immaterial to the job description.
One lady’s offering was a single page with all we asked for on it, nothing extraneous. She followed instructions. She was the only one.
She set the tone for a successful interview whereupon we hired her on the spot. She was superb and remained with him for the entire forty years of his practice until he retired.
All for simply following instructions.
I find no problem with this. It will probably be the easiest thing they will ever be asked to do.

Mr. Beast (a YouTuber) went to one of the places that was being “helped” to get clean water… and they were STILL getting their water from the river. He showed up and drilled a well. Transformed that villages life. Billions spent to do stuff that never gets done because they have to have meetings, contract with subs who contract with subs… until there is no money to actually do what they intended. I work as a contractor and pay social security tax that is about 4 months of the social security I receive annually. It does not increase my benefit as the earnings doesn’t supplant any of the 40 years of income used in the calculation of SS benefits. So I directly pay a quarter of my benefits while also having paid in over 40 years, then I pay income tax on the social security I receive. What about single people who pay SS and sadly die before collecting or shortly thereafter. The so-called surplus when receipts exceeded outlays doesn’t exist, never did, other than in the form of special Treasury bonds (IOUs). This is not intended to be a personal whine, I just don’t understand how this system was busted. All government programs and expenditure is suspect. DOGE it out of existence as far as I’m concerned. If a private company ran a plan like this there’d be a number of people going to jail.

The reason you are having difficulty with the “bad math” is that social security isn’t a pension program. It is an old-age/disability entitlement program.
FDR and co. sold it as some kind of pension because no way would it have been accepted otherwise.
So, instead of basing the benefits solely on “need”, it went with a hybrid kind of system that was seen to reward moral merit, i.e. benefits would be roughly (very roughly and imperfectly) kind of calculated on what was paid in (plus a benefit for spouses who might have paid in nothing, plus a step-up when the worker husband died, and no residue if a worker died before getting benefits, etc. — and numerous other exceptions and deviations), BUT…
Notwithstanding the hugely successful propaganda and that nearly everyone looks at social security as some kind of pension, it is instead an unfairly calculated old-age welfare entitlement.
It is paid from the general revenues on the backs of current workers. And the lowest portion of incomes although the cutoff which once was easily reached as increased way above where it originally was.
Workers in the first waves of retirement and for some years thereafter actually received far more than they ever paid in were that calculated as savings plus a good rate of return. And now, it’s not infrequently the reverse.
I realize this is unpopular to say. It’s a rare person who doesn’t get upset when I say that it isn’t a pension. But now we’ve had like, what… four generations who refuse to admit they’ve been lied to, hoodwinked?

SS has been lied about by its supporters for decades. There is not “Trust Fund” with money in it. All it contains are IOUs by the government to itself. The money all got spent the instant it was received for benefits….and anything left over was spent and IOUs were stuffed into that “Trust Fund”.

I was the last person Gonzalo Lira called before he got arrested and died at the hands of the Ukrainian war regime.
He sent me a direct message and we went into a zoom call. He was in a small room, extremely nervous, smoking one cigarette after the other. I had never seen so directly the mental effect that physical torture and extortion can do to a man.
In the previous months, he had been tortured by his Ukrainian guards, and amounts in the 6 figures were illegally taken from him as they forced him to reveal his passwords through physical torture unto his nails and eyes. One of these amounts was the 6-figure amount that had been dormant in his Patreon account, which his fans had donated to him across the years. Gonzalo was rich enough that he never needed to withdraw it, but I know it was the pride of his life; the idea that a bunch of regular people thought his commentary was worth enough to pay for when they didn’t have to.
Two years before that call, a very intelligent and enlightened version of Gonzalo had called me. He was in the UK, then. He had then told me: “JF I’m about to do something radical. A radical change. I won’t tell you what it is, but things are about to change in my life. I’ll be covering something different.”
It’s only later that I got to know he had decided to go live in Ukraine with a family he had already established there, and he would then make a stand as a free thinking commentator as the war raged on, staying at the frontline with a clear message: The West is not the side of freedom it claims to be. Little did we know then that things would escalate to the point that his own death would prove that point conclusively.
Before he got brought to prison and died, the Gonzalo Lira I was seeing on screen in that zoom call was not the enlightened man I used to know. It’s very hard to explain what torture does to a man, but if I was to summarize it for you, it strips a man of his humanity and turns him into a scared rat-like creature. Shifty, squirrely, looking out the window in nervousness at all times. The man who was capable of delivering such intelligent analysis on this war, the first to call out the impossibility of what Western countries were demanding of Ukraine (everyone knows today he was right), that man was reduced to a state of constant fear.
I did not tell Gonzalo how different he was. I thought the best I could do was to stand there emotionless, a reassuring pillar of autism on which he could hang unto in order to stay afloat mentally.

“So how’s everything?,” he asked, as he was lighting up another cigarette.
I knew there was not much I could do for him. I didn’t tell him how he could flee the regime or how he should behave. I didn’t tell him that everything was going to be okay. I didn’t tell him he could survive this.
I told him that the sacrifice he had done was the most honorable thing in the history of independent journalism. That his action in standing at the front line of a war while calling the lie that it was based on would remain engraved in history. And that no matter what would happen from there, he had committed to a highly moral path that one day his children would read about.
Then as we ended the call I said: “Greatest respect to you, Coach.”
Hopefully the new US administration, with Trump and @elonmusk, ends up understanding his message: that any money sent Ukraine’s way is not only a waste, it’s an active investment into corruption and death. That the corruption does not lie only on the Ukrainian side, that it lies in the Blinkens and Nulands of our side. And, finally, that beyond the people that had to die in the war itself, so many were also just executed politically with the intent of socially engineering this war. Earlier this month, DOGE released a list of items that have been scrapped as part of its cost-cutting initiative. There’s been one company that’s developed an EM knockdown capability for swarms that uses conventional phased array methods. There’s really nothing that can be done against a masked EMP attack due to the altitude of the burst – any satellite in low earth orbit could be the attack vehicle and there would be no warning – simply *poof*.
Hypersonic is nothing more than going faster than Mach 5 (3836 mph) – something ballistic missile warheads have done for quite some time. Earth escape velocity (25K+ mph) is more than 6x Mach 5. In and of itself, it isn’t new – what’s new is the maneuverability. This might be an application – for the targeting system. It can – and should – still have a human in the loop making the decision.

I was right about Ukraine. The war I feared came to pass. It was nothing to do with a fictional desire by Russia to sweep westwards across Europe. Russia lacks the strength to do this, and Putin knows it.

I was right, too, that the USA used Ukraine as a battering ram against Russia. A direct war between US and Russian forces could easily lead to a nuclear confrontation. But if the USA’s work was done under Ukrainian flags, that was not a risk. Yet Ukraine, even helped by huge piles of money and munitions, could not defeat Russia.
So, goodbye Kiev. All those people who used to tell me I was ‘denying Ukraine’s agency’ in the war can now see that the war always belonged to Uncle Sam, and Ukraine had no agency.
