I have a suggestion for President Trump:
Please shed a light on the “Notch Baby” BS law passed so many years ago –
my Dad (born in 1924, passed away in 1969) was a Notch Baby – so was my stepdad (born in 1917, passed away in 2015, the day after his 98th birthday).
You will see various explanations about why the “Notch Baby” law made sense and that there is nothing to be done about it – but when you see that the SSA has been disbursing Social Security payments to these “people” who are really anciently old and perhaps did not ever exist, I think it warrants a reexamination of the “Notch Baby” BS –
it would be wonderful for starters if President Trump would erase the “Notch Baby” BS to the extent that at least REAL human recipients of Social Security would receive SSA payments on the same basis that non-Notch Baby people received and continue to receive.
The “Notch Baby” change was initiated to deny those age groups current social security rates that had built in cost of living adjustments at the time they would retire. For example effective June 1974 the lowest full age 65 benefit rate was $93.80 per month. In June 1975 that increased due to the cost of living of 7.5%. So if some one filed that month, or later that year, that person would receive that increased rate. This is what they sought to end and did.
Now it’s based on an indexed monthly earnings instead of average monthly wages (which notchers would have been under). This change to indexed earnings could actually give a monthly rate less than that of 1974.
An example of indexing: 1959 the most the SSA tax could be levied on was $4800. Anything over that amount was not taxed for SSA. Under indexing that $4800 is equal to $33,600 as of 2008. It might be more now?
When a person files today (and full age is 67 years old depending on year of birth) this indexing does not include past cost of livings. Once the monthly rate is determined it would then get whatever the next increase is.
In 1946 I read an old Chicago Daily News article that showed 83% of workers earned less than $3,000 in 1945. Only 1% of person s employed in 1945 earned over $5,000.
For 1937 through 1950 the SSA tax was 1% assessed up to $3.000 and of course the employer matched that “contribution” for a total of a maximum $60 in SSA taxes paid per year.
When Medicare started the “premium” was under $4.00 per month.
My mother was a notch baby.
Prior to 1974 all social security increases were “political” and not due to inflation. In 1968 the increase was 13%, 1970 it was 15%, 1971 = 10% and September 1972 it was 20%.
After 1982 they reconstructed the how the cost of livings were calculated and they were limited to 3 – 3.5% at most until very recently during the past administration which caused inflation to hit 9%.
Kindly remember that, at that time, “an ounce of gold cost $35.”

Hilarious. I just stumbled across this yesterday on TV. Still, a wonderful classic movie.
Correcting myself on an earlier post – I thought my Dad would have been in the “Notch Baby” sector re Social Security (Dad was born in 1924) but the “Notch Baby” period is 1917-1921 – still, there are lots of “Notch Babies” or their widows still going that IMHO should not have had that money stolen from their checks!
In our local newspapers or even free papers (Tidbits), there are articles from time to time about the “Notch Baby” law and that there is some explanation about why they needed to pass that “Notch Baby” law back in 1977.
When you see that Congress passed that “Notch Baby” law in 1977 but were apparently oblivious to all those “people” receiving SSA payments, something does not smell right! It was supposed to “correct” a mistake and REALLY you aren’t out of any money and despite wondering if they were projecting that this group and their dependents would be dying off and no one would be around to complain, it just seems pretty “sus” that they didn’t stop making those SSA payments to all those millions of phony recipients!

What is the “notch” and what caused it?
The term “notch” refers to Social Security benefits paid to people born between 1917 and 1921. The notch resulted from a 1972 change in the Social Security law that provided an annual automatic cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for benefits. The formula used to calculate the COLA was flawed, and the benefit levels actually rose faster than the rate of inflation.
Before the Congress corrected this error in 1977, the benefits for many people born between 1910 and 1916 were calculated using the flawed benefit formula, and they received an unintended windfall from Social Security. When the Congress fixed the mistake, it wanted to avoid an abrupt change for those who were about to retire, so it provided a transition period.
Therefore, when Social Security benefits are calculated for people born between 1917 and 1921, two computations are used. One calculation uses the new (and correct) 1977 formula, and the other uses a special transition formula. Benefits are based on whichever calculation pays the higher benefit. Prolonged exposure to high intensity electromagnetic radiation is detrimental to your health. Less specific to 5G frequencies then close proximity to an active high power emitter.
I’ll give the example of a favorite radio station WTOS. A station which broadcasts on 105.1 MHz FM with an antenna rated at 100 kilowatts on Sugarloaf mountain in the northeast.
The same principle applies to radar systems, which is why these systems are powered down when being serviced by technicians.
Frequency matters. 5G technology uses multiple frequency bands. Some of those bands are in the same spectral band as those in your microwave oven. Put yourself in a microwave and see what happens – versus the same field intensity of say audio.
Dosage over time matters more so than frequency.
A common microwave oven is going to be 1000 watts. Fortunately for consumers a microwave oven comes with a built in Faraday cage to keep that energy focused inside of the appliance to whatever is being “microwaved”.
Another point, audio is acoustic, not electromagnetic.
Milliwatts over the course of a day attributable to common consumer electronics is not anywhere near the same risk as kilowatts of energy in the span of minutes or seconds standing next to an active cell tower, radio transmitter, or radar installation.

Five Northern VA school districts probed on trans policies
The Education Department is investigating whether five Northern Virginia school districts violated Title IX and one of President Trump’s recent executive orders by allowing transgender students to use their chosen name and pronouns at school and access restrooms and locker rooms that match their gender identity.
The department’s Office for Civil Rights opened probes into the Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William County school districts, according to a letter sent Wednesday to America First Legal, a conservative organization founded by White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller.
The group had asked the department to conduct investigations into the five school districts earlier this month, alleging each of them had continued enforcing policies meant to support transgender students in violation of Title IX, the federal civil rights law banning sex discrimination in schools. The policies vary by school district, but all allow transgender students to use restrooms and changing rooms that match their gender identity…
