Morning, Garrison 😘 A whirlwind week it has been for me…and our warm interval has moved on, dragging the cold back in. So cold that the little waif who, unlike his companion, has been extremely cautious of coming in, finally did tonight just as I was turning in. A remarkable change. He had a bowl of kibbles while I sat on the floor near. Then he made such a fuss of me, nose to nose, and then relaxing, walking around rubbing his face against every piece of furniture, then back to me before wandering off for a reconnaissance of the house…and finally to the guest bedroom where he has found a place to settle.
We have not seen his very friendly companion today, which is concerning, as he comes in every morning for his breakfast, repairing after to the room where his friend is now, and then off again after. Nowt so strange as cats, right?
So here I am at three am with my cup of tea and your beautiful music…right after I leave a few CURSDAY finds 💕
The guilt would be so great for me, I’d have to keep throwing.

Oh so true, Corny 😌💕 I so love this photo…reminds me of how we used to come home from work when we lived in Wales. Our sweet Jack Russell Penny would be perched on the back of the sofa in the living room, the window of which faced the lonnnnng gravel drive we turned into.
Her internal timepiece told her exactly when to assume the position for her vigil. And the moment she saw either car arrive, she’d mad dash to the back Dutch door and hurl herself through the cat flap to run around the house to greet us. Her little rear end wiggling so hard we thought she’d take off like a helicopter…golly, we do miss her…
No matter how our days went, good or bad, they were made so much better for the loving greetings we always received 💕

Yesterday was an anniversary of losing 2 of our fur kids, Sweeney and Bonesy (different years)
Though I cannot remember why I entered a room, I remember those milestones. Such is my mind!
Our pups wear halo collars that allow us to track them on our phone (like you would a teenager 😉!)
We come home at unpredictable times these days, but if I’m tracking Kari & Kelli, they start “staging” part way down our dirt drive about 15 minutes before we arrive. No better welcoming committee!
It’s uncanny.
We had a border collie mix…she would wake me at exactly the same time when I was sleeping…(night worker)….she had the kids school bus timed…and my coffee pot….she would wake me at 2:10…enough time to make coffee and go unlock the door…for the littles…

So his companion finally came in this morning, ate,and yeaded back to his spot. He knew straight away his friend was there, and so instead of on top of tue bed, he joined him under. I just checked to make sure all was well because it was about 10:30 last night when little Tux disc-appeared and still hasn’t come out. I lifted the bedspread and he was there. Seems to have no inclination to come out for tue moment, not even for food. Mind, it is bitterly cold here now with a strong wind making it colder, so I suppose his instinct tells him best stand where he is.
I have placed a litter tray in the laundry room door where it can’t be missed. That’s the only thing I am concerned about…that it will be used 😬
Lovely Lad, which is what I am calling the other for the moment because no name I have come up with so far feels right, popped right out for a major loving fuss and is now in his usual spot…gosh I wish it would warm up. Brrrrrrrr.

We have an undetermined number of feral kitties residing in the garage. Most are totally unapproachable. We feed them and they sleep in the rafters, but I still worry about them on the cold nights. 😔

I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Hmmm, perhaps it is only coincidence, but this is the 20th poem of yours I’ve saved thus far. Is it coincidence that The number 20 can symbolize a complete or perfect waiting period, as seen in Jacob’s journey and Israel’s liberation? This theme is also reflected in the stories of King Ahaz, who ruled Judah for 20 years, and Solomon, who spent 20 years building his temple and home. Now take Annie’s owl theme together with your wisdom post and poem and will you call it coincidence – just maybe there’s a bit more to it (wisdom). Knowledge one can get from college, wisdom comes from God. I hope and pray He will be generous with us. Anyway, Annie every time I see those pics it triggers this.

Models trended significantly colder overnight. There’s little doubt about next week being a “climate emergency” with extreme cold — perhaps historical — wrecking the central United States. The Polar Vortex is unleashed at maximum ferocity.
As long as it stays on THAT side of the Rockies.
I drove home last night in – 5. I haven’t seen negative temps on the car thermometer in years. I hope my gray water line thaws this weekend.
I used to live in Sioux Falls so I know what cold is; Mom and Dad let us go outside one night in – 55. Didn’t like it then, don’t like it now.

I topped off my wood rack in the house yesterday. Seasoned wood is getting low and I won’t burn the Chinese elm cut down last summer because burning uncured wood that has more than 20% moisture causes more build up in the flue/chimney.
Never mind that I will have our certified chimney sweep that installed the insert come and give it all a good cleaning this summer. I still don’t like the idea of burning that uncured wood. It harder to start, takes longer to get a good bed of coals which is what really puts out the heat, and still doesn’t put out as much heat once it’s going.
So I’m holding the last of my cured wood until the real cold gets here.
I’ve burned about 4x more wood this winter than I have in the last two winters since I got my fireplace insert.
Up until now I’ve only stacked my wood 3 stacks deep even though I have room for four stacks. That will change this summer when I cut and split and Sherry stacks the wood on the right side of the lean-to which is now empty.

I love bats.
They are very important in reforestation after a fire.
Bats are great. I hate mosquitos.
But they can carry rabies. I won’t touch one, but will try to get it outside unharmed.
