I’m wondering if it is possible, plausible even, that some of these deep state connected players are trying to disentangle the legitimate functions of intelligence and related soft power tools from the unconstitutional excesses which they have been taken in the past 25 years (and more).
You can – however unlikely – recognize the US has to have these capabilities in dealing with the world as it is, not as we would like it to be, but also that the capabilities need to be carefully circumscribed and controlled so that they do not remain the puppet masters and corrupt establocrats they have been for decades.
The only people who have a prayer of making the distinctions and helping Trump and the elected leadership sort this out successfully are those who really understand the intelligence deep state from the inside – it’s risky because they may be captured by it or become its creatures, but it is the only way without truly harming our ability to act in the world and preserve our liberties.
That is the best we can hope for.

Trump is giving us a crash course on how to shrink the malignant CIA tumor.
First, you eliminate the cash cow they use to peddle influence and destabilize governments they don’t like.

What this tells me is that this new intelligence oversight of the CIA is nothing more than a facade. Trump will be getting his real intelligence from Tulsa and her group of Trump supporters, not a group of wealthy swamp creatures.
There’s not a single person on that committee with any experience at anything other than supporting the deep state. If it is obvious to us, it is obvious to Trump.
