We have had to deal with “arbitrary and capricious” for years. DOGE is not arbitrary and capricious- but if it were, they can deal with it.
The timing is interesting considering President Trump said in yesterday’s airplane presser that they would find fraudulent payments when they audit the Treasury.
I am hearing the sound of pigs hung under a gate while they are trying to escape.
Perfect description
It’s about time someone spoke back to these thugs like the spoiled brats they are.
Mr. Musk: Utilizing “Drunken Democrats” instead of “drunken sailors” carries a lot more firepower. Drunken Democrats would sell the propellers, rudders and lifeboats off a ship at sea as long as they didn’t own the ship while Drunken Sailors wouldn’t sell their homeland down the drain for any price.
I scanned through hundreds of responses to Lawrence Summers post on X (shown above).
100% of the posts were against Summers. I did not see a single post in support of this loser.
The ratio was complete.
Geithner was exposed as a stinking tax cheat. But was still approved as Treasury Sec’y. Any wonder he hates DOGE?
US Fed gobment makes drunken sailors look like Scrooge before his nightmares
Yellen signs. Isn’t that rich?
Should Trump impose a moratorium on academic visas going to Chinese nationals?
People have been writing that they do not want the U.S. to rebuild Gaza or Greenland or any other such place, but rather to rebuild e.g. Gary, Indiana or the Chicago slums or _____ (insert decayed town here).
The problem with rebuilding slums or dilapidated cities is the very real possibility that the area will deteriorate very quickly again, because the people who allowed or even caused the deterioration remain the same.
The people involved are not just the un-or-undereducated, the unemployed or the unemployable, the drug-addled, the generally unintelligent, or the criminals.
Other people are the landlords, who milk a property dry without ever repairing it properly, real estate speculators, local politicians from zoning boards* to the mayor, et al.
The above lists are not meant to be comprehensive.
The point is that you can spend a billion dollars or more to resurrect the physical properties and streets and sidewalks of a downtown, a neighborhood, or an entire city, but if the population has not also been rehabilitated, you are throwing money away!
And that population must be involved in some personal way in the resurrection! If you chase them away through higher property values, you are simply transferring them to other areas, which will soon be trashed and ruined in the same way.
In short, you need a simultaneous moral and spiritual resurrection in the thinking of the people living in the trashed city.**
* Zoning boards in my experience are notoriously corrupt: I have known several builders and contractors throughout the decades in various cities, and each one maintained that zoning boards (and similar county or city officials) too often allowed bad ideas to mushroom, e.g. allowing a neighborhood with mansions to go downhill by allowing the new owners of the property to subdivide the e.g. 8-bedroom mansion into an 8-person apartment house, a recipe for instant slumhood.
** Having worked with the lower classes and seen their houses or apartments, you would think they are unable to bend over at the waist to pick up any trash in their yards or inside their own living space. I can tell you that I have literally walked through living rooms with trash and garbage on the floor, when I was delivering food to the people’s kitchen…which was also a disaster.
Were they so depressed that they felt unable to clean anything? Perhaps if they cleaned their sties, they would feel better about themselves (?)
They have no pride and nothing to look forward to. Their lives are indeed miserable and so they think “why should I even bother?”
Some people live day to day only.
Not waking up would be worse given a choice.
That is exactly why Welfare was created. To put people down, and more importantly, keep them down.
LBJ saying we will those ____ voting democrat for 200 years is the perfect example.
Make every welfare recipients Post Office address; Nome Alaska and they personally have to appear to pickup their welfare check.
I occasionally watch an episode of Hoarders and have learned that, as often as not, after having the benefit of outsiders coming in and cleaning up the most incredible of messes, these people retain their habits and their places return to the same condition within a short time.
All cultures are NOT the same. And people who have been given the opportunity to live without experiencing the consequences of their actions don’t have incentive to change.
The buck stops with POTUS and the grifting stops with DOGE.
Trust God.
Fear not.
I have seen examples of what you say personally. Historic districts with charming homes carefully restored and then rent-subsidized or sold through special programs, and you go back within a decade and see the places well on the way back to derelict slums, for one.
Here’s a thread about what it’s like to exist in “poor” neighborhoods.
The writer is ‘situationally’ poor, a student living where they can afford to.
My friend’s parents lived in Harvey, Illinois. Her father was a long distance
truck driver; her mother a homemaker. They moved to Mesa, Arizona
when he retired to be close to family members.
My friend and her mom came to Illinois for a visit. The mom asked me to
take her to Harvey to see her old house. I did, and she cried when she saw it.
The yard was in shambles, cars up on blocks, mattresses strewn
in the yard which had not been mowed for some time. The trim
on the home was painted purple.
It was a nice working class suburb at one time.
President Trump pushed for economic zones to help bring in jobs to depressed areas. With a combination of tariffs, tax reform, incentives for manufacturers, sane law enforcement, anti-corruption enforcement and job training, a depressed community can rebuild.
Alcohol and drug abuse can count for much of that irresponsible behavior. We can end up in a circuitous argument, ala “chicken or the egg” argument, of whether the substance abuse causes the depression or VICE versa. All the same, legalizing pot and gambling doesn’t stop pot smoking or gambling but it does encourage borderline people to abuse these things and the idea should be to minimize these behaviors and not encourage them.
“All the same, legalizing pot and gambling doesn’t stop pot smoking or gambling but it does encourage borderline people to abuse these things and the idea should be to minimize these behaviors and not encourage them.”
Amen! I complained earlier about Ohio’s legalization of marijuana in 2023 – pushed by a $10 Million + ad campaign about how people NEED marijuana for their various ailments – and that the anti-marijuana people had little organization and little money to counter the claims.
America does NOT need more bombed-out people in our society! Government should NOT be encouraging such behavior.
To be sure, the Ohio legislature is about to slap a 15% sales tax on marijuana. 😉 No opportunity to tax something goes to waste!
As long as people accept the narrative that they are helpless victims of some sort of “prejudiced” system, it will not change. As long as you are a victim there is no requirement on your part to do anything to change your circumstances.
Look what happens when anyone, an individual, a family decides to break the bonds – they are branded uppity, or thinking “white”, or thinking they are “better than”. Those are the attitudes that keeps the “inner city” the “inner city.”
I remember reading a few years ago at the height of the woke nonsense that things such as being on time, speaking in complete sentences, using proper grammar, dressing without hoodies and pants across one’s bottom, having a mom and dad who are married in the home – are all signs of white supremacy and should be rejected.
The left and its evil, inhuman agenda have inflicted massive psychological damage on these people, but it can end.
Same in Madison, MS. The Madison County Board of Supes receives tremendous campaign donations from developers. In return, they rubber stamp development plans. One developer in particular, known for his corruption, was caught last year having skirted legal requirements for rezoning. But for a dedicated group of local and engaged homeowners, the developer’s illegal plans were well on their way to acceptance by the Supes.
I worked with the poor in Section 8 housing in Charleston, SC with the St. Vincent de Paul Society at the Cathedral of St John the Baptist.
I can tell you the housing was impeccably maintained under the auspices of former Mayor Joseph Reilly who insisted on residents follow and authorities enforcing high community standards.
He would require offenders to find other housing to make room for law abiding people who need and appreciate help. There was never an outcry against his strict law and order policies. He was elected overwhelmingly for more than 30years. He retired to spend more time with his wife and family.
It can be done.
How did Riley do it? With respect for all. As soon as he left office. a PC and horribly inept mayor replaced him and the city declined in a few short years.
I don’t live there now but I still visit. It’s not the safe and beautiful city I once knew. I could walk after dark alone and not be fearful. Not anymore.
That was right after we relocated to IL…I remember some projects along a highway going towards No. Charleston…long ago…early 80’s…
Dear Aggiegirl what I neglected to explain about the respected and admired Mayor Riley was his love of God which he demonstrated toward all residents of my beloved Charleston. He was a devout man who could be seen in the pews with his family every Sunday at the Cathedral. He also worked with the Daughters of St Paul and their outreach and education programs downtown. I too worked for the Daughters program to offer comfortable space for College of Charleston students to gather in their King St bookstore.
We were well received by young and old, residents and visitors alike.
I have never experienced a more harmonious environment. It is possible to bring people together regardless of race, creed or socio-economic background under the right leadership.
A side note, North Charleston is a large bustling city in its own right with its own mayor and elected city officials.
I would welcome the South Africans to Gary Indiana.
Agree. You can only “help” someone to the degree they are willing to join the effort. If they don’t, you end up right back where you started, out time and money.
For communities to thrive people need a vested interest in their own success, jobs, homes, friends, family. Simple residency is not a tangible interest.
Hello Ausonius. I always enjoy your writing.
Call me the Gary, Indiana guy. Not for a second do I advocate throwing any more taxpayer money at Gary (or anywhere else) to fix the usual problems in the usual, unsuccessful ways (with the same corrupt dem and UniParty politicians in power). You and others on this thread accurately describe the countless ways that the usual efforts have failed over the last 60 years. The continuation of those failed efforts is the definition of insanity. However, with the leverage PDJT currently enjoys we have a short window to try new approaches (e.g. PDJT’s “Gaza Way Experiment”) on our own decaying cities and towns. Use these Trump experiments and initiatives on America First.
Vast sections of Gary must be leveled. All abandoned, decaying homes and other buildings must be condemned, leveled and all debris hauled away. I’m specifically referring to any and all buildings which can be viewed by commuters on the South Shore Commuter RR which operates between South Bend, IN and Downtown Chicago. Rudy Giuliani’s broken windows approach to crime in NYC comes to mind but in a Real Estate/Quality of Life analogy. Clean up the eyesores; start fresh with new Trumpian approaches and new Trump style incentives. Lets see if we can finally achieve success restoring dignity and Common Sense to our forsaken cities and towns.
I meant to say “any and all abandoned, decaying buildings which can be viewed by commuters,” etc.
A motto for the next 4 years (or 6 months): Close down 90% of the Federal Government, starting with the most corrupt areas first. DO IT NOW!
It comes from 2 Constitutionally legal entities Congress and the Judiciary.
I know this paper straw thing is/was for the environment. However, when you realize that for the last umpteenth years we have been sorting our cardboard – paper – glass – etc. etc., and in all those years, ONLY 5% actually gets recycled. Sheesh!!!
That really pisses me off. I used to collect all mine and drive to the air base and sort glass, aluminum, plastic and paper etc for years before the local government made it mandatory. They don’t do glass which I find ridiculous. I want a rebate and some space on my driveway.
I know! I’m all for recycling, for many reasons, but I’m not for going through the bother just to have it go in the trash anyway.
I did get sick of seeing nasty plastic straws all over the place.
We had to wash our plastics before putting them in the recycling bin…uh, no, not wasting water….
Trump: Palestinians wouldn’t have right to return to developed Gaza
This headline is very misleading.
Also, for the security and safety of people working on the rebuilding. Gazans has been conditioned and their mind poisoned with deadly rhetoric which Greenwald can never understood.
🤔 🤔 🤔
The people of Gaza are not going to
leave. Not willingly.
They have been fighting to keep their land
for over 100 years.
Beginning with the Balfour Declaration,
Sykes Picot and 1948. The Nakba has
been going on for too long.
It is not “deadly rhetoric “. It is viewed as a
fight to maintain and keep their land.
It is their land, they should be able to participate
in the rebuilding. Jobs during the rebuilding and
after reconstruction completed.
A joint partnership between US and Arab States/League.
Financed by Palestine giving leases jointly owned by U.S.
and Arab States of the known gas/oil located in Gaza, to
pay for the reconstruction costs.
With U.S. and Arab States both having vested interests in
the leases/assets it would ensure security in the region .
When reconstruction completed, the Palestinian people
currently displaced…5.4 million in surrounding Arab
countries could return. Their return would lessen the
enormous burden on their infrastructure and economies
that they have been experiencing. 😬😬 we Americans
know what it is like to have the burden of “non citizens “.
A different approach is way overdue.
A lot of ugly in that region since 1948.
A lot of ugly that most Americans are
unaware of, or has been covered up.

This is just one example of the mass killing…..
of Palestinian civilians that happened in 1948.
Have you ever read the book “Blood Brothers” by Elias Chacour? It certainly shines a light on what really happened in 1948.
Sweat labor? The concept is not new..Habitat for Humanity, for one…but I saw it in housing projects in Venezuela many decades ago.
There was also a group, started by Joseph Blatchford (later.became Peace Corps Director:) called Accion en Venezuela. Volunteers worked (and lived)primarily in slums attempting to teach the concept of working together for community development. (That’s when I first learned what Venn Circles are…they were called “spheres of influence”). But, one of the basic rules of that effort…you do not give away ANYTHING (even a pencil) free. ..what you get free you do not value. Those 2 basic concepts…spheres of influence (later used by me in capital fund raising for a non-profit hospital) and the value idea have stayed with me and served me well for many years.
If this is in fact true, Turning over the MOAB Munition with the destructive capacity of a 10KT nuclear weapon to the Netanyahu Government for potential use against Palestinian Arabs effectively guarantees a regional war that unites all of the Islamic States against Israel and the United States.
Washington is not merely enabling mass murder with this weapon, Washington is now incriminating the American People as mass murderers.
It also seems certain that most of the world’s nations not just Russia and China will aid the Islamic States in their determination to defeat Israel.
This is the path to Armageddon.

Obama Judge Blocks Trump Administration’s Freeze on Federal Funding
In a sweeping decision, a federal judge has blocked the Trump administration from freezing any federal funding, dealing a significant legal blow to the White House’s efforts to withhold funds that are suspected of waste, fraud, and abuse of taxpayer money.
Alot of grift being protected. This is a showndown if people actually have the vote. Or electring presidency is just a charade. Pam Bondi what are you gonna do?
Ok now there has to be drastic measures taken or this will just run off the rails and over a cliff as judges try and succeed in ruling from the bench.
None of this is unexpected but the actions planned for need to start coming from the Trump legal team pretty soon and they had better be extremely clever and well thought out. I have a feeling he and his team are being cautious because they know what the media and Democrats will scream if he ignores a judge’s ruling. We all know what they will do. It will be very interesting to see how he and his team maneuver through this legal attack.
Party’s over folks. The real grind of war is beginning.
I didn’t vote for any of those judges SPIT!
The Big Ugly has begun.
He has absolutely no authority to do this. Let the chips roll.
Open a RICO investigation and start with this sleezeball judge who wants taxpayer money to continue to flow to crooks.
Since this post, it has been disclosed this judge is a mega donor to the Democrats….supposedly huge numbers. What a surprise.
Another judge with delusions of grandeur.
Must be some way to stop/penalize these clowns.
Impeach this judge.
So, he is going to arrest the President of the United States of America for defying his absurd and unconstitutional order?
Supreme Court needs to step in and stop these lefty judges from doing this crap.
This has gone from absurd to down right worse than the banana republic we had for four years with FJB. It is as if these judges have never read the Constitution.
WTH do these judges think they are?
I agree the Supreme Court needs to step in immediately and knock theses judges down a peg or two.
Wonder what Pam Bondi has to say about this.
Well, ,let’s give her a chance! I’m confident she and her team will have plenty to say!
So what happens when it is proven that 75% of the funds have been fraudulent to tens of thousands of fraudulent organization stealing from We the People? Will this judge be “arrested” for aiding and abetting criminals, obstruction of Justice, violation of his constitutional oath, or perhaps violating Color of Law statute?
***********
Color of Law Statute
The term “color of law” refers to an act done under the appearance of legal authorization, even if the act is not lawful. It applies when a person is acting under real or apparent government authority. In the United States Code, the term “color of law” describes and defines an action that has either a “mere semblance of legal right”, or the “pretense of right”, or the “appearance of right”, which adjusts and colors the law to the circumstance, whilst the apparently legal action is itself illegal.
The deprivation of rights under color of law is a federal criminal offense which occurs when any person, under color of any law, statute, ordinance, regulation, or custom, willfully subjects any person on any U.S. territory or possession to the deprivation of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured or protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States.
The FBI is the primary federal agency responsible for investigating possible violations of federal civil rights statutes, including color of law abuses by public officials.

Encouraging signs that Trump won’t abandon Ukraine
[…]Kellogg’s daughter is Meaghan Mobbs, president of the R.T. Weatherman Foundation and a graduate of West Point.
[…]The R.T. Weatherman Foundation has been present in Ukraine since the start of the war.
Its efforts include establishing and running a logistics hub on the Romania-Ukraine border and delivering more than 10,000 pallets of medicines, medical supplies and other aid to over 70 aid organizations and hospitals in Ukraine.
[…]the foundation helps evacuate American volunteer soldiers fighting in Ukraine to the U.S. military’s Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, where they can receive specialized medical care.
It also repatriates the bodies of American volunteers killed in combat.
[…]The R.T. Weatherman Foundation also coordinated and sponsored a trip Kellogg took to Ukraine in January 2023.
The following month, Kellogg testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee, declaring: “It is no mystery why this war happened. The Russian dictator, Vladimir Putin, has always resented the American victory in the Cold War, and has spoken openly of his desire to reverse it. …
[…]At the beginning of the month, Mobbs tweeted:
“One of the new great falsehoods being pushed by bad actors is there is nothing worth fighting and dying for. Peace at all costs isn’t peace, it’s surrender disguised as virtue. True peace requires strength, sacrifice, and the willingness to defend what is right — even when it costs.”

2023:More Than a Million Americans “Missing” as US Endures a Crisis of Early Death
If the United States of America had the same mortality rates as other wealthy countries, more than 1 million people would have avoided death in 2021, a new study found.
Researchers have termed these excess deaths the Missing Americans.“The number of Missing Americans in recent years is unprecedented in modern times,” says Boston University epidemiologist Jacob Bor.
“Think of people you know who have passed away before reaching age 65. Statistically, half of them would still be alive if the US had the mortality rates of our peers. The US is experiencing a crisis of early death that is unique among wealthy nations.”
While the COVID-19 pandemic created a global spike in mortality, the US’s increase was even more severe when compared to other wealthy nations, including Canada, Australia, and the UK. It’s also failing to recover in the same way as other Western countries. The new study reveals this mortality trend had already been increasing during the preceding four
decades.

Several more judges issuing TROs this morning. I do hope that President Trump’s legal team anticipated the reciprocal flood the zone using lawfare from the Dems.
Perhaps they should have a standardized filing against the TROs stating all of the Constitutional rights of the Executive Branch and the President in one big list. Also state in the list, if applicable, that perhaps, these judges have no jurisdiction over the Cabinet and Executive Decisions as to the makeup of the Executive departmental and fiscal decisions.
Not being a lawyer, this comment is only coming from a layperson’s perspective.
If the Dems flood the courts, flood them right back with alternative legal approaches. Immediately appeal to the supreme court for relief.
It’s really too bad, we have people policing these threads for any perceived variation from the permissible narrative.
They remind me of this audience:

People. Breathe. President Trump is kicking ass and taking names.
We’ll see what happens. 🙂
If it has not become obvious…the primary path being used by the democrats and lawfare legal entities is the US 1st District. The 1st Distirct Circuit is overrun with Biden and Obama appointees … top to bottom, thank Mitch McConnell and use of the 1st District allows Chief Justice Roberts maneuver room to assist the lawfare effort form “a position of neutrality”.
File suit in the lower tiers of the US 1st District Courts
Force the process to go through the entire 1st District because president Trump’s team will loose every step of the of the way.
Avoid using the DC District unless it is absolutely necessary to keep Chief Justice Roberts out of the line of fire until the case hits the Supreme Court. Chief Justice Roberts can then help slow role the cases coming through the 1st District by forcing “President Trump’s Team to seek every remedy first”, which is Justice Roberts’ favorite line and legal tactic..Roberts will refuse fast track and may even refuse to hear motions to combine cases as they all revolve around Separation of Powers and The Authority of the Office of the President v/v the Executive Branch…until all the remedies in all the cases have been exhausted.
Justice Kenaji Brown Jackson is the Supervisor of the 1st District … she will side with the 1st District and force a hearing to decide if the case merits being brought before the Supreme Court … requires 4 of 9 Justices to agree to hear the case.
Then The Justice Roberts Court will take up the issue.
If the DC District is use … the fast track to the Supreme Court occurs because Chief Justice Roberts is the supervisor of the DC Circuit and he also get tarred in the unconstitutional lawfare being conducted … for appearances sake … Roberts has to look neutral.
The 9th District is available to do the same thing, if a second front is needed…the Oregon Judge stopping President Trump’s immigration EO.
Note on the 9th Circuit:
Supervising Justice: Justice Elena Kegan (she will support the 9th Circuit).
The 9th Circuit was lawfare’s District of choice for all things Immigration 2017-2020, so expect the same this time as well.
The 9th is also where Eric Holder likes to roost as the State of CA and other’s in the 9th District have retained his services to help combat President Trump. During the period 2017-2020, Holder and Obama made the rounds of 9th Circuit Judges having “lunch discussions”.
This is the reason..President Trump needs to continue to act in the face of the unconstitutional rulings involving the Constitution defined and granted authority of the President over the Executive Branch of Government. The ruling by the Roberts’ court set the precedent supporting president trump’s authority, which allows him to ignore these rulings.
The immigration cases, unfortunately, are different as the issues there revolve around “questions” of rights. these may be more difficult to handle. Although, it seems the one avenue NOT being addressed by the Government is the fact the Government is enforcing law supported by prior Supreme Court precedents.

IRS agents to the border!
BREAKING: The Trump admin is seeking to deputize IRS agents to carry out illegal immigration enforcement with ICE in the U.S. interior. In a letter to Treasury Sec. Scott Bessent, DHS Sec. @KristiNoem writes that IRS agents are needed to assist w/ apprehension & removal of illegal aliens. A senior DHS official tells me they expect the request to be granted.
It reads in part:
“It is DHS’s understanding that the Department of the Treasury has qualified law enforcement personnel available to assist with immigration enforcement, especially in light of recent increases to the Internal Revenue Service’s work force and budget. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), a DHS component, has the following needs…”
And:
“This letter requests that you make qualified officials from the Department of the Treasury available to work with ICE and that you consent to those officials being deputized to perform immigration functions pursuant to 8 U.S.C. § 1103(a)(6).”
Well…🤔
The IRS has spent $35.2 million on guns, ammunition, and military-style equipment since 2006, including $10 million in weaponry and gear since 2020.
I’d like an audit of those items.
Put them to work stringing razor wire in NM and AZ 🙂
Threaten the illegals with audits and fines.
Just in case you don’t grow your own
DOGE uncovers $2.3m program training soldiers to avoid hurting feelings and ‘speak and act in a DEI friendly’ way.
Literature produced by the Air Force to tout the program note how soldiers who participate in the program are venturing into a ‘brave space’, ‘but know they are safe’.
Will these safe and brave spaces in the military be identified to the enemy on the battlefield to avoid hurt feelings?

“JUST IN – Trump says he doesn’t view JD Vance as his successor in 2028: ‘No, but he’s very capable’”
Must be Vivek.
What it really means is that PT has read Sundance’s points on Vance and will proceed with caution.
Must be me, but that’s a lousy answer. PDJT should do better by his VP, especially in public.
Veep needs to earn his own stripes. I hope TRUMP wins 2028!
Huntington Beach City Attorney Michael Gates appointed as DOJ Deputy Assistant to Civil Rights division.
