We really are a varied (can’t bring myself to write diverse!) group in this Treehouse. It was 87 here yesterday afternoon, rumored to be 84 by this afternoon. I’m enjoying it while I can, because it won’t last. In fact, one of the dangers is that some of our fruit trees will bud early and another freeze will ensue. It happens to our apricots sometimes. But…….must enjoy the bounty as it occurs. And, yes there is an aura of optimism since November 5th!
I have an Aunt that lives in Phoenix so we always make it down to visit so as to soak up some natural vitamin D 🇺🇸🤠🇺🇸

Have you ever tried Lee and Perrin’s Worcestershire sauce on Mac and Cheese? It’s very good IMO.
I often add some cooked minced beef too, and extra cheddar cheese.
English people sometimes add a little of their hot mustard powder when making Mac and Cheese, which you can buy as a powder ( you just add a little water to some mustard powder on a saucer or in small container) to make a little sauce for your roast beef, or buy it as a liquid in tiny jars.
You add a pinch or two of the Mustard powder and stir it in when you are close to finishing . I don’t see why you couldn’t use the liquid version, and it is very hot mustard so use sparingly to your own taste.
I don’t know if you can get English mustard there. Two brands mostly used, Keen’s and Colman’s. They are very similar but we prefer Colman’s.

No disrespect intended. I know that is the modern view of Jesus. “Reigning in our hearts, but not in the world?” But the historic Protestant view is different than that. Ours is a victorious King. Our eschatology, is an eschatology, of victory.
Jesus is King of kings, right? Is He? But not now? What is a King without a Kingdom?
What did the Pharisees say? “We have no king, but Caesar.” What do we say? We have a king, but not yet?
What sayest, our King?
18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in Heaven and on Earth has been given to – Me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 8:18-20
As the head of His church, Christ sends us as the embassy of the Kingdom of God to extend His Kingdom into all the world. I also believe Christ is ruling and reigning over all the nations.
He has bound the strong man (the devil) Matthew 12:29, so now the focus is not simply on one covenanted nation, Israel, but on bringing in God’s covenant people from every tribe and nation. The King of kings, Jesus, is ruling and reigning through every nation.
There is much more that could be said, but for now, I’ll say that He is ruling and reigning not only as Creator and Redeemer in and through his Church, but He is reigning as Sustainer by His providence. If anyone has ever driven in a major city during rush hour and not seen many multi-vehicle accidents every mile, and not conclude a Higer Power was at work, they are spiritually blind.
He is upholding all things by the word of His power. Heb. 1:3 He is causing all things to work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28 He is ordaining that the rain falls on the just and the unjust Matthew 5:45, which we call common grace.
Those are all ways to see Christ ruling and reigning. You could go even further and mention His intercessory work, but I would look at these things to see Christ is King, now, and as the Gospel goes to every nation, tongue and tribe, “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field 32 It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.” Matthew 13:31-32
His Kingdom on Earth has been growing on Earth ever since Jesus returned from the grave, alive, and then told His eleven Disciples, that “All authority in Heaven and on Earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and [conquer the world].” That is happening just as He said. In closing just turn to 1 Corinthians 15:26-27
25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death.
In writing those words to the Church in Corinth, Paul was quoting from the most often quoted Old Testament verse in the New Testament, Psalm 110:1
The Lord says to my Lord:
“Sit at my right hand,
until I make your enemies your footstool.”
That verse indicates that Jesus is not coming back until all His enemies are placed under His feet. I was once His enemy, but by His power, I am now His son. Jesus had earlier also quoted that verse when confronting the Pharisees, in Matthew 22:41-46
41 Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question,
43 He said to them, “How is it then that David, in the Spirit, calls him Lord, saying,
44 “‘The Lord said to my Lord,
“Sit at my right hand,
until I put all your enemies under your feet”’?
45 If then David calls him Lord, how is he his son?”
46 And no one was able to answer him a word, nor from that day did anyone dare to ask him any more questions.
Now, those of you who are still reading, go to the next chapter in Matthew, chapter 23 and tell me who you think is King. Then, Now and Forever, “not now, but not yet!”
How would you answer Jesus, Christian? Is Jesus Lord of all, even over those proud, ruthless, and stiff-necked Pharisees, who did the devils work by putting Jesus to death. Or just the Lord of our sweet little hearts? What sayest ye?
Let us declare Jesus King now, and watch the demons scatter. We are already seeing their foundations shaking, as only those things which cannot be shaken, will remain. Heb. 12:27

Modern view? Try Biblical view.
What you described in that jumble is the old, discredited non-literal amillennial view of Scripture, the view commonly held by the ‘kingdom now!’ Christendom crowd.
Such so-called ‘eschatology’ cannot distinguish the present from the future, or the past from the future, but only sees a flattened two-dimensional, Israel-free ‘eschatology,’ which is in fact no Biblical eschatology at all.

A better way of saying “the modern view” I was speaking about should’ve been “the popular view.” Sorry, I was rushed.
The popular view is the one that says Jesus is king, just not yet. But that He is coming back any day now to rescue us from that mean serpent. I disagree on both of those parts.
The traditional Protestant view is that He is King now. And He won’t come back any day now, because the most often quoted Old Testament verse in the New Testament, Psalm 110:1 says “He will be seated next to God The Father, and remain seated there until all His enemies have been placed under His feet.” Look around; all His enemies are not yet under His feet. That’s our job to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth and to disciple the nations. It’s called the Great Commission. We believe in the Greatness of the Great Commision. Then, Jesus will return to destroy the last enemy, “death.” I quoted those verses. Take your time and explain to me where I’m wrong, but be sure to use the Bible in your critique.
Maybe you missed that part. I quoted many verses in the points I was making but you didn’t give me any proof text, even though your criticism was that my “modern view” comment should have been a “Biblical view.” Mine were Biblical.
In my Matthew 28 passage that you must have missed as well, Jesus says “all authority is Mine in Heaven and on Earth.” That’s not a future fulfillment. It’s a done deal.
Now I’m not a genius, I’m sure you’ll agree, but to me when the Creator of the Universe says “all authority is Mine in Heaven and on Earth,” I think I’m going to lift up His name on Earth while I still have time. He is my King, and everyone now still has an opportunity to recognize that and bend their knee to Him, lest He be angry and they too shall perish. It’s the only way we win down here. Doing what were told to do. And believing it.
Do you have any problem with that WP? Psalm 2 says for “the kings of the earth and princes, together must Kiss the Son, or perish.”
Indeed you were right to say that “the Evil One has the whole world under his sway,” but greater is He that is in Me, than he that is in the world.” And Jesus said, “I have already overcome the world.”
Even as the evil one has many in this world duped, he is a defeated foe on borrowed time. It’s our job, yours and mine, to tell the world the same message the early disciples were telling their neighbors and friends, that there’s another King, and His name is Jesus.
That’s the message in the Book of Acts that turned the world upside down. That’s the Jesus that I worship. That’s the message the world needs to hear.

Interesting that this is a late 40’s production. In a more modern movie version, Joseph Cotton would rescue the girl and bring her to America. Not here, however. Excellent, complicated movie which I have seen half a dozen times – always noting something new. It is one that surely requires close attention, but well worth it.
And, I agree with Patience about the music – the whole package seems ahead of its time.
This time around I found myself paying closer attention to how the closeup camera angles highlighted the character’s facial features. Subtle but very effective.
Like the ‘ The Maltese Falcon and ‘Casablanca’ they are timeless Classics.

Just had the dogs out for their midnight bathroom break. While they were busy doing their business out front I walked around the corner of the house to check on my bird feeders and There was Momma possum with two youngsters feeding on the seed under the feeders. She was looking at me. I left them alone. Never had any problem with possums damaging my property. The dogs leads are not long enough for them to see around the corner.
Think I’ll put a couple corn cobs on the ground for them tomorrow.

A long time ago the pesky coons attempted a takeover of the neighborhood. Started out by eating all the cat food I put out for a couple of outside cats. Ended up with them knocking over trash cans almost every night. Which left my wife upset picking up trash every day.
I borrowed a cage trap, used some ears of corn, and relocated nine of the furry little bandits, some of them not so little, in two or three weeks. The bigger ones were not so cute and meaner than sin.
My next door neighbor saw me one day with the trap and a coon and asked how many that made. I told him. He said “I’ve got some friends with several thousand dollar coon dogs that have not gotten nine coons so far”. I said “get a cage trap and some corn and you’re good to go”.
The coons got better homes, the cats got to eat their food, my wife didn’t have to pick up trash, and it all worked out.
Oh, I did catch a possum overnight once, but let it go.
Had a coon pet for a bit, we all got bit.
Had this awesome dog named Randel, he was barking and running all over the yard one night. I went out and he had this coon skinned cap on, except it wasn’t a cap, it was a huge boar coon.
Randel was a surgical tactician, he could dismantle any threat in seconds, anything.
He was running up and down the fence line and dragging this coon on the fence until he let go. Then as it ran he would try to bite it except it would spin and latch on again. Coons get by water and drown dogs this way, smart critters.
I watched for a bit to see if Randel could figure it out but eventually I shot the coon.
All cute and fuzzy, but keep them away from your home, they are mean and carry rabies. “If” they get access to your house, attic, screen opening, doggie door, they will destroy everything. Did I mention rabies? Kids and rabies, bad issue.

A few years back, we had an infestation of rock squirrels. Unlike tree squirrels, these tenacious destructive little critters live underground. They ate the underlayment of our tile roof ($12,000 to fix!) ate the wiring in our vehicles, even got into the house!
One day, I awoke to a racket in the bathroom 3 of them had fallen into the toilet – the stuff of horror movies! Fished ’em out and rehomed them at a rivers edge out in the boonies. After that we live trapped 37 – all of whom wound up at the Santa Cruz River squirel resort and spa!
I’m pretty coon proof. Been feeding bids for years. Can is heavy with wheels and they can’t get in it. Squirrel feeders on shepherd hoods have squirrel baffles.
Most close up video of the midair collision that I have found. I still think this stinks to high heaven.
A direct hit. Intentional. After all, there has to be a reason they didn’t ID the female pilot until her social media was completely scrubbed clean…

This is a hard to watch film that not many were able to stay to the end. But seeing is beliving.

Unfortunately today 7 soldiers were shot and two of them badly wounded. Prayers for the soldiers.

We played at the Paramount Theatre, a restored art deco theatre built in 1931 for the “talkies”.
A boy from the ROTC was working the small cannon nearby on the stage. It does make a difference, but he blew a hole in the expensive new move screen!
Our marching band also played some of Bolero as part of a half- time show for the state competition.
My, both songs bringing back memories from decades ago!

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
