What exactly does “Social aide at the Biden White House” mean? They not only scrubbed her Social Media accounts, they also scrubbed her family’s Social Media accounts. What are they ALL hiding??

First of all the chain of command failed this crew.
A new pilot with 450 hours flight time should not have been in that flight environment period. And under goggles!! Accident looking for a place to happen.

Disagree. If she can pass a pilot in command course and it’s check rides, then she can fly there, particularly with an IP. If she was 200’ above a hard ceiling, she wasn’t capable of passing PC check rides.
She was a frigging newbie. 450 flight hours is basically flight school and Blackhawk transitions hours.
Plus 2 years as social officer. There is no damn way she was qualified.
That is incorrect. 200 hours gets through flight school and a transition.
I guarantee you that flying in that environments isn’t as hectic as ingress and egress to a battle position or LZ in the dark. As hint, I’ve done all of that, including IERW.
Yeah I know a little about that myself. Ex Night Stalker. I have been in the worst positions imaginable.
I am speaking from my experience as a crew chief of MH-60 and DAP 60. I have quite a few hours myself, mostly goggles. I know what it is like.

And I’ve noticed the reports have changed wrt to her flight time.
Originally reported as 500 hours, it’s now being cited as 450.
Given what we already know about her special status and the lengths to which they’ve already gone to hide, scrub and manage her identity and back story, I think it’s only prudent to question whether that 450 figure is even true.

Some years ago, a Navy friend of mine, supply corps officer (not an aviator!), got a 2-year stint as a WH escort. At the time he was a LT or LCDR (I don’t recall, probably LT). He attended WH events and “escorted” unaccompanied female dignitaries. But it was all very staid and proper. And also his full-time thing, not a side gig.

No! My daughter was offered the White House position after graduation from the Naval Academy and two years on a frigate. I wanted her to take it but she went to Norfolk and Portsmouth instead. A very big career mistake!!!
She needed a few hundred hours in a Piper Cub before graduating to a helicopter. You don’t start out being a helicopter pilot first. You have to qualify with a single engine fixed wing first.

Do not take me disagreeing with you personally. I have flown for years with the best RW pilots in the world.
Especially my father in law who retired with 32 years of flying in the Army. He turned down CW5 rank when it first came out. He is also the man that was instrumental in me going to Aviation Accident Investigation School at Ft Rucker many years ago.
What I see just from what has been released so far is enough to make my skin crawl.
My opinion is that aircraft should not have left the ground that night.
What I learned many moons ago is, Takeoff is optional and Landing is Mandatory.

That runway is the busiest in the United States with 800+ takeoffs and landings a day. There is no justification for a military helicopter flying into the path of commercial airlines landing zone at night when they have thousands of square miles to practice “whatever” and not interfere with civilian passenger traffic.
The Los Angeles Fire Department requires pilot applicants to have 4,000 hours helicopter flight time just to apply for the job. I think 450 is a clearly a novice and the results the other night prove it!
Why would she not have been flying out of Belvoir for that 2 years? She had to in order to maintain night currency.

I believe pilots must be trained to the best standards possible. What I am saying is this not a combat mission that must launch to save lives. I am saying it should not have launched to save lives.

Agreed does that include putting loaded civilian air planes at risk HINT: NO. Fire fighters will set abandoned buildings on fire to train firefighters. Firefighters do not set occupied hotels on fire to train. This is stupid at the most fundamental level.

Why not store the helicopters close to the destination so they don’t have to play bumper cars with passenger jets trying to land at a busy airport?
Difficult environments do not include the nighttime landing runway of commercial passenger jets!

The senior officer would have been in command. He had at least a 1000 hours from what I have been able to read.

Seriously, 450 hours flight time barely covers pilot school in the military. Remember, before getting into a helicopter they learn to fly fixed wing aircraft.
Assuming the average sortie is 2-hours that means 225 flights. That is a lot of flights. I don’t buy she didn’t have enough flight time to be current. The issue is was she proficient?
The greatest issue I see is having a designated flight path through the approach end of a busy airport. This is an administrative issue as well as “probable cause”.
Half of those flights are in a Piper Cub. They don’t start out flying a helicopter.
Too many things wrong with this terrible accident. I agree, 450 pilot hours is not very much. Just think the instructor pilot only had 1,000 hours again not very much. Instructor pilots should have over 5,000 hours. The Army is moving these young pilots out of the service early so that creates a need for new pilots. He has two air medals for valor and along with his Apache time he has Black Chinook with 160th Night Stalkers for a total in the 20,000 pilot hours range. The Army is not doing it’s pilots any favors by pushing them out of service as Captains or CW3. A CW 2 is not good enough for instructor. Do we know who was actually flying that helicopter when it crashed? Who had their hands on the wheel so to speak? You have a pilot and a co-pilot, either of whom can fly the craft from their seat. Is there a way of telling who was actually “driving”?

Agree 100%. So many things here are just hanging loose ends: “privacy” to a person that caused scores of deaths, 3 days go by before pilot is identified, all social media of pilot and family scrubbed, embargo on virtually any info re: the incident.
It’s very frustrating, especially for those here (me)who spend hours a day flitting about various sites trying to glean information.
Because of all these factors, I have zero doubt that when the complete story is out it will not be favorable to DEI hirings, the Army, and the family. PJDT was right. The truth will out eventually.
If, and its a big one, there are DEI or transition type issues going on, there are very strong and ‘protective’ issues for the ‘patient’ in terms of “privacy”…HIPPA.
I think it’s quite obvious at this point what this woman has been doing for the past two years. And what this entire catastrophic incident exposes and represents.
The woman was almost certainly insufficiently qualified to safely handle that particular training assignment, at that location, at that time.
For the past two years, she was too busy playing White House charades and … I’ll leave it at that. With that hour count, flying complex military aircraft was her side gig.
She had no business whatsoever being anywhere near Reagan, the busiest commercial runway in the Nation, after dark, so soon after being tossed from the WH playground.
The only consolation that can be found in any of this tragedy is that she didn’t collide with a larger passenger airliner. That is no solace whatsoever to the 66 families instantly destroyed by this rank, hubris assignment.
That Army Battalion, and the entire chain of command allowing this assignment (which probably reached well above full bird), and the subsequent cover up/scrubbing under the ruse of “family wishes”, needs to face a court martial.
This was a politically driven assignment, to accommodate a political personage and group, made at the expense of safety and readiness, that blew up.
There is massive progressive activism and DEI thoroughly infesting many of our institutions. The partisan and ideological driven rot has fully compromised the effective operation of many complex, and vital, systems and organizations.
This is only the latest catastrophic result.
It’s too late for surgical personnel solutions. This now requires mass purges and wholesale line changes, as we saw with the FBI on Friday.

I’m not sure it even really matters. Her “instructor” co-pilot barely had 1,000 hours under his belt.
I’ve represented commercial airline pilots in unrelated matters, but enough to understand their profession and the industry. The older ones were true professionals I would trust my life with. Historically, most used to be retired Air Force or Navy, who after putting in their 15-20 years on the Government dime, and accumulating tens of thousands of air hours, would go over to the commercial sector to go make the retirement money and put their kids though better colleges.
So most were older hands, with many tens of thousands of flying hours the norm. I do acknowledge that is not the norm today. But the standards shouldn’t have fallen THIS far.
I really don’t know who and what they are putting in commercial cockpits these days. The computers are doing more and more of the flying now, I’m told. And that is not necessarily good.
But under four figures of flying time is barely competent to fly in my book for any serious aircraft, from the people I’ve dealt with. Maybe a Piper or little Beech in a rural area. But not a military BH around Reagan at night.
And military craft are generally more complex than the commercial ones, or so I’ve been told.
The former are equipped with weapons and other combat-related systems that the Boeings and MDs aren’t burdened with, and the cockpits typically aren’t the “lounges” that the ones in the big commercial airliners are.
And this aircraft was ordered to fly in about the most congested airspace in the country. At night.
Insane.
So I find this entire incident completely appalling as the details emerge.

I think you are correct, and I also think that this whole thing isn’t truly a matter of DEI, because I doubt this woman was where she was because of her sex.

I think the DEI=DIE issue applies because of the ATC shortage. One person was in the tower doing the work of two people at one of the busiest airports in the world. Why? Because DEI policies insisted they not hire qualified white guys. Since 2014, 1,000 qualified potential ATC applicants were turned away. There is a massive shortage of ATC workers.
There is now a lawsuit pertaining to this. A white guy started the class action lawsuit against, I think FAA but not certain. He scored 100% on the test and had all of the qualifiers and was turned away because of discriminatory practices against white guys.
I wonder if they use h1bs for these positions as well?

I have always marveled at the incredible connection and similarities that can exist between a grandparent and a grandchild. In some cases like carbon copies. To answer your question, yes, President Trump is now our C-in-C, and he is also the nation’s top law dog. So I think he’ll be doing some serious butt kicking going forward.

Learning for American students grinds to a crawl or a complete halt as all educational resources, time and attention are diverted to accommodating illegals.

Three months after the U.S. Department of the Treasury sanctioned a Chinese mafia leader for fentanyl trafficking, he received an award in Beijing.
In March 2021, the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) Overseas United Working Committee recognized Wan Kuok Koi, also known as “Broken Tooth,” as a “patriotic businessman” and the “chief representative” of all international Hongmen associations. The awarding entity is a CCP United Front organization and a platform under the China Association for Science and Technology. Drug users in counseling here in Florida are terrified to use most black market drugs these days going back to 2021.
The Fentanyl Boogerman has all but destroyed the bootleg pharmaceutical trade Florida made famous in the late 90s. No one trusts the pills, those that did ain’t around anymore.

While the MAGA world celebrates all this winning, I am hoping that someone within his circle is looking at the 2026 and 2028 elections. Seats to turn, seats to be taken back, MAGA candidates to support (in lieu of RINOs), and election laws. That the DOJ retracted the case against Virginia for taking illegals off it voting rolls means the road is clear for other states to follow. That’s just a start. I think the President knows he cannot afford to lose the House, as has been the custom in off-year elections, and the Senate needs more Republicans. Instead of ‘two-steps forward, one-step back,’ let’s just keep going forward.
Absolutely. We would have huge majority in Congress had we cleaned up the voter rolls in 2020. We didn’t and we stand to lose everything if we don’t get going right now and save 2026.

Plus incumbents are difficult to dislodge (especially when ones like Castro in Texas run opposed). We need a comprehensive strategy and real project management skills in the RNC. Not sure we’ve ever had that in my lifetime. We need to end open primaries (not happening in Texas); motor-voter laws; leverage the work of Judicial Watch etc. to sue to clean the voter roles (Dems will fight); enforce voter id; and have the RNC fund the right candidates (not Murkowski types). Time is of the essence.
Personally, I believe “2028 and Forward” are the Strategic Objectives of all President Trump is working to achieve…President Trump’s strategy has been clear from the start.
The results of the 2026 Mid- Terms are critical intermediate Operational Objectives to achieving the 2028 Objective…to leave a supportive Congressional Base for 2028.

Impacts of MAGA Policies, to widen the VOTER Base.
Find the a successor to endorse in 2028 (Currently, JD Vance, Krisit Noem, and Little Marco are the contenders).

To think a simple paraphrasing of this article by Sundance discussing the Tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China Inc. , on the 6pm and 10pm “news”, is all that is needed to explain to the la la land inhabitants they reach. It was tragic – comedy to listen to the “news” yesterday and last night as all the usual suspect “news readers – on air” and the “self styled experts” were warning HIGHER PRICES coming tomorrow … meanwhile at the gas pump and grocery store check out counter we still pay for JoeBama’s 100% inflation. Also, those news stories “READ by the TALKING HEADS” left off the reason for the tariffs as well.
By the way, in line with this article one of the “experts interviewed” said prescription drug prices are going up because of this. Canada, the Philippines and China inc. are the largest producers and exporters of knock off drugs and generics that include fentanyl and the new killer on the block ketamine.
The un-inspected packages are the primary means for delivery of the drugs…next logical question and place for investigators to look … think ALL those “low priced mail” delivery drug plans we have here in the US that use Amazon, Alibaba, USPS, Fed Ex, UPS, et al on the end of the pipeline here in the US un-inspected (de minimus protected) packages … especially MEDICARE and MEDICAID plans …. Canada, China and others are just the source end that puts stuff in the hands of INTERNATIONAL US Shippers and DRUG PLAN AGENTS here in the US …. think of what DOGE found yesterday at the US TREASURY Department where MEDICARE and MEDICAID Expenses were BLINDLY APPROVED by the Under Secretary who JUST RESIGNED.

The lunacy of the “protected packages” reminds me of the lunacy practiced by the EEC (European Economic Community) when I was a Cavalry Troop Commander, in the old days , on the East German Border and during REFORGER exercises.

I think Occam’s razor would point to incompetence more than martyrdom…if the pilot was in that seat only because of her gender, rather than her qualifications, then she very well might have been unable to handle all of the info, the noise, the lights coming at her and she went up instead of down when ATC told her there was a plane coming in to land on 33.
The extraordinary push across the military, law enforcement, fire departments, airlines, etc for “30 by 30” (Pushing for 30% of the workforce to be female by 2030) has been a total disaster and it is quite possible that 67 people are now dead because someone was given a position they were not ready to handle simply because they fit a category that needed to be represented!
I have many family members who are first responders so I am speaking from personal experience when I say that there absolutely ARE qualified females, as well as unqualified males, in all of these professions. The issue that needs to be addressed and rectified, immediately, is that it must be QUALIFICATIONS alone that determine who gets the job!
“30 by 30” – it’s wild. I’m in an industry where there’s a big push for that, I’ve been hearing our employees talking about this for a couple years but I thought it was urban myth respective to us. Then I found out we have some subtle branding on our website that indicates we’re a 30 by 30 participant and it all makes sense why we’re hiring people who can’t do the job, looking the other way, pushing them through pass-fail training and then trying to prop them up by having everyone else work harder. It’s not safe.

And at the end of the day, that should be the ONLY consideration, especially for jobs that involve the safety and security of the general public!

I have a friend who is a real aviation buff, and she flies a small plane.
Although she’d be an excellent candidate to pilot a commercial airliner, she has never expressed any interest at all in doing that.
I want people who are most qualified for the job. PERIOD!

My 6’2 200lb firefighter husband worked with a couple of women who could, and would, pull him out of a building if it was needed. He also worked with a couple of men who were 150lb soaking wet, but had great computer/logistical skills…nice guys, but I hated it when he was on shift with them and was so thankful when they were transferred to training/administrative positions!
The black box will have all of of the moves the pilot made on the controls. If that’s what happened, it would be hard to cover it up.

Please. Please. Please. “Still in flight training.” As a former Army helicopter pilot, I will tell you that you are always in training. You train for the mission(s) anticipated, your train constantly to maintain proficiency (flight, emergencies, gunnery, IFR, night, vision goggles and/or FLIR (Apaches). If you fly in a foreign country there are usually local requirements that have to be trained for. There are always a handful of Instructor Pilots in every unit who are there as crewmembers, trainers, and examiners. All pilots in flying billets are required to train and to stand an annual oral exam and a flight checkride. She was a very young captain, 500 flight hours at that point in her career is not unusual. Commissioned aviation officers are required to go through their respective branch basic course and the flight school. For her to be pulled to do a non-aviation assignment is not unusual. I read, I believe, that she was a pilot-in-command, which indicates she’s no slacker. Crews are assembled so that less experienced pilots are paired with more experienced pilots. That’s how it’s done. (Caveat: Or used to be. I have been out of the game for a long while.)
A two year hiatus to go frolic at the White House as a “social aide” was extremely detrimental here. Flying a combat helicopter was not her day job for at least two years.
I’ll bet you she was doing absolute bare minimum hours to keep status. Aviation had become a side gig to the WH frolic party.
And then she had to leave the WH last month.
I’ve been led to understand that helicopter aviators still have to initially train on FW aircraft. So we don’t have a clear picture of how many hours she actually had on a BH.
Even if the full 450 was with a BH, that is inadequate, after a two year frolic doing bare minimum, to be ordered to fly near Reagan, at night, two weeks after losing a WH social aide stint.
This was a set of obviously politicized orders that turned into a midair collision, and a massive loss of life.

Reagan has 800 take-off and landing a day. The AA pilot was in the landing zone and preparing to land. Didn’t he have enough on his plate instead of trying to dodge a military helicopter flying over the airport at night.

Not when your job is to SAFELY fly DVs across the busiest runway in the United States at night.
You have to TRAIN for that kind of thing, and you can’t train for that by tooling around in empty airspace with no other traffic.
Bigger question: why wasn’t this pilot focused on learning her craft rather than going to social functions?
Why not train near a military airport?
In these days of highly capable, immersive, accurate and stressful flight simulators … the live training flight excuse does not work anymore.
Exactly, you can fly the exact pattern in night vision goggles somewhere else. Review and say look: you didn’t keep the helo below the ceiling and could’ve killed people.
A few firefighters were killed in Denver. A drill was created to mimic the circumstances for “training”. I never liked it because the training props weren’t realistic and don’t think it was really that helpful. I knew many people who hurt themselves doing the drill – the adrenaline of a real life emergency wasn’t there.
I had the pleasure of attending a two or three week “flight sim” course for the Aviation Curious. Former Israeli Air Force and commercial pilot had a small shop with a FULL 737 cockpit… seats, panels, displays, readouts, levers, switches… the whole thing… all hooked up to three or four PCs with 180 degree visuals. Even without the floor moving, you felt like you were moving. He said that commercial pilots would come in during down time for training or to stay fresh, and he’d dial up some stress scenarios to make them sweat…
So DOD helicopters must plan Russian Roulette with civilian planes to get training ???
No, but it’s not that simple.
They need to be trained by attentive instructors to strictly follow the procedures that are designed to provide positive separation.
If the participants in this accident were following the published procedure, we wouldn’t even be having this conversation. It’s not intended to be Russian Roulette, and if the procedures are followed, (to include proper ATC phraseology) it’s not.
The procedures are specifically designed to address the hazards and mitigate the risk.
Pilots follow deconfliction plans like this all over the world, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, often for much more mundane purposes than practicing to safely transport DVs. The vast majority of these operations are carried out safely.
Is it safe to fly two aircraft 10 feet apart at 300 mph? Just asking, because military pilots do that all the time IN TRAINING to learn how to air refuel. Without these skills, they would be unable to execute the real world missions assigned to them. US airspace is full of air refueling tracks, many over populated areas.

Agree. You train for the mission. You are evaluated on your ability to accomplish the mission. And if she was a pilot-in-command, then she has to know how to fly in this airspace. This was a terrible, terrible tragedy. Flying is not without risks, unfortunately. Let the Army and the NTSB do their investigations, and, hopefully, their findings will be shared with the public.

Joking aside chihuahuas can be used as search and rescue dogs. Their small size allows them to fit in tight places where bigger dogs may not be able to reach and sniff out survivors in ruble.

I had a dog acquaintance who passed away at home and the police had been called for a wellness check and subsequently it turned in to a death investigation….and animal control plus our dog club got involved, (as the dogs would have been slated to go back to the original breeder on the passing of the owner)….anyway…
The lady owned 2 Chihuahuas and two Dobermans….the animal control people were called for the the Chihuahuas… kid you not…they were viscous little critters….and protecting their owner…The Dobermans were fine… saying trying to get control lof those little yappers…was a fluster cluck!!!….it all turned out well, after a lengthy negotiation with treats…
No humans were harmed in this event.

Helicopters should not be allowed near Reagan National at night. This is a very busy airport. I see DOD has now prohibited military helicopters from operating in close proximity to the airport. There is no reason to allow such a collision risk.
I am angry that these risks have been created to train for “continuity of government.”
It is obvious the peasants surviving a disaster is a much lower priority than the arrogant elites being rescued to continue their tyranny, unscathed.
Americans have survived for more than 200 years in spite of fears by tyrants for “continuity of government.”
We need to force the priority to be “continuity of liberty” for the people.

FEMA employees filled luxury hotels on Maui following the disastrous Lahaina fire. How did all that waste of money help the people?
It is obvious all of these emergency management agencies are top heavy. There are too many chiefs in command posts and not enough workers breaking a sweat and getting their hands dirty helping victims.

Hogg is being described in the press reports as a survivor of the Parkland school shooting. If I recall correctly there were about 20 fatalities and about the same number of victims who received gunshot wounds , but recovered. Enrollment at the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School was in excess of 3, ooo students without regard to faculty and administrative staff.
Hogg was not among the wounded. It does not appear that he managed to survive a close encounter with the shooter or escaped harm due to some initiative on his part.
Perhaps he should be described as 1 of over 3,000 survivors of the Parkland event. If he enjoys some qualification or distinction because he was on the campus at that time some 3,000 others should as well.

Schumer’s comments were so over the top that even Nancy Pelosi criticized what he said. So did Chief Justice Roberts. Schumer attempted to walk them back claiming his “Brooklyn” roots got the best of him.
Keep in mind—AG Garland and FBI director Chris Wray often warned that threats against public officials would be prosecuted to the fullest extent of federal law. Funny how they ignored this.
