Solution to economic problem is well known and simple (the politics is not). There are timing lag issues from implementation until results are observed (the pain).

1. Stop digging a hole – cut spending
2. Increase the size of the GDP pie from which debt can be repaid
3. Deregulate to stimulate growth in GDP
4. Reduce tax burden with its perverted incentives in order to stimulate GDP.
All of these can be seen in play the last week which is the starting point. The timing lags are real and will cause pain as the giant spender USG pulls back before GDP can expand.
An upside from drop in USG spending, thus debt demand, may reduce interest rates and stimulate new business development. Also it would reduce the interest of USG further reducing spending.

Today the scale of problem is much larger.
1980’s Debt to GDP was 50 – today 120.
The magic is to best match the reduction in spending with the expansion of a larger GDP pie, an impossible task so there will be surprises.

One major one is that the Real President has already stated that he wants interest rates lowered prior to the next fed meeting. He knows that the high interest rates are part and parcel of the plan by the rulers to keep us down.
Lower the interest rates, lower the cost of servicing the debt that past idiots ran up. Get that nut reduced and it frees up space to deal with cutting other costs and growing other revenue.
We have a crowding out issue where large demand for debt by USG resulting from a massive increase in spending pressures interest rates higher.
The FED & US Treasury have been manipulating the market to minimize this increase. Thus price discovery is seriously distorted resulting in many poor investment decisions.
Cut spending and opposite will happen and make loans available for new business development.

I wrote this on the other Columbia thread, but I saw a CBS News game report during the Chiefs/Bills game.
The two teleprompter readers reported the collapse by Columbia. There was no put down or snarky Leftist editorializing or moralizing.
They looked shell shocked. It was beautiful.
I saw that as well. I was almost going to mute the TV so that I did not have to listen to their opinions/lies and, to my surprise they just said the facts. It was stunning.

They clearly do not know, or PRETEND not to know that tariffs are a negotiating tool. Often they don’t get enacted. When they DO get enacted, economic forces usually create an alternative.
In 2016 after the election, many proposed Tariffs were announced. Within weeks, both LG and Samsung announced moving washing machine production to the US to avoid tariffs from South Korea. They built factories in Tennessee, and South Carolina. Now knowing that Mexico is facing tariffs, they are moving dryer production to the US from Mexico.
During the Trump 45 administration, additional tariffs were levied on China. At that time I was a buyer for one of the largest retailers in the US. Some vendors moved production to the US where that was feasible. In some cases, they moved production out of China to another country; Vietnam as one example. In other cases, they LOWERED the price of the goods to offset the tariff. And finally, in a handful of cases, we accepted the increase or changed vendors who were more competitive.
When you consider that record low inflation, the reality is that overall, prices did not increase significantly. The result of the tariffs was driving different behavior from the countries that were tariffed.
This is how it actually works folks.

To fully understand just how remarkable todays exchange with Colombia was, you need to understand how Washington DC has traditionally worked through these sorts of issues and the way it works now, under Trump.
I’ll illustrate.
TRADITIONAL APPROACH:
1. Colombia announced it will not take our repatriation flights.
2. On Monday, the State Department convened an interagency task force with DoD, NSC, DEA, INS, ICE, Commerce, Treasury and Homeland Security.
3. The task force meets for four days and develops a position paper.
4. The position paper is rejected by the Secretary of State, who is unhappy that insufficient equity considerations are built into the process.
5. The task force reconvenes a week later to redevelop three new, equity-centric courses of action and create s new position paper.
6. The process is delayed a week because Washington DC gets three inches of snow.
7. SecState approves the new position paper for interagency circulation, and considerable input is received from the heads of other departments so the task force must reconvene.
8. The original three proposed responsive courses are scrapped in favor of a new, fourth course of action that achieves the worst aspects of the three prior courses of action but satisfie the interagency.
9. Someone in State who disagrees leaks to the Washington Post, who writes a story about how ineffective the Presidential Administration is.
10. The White House Chief of Staff sets up a session three days later to brief the President, who approves the new fourth course of action.
11. Over a month after the issue is first raised, The State Department Public Affaurs Officer holds a press conference announcing that Colombia has agreed to send fewer criminals into the US and everyone declares victory.
TRUMP APPROACH:
1. Colombia announces it will not take our repatriation flights.
2. After a Par-5 third hole where he goes one under par, Trump uses his iPhone to post on Truth Social as to how he will destroy Colombia’s economy if they do not take back their criminals.
3. By the time Trump gets To the Par-4 sixth hole, Colombia’s President has agreed to repatriate all the illegal Colombians in his own plane, which he will personally pay for.
4. Trump finishes three under par and goes to the clubhouse for a Diet Coke where he posts a gangsta AI image of himself and the new FAFO Doctrine on Truth Social.
5. WINNING

That means fellow Marxist Nations; Cuba, Venezuela, Columbia, Nicaragua, Brazil, Mexico and some of the Caribbean islands are going to make some sort of futile gesture.
The interesting part may be these nations actually reach out to China Inc., which China Inc. may not want at this time.
