For the believer, the fear of God is something much different. The believer’s fear is reverence of God. Hebrews 12:28-29 is a good description of this: “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our ’God is a consuming fire.’” This reverence and awe are exactly what the fear of God means for Christians. This is the motivating factor for us to surrender to the Creator of the Universe.
Proverbs 1:7 declares, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge.” Until we understand who God is and develop a reverential fear of Him, we cannot have true wisdom. True wisdom comes only from understanding who God is and that He is holy, just, and righteous. Deuteronomy 10:12, 20-21 records, “And now, O Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Fear the LORD your God and serve him. Hold fast to him and take your oaths in his name. He is your praise; he is your God, who performed for you those great and awesome wonders you saw with your own eyes.” The fear of God is the basis for our walking in His ways, serving Him, and, yes, loving Him.

Our Maine Coon, Harold, has his own seat at the dining room table where he very respectfully waits for us to hand over some of our vittles. He will take his one claw and tap, tap, tap the table when he’s finished one bite and is ready for another. Move too slowly and he tilts his head at you, like “what gives?” His favorites are beef and seafood. I try to give peas once in a while, but he is much too smart for that.
So we got into bagpipes because of the pipers at the indoor parade in the arena, and I mentioned discovering this fellow when I was in Sicily, an Asturian, a Celtic group in Spain, he developed an electronic bagpipe, and could really rock it. Heard the song on the radio but couldn’t catch the name, finally saw it on a video, this video, actually, and a buddy and I tracked down a shop selling them in Catania; been a favorite ever since.
Oh, the guy is a master bagpiper, and of other wind instruments, including the low-whistle in this song, but with an electronic bagpipe one needn’t worry about inconvenient piper-down incidents, no air required. Tres cool, I have all his stuff.
If you like it as much as I do, you’ll appreciate this extended version, but no hot chicks on this one.

Good morning all.
The first day of rounding up those who have invaded our country. And who knows what other surprises the Donald may have for us today. I would not be surprised if some major economic initiative or development were announced today or before the end of the week. When he talked about making our economy great again I could not shake the feeling that there is somethings already brewing or about to happen that he was holding close to his chest last night.
The first couple’s stamina was a sight to see yesterday. Imagine how the 1st lady was feeling in those 3″ spike heels after all those hours! I really did not care for the hat though. Her taste is usually impeccable but not this time IMO. But what the hell does an old truck driver know about that kind of stuff?
I really enjoyed the speech as Trump verbally tore Biden’s head off and shit down his neck in front of the whole country as Joe and Jill sat there just 8 ft. away. I thought I could hear the wacko leftists screaming, wailing, crying, and assault their television sets as he did so. And I KNOW I saw Bill Clinton smile a couple times. And anyone that thinks what I’ve written is harsh or crass, just remember it is coming from one of us millions that are “garbage people”, according to the that last occupant of the WH.
I found that I wanted the “reporters” to STFU when the president was signing the executive orders in the Oval Office because I wanted to hear a little more about the details of the orders themselves and a fair number of their questions were stupid since the POTUS had just been sworn in and others were the usual BS that any idiot would know that a cogent POTUS would not answer because he would not want to tip his hand. But anyway it was a stark contrast after seeing hidin Biden for the last 4 years. And those orders are posted here this morning anyway. Thanks Sundance! Anyway the whole thing made it quite clear that Daddy is home and he’s pissed and means business. And that pardons or no pardons, extensive efforts will be made to shine a light on the terrible criminal behavior of many of those guilty of crimes against this country and it’s peoples over the last 6 years or so.
It is up to us to bring what pressure we can to bear to force any senators that are thinking about playing games with the confirmation of members of Team Trump.
I Loved every minute of the whole thing from the very beginning till the signing of the executive orders in the Oval Office. But once that was done, I was done, and drifted off to sleep to have some very pleasant dreams. Trump may have not been worn out, but I was.
Oh, and BTW, to hell with it. I’m leaving my colors up at full mast. I don’t hate Carter like I do Biden, but he still sucked as a POTUS and did immense damage to the country. His gas lines came when I was in my hot rod years. I lived and saw as a soldier first hand how Reagan rebuilt the post Vietnam war military that I had entered that Carter had neglected.
Mr. Carter did not do this country any favors. As president he was an abject failure.
Carter was basically a decent man but not the brightest bulb in the drawer. He was Peter Principled into the White House, seen (mistakenly) as an antidote to Nixon.
Carters mismanagement was so bad it made Reagan’s campaign the near-perfect opportunity for the lofty-speaking good natured movie star-turned-governor. It would be Californias last heyday with prosperity under Republican leadership.

I watched the Inauguration at length. I must say that I was very impressed and happy for you.
Trump also later had two women survivors (released hostages) and families of hostages on stage. He admitted that he doesn’t know if all the Phases of the deal will happen. He talked about peace.
I was touched by the Inauguration and I thought his speech was outstanding.
I was also impressed of how much American culture is close to Israel.

This is the first of what will be many attempts to ignore reality and try to stall the world’s unstoppable and irreversible move to a clean energy economy. But these proclamations are not reflective of our political and economic reality. These efforts to roll back progress – particularly the hugely popular clean energy investments in the Inflation Reduction Act – will be met with opposition from both political parties.
That’s why, in the coming weeks, months, and years, climate leaders and activists must not be deterred or distracted. From extreme weather disasters like Hurricane Helene and the still burning Los Angeles wildfires, to the growing number of climate refugees, to competitiveness in the global economy, the climate crisis will have profound consequences for the United States over the next four years.
If the new Administration won’t lead on this issue, it is up to all of us. Now is the time for Governors, Mayors, business leaders, investors, and activists to put their heads down and do the work that will advance the climate solutions our nation and the world so urgently need. PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

After a harrowing day we feel drained

My opinion on renaming the Gulf of Mexico The Gulf of America.
If one thinks about it in the context of continents instead of countries is makes a lot of sense. All of the countries that border that body of water are part of the North American Continent. There are three countries in the North America Continent. Canada, the United States, and Mexico. The United States of Mexico are the only countries that border the Gulf. The Gulf ends and the Caribbean begins at the Yucatan channel.

Not quite as cold here as some of the models were showing. 1 deg. F when I got up at 07:50 but with windchill felt like -10 F according to my home weather station. Going to go out and fill the feeders and take the trash out to the road. Other than that my only other task for the day is changing the whole house water filter element. Not going anywhere today. Chicken Alfredo over fettuccine with spinach mixed in is dinner tonight. I’ll pretty much finish off that loaf of excellent homemade sour dough bread with it.
Snow on the ground in Florida so we have snow cover in 49 states. However the webcams at Mauna Kia show no snow on the ground and the weather station data indicates that the air is too dry, though as I write this it is 27 deg. F at the summit, so it’s cold enough.
