The U.S. Constitution does not stipulate that a president-to-be place his or her hand on a Bible when taking the Oath, because each president who recites this oath or affirmation is “bound” by the words themselves, per Article VI. The same article also says that “no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.”
Trump’s best line:
“I was saved by God, to make America great again.”
This was the opening shot.
With all of those pardons, civilian remedies are effectively off the table. Military courts for charges of treason are all that left. I do not believe any pardon for civilian crimes circumvent treason.
ALSO, Mary McCord’s pardon is limited to the actions of the January 6th conspiracy. Mary McCord’s crimes FAR predate any of that. There’s still plenty of civilian charges to hit her with and most certainly military ones.

I don’t see how McCord can’t be charged with her crimes unless a statue of limitations can be applied but maybe Congress can create a “prosecutorial holiday law” as they did in New York? (Yeah, a joke… any such law is actually unconstitutional)

President Trump gave an incredible speech. He went right to the heart of matters, and made some serious eye contacts to emphasize certain points.
The man means business.
I had wondered why Melania wore such a demur outfit compared to her eye-catching statement outfit in the prior inauguration. I think she was encouraged to minimizing her profile as an assassination target. Mrs. Usha Vance looked beautiful in pink.
I thought her outfit today was very elegant. I wasn’t fond of the hat, though. It hid her beautiful face. Plus, when Pres. Trump arrived in the Capitol rotunda, the brim of the hat prevented him from giving her a kiss. Having said that, the Ralph Lauren outfit in 2017 was in a class by itself.
I think her hat was intended to help protect from some of the evil in the room. All she had to do was tip her head downward a bit to avert the gaze of one of the many demons in the room trying to look into her eyes.
Melania is making women’s hats great again.
That hat was there in case it was needed to throw like a frisbee at any evil doers in the room. Those edges were razor sharp..

It was an elegant outfit – as my wife says, “she makes anything she wears look good.”

Not so ‘Dr’ Jill Biden – the hat also was probably meant to keep ‘huggers’ away – but, noooo – Mrs Biden just ‘had’ to push herself into Melania’s personal space for a silly hug while at Marine One.
Well, class was never a priority with the bidens.

I think this time around Melania isn’t there to be seen but her power. Like her husband, she intends to get things done.

I thought that was great. The tailored dark suit, the hat with a brim pulled down low so as not to see her face/eyes.

Its strange. I looked at many pics and vids. None show our First lady’s full face. Her hat is always pulled down to completely cover her eyes and upper head.
Assassination threat? Body double? The suit she was wearing could easily conceal full body armor including the hat. Never stood and applauded. She seemed nervous. It was not like Melania at all.
I’ve been told by one who watches fashion that lately Melania has been in a black/white and navy/white color cycle.
Same person in family says, “I_just_do_not know why no earrings!”
I responded, “Huh?”
Further, “And she could have lifted the hat a bit for us to see her eyes.”

I would describe it as kick-ass & take names. It was, in some ways, comparable to the punishment of several centuries ago when miscreants were placed in stocks for public humiliation and casual corporal punishment. Crooked Joe and Kamala were humilitated. Fitting.

I was disappointed that Trumps hand was not on the bible. He gave an awesome speech, but the only downer for me, was his hand not on the bible.
Don’t worry. God’s hand was on his shoulder. That counts for much more.
That was Chief Justice Roberts’ fault. He jumped into the oath before Trump was ready.
Roberts screwed up the Oath before. Back when Roberts swore-in Obama in 2009 he gave Obama words in the wrong order. Obama said them in the wrong order. So Obama had to re-do the Oath afterwards in private to check all the boxes.
According to FOX, Klobuchar’s speech was too long. Then, they had to rush it. Roberts started quickly to get Trump sworn in by 12:01 pm which is in the Constitution and followed. Trump’s family was not even in place yet.
Not his fault.
SC Chief Justice Roberts showed his lack of situational awareness – class – and character – by not giving Melania (with the bibles) and the family, time to assemble. Would 15 seconds have hurt??
Roberts tried to ruin the supreme moment that DJT has worked so very very hard for, these past incredible 4 years.

If this happens and is not overturned in our courts, it will mark one of my biggest wishes come true in the world of politics. The 14th amendment was for slaves and specifically not pertaining to any foreign non citizens who happen to give birth on our soil. The children are under their parent’s jurisdiction and are not adults. Their citizenship is what their parent’s citizenship is. I will be ecstatic if the real meaning of the 14 amendment is preserved.

Trump already did a follow-up speech in another hall of the Capitol right after he sent off Biden on the helicopter. It’s in the livestream.
That second speech is a good one, much more personal, done in Trump’s free-flowing style not telepromptered. The audience were all loyal MAGA supporters who didn’t fit into the crowded Rotunda.
At this second speech he explained why he had to remove some stuff out of the formal speech he had just given, like the J6 hostages, like the border wall, like Biden’s last-minute blanket pardons.
Rest assured Trump is very determined to correct the wrongs of the J6 persecutions.
Also nothing about Making America Healthy Again.

The First Lady’s hat concealed her eyes. If you go back and look at her facial expressions while seated at Carter’s funeral, her eyes are definitely windows to the soul. The expression on her face is one of utter contempt for those seated nearby. Just thinking, on this occasion, she might have thought it best to conceal the contempt.
