Apparently, Steve Bannon was talking to media in Italy and said some rather confrontational things about Elon Musk.

Spend some time listening to Bannon’s Warroom podcast. He is pro-MAGA, is definitely is on board with Trump’ agenda and has his back. One can disagree with Pres. I got rid of cable and only watch streaming TV. Steve Bannon, like him or not, is a brilliant patriot. His knowledge of history, finance and politics is far beyond that of any one I can think of.

They were major influencers for all four years of Biden’s presidency. They kept putting MAGA in the spotlight and pushing people to do the hard work of changing politics in their home towns. They kept Trump on the ballot in all 50 states. They organized a Republican Get Out the Vote. They explained all Trump’s legal issues pro and con at length. They publicized the fate of the J6ers. Bannon was a YUGE vote getter for Trump years before Musk hit the stage. Did Musk’s support help? Absolutely, him opening Twitter and him helping with funding were major boosts to Trump’s campaign. To be honest, Trump’s campaign would have been quite different had he not had the support of both of these men.
That said, as a retired software engineer, the H1B Visas have been abused for decades. There is no justification for it. Americans are under-represented in Silicon Valley. It’s the same deal as bringing in Haitians to undercut meat packing wages – it’s just the other end of the employment spectrum. I have worked with software programmers from China, Japan, Australia, Canada, Czechoslovakia and Viet Nam. The brightest by far was an American with Scottish heritage and the least capable was the one from Viet Nam.
I think we were greatly encouraged by Bannon and Kirk did deliver with registrations. It is not easy to wake up millions of people from a pleasant nightmare. Did you ever think MAGA and RFK would join up? I didn’t.

I’ve listened to War Room for about three years. I have never once perceived any part of the program as a continuing emergency broadcast. While I don’t always like Bannon’s style, I get it and can tolerate it. Alex Jones has a style I just can’t take on a regular basis.
The one thing Bannon has consistently been on fire about is how dangerous – a national security issue – to each one of us the national debt and the profligate spending/printing money is. I have a comprehension of economic matters I did not previously possess because of the guests he has on and the consistency of the output.

*Example of a tidbit I heard today on War Room: if an employee looks at the federal tax withholding amount on their pay stub, they should know that over half of that withheld tax is going to servicing the national debt. Musk pissed a lot of people off with his “F yourself in the face” comment toward MAGA supporters who support eliminating H1B visas, and his pledge to go to total war with us. 71 million American citizens responded “Bring it!” and Musk immediately backed down.
Musk was a latecomer to the Trump train and in many of our opinions has yet to fully prove his commitment to our cause. His intemperate comments didn’t help him any, and many think they betrayed his true intentions. On the other hand, Bannon has been on board since the start and is very loyal to and protective of President Trump.

I was personally screwed out of tons of money, and a tech career future (forcibly retired early at age 59), due to the H1B charade. I have great friends who are or were foreign nationals, who are/were the best of the best technically. They were 1 in 1000. So, I clearly have a dog in this hunt.
Second, I don’t trust Musk any further than Steve Bannon can throw him. I very much like, and agree with much of what Steve promotes.

I can second your experience in the tech sector. Trump has steadily supported merit based immigration. We all know this, and all agree that H1B and the outsourcing of contract engineering to basically 3rd world levels is calamity. It’s no different than what happened to television manufacturing.
Trump wants the talent and the work done here. It may prove out that the abuse of the H1B system and outsourced contracting will combine with Trump’s goals and create a 2 plus 2 equals 10 disaster.

Musk has cozied up to every President and it has been very fruitful for him. Tesla and SpaceX are heavily subsidized by the government. He needs Trump more than Trump needs him and Bannon doesn’t like the unAmerican way he talks and walks. His puppet strings go all the way to China.
Musk was very critical of the US Space Program and used the African connection to Obama to glean all the government nuggets and win all the contracts. Musk said the US program lacked ingenuity and had accomplished little since the Apollo program.
And Vivek trashed our culture.
The US space program was a disaster before SpaceX – the US had to pay Russia to put people into space on soviet-era Russian rockets. SpaceX did not win all the contracts, despite having by far the lowest cost to get to space, because NASA was protecting its old contractors. Just look at Boeing to see how that worked out. Right now, SpaceX gives the US full spectrum dominance in space – with more launch capacity than all the other players put together. Once the big rocket is operational, it will leave everybody else in the dust. And then there’s Starlink & Starshield, which is of critical military value. This is probably the only reason that Elon is not in jail/dead.
And then there’s Tesla – the car company with the highest US content, and the only competitive electric car company outside China. And, of course, the minor thing called X, which blew apart the social media censorship regime and just built the biggest supercomputer in the world. Oh, and one more thing – he is also the leader in robotics, which may end up being bigger than the car industry. Elon is now going after Keir Starmer, who is busy jailing political dissenters while letting criminals free.
I watched Bannon for years, and he gets most things right, but he also was against Elon mainly because of the CCP (Miles Guo was Bannon’s backer), but doesn’t always have all the facts straight. Yes, Elon has to be very careful in his dealings with the CCP, but he has the only major corporation operating a 100% fully owned subsidiary in China, and is the market leader there. That’s how he was able to be competitive with the Chinese car companies, and is now building out production in Texas and has been working hard for years to build out the EV supply chain outside China.
So would you prefer if Elon had gone elsewhere rather than choose to do all that in the US?

As somebody who’s followed both Bannon and Elon for years, I think both are being a bit too emotional about this. Like them or hate them Trump and MAGA need both of them, and Bannon should realise that the enemy sees Elon as the biggest threat. Your first and last sentence basically contradict each other. Perhaps you need to give this matter some additional thought?
While you are at it, you might want to consider two more things:
1) If the US falls behind in tech, it really doesn’t matter what you vote for, because other nations will have the capability to impose their will militarily, and they will decide what the future looks like.
2) If you are concerned about the danger posed by certain technologies, are you better able to control them if the US is leading, or if they are being developed on “some other continent”?
I have my concerns about some of the technologies coming down the pike, but humanity is better served if the one pushing them is Elon Musk, under the jurisdiction of a Trump administration. And yes, having Bannon with a big megaphone to call them out when required would also help.
But a circular firing squad before Trump has even taken office is not going to help.

Except this time Trump is undermining his own MAGA agenda by not coming out against Musk and the visa program. Trump was against the visas in 2016, and if Musk can hire immigrant engineers over similarly qualified American engineers then it calls into question the MAGA agenda especially since Trump ran to bring jobs back to middle class America.
I think he fell off he wagon AGAIN. I have no use for this man who refuses rehab. Amazed at how many to his drivel which to me is all lust for power. TRUMP CHOSE ELON and others for his team, to sit there and act like you are more important than TRUMP is really shocking for me to listen to.

And when Musk made his statement about HS1B visas, Trump could have nipped it in the bud by coming out against him since this immediately called in to question his MAGA agenda.
Trump picks people from the high tech industry with questionable backgrounds to run a sophisticated surveillance system. Instead Trump could have come out defending the Constitution and the 4th Amendment and stating there will be no renewal of 702 authorizations without a complete reform of the system.I mean of all people Trump has experienced the worst of the abuses.
Why doesn’t Trump actually call into question the power of the NSA and the CIA? It’s not just FBI that threatens Americans 4th Amendment.
I always wonder about folks who will blindly follow someone without question even when his actions are called into question and doubts creep in about his agenda.
Trump may not have taken the oath yet, but all these actions by him say a lot about his plans and it’s perfectly okay for people who voted for him to question what the hell is going on?
Musk has a very sketchy background. The thought just occurred to me – I had read the story of DJT’s uncle John Trump who had been given access to Nikola Tesla’s notes – interesting that Musk, seemingly an admirer and an ‘intellectual descendant’ of Tesla, and Trump are so closely linked these days. Full disclosure: I do not trust Musk and I think he is a CIA front same as Zuckerberg and other boy-wonders. I am very uneasy about DJT’s association with Musk, to the point where I would start to distrust Trump if it continued beyond the current DOGE assignment.
If Musk is a CIA front, how do you explain his companies’ technical accomplishments?
If you know any engineers, perhaps you can ask them to explain to you what makes Elon’s companies the #1 place that young engineers want to work at.

I was open to whatever Musk was doing until the time he walked out on stage with the dark MAGA hat and yelled, “I’m not MAGA. I’m DARK MAGA”.

Steve Bannon has, with minimal effort, COMPLETELY discredited himself. SO many metaphors available to describe his blunder. Compare the accomplishments and intellectual capacity of the two. Bannon really defecated in his mess kit this time.

Elon Musk, in order to accomplish the many great things he as accomplished, has bee required to do the bidding of the Deep State. I don’t think anyone who understands things as they are today could disagree whether or not they are +/-/0 on Musk.
This is the sort of thing that could absolutely be “the way in” they need to try to take Trump down from the inside.
I see Musk as many ways as I possibly can at the moment just to try to keep a clear head. When people describe him as evil, never ONCE do I hear an example of evil to base the claim. Not saying it doesn’t exist but it’s not anything that has caught my attention. Lots of really smart people say Musk isn’t to be trusted and yet no one seems to be able to base that on anything that could change the public mind.
I’m going to say it plainly, my mind is EASY to change. Show me direct EVIL from Musk and I’m on board. His position on H1B gets pretty close to that but we know know if Musk is abusing that system or using it legally and properly. As far as I know he’s not running a massive software programming farm or anything that comes to mind when we think H1B abuse. He uses real world scientists and engineers largely NOT from “the woke” sources. He cleaned out Twitter firing most of the BS from nearly day one.
He has the capacity of great evil. Anyone with power and influence does.
