My daughter goes to school in Calgary. They dramatically cut the number of student visas last year for each province. My feeling at the time was that the communists in Ottawa were approaching lunacy levels of mass migration and the collapse of their government (which might still happen next month), and had to start clipping the number of student visas.
The neighboring college to the one my daughter attends is vastly nonwhite, non-Canadian. It’s shocking how few actual Canadians you see on that other campus.
It’s likely a much worse problem than they’re admitting.

I invited you to a public debate about your claims as I’ve been fighting this insinuation of inferior American values in STEM for 35 years or more.
A point about the c-word: culture. My son applied (against my wishes) to the University of Colorado, Boulder for his aerospace engineering degree. He had a 1500+ SAT, 5’s on his AP tests including calculus and Physics, completed both the Math and Reading programs in Kumon, played violin, snowboards, and is hard worker with a nearly full time job in the food service industry while achieving academic excellence…everything you would want in an engineering student.
They sent him a “you’re accepted!” letter which – upon reading the fine print – indicated that he had been admitted to CU but not to the Aerospace Engineering program. It was actually a cruel letter because he was very excited and they got his hopes up. The letter was written in such a way that I had to read it three times before their slippery language became clear. He was not “accepted”, not really. His good friend got the same letter. Another white male with exceptional academic credentials and his dad taught the AP physics curriculum at the school. (I taught math and physics elsewhere at the time.)
One of his classmates, a nonwhite female of south Asian ancestry, who was a student of mine at the time, got accepted into that very program. And I know for a fact – her mom told me – that her SAT and AP scores were disappointing and that she was a career B student.
Now, I don’t much care in the sense that I didn’t want my son living in the People’s Republic of Boulder, and I opposed his application. But I can state from first-hand experience as a parent that white males are actively discriminated against by academia.

The Founding Fathers worked 80+ hours a week (as stated in the podcast through tweets responding to PBD’s tweet we don’t actually “know” that) to fight against the British tyranny and found this great nation. PDJT work’s 80+ hours a week. Elon Mush works 80+ hours a week. It takes 80+ hours a week in work ethic to build/grow a company: you simply can’t do it with a M to F 9 to 5 mentality, period.

Idk about others, but I habitually glance at the price of everything that goes in my cart. Although I don’t consciously calculate it as I go, my kids would often ask me to guess the total on reaching the checkout. They were always amused that I could glance at the cart & guesstimate within $10 what the final total would be. 🤩
One thing I am reminded of is how the same grocery chain has different prices on their products depending on the location of the store, even in the same city. Lower income neighborhoods vs. higher income neighborhoods….
I once heard a man say that he didn’t shop at our local grocery chain around the first of the month. Some people avoided it because they didn’t want to be in the store on “Welfare Day”, because of the crowds.
He said that the store, which had naturally fluctuating prices due to “specials”, had allover higher prices at the beginning of the month.
I never checked it out to see whether it was so.

I don’t know about the grocery stores but will watch for it. I don’t go to the bank around the first of the month because the lines are too long.
People no longer receive their grocery food stamps on the first day of the month. It is now spread over the month much like how social security. It might be based upon the number of the day you were born (15th, 8th).
One time I made the mistake of going into a grocery store on the first of the month (when everyone got their payment) and it was frightening. I have never seen such a group of misfits and that is being kind.
Amazed at how often the person in front of me in line pays with a SNAP card. As I walk to my car, I routinely see them driving off in a better car than I have. The SNAP benefit process is broken and I hope DOGE can fix it.

DHS Announces H-1B Modernization Final Rule to Improve Program Integrity and Efficiency
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) today announced a final rule modernizes the H-1B program by streamlining the approval process, increasing its flexibility to better allow employers to retain talented workers, and improving the integrity and oversight of the program.
The H-1B nonimmigrant visa program allows U.S. employers to temporarily employ foreign workers in specialty occupations, defined by statute as occupations that require highly specialized knowledge and a bachelor’s or higher degree in the specific specialty, or its equivalent. The final rule aims to provide greater flexibilities for employers and workers by modernizing the definition and criteria for specialty occupation positions as well as for nonprofit and governmental research organizations that are exempt from the annual statutory limit on H-1B visas. These changes will help U.S. employers hire the employees they need to meet their business needs and remain competitive in the global marketplace.
The rule also extends certain flexibilities for students on an F-1 visa seeking to change their status to H-1B to avoid disruptions in lawful status and employment authorization. To improve program efficiency, the final rule will allow USCIS to more quickly process applications for most individuals who had previously been approved for an H-1B visa. It will also allow H-1B beneficiaries with a controlling interest in the petitioning organization to be eligible for H-1B status, subject to reasonable conditions.
….Today’s rule builds on a previous final rule, announced in January 2024, which has already dramatically improved the H-1B registration and selection process.

Read the plain language – it plainly states the intent is to INCREASE the number of ‘occupations’ which have NO CAP and to make it easier for foreign students to go to work here, as well as in general lower the requirements and push more applications through.

But, 2024 to me was a wonderful year.
My husband and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary, and we celebrated his 70th birthday — something he’s been looking forward to for many years.
We spent many months working with dear friends on their house, and learned from my Chinese sister-in-the-Lord that I need to slow down and rest more often. She told me that the Chinese word for BUSY is made up of two Chinese characters — dead and heart. I hold on to the good counsel of good Christ followers.
My very old aunt and uncle surprised us with a visit in October, one that shocked me (!) in a wonderful way.
Mostly it is in knowing that God has given our sin filled nation another chance to repent, by giving Donald Trump the victory in November, that I look upon 2024 we gladness.
I pray your 2025 is full of God’s greatest blessings, Betsy.

My eyes started burning when driving home the other day, in the suburbs outside DC. I told my wife about it when I got home. My eyes just started burning while driving in my car with the windows up. We’ve had some crazy heavy fog the last two weeks as well. The thickest I’d ever seen.
We had fog a few days ago and it wasn’t heavy but it wasn’t typical for December and I smelled a chemical, acrid smell.
Our weather in northern Minnesota usually heads to Toronto one or two days later.
