Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has faced the wrath of the professionally republican. The Bush clan together with Democrats in the Lone Star state tried to take Paxton out of Texas politics with a ridiculous impeachment effort; supported by many Texas politicians including Chip Roy. However, Paxton defeated the impeachment effort and is stronger than ever with the support of the base of the new republican party.
During a Q&A segment, Paxton was asked if he would present a primary challenge to Texas Senator John Cornyn. From his response in the segment below, it would appear that AG Paxton is favorable to doing it. WATCH:

Whoever President Trump endorses in that 2026 GOP primary, will be the next Senator from Texas. That reality is a strong point of leverage over Cornyn carried by President Trump for the next 18 months.

Would be big decider if enough voters now understand the uniparty decades old tactic. If they do, will be a good sign going forward. For years the voter understanding has been the general election. Hope enough understand we now have to back up one election to get rid of the first democrat.

Yes, per my previous comment if the TxGOP is run by the MAGA team, they could do just that. If it is in the Bushies hands, then Paxton would be better off working within the TxGOP to uncover and remove the remaining Bushies from the party.
At the state level, at this time, TXGOP is NOT in MAGA hands. Lots of MAGA at the grassroots level.
One of their favorite tactics is to load the primary with candidates. And please remember that many TX voters are not on X or websites like this one.
Paxton would have a chance. He might be the only one who could do it.
Well, it depends on who controls the Texas GOP. If it is in the Bushies hands, then this scenario would be correct, even though Chip Roy is a performance artist where he makes a lot of noise for the cameras, but doesn’t support the MAGA agenda behind closed doors. If the TGOP is more in the hands of the MAGA team, then there wouldn’t be a need for a runoff, just the highest vote-getter wins and moves onto the general election.
The idea of a “splitter” is to put up someone who would split the Maga votes, while no one is splitting the RINO votes.
Chip Roy would not be a viable splitter candidate, in my view as he is not MAGA.
They never bothered with a splitter candidate against Kari Lake, because her bono fides as THE MAGA candidate were too strong; I suspect Paxton is in the same category.
Still the RINOS control the Texas Republican Party, both the Executive Committee and leadership in the Legislature.
And of coarse the leadership in Congress would be lined up against Paxton, as well.
Open primaries don’t help either.

My state rep critter, Ellen Troxclair voted to impeach Paxton prior to any defense. I contacted her 3 times asking why she wouldn’t all him “due process.” Crickets. Her constituents are in the country. She’s a real estate broker in Austin. We are sadly still Bush country. At least the drunken Phelan is no longer speaker as they replace him with a clone.
TXGOP uses splitter candidates plural. Please see the 2022 gubernatorial race.
Kari is in a different state. They have different tactics. In TX, the grassroots is largely MAGA but the state level is still flush with hardcore GOPe. They wouldn’t just run someone like Roy. There will be 5, 6, 7 candidates all with various constituencies.

Chip Roy is one of the most conservative House members with a Conservative Review Liberty Score of 100%, or an “A” rating. Very rare in the RINO infested Republican Party. However, Roy is not “America First” or MAGA as he supported DeSantis in the primaries and does not support Ken Paxton, the “America First” Attorney General.

With Texas being an open primary state I’m just wondering how that
wouldwill play into the Republican primary… Mmmmm????Cases of strategic voting haven’t happened much in Texas primary elections. If there’s a runoff, you can’t cross party lines and vote in a runoff of the opposite party. You either don’t vote, or you vote in the party primary that you voted in to begin with.
However, Rush Limbaugh, in the 2008 presidential primary election wanted his listeners to participate in such a strategic voting campaign called Operation Chaos to damage the democrat party. Unfortunately, it wasn’t very successful.
Any registered voter in Texas can vote in the Republican runoff if that person voted in the Republican primary or did not vote at all.

It’s not the biggest problem we face in TX. The biggest problem is the state level GOPe itself. When we try to primary someone, they simply insure there are multiple candidates. It’s highly effective. Especially when they also have the power and will to make sure the one they want gets enough votes to stave off a run off.

This is the way. You have to attack McConnell direct. He controls the Senate Campaign Finance Committee money. He always buys his own Uniparty primary candidates, as he just did here in Michigan. And at the end of the general election campaign, he had spare cash to throw into his walking dead Michigan Uniparty boy, instead of throwing it into other valuable candidates he hates.
Attack McConnell direct. Bleed off his cash in a vicious primary campaign, cash which he’ll never spend for us anyway. Use Cornyn to slowly expose the Uniparty, starting January 20. All of this can occur low key for about 12 months, keeping The Boss distant publicly. If McConnell wants to go to the mattresses at that point, fair enough.

Yes Paxton is potentially a powerful ally to work with President Trump, but he should identify a qualified replacement before accepting a position in the 47th Presidents administration.
I agree, he is so important in the AG position. Here in El Paso, they put a curfew during Covid on us because the young people were meeting and having fun at night in the desert. 10PM to 5AM. He had to take it to several judges to get out of Democrat El Paso but he got it overturned. The democrats know he will go after them! That is so important to keeping our state conservative.

Our Tx House Rep – atty Morgan Meyer in Dallas is a weasel that voted to impeach Paxton, and supports democrats electing a ‘bi-partisan’ Tx House Speaker so the Bush/Cornyn RINOs can speed billions of our excessive property tax money and not advance any Conservative policies. They have been in control of Tx Legislature for 25 years w/o reform. Texas voters are just now…wondering Why? Cornyn is the penultimate Bush squish in Senate.

Yes, the current TX GOP State Chairman Abraham George supports closed primaries, as we voted at the Convention. Problem is that Voter Registration in Texas does not call for designation of party affiliation. So a change to closed primaries would require some action in state law and policy, not just Party rules. We’ll have to see how this can actually be implemented by 2026…

This a correct statement. Never thought about it this way but it is true! Now that I think about it, that might be why it disturbs me so much when he gets no push back.

Getting rid of Cornyn would be a good step. Getting rid of the Houston and Dallas Mayors would be a coup. Texas Repugs got real comfortable with the Bush family controlling the Party there. But the Bush family have always been at odds with Americans who love their freedom. Ron Paul was our leader back in the day. He spent his career trying to limit the size and scope of the Federal Government. A project his son tries to continue without much success. Texas has always been a political anomaly. They are very proud to claim they are conservative, but they had 100 years of Democrat domination until the mid 1960’s. It doesn’t surprise me that Texas has almost always elected squishy RINOs to the US Senate, to the point where the Demcommies think they can win the political war just by turning Texas into a Democrat bastion through illegal immigration.
