I know a very pleasant lady from Mexico who came here & stayed decades ago. She had a son born here.
She never applied for citizenship, twice blanket amnesty has been offered.
For years she worked cleaning a church, paid under the table because she had no papers. Drove a car, no drivers license. Son attended school, no documents.
When she wanted to retire…a social security number was provided to her and she worked at a company for three years, complaining about having to pay taxes on the money she worked for.
She is now retired and living comfortably without worry of being sent back.
Cesar Chavez was against illegal immigration. It hindered his attempts to unionize farm workers. The DOJ attempted to get the Border Patrol to arrest Commuter Aliens, lawfully present. The BP refused.
The DOJ was assisting Union organizing Activities by claiming the lawful admitted (permanent resident) Commuter Aliens were strike breakers. It was illegal to import temporary (visitor) labor for purposes of crossing a picket line.
The Bracero program was good. It fell victim to the temporary political interest of both the Union and the Growers. The Growers didn’t like Bracero because it held them accountable to federal labor standards. Illegal Alien labor was exploitable in ways Braceros were not. Now they just offshore the whole operation to Mexico and South America and import it duty free. I have had California growers tell me they no longer plan to grow any labor-intensive crops to avoid the whole mess.

At what point does it become highway robbery? I remember school teachers complaining they were “without a contract” for years; but secretly they preferred it that way, knowing the concessions expected at the bargaining table next time around. Fully funded healthcare premiums was a priority.
I also know people in the trade unions who won’t pick up a banana peel on the floor unless it is specifically written into their contract. Companies have gone out of business due to greedy unions.

The base has been working hard to build up the republican brand in order to get President Trump over the finish line. One tool used was to show the dishonesty of the democrat party for covering up FJB’s mental condition and now it comes out that the republican party was doing a very similar thing with this republican.
How can the republican party morally separate themselves from the democrat party when they get caught doing very similar things? The answer is that they can’t, for there is no morality within the uni-party.
Kay Granger announced in late October 2023 that she would not run for re-election in 2024. That was in time for other candidates to gear up for the primary. The Republican candidate won in the general we just had. By the time she quit working, it probably was too late to hold a special election to replace her.
She resigned from her top position as chair of the House Appropriations committee and handed those duties over to Tom Cole on April 10th of this year. Her vote was not needed in committee because the Republicans hold a 5-seat majority on Appropriations.
She has been missing vote after vote, but I cannot think of any legislation that might have changed whether or not she voted.
The place where it mattered whether her name was on the door in congress was the matter of holding the speakership for a Republican. Congressman after congressman announced their departures to the point that the Republican majority was in danger. Surely anyone in frequent face-to-face contact with her who would have wanted to see the gavel flip must have wanted to see her resign.
If she had quit last December, maybe she could have been replaced if a special election for that seat could have been held concurrent with the primary. I don’t know the technicalities. There was nothing to gain by having her resign when she left her post.

Ok guys, my mother was a German girl in “Poland” where Hitler first “invaded” in 1939.
Her family were German farmers along with at least 7 million others in the territory. The land there is quite fertile (like Ukraine, not so far away) and had been German land for hundreds of years(since Frederick the Great).
So, it was coveted land.
This territory was given to Poland by the elites in The Versaille Treaty after WWI. Eventually, the Poles got tired of not owning the German farms they were promised and in 1939 “Bromberg Bloody Sunday” happened.
Polish communists brutally murdered German farmers and their familes in a one day purge (6,000 or so).
My 12 year old mother witnessed the beating death of her father and Uncle and because she spoke Polish as well as German manged to save her mother and two sisters and herself from the same fate or worse.
That was in September, 1939, Hitler sent in soldiers to save these people who were being slaughtered. When she saw the Germans come in my mother said they knew they were “safe” and could come out of hiding.
Chamberlain declared war on Germany shortly after. That’s a part of history no one ever hears about.
Whatever else happened after,the Versaille Treaty of WWI started WWII.
I kind of wonder now why another war would be entered after the horror of The Great War just twenty years before. The politics must have been obvious to all the great leaders. Was it for money? Germany had to be destroyed just like today Russia must be brought down?
My mother lived in the east of Europe throughout WWII and even had “Russian” labor helping on their farm. She was the cook.

I don’t know if this has been shared, the article came out on the 20th… I am interested in Sundance’s opinions on the topic of how to deal with the SES and their own non-profit agency (which acts like a union) – the Senior Executive Association (SEA)… Obama expanded it and as of 2018 there were about 8,000 of them. Members of the SES serve in the key positions just below the top Presidential appointees. SES employees are the major link between these appointees and the rest of the Federal workforce. They operate and oversee nearly every government activity in approximately 75 Federal agencies.

Good post! I’ve written here about this several times over the years. The CSRA of 1978 has been amended so many times it’s almost unrecognizable from its original text. On top of that federal court decisions along with numerous MSPB, FLRA decisions over the decades have made the rules more complex than ever.
IMO now is the time for a total repeal and replacement of the Act itself. Let’s bring civil service reform into the 21st century with a new and modernized Civil Service Reform Act for the 21st Century.
On some level this “should” be Unconstitutional. How can a new administration come in and implement their own policies if they are not allowed to fire folks from the previous administration.
Barack Obama believed that the SES program should be expanded and, through a 2015 executive order, “Strengthening the Senior Executive Service,” sought to expand and “facilitate career executive continuity between administrations.” But more than that, his executive order implemented:
EVERY SES person is a Presidential appointee.
Every one.
A President has total authority to fire or demote to GS rank each and every one of them at any time for any reason….or no reason at all.
IMHO every single SES person in the DOJ and FBI should be demoted on Day 1 whereupon they then have the choice of eirther resigning or being interviewed by Patel’s people to see if they might work out in the new Administration.

You won’t find any natto in fruit or vegetables my friend. It’s a result of bacterial fermentation. You CAN get natto starter from Japan (I wouldn’t source it from anywhere else) and ferment is similar to making homemade yogurt. Note that you don’t have to use soy beans (other beans will work) – but if you do, get organic, non-GMO beans.

So I read a brief Newsmax article and it said social security for public employees passed allowing them to get full ss benefits. I’m confused because in one part of the article it says the employees were exempt from having to pay into ss because they got a pension.
So if that’s true why should they receive ss benefits if they never paid in? And still they were getting partial ss.
But then it mentions the public pension system becoming part of ss in 1984 and how unfair this was to teacher, firefighters etc.
So does anyone know did they pay into social security or not?
And if not why should they get ANY social security benefits?
Speaking for myself…started teaching in Dade co, Fl in 1965..Florida retirement system was called TRS…I contribute 6.25 %..state matched it..Commission in Tallahassee invested in Stock Market…no SS deduction…1984 employed teachers were given choice to switch to SS or stay in TRS… I choose to stay…my retirement now is more than my yearly salary…
New teachers had to go on SS…there’s more but that’s all for now…

This was for workers who did pay into social security, and also had pensions.
There is a windfall limit, and this legislation eliminates that for those workers.
This specific piece of legislation has been terribly explained! There was a provision implemented in the tax code called the Windfall Elimination Provision, which applied to workers who contributed to two different pension programs – specifically Social Security for jobs held in the private sector AND Government Pensions for jobs in the public sector. Many of these included police officers, firefighters, and teachers, who worked other jobs either prior to, or in addition to, their public sector work. Because they receive a pension from the government, which they paid into during their career (often at higher rates than Social Security) they were penalized when they attempted to collect on the Social Security benefits, which they also earned. All this legislation does is to correct that issue and allow people to collect all of the benefits that they earned during their entire career.
(Disclaimer – my husband worked in the private sector for more than a dozen years, and paid into SS. He then became a firefighter, a job he held for 31 years, paying into the state retirement fund, from which he draws a pension. But, because of WEP, he would have been penalized over 60% of his EARNED Social Security benefit. Now, he will be able to receive all benefits EARNED over his entire career. People are spreading incorrect info saying that public employees will now be able to collect Social Security when they never paid into it and that is simply NOT true!)
People do enjoy hating on public employees. They hear “pension”, and it triggers them emotionally.
BTW men get every bit as emotionally triggered over this as women do, if not more so.
It’s not the existence of pensions for public employees which is the problem, it’s what the politicians do with the pension systems, and as you say, this is SO often misreported on, the public has no idea, and they often think that the elected officials who make the situation worse are heroically fighting abuse.
Same here vikingmom. Employed 15 years in Civil service and 20 years of paying SS including military time and Post Office and that doesn’t include 7 years when I paid into SS but they claim those 7 years that I did not make enough to claim them as enough quarters to be eligible. Started SS at 62 and was shocked to see that I was penalized by 2/3 of my SS assessment.
We won’t even get back pay. As I understand it, the legislation only goes back to Dec. of 2023 when the bill was brought out in committee.
Right now, I think one has to work a certain number of “quarters” to qualify for SS payments…so we shall see how that plays out. Either way, that has union paw prints on it.

Some of the local governments have not been as willing to work with the situation as they should have been.
Why is it that families with children can live in tents in freezing weather but they cannot live in tiny homes or insulated storage buildings on the exact same patch of ground?
The buildings can be locked so that there is less of a risk of looting while people are trying to work, attend school, and go about trying to put their lives back together. These are temporary shelters for the most part. At least issue temporary (maybe 3-year?) permits so that the power company can restore service.

What exactly is going on? When anyone loses a home in a tornado the government does not just give someone a new home. Is one issue, the biggest in my mind, that people who lost their homes to a catastrophic 100 year flood are wanting to stay on their land in order to safeguard farm animals, out buildings, farm machinery, cars, trucks, motorcycles etc.? I would not want to vacate my land and just hope that crack dealers and assorted thieves don’t show up and take whatever I had left.
It would seem like a temporary solution to mass produce a FREE simple 8 or 10 wide, to ease the delivery access problems in the rugged mountains, and give people warm secure shelter with a window on removing it in a set time frame. If their previous home had electricity than it wouldn’t, probably, cost much to extend the service to their new digs. I don’t know what the solution would be insofar as water and sewage? Providing coal or propane would probably be the answer to heat?
For almost 6 years, I installed flooring all over the mountain area of NC and TN. So many homes I went to were barely shacks that I never could figure out how they could pass any zoning ordinances. Being hidden out of sight undoubtedly helped and having tolerant neighbors. Just the same as progressives took over Vermont, Key West, San Francisco, Seattle and Asheville, they are moving into Western NC and Eastern TN and bringing their nosy leftist ways with them.

I have always been against it believing the far left would overtake the Convention and We The MAGA People would lose rights like the 2nd Amendment completely and a good portion of the 1st Amendment! Trump wants Europe to help pressure China, including with tariffs, to, in turn, pressure Russia to come to the bargaining table. China has a more powerful economy and conventional military compared to Russia.
NATO chief Mark Rutte warned on Dec. 12 that the West is “not ready” for an increasing Russian threat over the next five years, which includes a long-term goal of conflict with the West.
“It is time to shift to a wartime mindset, and turbocharge our defense production and defense spending,” he said.
Rutte had praised Trump’s first term for getting NATO countries to increase their defense expenditures.
Now, Trump is doing it again.
He has reiterated his intention to withdraw the United States from NATO if other countries do not reach defense spending of at least 2 percent of their GDP.
He could reasonably increase that demand to 3 percent and add another penalty: tariffs for those that fall below the agreed level.
These tariffs could focus on luxuries and replaceables so as not to disrupt more important U.S. supply lines.
European leaders are beginning to take action and will likely fund any U.S. shortfall to keep the Russian army further away from European capitals. Rutte has called for an increase in the defense spending goal among NATO members. Many NATO countries—namely Italy, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Luxembourg, Slovenia, Croatia, and Canada—pay less than 2 percent of GDP, while several countries, including the United States, Poland, and the Baltics, spend more than 3 percent.
When President Trump actually says this on his Truth Social site or says it on video, I might believe it.

When I built OpenVAERS it was because of how badly designed and outdated the VAERS website was. I was appalled at how antiquated it was. I realized early on that this was pervasive throughout the VAERS system. I thought this was due to old and inefficient systems that had not been upgraded, and while that was in small part true. It was not the whole truth.
One example, the fact that we are not given updated reports. I thought this was due at first due to old databases that lacked easy operability.
But it became clear during Covid this was not the case. They contracted with General Dynamics IT division to do an upgrade. In the contract it is spelled out that GDIT was SPECIFICALLY EXCLUDED from upgrading so that updated reports could be given to the public.
And even today it’s still the case that if someone is injured, a report is made to VAERS, and subsequently the person dies, the public data does not reflect the death.
This is a deliberate obfuscation of the progression and severity of vaccine injury to the public research community and an example of one of the many ways in which we know that VAERS keeps two sets of books.

I listened to that, and I didn’t believe a word of it. I don’t think Johnson believed it either, but he said it. No, Putin is not going to sweep across Europe. So, Johnson fibbed about a need to fund Ukraine. I didn’t think he could do it, but he surprisingly can.
I think Speaker Johnson has a manner that leads people to underestimate him. It is cultivated, sort of like Wally Cox playing “Mr. Peepers.” He magically steps out of the way, just in time to avoid falling objects, but always manages to save the day in the end. Cox was a genius level actor and comedian. Mike Johnson is playing his role in a way that keeps everyone guessing, and that might be what he needs to do.
Yesterday I posted a couple of people’s tweets about how they are going after the relationship between Elon Musk and Donald Trump now, because they fear what the two of them combined can accomplish.
The tactic is to refer to Elon as the president, because they think that President Trump has a huge ego and is very fragile, so this will get him to send Elon packing or something.
It is extremely obvious when you see the men together, who is the patriarch. I personally find it a beautiful thing to behold.
The good news is, Elon is very aware of what is going on.
