Our parents, having survived the Great Depression, could look back on that grim time and realize they had a spirit of self-reliance than was bullet-proof.
From time-t0-time my dad would share his Depression experiences with me. Surrounded by my 50’s affluence, they seemed like tales from another world . . . which in many way that exactly what they were. Still, as I grew older and had a greater understanding I realized the values those lessons imparted to me. They taught me the value of self-reliance, something I’ve depended on my whole life.

Little ‘Tink is, of course, being her usual charming little self. For such a tiny little kitty, she has real spunk. We have a former feral kitty from down the street . . . who now appears to have reached an agreement with ‘Tink. The feral tends to being aggressive and, despite her size, ‘Tink is protective of ‘her’ yard. Haven’t heard them yelling at each other for several days now so presumably they’ve decided to get along. ‘Tink has such a strong personality that she just won’t “quit”. Feral kitty has apparently figured that out . . .

Been there with a co-worker in the mid 90’s, his grandmother had a cabin there on the road up to where the Goonies & Kindergarden Cop had scenes included in the movies.
Had clam chowder at 2 restaurants on the beach there, 1st place we went to that I got chowder was the best I had ever had.
2nd restaurant was even better and expressed that to waiter, his reply, theirs may be world famous but ours is award winning, boy howdy.
Weirdest thing tho, most people (including me) walking up & down the beach were wearing shorts with a sweatshirt on as your legs keep warm enough but your arms are cold due to the wind off the ocean which at best in July is perhaps 40 degrees.

I got a bunch of 35MM photos on the trip, too bad I didn’t get the tools & time to digitize them…. all gone now.
Best part of the trip there was we also went up to Mt St Helens, it was the 25 year mark they had just opened a Anderson Ridge info/viewing center, viewing the devastation in the no rehab zones, I cannot imagine what it looked like … even 5 years after the event, might as well have been moonscape.
@ 25 years the small ground foliage was just starting to come back in enough quantity’s that small animals & deer were just starting to return, I would like to go there again to compare now that it has been 44.5 years.

American Founding Father, Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army during War for Independence and 1st President of the United States (1789-97), dies at 67
Biography: Often titled the “father of the country”, Washington served as Commander of the Continental Army during the American Revolution and became the first President of the United States.
At the age of 20, Washington joined the colonial Virginia militia in the first stages of the French and Indian War, rising through the ranks to brigadier general in 1758. He retired from the military, and resumed his career as land surveyor, gentleman farmer, and politician. He became a leading opponent of British colonial oppression.
In 1775, the Second Continental Congress made him commander-in-chief in the Revolution. In this position Washington is praised for his selection and supervision of his generals; preservation and command of the army; coordination with the Congress, state governors, and their militia; and attention to supplies, logistics, and training.
After the Revolution, he resigned as commander-in-chief to prove his commitment to American republicanism. He was chosen to lead the Constitutional Convention to decide the new government’s form and was then elected its first President.
Washington’s term in office saw the creation of a number of fundamental institutions and conventions that helped build the fledgling state. This included supporting Alexander Hamilton’s creation of a national bank, and the introduction of the cabinet system.
He refused to govern for a third term and retired to his home in Mount Vernon, where he died in 1799.

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

Mr. Cat thought, “PURR! PURR! I am a smart cat. Let me trick the birds.”
He went around listening to the birds. Mr. Cat had very sharp ears.
He heard the birds say, “Mr. Tweet is sick. He has such a cold. We should take him to a doctor.”
Mr. Cat thought, “PURR! PURR! I should pretend to be a doctor.”
Mr. Cat wore a white suit and a pair of spectacles. He also carried a small leather briefcase.
He knocked on the door of Mr. Tweet and said, “Hello Mrs. Tweet. Is everything well?”
Mrs. Bird was very smart. She immediately saw the cat. She smiled and said, “Tweet! Tweet! Mr. Tweet is unwell but getting better.”
Mr. Cat said, “I am a famous doctor. I can cure Mr. Tweet. I can give him medicines.”
Mrs. Bird said, “Tweet! Tweet! You are a smart cat. We are very well. We would be healthier if you don’t eat us. Please leave us alone.”
Moral of the Story:
“Be wise and shun the quack.”

I am not a single bit gleeful about her fall or injuries.
But the above doesn’t mean I don’t consider her a God mocking, scum sucking swine, and that the world will be a better place when she busts hell wide open.
Same with the “honorable gentleman” from Kentucky.
I pray they embrace the glorious gospel of Christ while they still have time, and wish them a merry Christmas.
