The families claim a level of pain and suffering that can only be met by driving Jones into bankruptcy and liquidate his company.
So the lawyers get the families to put up the money they were going to receive from the auction, as their bid into the auction. Sounds like wash trading to me. Why have an auction, other than generating fees for lawyers?
And the operating partner, the Onion, clearly stated they will operate the assets as a satire website, immediately devaluing the assets they just purchased. That’s the families’ right to burn $1.5 billion, but again goes against that pain and suffering claim, other than the happiness of burning AJ to the ground.
But they didn’t win the auction, even with that bid.
But the trust claimed they won anyway. Pretty sure you’re not allowed to do that, and this judge agreed.

The medical examiner who ruled George Floyd’s death a homicide testified Friday that Floyd’s heart disease and drug use contributed to his death, but police officers’ restraint of his body and compression of his neck were the primary causes.
Dr. Andrew Baker, who has been the chief medical examiner in Hennepin County since 2004, said Floyd had severe underlying heart disease and an enlarged heart that needed more oxygen than normal to function, as well as narrowing of his coronary arteries.
Baker did not include a lack of oxygen, or asphyxia, as a cause of Floyd’s death. Baker said that before he conducted the autopsy, he was aware that Floyd had become unconscious while he was in police custody and had died at a hospital. He said he did not look at videos of Floyd’s death, including the bystander video that went viral, until after the autopsy was complete, so as not to be biased in his findings.
Baker’s findings were at odds with those of other prosecution expert witnesses who were explicit in their assessments that Floyd died from asphyxia.

I nonetheless am of the opinion that Chauvin used “clearly excessive force.” Once this man is “down and cuffed,” he requires no further “restraint.” You can just step back and let him flop around on the pavement, because now he can’t go anywhere or hurt anybody other than himself. When the police van arrives, the four of you pick him up bodily and throw him in the back. If he dies on the way to the hospital, that’s not your concern: it’s suicide.
There were quite a few LEO’s who, at the time, were very upset at the reports of what Chauvin had actually done to his prisoner … and that his colleagues did nothing to call him off.
I don’t think that Chauvin committed “murder.” But I do think that his conduct was grossly excessive and unjustifiable.
Reasonable doubt should have been the massive about of drugs in Floyd’s blood stream.
There is a video that I no longer see, where the “paramedics” picking him up seem to me to clearly inject something into the neck of George Floyd. And the “paramedics” clearly do not have the actions of trained paramedics. When the “paramedic” “checks his pulse” he is hiding a syringe where he is guiding the needle with his index and middle fingers and depressing the plunger with the heel of his hand.
I don’t think the force of Chavins knee was enough to kill Floyd. I’ve used that technique before as well.
Using a common restraint that used by police thousands of times a week isn’t “force”. Remember Floyd was in the police car and they were ready to leave when he became disruptive and he was cuffed. Floyd was 6’5″ and almost 300 pounds.
As a lifetime resident of Minneapolis I can say with out any doubt that the city has been severely damaged and will probably never fully recover as long as the same twits that allowed it are still in control. I felt Chauvin was railroaded by Ellison who is an ultimate dem insider to fuel the riots. Walz let the city burn so his wife could enjoy the tires burning and Frey hid. They are still in power.
Assuming that they are within rage and that there is a good backstop, like the open ocean, I have no qualms with some American citizens shooting at those drones.

Considering that we’ve been venal and stupid about Ukraine, it makes me wonder about the Middle East. Does our involvement there — alliances, blood, treasure — help make America great or work against it?
Thinking about DOGE, I’m also reminded of the Middle East. How much money have we sunk there? Did this country and its citizens get commensurate benefit? If we didn’t, did anyone?
It doesn’t seem to me that any of the fighting our government had the military do on our behalf, since and including Vietnam, have been to our benefit. And the most visible part of all that, Vietnam aside, has been the Middle East.

Since they had no way to pay off their debt, the government simply continued to print more and devalued its own currency in the process.

It took President Javier Milei of Argentina a mere two months to push his nation into a surplus. The Economy Ministry declared that the government posted a $589 million surplus back in April, the first surplus in a decade. Milei referred to the government as “a criminal organization,” and recognized that the public sector needed to shrink as 341,477 people were on the government payroll when he took office.
Milei is the same man who stood before the crowd at Davos and criticized their glorification of socialism. “The main leaders of the Western world have abandoned the model of freedom for different versions of what we call collectivism,” Milei said to a hostile crowd at Davos. “We’re here to tell you that collectivist experiments are never the solution to the problems that afflict the citizens of the world—rather they are the root cause.”
Those in charge want us to believe that capitalism equates to greed while collectivism is seen as a form of social justice but, of course, requires the money of others. Free enterprise is under constant attack, and Milei is one of the only world leaders fighting for its existence. “Social justice is not just. It doesn’t contribute to the general well-being,” Milei said to Davos, citing that socialism is “intrinsically unfair” and forces the state to attack the people for taxes. “Can any of us say that they voluntarily pay taxes?” he asked the crowd.

I really can’t explain why Putin has been so patient and methodical, but only a Fool would suggest that it is because he has no other alternative choice of action. Russia wants to “demilitarize and deNazify” Ukraine without destroying it utterly. If Russia wanted to simply carpet-bomb Kiev, wiping out civilians indiscriminately, it could have long ago done so. (In fact, its very first deception at the start of this operation was to suggest that it intended to do just that, because that’s what everyone expected. But their forces then withdrew without being chased.)
Russia stated in February two years ago “what it wants.” And that’s exactly what it’s going to get.
Maybe Putin has been patient and methodical waiting for President Trump to retake office. Maybe President Trump will pass that soccer ball back into Putin’s hands after Jan 20th.
