I’m disappointed because I feel confident Trump gave approval for this. There’s little chance Israel, Turkey, the Gulf States and others would have launched this op if they weren’t confident The Boss was in support. And if Kammy had won, there was risk that she’d foul those guys up badly.

My own thought on many agencies like the EPA. When mega corps realized that these agencies would have power over them, they infiltrated them with their people. They then used the power of those agencies to suppress competition, they kept the little guy from growing by stifling them with burdensome rules and regulations.

Figured out the EPA was a criminal enterprise with the way they handled the spillage into the Animas River in Colorado/NM (Gold King Mine) back in 2015. I was briefly involved in a non-superfund PCB clean-up site in Wisconsin.
This old report briefly describes it.
They had an old grist mill dam located about 10 miles downstream. I designed repairs for the leaking dam.
The EPA and Wisconsin DNR selected the dam as a somewhat arbitrary end of the clean-up of the stream.

This doesn’t relate to the roads but I can remember as a child living in Arkansas surrounded by rice fields. Big trucks used to go around and spray for mosquitoes. We were at the ballpark once and the truck came by and sprayed, we were all coughing and sneezing… Who knows wth was in that spray.
DDT is what they used in in the Canal Zone, a left over from the Vietnam era, circa 70’s. As kids, we would ride our bikes behind the mosquito truck that came around every night, spraying at dusk. It did not work. It seemed to get the mosquitos energized. I don’t remember coughing or sneezing.
Same here, early 60’s in South Carolina. All the kids on their bikes following the mosquito fogger truck. Thankfully no diseases.
We used to have to run when they sprayed the bushes at our municipal pool.

My husband and I were stationed in England in the 80s and I flew to the states to help my mother in law move. We ate nothing but take out as she didn’t do any cooking. When I got back to work, everyone noticed I had gained weight even though I was doing physical work all day land was only there two weeks. I have had problems ever since. Something in the food kicked off permanent weight gain for me. Most of our early years were spent overseas so we didn’t eat American food and I cooked almost every meal. Wherever fast food is popular, weight is a problem.

It’s very common as you know for women to gain weight after pregnancy. Hormones run wild during pregnancy and for some women they just don’t seem to go back to normal afterward.
It used to be common for women who have had several children to not be as slim as they had been as young girls, but now we see women who get really fat and stay that way.
I personally know of a number of women who started or resumed smoking after they had a baby, when they just couldn’t take the weight off.
One thing I suspect as a factor is that almost all pregnant women get told to avoid salt, and when you don’t consume enough salt your hormones will make you hang on to the salt you have.
What we’ve been told about dietary salt isn’t true either.

Summer time was free ranging time. Just the other day I was telling my daughter that when I was a kid, we (my brothers and I) left in the morning, showed up for lunch, and the back out until dinner (which usually involved our father yelling for us). Lots of fun with a bit of harmless mischief mixed in.
Also fat girls looked like fat girls, and by that I mean I see fat girls today who look fat in the way some post-menopausal women look fat.

My sons were three and five when I returned to the workk force in the late 1960s. We did not purchase and could not afford to purchase the things you describe. Our meals were simple, but homemade.
We would occasionally go to McDonald’s as a treat–two or three times a year perhaps. My son recently told me how he still remembers eagerly watching “which way dad would turn when we left the church service”, to know if we would go there.

There were few fast food restaurants and most families could not afford to feed the family every night with fast food. By the 1980s, Big Corp food suppliers figured out that they could mass produce convenience foods. Families became wealthier and could afford to eat out more. Many children were indoctrinated into the concept of getting most meals through a drive through or in the frozen food section of a grocery store. Then came the “snack aisle”. In the 60s and 70s, snacks were an apple or raw veggies.
Now, we are here today with several decades of people thinking that food is purchased in the middle aisles of a store instead of on the outer edges (meat, produce, dairy) of a store.

This may, I repeat may, give some credence to the drug’s effect.

Something I’ve been thinking about for a while, that to me seems borne out by what we saw last night.
After the Ukraine president’s meeting with President Trump at Trump Tower, he was described as being “shaken”. While I almost certain that Trump told him off for that stunt with signing artillery shells (which we know displeased PDJT because he cancelled their scheduled meet-up), I believe it’s likely that President Trump also told him how it was going to be, if Zelensky wanted a way out of this.
That was tough to swallow for Zelensky, but it looks as though he did.
At the meeting in France, it was Macron who looked as if he was having trouble. I thought Zelensky looked nervous at times, but he didn’t look upset or angry with 4547.
Also Zelensky didn’t get the squeezing or headlock and noogies or any such thing from Trump. Not like Macron got. That suggests to me that Zelensky had already been brought into line and had was acquiescent with the plan.
There are other people with ideas along these lines, that something got settled and Z is on board with it. Whatever it is, Z is okay with it and Macron is not.
This is one theory. The thing is, the Democrats already know such a meeting took place, so why wouldn’t they get rid of Zelensky “just in case”?

My wife ordered something at the last minute, paid for overnight delivery. FedEx was the carrier. It was out for delivery all day and then at 5:20 pm it said there was a problem with the delivery. The delivery status was updated to show a delivery the next day.
I called to find out what the f&@$. I was told the driver timed out. F$&@ing ridiculous. All these delivery people suck. Our USPS guy shoves the mailbox full, constantly ruining envelopes: too lazy to get out of the truck.

In late July the press is complaining that FDR has been subsidizing the Japanese war effort because Roosevelt is selling cheap oil and cheap steel to Japan. Roosevelt says he is doing this because if he were to cut these exports off, it would cause war with Japan. A week later, Roosevelt cuts off oil and steel to Japan.
In October, Washington ordered all commercial traffic in the Pacific sea lanes to stop. By clearing the sea lanes, there was a clear path for the Japanese fleet to get to Pearl Harbor. They made it so that no commercial craft would inadvertently alert Pearl Harbor to the incoming attack.
The entire Pacific Fleet was brought into the harbor and lined up for a parade and review. Whereas previously the fleet was never gathered in one spot at one time like this, it was gathered on December 6th and prepared so that on Monday December 8th, it could be reviewed by Admiral Husband Kimmel. Kimmel gave leave to the sailors for December 7th, so many of them were hung over on that Sunday morning. According to several tipsters, Admiral Kimmel was as well.

I guess I can see the general outlines of the deal Trump may have struck with Russia.
The US wants to neutralize Iran.
Russia wants to neutralize Ukraine.
Both agree that neither goal is a strategic threat to either, and that either is free to pursue their goal, “within reason” (they’ll argue this later and often).
