Ok its sentimental, but we never could replace our Sheba, but every time we see one, our old hearts miss a beat.
Sherry had Geisha and Buckley in their sweaters yesterday to go out. Geisha is used to it, but for Buckley it was the first time. He tolerated it well but I could tell he was happy when I took it off of him.
Finally the house is fully decorated. Sherry finished it up yesterday. So far Gabby the cat is behaving herself, unlike some previous years.
Sounds really cosy there.
Here by the North Sea in Scotland no snow. Just the most unbelievable sun rise at 0837 GMT.
Our long departed Sheba went crazy the first time she saw snow.
One year we had ‘big’ snow {an accumulation of 3 feet] in the garden and she went and buried herself in it.
They came from Siberia originally and were Reindeer hunting dogs, so felt at home in the snow.

Once upon a time there was “Usenet” but you needed a university account to access it. Then a bit later the internet appeared and our world changed. I clearly remember the excitement of talking to an astronomer in Brazil . . . and discovering we both liked the same single-malt Scotch!

I first got onto the internet at my job via NCSA Mosaic (later became Netscape) on an IBM PS/2 Model 50. Wasn’t a whole lot available the first few years but by 1998 it was fairly useful. I created my department’s first internal website on the company intranet using MS FrontPage 98.
At home I was heavy into the internet via a home-built 486-based PC…. But although I visited a few BBS’s (bulletin boards) I have no real recollection as to what we discussed…
Update: I remember – I (and brother in law) were both heavy into learning AutoCad engineering drafting / design software…..

Reed. Don’t know if you saw my post to you a bit ago (but posted on yesterday’s Thread), about music acquisition question, but here it is. The movie Baby Boom had a town dance sequence where a group, I think they called themselves Moonlighters, sang Moonlight in Vermont with actor Brett Leach singing it. I just loved Brett Leach singing it, and have been trying to find that version, with Brett Leach singing it. I went down a rabbit hole one day and never did find it. Any ideas?

That is a quandary, ASCAP does not show that Brett or the Moonlighters ever “paid” to cover the songs Moonlight in Vermont or Pennies from heaven.
They do have the cryptic ones that are only numbers perhaps referring to movies that paid to use the songs for release, so unless a soundtrack was released for the movie (I do not see one) it never appeared in printed/recorded form other than for the movie.

Only way I know of is to rip it outta the movie & remove any dialog digitally but I have tried to make a karaoke track using this method & failed miserably … there are people that can but it is not me. (maybe AI can now)
Finding it in the movie (yes I own it) it seems to be a medley of the 2 songs in a bit of a mash up that would make it even harder to find should it exist that someone already did the work to get it out.

Damn shame that slavery and states rights became so intertwined in people’s minds. The confederates’ focus on states rights in their constitution made it far more difficult for Davis to effect both economic and military policies that would have allowed success.
They delayed almost two years in negotiations with Britain that would have broke the union’s naval blockade of all of their ports early in the war. When they finally got all the states to agree on a treaty, Lincoln stepped in with the Emancipation Proclamation.
That changed the English public’s view of the war and killed potential British intervention. The only reason Lincoln made the proclamation when he did. Up untill then Davis had been successful in presenting the war as one over the rights of individual states to trade with the British Caribbean colonies rather than have to sell their goods to the industrialized northern states at far lower prices.
Once Lincoln made it about slavery, Britain bowed out. The confederacy couldn’t break the naval blockade and the rest is history.
So were the original understanding of states rights and they’ve never recovered. The 10th amendment was eviscerated.
Britain bowed out because Russia sent fleets of ships to the U.S. east and west coasts to prevent a British and French invasion. Britain wanted the US, France wanted all of Canada. Britain has never been our friend.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

It’s seemingly so ‘simple’ and sincere

Back in the late ’50s thru ear;y ’80s, my paternal grandmother had a small collection (couple dozen) of LP records, among which were several Elvis Presley albums with gospel / faith-based music. As a woman of strong faith, she adored his singing those songs…
Elvis did great justice to Gospel music. Oh, yeah.
Trump must do 3 things:
I donated to, campaigned for, and voted for Trump in ’16/’20/’24. I believe he was and is the best possible choice for POTUS.
That said, i was highly disappointed in a number of things he failed to do in his first term and his response to acts that occurred subsequently. I say disappointed because I firmly believe in the OT philosophy of cutting down the tree, burning the roots, and salting the ground so nothing could ever grow there again.
My list of such disappointments is long but I’ve narrowed it down to three items that Trump could and should do right after being sworn into office, or lose my confidence in him going forward. My confidence, not my support. Yes, that may be of no importance to him or most here, but it is important to me.
Three things:
(1) Recall Milley to active service, court martial him, and if convicted, punish and humiliate him publicly such that no military officer is ever tempted again to do what Milley did.
(2) Order the release of every single JFK Assassination record held by the US government no later than noon 27 Jan 2025. No exceptions, no redactions. Every single one.
Assign a single individual with full executive authority to execute the order and promptly prosecute any individual anywhere who fails to fully comply within the deadline. Fines and imprisonment for conviction of such.
(3) Immediately pardon Assange, Snowden, and every J6 participant not convicted of violent acts against persons. Review every conviction for violence for pardon or commutation where justified.
Establish a permanent executive commission under POTUS to revise the federal criminal code. Clearly differentiate between acts against vital national security secrets and acts in support of public transparency in all entities of our government. It must never again be a crime to expose government actions contrary to the letter, intent, or spirit of our constitution to protect the people from our own government.
That’s it. Three simple things that Trump could legally enact on his first day in office. Three acts that would forever change the very nature and conduct of every government entity in it’s future conduct and interface with we the people.
Agree with all except humiliate him publicly, however, it must be public as in it is not done behind closed doors, but well known to the people. Humiliating is an act of anger, which I completely understand, but I don’t think anger can be part of the letter, intent or spirit of the law. I think that must stay pure. As to humiliate, there is always the press, who by then will be running to cover the right, because they are already scrambling to be in any way relevant once Trump takes office, after all they have done, not to mention they are in big trouble financially as a result. Otherwise, may your list come true into the fullest extent you have expressed it!!!

Evening Prayer For Forgiveness
Heavenly Father, thank You for bringing me through this day and Lord, forgive me for the times when I have wandered outside Your best will for me, instead of trusting You implicitly.
Thank You, that You are such a gracious Shepherd to me and that You come and rescue me even when I lose my way and stray from the path that You have laid out for me.
As I look back over today, I know Lord that there were things that I should have said and done differently, and times when I reacted in a manner that was not honouring Your holy name. Forgive me I pray, but thank You, Father, that You always faithfully prepared to gently bring me back to Yourself.
Give me a good night’s sleep I pray, knowing that there is no condemnation because I am in Christ, and may I wake up in the morning refreshed and ready to do Your will. In Jesus’ name I pray,

This is worth hearing as it the last studio work he ever did. In a home studio for their “Handle Me With Care” project. Can’t say enough about it. Legends, all.
Jump to 15 min’s in and it’s Roy Orbison singing an original Wilbury’s tune and his voice was like none other.
