I worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota for years. Knew nothing about insurance, but worked in their IT/IS department.
Had to, however, attend meetings with some of the big-wigs and was appalled hearing over and over again the term “units” to describe human beings.
Not patients. Not customers. Not humans. Units.
I said something about that term being grotesque in one meeting, and was never invited to another inner circle meeting afterwards.
Good. And good riddance.
Units, inputs, outputs…rude business jargon-is used in big health care organization—refers to staff, too.
This stunt re anesthesia services…reminds me of the airlines charging for everything but I digress. They have identified areas that exceed ‘allowable’ time frames for surgeries & targeted it for cost/money/profit savings. Which if implemented, would place anesthesiologists against surgeons in the OR. Another tactic of big business, having employees at each other’s throats while the bean counters accumulate more beans…until a frustrated surgeon struggling with an intra operative problem…throws a scalpel then all bets are off.

Not many. I, myself, had a kidney transplant 2 years ago, so for me, to your point, of course I can have on-demand care. And just for the record, I was born with a chronic kidney condition and since it being discovered at the age of 10, always knew one day I would need one. That day came on my 40th and a half birthday, exactly.
And no, I am not an unhealthy, overweight, person. I am fit, incredibly healthy aside from my genetic ailment, which, thankfully is now gone.
I do however live in terror that all it takes to end my life immediately is one day not having access to my daily anti-rejection drugs. I put it out of mind and pretend I’m “normal” but facts are facts.
I wish I could just buy the drugs in as high quantity as I want: they are all generic at this point. Why I have to depend on a Byzantine system to dispense these to me can only be explained by the “complex” and government loving the fact my life is literally in their hands; or so they think. These idiots don’t realize my life is not in anyone’s hands but our Lord God and my savior Christ Jesus.

23 years ago, a hospital I worked for posted prices in the lobby—anesthesia, if my memory is correct, was $300.00 a MINUTE! 1999 ish and yes I read it right- per minute. That was initially going to cause botched surgeries with surgeons in a hurry —using anesthesia to to pressure surgeons?

I have seen for myself how, since Obamacare and more so since Biden took office, people have more and more trouble actually getting their prescriptions filled, and there is a back-and-forth between the pharmacy, the doctor’s office, and someone in the insurance office, with no one actually caring whether the person gets their medicine or not.

I have read that the government requirements for Medicare paying out on claims is forcing these companies to adhere to the same guidelines in order to participate in the programs.

Medicare (a government agency) makes the rules. All insurance companies and hospitals have to follow those same rules. Its a “health care system” not health care. The “system” moves money between the government and the insurance company. Our job in this system is to go to the doctor and get the money moving.
There are hundreds of millions of us getting that money moving. Millions more have been added in the last 4 years. There’s a reason they get free health insurance.
Right in the middle of hurricane season down here, our home insurance was cancelled. Well I got so fed up… the decision to keep paying for a house that has no mortgage does not require any insurance company to be fed an annual income from me. So Be It, It Is Done.
I believe it’s all part of a power and control trap we’ve been enslaved in for sooooo long. We don’t even question it. We just keep paying.
I believe that enslavement system is about to end.
Luckily, we’ve been graced with the presence of a man who knows the game is rigged against We the People.

Not sure what state you are in but you might consider checking out a small Mutual Company for at least a fire-only policy, which does not pay to replace, but pays an “agreed value” you are willing to accept at the time of loss. Again, depending upon your state they are usually downright cheap. Considering..
Hypothetically, if your house were to burn down, you would at least have funds paid to you, not a bank. Which would cover sudden moving and living expenses, in addition to cleanup costs.
The property is still yours even if you decide not to rebuild, therefore YOU are responsible for debris cleanup. You’d be surprised how much it costs to clear property and dispose of all the debris from a total loss fire.
No insurance at all is an exposure I wouldn’t want to gamble. YMMV. Hope this helps.
Well I dont pay any insurance at all(exception-Medicare, which goes from the gov to the insurance company), if I dont have the funds to take care of the loss, I just wait till I can afford it and go buy what I need. I even gave my grandson my vehicle, which I didnt drive.

Health insurance should be abolished. People should have their own personal health account that they themselves pay into, and cannot be touched by any other entity. The reason health insurance is so popular is, because most people take far more out of it than they ever pay in.

On a mission trip for my church in Switzerland (tough assignment but someone has to do it!) about 18 years ago, I was speaking with my host (a mid level Swiss banker) at a little bodega overlooking his daughter’s equestrian lesson.
As i was speaking with him, I noticed several people who kept looking my direction as I did so. So I asked my host as to why, since the looks weren’t exactly pleasant, more of a sneering and looking down their nose.
His reply, “Well, you’re an American”. My reply, “So?”. His response, “You guys (the USA) take everything you want”.
This is the view of much of the world. We are thugs, bullies who strong arm and take over anything that the U.S. decides they want anywhere they decide is valuable.

Switzerland is THE home of takers. From the World Economic Forum to WHO. Bill Gates’ is treated as a King there. GAVI is its own country because Gates has given so much money to the World Health Organization.

I commented similar afterthoughts both during and after watching it. But I split it up into three comments here in a favored play by play. I believe that commenter saw the same interview I did, based upon their comment.

I’ve come to call these people “accidentalists” – those who find refuge in randomness, who dismiss patterns as paranoia.
For the professional class – academics, journalists, corporate managers – acknowledging these patterns means confronting their own complicity. Their success, their status, their sense of self – all are built on supporting rather than questioning power structures.
The accidentalist mindset offers refuge from this self-examination. Better to dismiss than face one’s role in the machinery.
