He was a fantastic and wonderful Congressman. He would hand write a note in response to every single phone call that had an issue, and often call personally. He would always show up to whatever event you needed or wanted him to attend, he was truly a Southern Gentleman and Statesman. I miss him and his kind.

Virgil Goode was a great congressman and as you say, an exemplary Southern Gentleman. I did not live in his district, but have close relatives that are still there and know him, and they all attest to his many fine qualities as their Congressional rep and generally as a great friend of those in his district.
Very cool! I hope he is doing well and enjoying life. He is one of the very few that left political life and has pretty much stayed out of it. He is definitely a real gem of a person.
